At Frederick County Parks and Recreation (FCPR), we believe in the power of sports to inspire, empower, and connect our community. Our Youth Sports Leagues are more than just games; they are opportunities to grow, learn, and create lasting memories.
Guided by our mission to provide a fun, safe, and respectful environment, our leagues are designed to celebrate sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth above all else. Whether your child is a seasoned athlete or trying a sport for the first time, we welcome participants of all shapes, sizes, abilities, and experiences to join our inclusive community.
With the support of our dedicated staff, volunteers, and coordinators, we work to foster a love for sports while helping children build character, develop skills, and make friendships that extend beyond the field. Together, we strive to create an environment where every player is valued, and where diversity in race, gender, beliefs, and skill levels enriches the experience for all.

NFL FLAG Football
Early Bird Discount Register by Jan 29th: $89/player
Final Registration Register by Feb 12th: $109/player
A commitment of 2 days per week is needed for this league (weekday practice and Saturday games). First 2 practices will be held on Saturday, March 15th and 22nd at local turf fields, as grass fields are not yet open for the season. Practices at your home park will begin the week of March 31st. Practices are 1-hour long. Please make sure to select your preferred practice location during registration. Practice locations are Ballenger Creek Park, Old National Pike Park, Othello Regional Park, Urbana District Park or Utica District Park. Game-day meetings are approximately 1-hour long and run until March 29th - May 31st. Team jerseys and flag belts/flags are included. Cleats are recommended but not required. Parent/Coach volunteers are crucial to the running of this league and receive a discount! Please contact Keith Tapley if interested: ktapley@frederickcountymd.gov. Flag Football experience is not necessary but may be helpful for the older age groups.

A commitment of 2 days per week is needed for this Co-Ed league (weekday practice and Saturday game). Practices start the week of March 31st and are 1-hour long at your home park. Please make sure to select your preferred practice location during registration. Practice locations are Old National Pike Park, Othello Regional Park, Urbana District Park or Utica District Park. Game-day meetings are approximately 1-hour long April 12th - June 14th. Numbered team jerseys, shorts, and socks are included. Shin guards are required; cleats are recommended but not required. Parent/Coach volunteers are crucial to the running of this league and receive a discount! Please contact Keith Tapley if interested: ktapley@frederickcountymd.gov. Soccer experience is not necessary but may be helpful for the older age groups.

A commitment of 2 days per week is needed for this Co-Ed league (weekday practice and Friday night game) and all participants must be currently in high school. Practices start the week of March 31st and are 1-hour long on a week night at your home park. Please make sure to select your preferred practice location during registration. Practice locations are Old National Pike Park, Utica District Park, or Urbana District Park. Game-day meetings are approximately 1-hour long between April 11th to June 13th and licensed referees will be officiating the games. Games will be 11v11 if interest allows and all games will be played at Ballenger Creek Park. Numbered team jerseys, shorts, and socks are included. Shin guards are required; cleats are recommended but not required. Parent/Coach volunteers are crucial to the running of this league and receive a discount! CO-ed Middle School Volleyball
A commitment of 2 days per week is needed for this Co-Ed league (Weeknight practice and Saturday game). This league is for boys and girls enrolled in grades 6th, 7th or 8th grade during the 20242025 school year only. Learn basic volleyball skills, play games against other county teams, and participate in an end of season playoff. One-hour practices are held once a week starting the week of April 14th. Please make sure to select your preferred practice location during registration. Practice locations are Brunswick Rec Center, Centerville Rec Center, Deer Crossing Rec Center, Middletown Rec Center, Sugarloaf Rec Center, Tuscarora Rec Center, Walkersville Rec Center and Thurmont Rec Center. Game-day meetings are approximately 1-hour long between April 26th through June 14th. Jerseys will be provided. Coaching a youth sports team is a rewarding way to give back to the community while helping young athletes develop skills, teamwork, and confidence. Frederick County Parks and Recreation is seeking volunteer coaches.

We are looking for Youth & Adult League Officials
This position offers approximately 4-8 hours per week and varies on both weekdays and weekends. This is a non-benefited part-time position with a rate of $16.00/hour and candidates must be at least 16 years old to apply.
We’re Hiring Sports Referees
This person will have the opportunity to officiate Youth and Adult Basketball, Flag Football, Soccer and Volleyball Leagues. They are expected to maintain a fun and safe environment for all participants. Keeping players safe and players healthy are first concerns, the official will promptly and decisively address unsafe situations as well as unsafe/inappropriate conduct on the part of coaches, players and spectators. Location, time and duration of each game will depend upon schedule, location and other factors as determined by supervision. Necessary equipment will be provided by the Division of Parks and Recreation.

ACCOMMODATIONS:

CODE OF CONDUCT
Frederick County Parks and Recreation (FCPR) is committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment for all participants and guests. To promote safety and enjoyment for all, FCPR asks individuals to act appropriately at all times while they are visiting FCPR facilities or participating in FCPR leagues.
As a participant in our Leagues, you agree to:
1. Treat other participants, staff, spectators, and officials with respect at all times.
2. Refrain from the use of profanity or obscene gestures.
3. Follow all directions from officials and FCPR staff.
4. Respect the fields, rec centers, equipment, and facility amenities.
5. Promote sportsmanship, safety, and fun above winning.
6. Read and review the league rules, FCPR League Mission Statement, and facility policies.
FCPR has a discipline policy for conduct at recreation programs and facilities. Anyone that violates the Code of Conduct and are asked to leave the league or facility, will not be refunded. County employees are not responsible for league participants prior to, or after, a scheduled games.
FCPR will investigate all reported incidents. Suspension or termination of the FCPR privileges may result if there’s any Code of Conduct violation.
CONCUSSION AWARENESS:
The registration process for youth sports requires a review of the information on concussions and concussion awareness available on our website www.recreater. com/concussion. Participants must review the concussion awareness information prior to the first session in order to comply with the state law. If you are unable to review the concussion awareness information online, you must request a written copy from the Division of Parks & Rec by calling 301-600-2936.
Refund Policy Summary:
INCLEMENT WEATHER-RELATED CLOSURES:
In times of inclement weather, you can check the status of a program by calling the Program Status Line at 301-600-6291, checking our social media outlets listed below or go to our website (www.recreater.com).
If a program is cancelled due to inclement weather, every effort will be made to make-up missed programs. Refunds will not be granted for rescheduled programs that are missed due to conflicts with personal schedules.

INHERENT RISKS:
Participants must acknowledge that there are inherent risks and dangers associated with recreation activities and must hold Frederick County, Maryland harmless from all claims for injuries, damage, or loss, which may result from you or your child’s participation.
IMAGE/MEDIA WAIVER:
Participants consent to Frederick County, Maryland’s use of the participant’s image and likeness as shown in any photographs, videotapes, motion picture film, or electronic images, and any audio recordings made of the participant’s voice in whatever way the County desires, including television, print and Internet websites. Furthermore, you consent that such photographs, films, recordings, electronic images shall be the sole property of Frederick County, Maryland. Participants have the option to submit a non-consent for the use of images of yourself or your child during online registration or by calling 301-600-2936.
Refunds are issued for activities canceled by Frederick County Parks & Recreation or when rescheduling is not possible. Customer withdrawals must be requested using the online form and are subject to the refund schedule available online at www.recreater.com.
