Congregational Notice Official Notice of Congregational Meeting CONGREGATIONAL MEETING: December 10, 2023, following both worship services Zoom links enabling remote attendance will be sent to members on Saturday, December 9, 2023. Purposes of this meeting: Congregational approval of amendments to the Redeemer constitution approved and recommended by the Congregation Council Congregational approval of Redeemer's budget for 2024

-------------------------------------------------Recommended Constitutional Changes. The Congregational Council, at the recommendation of the Constitution and CR Committee, has passed a resolution to propose changes to the Redeemer (ELCR) Constitution. These changes include new language and clarifications to ensure Redeemer’s constitutional language is consistent with changes passed by the ELCA in 2022 in the “model” constitution for ELCA congregations. In addition, the Congregation Council is recommending changes to clarify the comprehensiveness of the annual budget. A list of the recommended changes can be seen in this document[Link] The full recommended changes can be seen in this document [Link] Approval of these amendments requires a majority vote of the voting members attending and voting at the meeting.

The ELCA changes will become effective upon approval at this congregation meeting. The amendment proposed by the Redeemer Congregation Council (C12.05.c) will require a ratification vote (2/3 majority) at the congregation's Annual Meeting in March 2024. The Council and C&CR committee will host listening posts following both services this Sunday, October 29 th (in person and with Zoom option) to hear comments and questions from the Congregation related to these changes. Congregational Budget for 2024. The proposed budget will be provided to the congregation in early November. The Council will host three sets of listening posts following both services on November 19th and 26th and December 3rd (in person and with Zoom options) to hear comments and questions from the Congregation related to the proposed budget.

Council elections began Sunday, Oct. 22 at 12:30 pm. This year’s Council nominees are: Pat Cornwell, Jeff Elkins, Terry Longstreth, Whitney Ludvigsen, Joel May, Karin Mayo, John Pearson, David Pendered, Janet Preston, and Anne Ridenhour. Ballots will be sent via Simply Voting on October 22 (due November 12 by 12:30 PM) and hardcopies (due November 10 by 5:00 PM). Out of the Darkness Suicide Awareness and Prevention Walk November 5th 1 pm Piedmont Park The Out of the Darkness Community Walk is a journey of remembrance, hope, and support in partnership with American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. The non-competitive walk route for Atlanta is contained inside Piedmont Park and is an estimated 1.86 miles. All registered walkers will be provided a boxed lunch for a picnic before the walk. Redeemer and Inspiritus The refugee family from Syria that Redeemer is co-sponsoring through Inspiritus has arrived! We welcome a Muslim family of 10. Housing is a real challenge, and we have yet to find an apartment to accommodate them. Please hold them in your prayers. We have several Redeemer members on the Refugee Committee. Pastor Jeff Linman and his wife Patti are our co-chairs, and Dorothy Beasley, James Belcher, Virginia Swezy, Sharon Hermann, and Paul Hermann are on the core committee.

Young Adults Kringles will return NEXT Sunday, November 5. Help support our youth to attend the ELCA Youth Gathering 2024 in New Orleans. This opportunity only comes every 3 years, and we have not been able to attend since 2018 due to COVID. Thanks for supporting our youth! High School Parents and Beyond will meet next Sunday, November 5 in Room 103. We will catch up and talk about the ELCA Youth Gathering. If you have any questions, please contact Carol McCloksey. Middle School Youth Group will meet Sunday, November 5. Hangout/games time before, lunch at 12 PM, and more games after! Let Hillary know if your youth(s) can attend as well as if you can help out with lunch. Youth Winter Service Project will be on Saturday, November 11 from 10-3 (with lunch in between) at Lutheranch. Our HS Youth Lock-In will be Saturday, November 11-Sunday, November 12. J.O.Y. Choir J.O.Y is an ensemble for Just Our Youth, grades 6-12. We meet on Sunday mornings 9:00-9:30 am.

Young Adults Young Adult Retreat November 17-18, the Redeemer Young Adults will gather at the Holy Trinity House at Lutheranch for fun, fellowship, and to explore faith together. We'll prepare simple meals together, enjoy the beautiful grounds at Lutheranch, and have opportunities for hiking, kayaking, and horseback riding. The retreat will be begin Friday evening and end Saturday afternoon, so you will still have half your weekend free.Register at this link.

Sunday Morning Faith Formation *Today, In Honor of Reformation: Reform your Prayer Life! Led by Pastor Mark | 10 am | Rudisill Hall and Zoom Martin Luther had an exceptional prayer life. It is not surprising that many of his students asked for advice on how to improve their own spiritual life. In two works, Little Prayer Book (1522) and A Simple Way to Pray (1535), Luther seeks to reform the theology and practice of prayer in clear and understandable language for all people by encouraging simple, direct prayer to God, who promises to hear the one who prays.

Conversation Study | Conference room Pr Jonathan's class uses the book by Brian McLaren called ‘We Make the Road by Walking’ which offers the opportunity each week to look at a scripture reading and using reflection present an introduction/reorientation to the Christian Faith. Please note that there is NO reading required to participate, nor is this a book study. It’s simply an opportunity to gather and grow together.
