Lutheran Church of the Redeemer’s Statement of Welcome

We serve a God of abundant grace and generosity Our worship is centered on the invitation that Christ offers at the communion table: all are welcome in this place. That welcome flows through all we do and say We open our arms to everyone who comes to share our love of God and all God’s people. We affirm and value the lives of everyone, including all who have been marginalized by ability, age, gender, gender identity, mental or physical health, poverty, race, sexual orientation, or any other circumstance Let our message be clear: all are welcome to participate fully in the life of our congregation.

Sixth Sunday after Epiphany Allison Lizdas, preaching

The theme of the Day Blessings and curses abound on the sixth Sunday after Epiphany. We would do well to listen closely to whom the “blessed ares ” and the “ woe tos” are directed and to find our place in the crowd among those who desire to touch Jesus. The risen Christ stands among us in the mystery of the holy supper with an invitation to live in him, and offers power to heal us all.

CONGREGATIONAL MEETING

| March 02, 2025

Lenten Small Groups

We are currently recruiting small group leaders for our annual Lenten small groups! This year we will be reading 'Belonging' by The Rev Dr Karoline Lewis, a Lutheran pastor and professor at Luther Seminary The book helps readers to understand and live out Christian discipleship in a way that is most deeply authentic for themselves. Pastor Lewis structures it around the story of the Samaritan woman at the well and guides the reader to discover deep connection with biblical characters who lead to selfdiscovery If you are interested in leading a small group, please contact Pr Jonathan at jtrapp@redeemer.org.

The LCFM team is grateful to everyone who participated in Souper Bowl Sunday! Together, you raised to support our mission that ALL ARE FED!!!

Mark Your Calendars for Hunger Walk 2025! Signup begin this Sunday in the Sims Atrium

The Atlanta Community Food Bank’s Hunger Walk Run is a celebrated annual event and community energizer, bringing people together in solidarity with a collective goal to end hunger On March 9, Team Redeemer will walk (or run!) to benefit our Lutheran Community Food Ministry, as well as the Atlanta Community Food Bank and Inspiritus Stop by the Hunger Walk table in the Sims Atrium on Sunday, February 9, to learn more about the 5K walk/run, starting from the Home Depot Backyard through downtown Atlanta.

This year we have a QR code to make registration for the event even easier You can also register any time at http://engage.acfb.org/goto/TeamRedeemer2025. The online registration rate for walkers is $30 and for runners is $40 And did we mention that everyone who registers to walk or run gets a special Hunger Walk Run T-shirt?

Donations to Team Redeemer are also welcomed and as an added incentive, the first $250 in donations will be matched 1:1. Last year we raised $2,750, which placed Redeemer in the top ten of the Lutheran Hunger Walk Run teams for 2024. Let’s see if we can reach $3,000 in 2025!

Sundays | 10 am | Rudisill Hall/ Zoom

& Wednesdays | 6 pm | Rudisill Hall/Zoom

As we begin a new church year during which most of our gospel readings will come from our third gospel, let’s explore together what makes Luke’s gospel unique. St. Luke tells the story of Jesus in clear, dramatically compelling, and humanly moving terms His Jesus is a man of great power, a deep sense of mis-sion, and profound compassion for those on the outskirts of society. And Luke's Gospel has the best stories--that is, parables--including a number that are unique to this gospel.

Unfortunately, the primary source of federal government to support refugee families invited to the US remains frozen. Refugee families still need your help. Now, more than ever, your support is essential in ensuring that newly arrived families have the resources they need to thrive: weinspirit.org/donate
