Mike Josiah Remanufacturing the Samsung SCX-5935 Toner Cartridge First released in September 2009, the Samsung SCX-5935 printers are based on a 33ppm, 600dpi engine (4,800 x 4,800 Enhanced). The first page out is rated at under 8.5 seconds, and the monthly duty cycle is up to 80,000 pages. These printers can Print, copy, scan, and fax. They come standard with 4Mb of memory which is upgradeable by adding in a backup hard disk. Duplexing also comes standard. These cartridges do not have a drum cover, and come new with a piece of heavy paper with foam glued to it taped around the cartridge. See Figure A. They also now come with a shipping lock that holds the PCR off the drum preventing flat spots on the PCR. (See Figures B & C) New PCR holders now fit through the shell of the cartridge so that the shipping lock can fit into them. There are both LY (4,000 pages) and HY (10,000 pages) cartridges available. Each version of cartridge has its own specific chip. The LY can easily be converted to a HY by adding the correct amount of toner and using the correct chip. The chip covers are held in place by plastic rivets. To replace the chip, the rivets need to be
cut off, holes carefully drilled, (not too deep or the cartridge will leak), and screws installed. The printers as well as the cartridges are listed below. • MLT-D206S (4,000 pages) • MLT-D206L (10,000 pages) At the time of this writing, only one machine has been released that uses this cartridge • Samsung SCX-5935FN Required Tools • Toner approved vacuum. • A small Common screw driver • A Phillips head screwdriver • Needle nose pliers Required Supplies • Toner for use in the Samsung SCX5935 Toner • Replacement chip • Replacement drum • Replacement Wiper Blade • Replacement Doctor Blade • Conductive Grease • Drum lubricating powder
