HSC RESULTS 2021
6th in State Dear Reddam House Community, I’m sure you will join me in congratulating the HSC Class of 2021 and their teachers for their incredible results amidst another year of great difficulty and disruption. The COVID pandemic challenged the class of 2021 – and these remarkable students have emerged with more belief in themselves and a greater sense of their own abilities. Coming 6th in the State is a testimony to the dedication of our students and their families, as well as to the professionalism and commitment of their teachers. The events of their final year will have a way of defining this cohort of students. It disrupted their schooling, virtual learning became the norm for a period of time and many rites of passage associated with Year 12 were transformed and diluted. Their reaction to the adaptation of these milestones impressed me and all their teachers. The resilience and determination that I have witnessed from this cohort together with the kindness shown to each other and members of the community have led to an optimistic and positive culture emerging. Attitudes of which the Class of 2021 can be proud. In many ways, the Class of 2021 has thrived during this time of uncertainty. They have pooled their resources, collaborated and helped each other over the line. They have been united against adversity and every student has been as important as every other student.

REDDAM HOUSE HSC 2021 NEWSLETTER 21 January 2022 _______________________________________________________________________________________ TO THE REDDAM HOUSE HSC CLASS OF 2021: Congratulations on these wonderful results, be proud of what you have achieved this year – doing your HSC during a global pandemic with so much uncertainty surrounding everything has required a Herculean effort. I remind you of my message entitled “Mountaintops and Valleys” at your Valedictory, As a cohort, you have not only conquered the “HSC mountain”, but also the personal difficulties faced by each and every one of you along the way. Your determination to stand at the top, victorious, has been what characterised you. When the going got tough and things went wrong, the qualities of courage, resourcefulness, the ability to put up with discomfort and hardship, and the enthusiasm to hold tight to your goals and to see them through with doggedness and determination epitomised your cohort. Today’s special moment of celebration is made all the more precious because it did not happen easily but because you had to grind out the hard yards to get there. How meaningful, then, the realisation that you have made it. That your efforts have been worthwhile. That you can savour your achievement. In the book, Big Panda and Little Dragon, Big Panda asks, “Which is more important, the journey or the destination”, “The company”, replied Little Dragon. and how true that was during the past year. This result of which we are all rightly proud was a team effort. Year 12 of 2021. It has been our great pleasure to watch you develop as individuals and as a cohort over the years, and in particular to note how you have dealt with the uncertainty of the past year. If that strength of character and determination is anything to go by, your futures are very bright indeed, and we will enjoy watching your progress with interest. Goodbye, go well.
Dave Pitcairn
