Ian Hunter´s wonderful Dirty Laundry album from 1995, will be issued for the first me as a limited edion LP via Big Dipper. The record features Hunter with Casino Steel, Darrell Bath, Honest John Plain and ex-Pistol Glen Matlock on bass and original Mo The Hoople sideman Blue Weaver plays keyboards on five tracks.

The album was produced by Bjørn Nessjø and was well received, thanks in part to excellent word-of-mouth and a hit single in ‘My Revoluon’. Aer Hunter and Steel agreed that Nessjø was the man for the job, they arranged a few rehearsals with the band before herding them to Abbey Road Studios in July of ´94 with engineer Rune Nordal.

The Norwegian producer had a reputaon as one who could use his arranging and orchestraon skills to create songs from slivers of musical ideas and meet deadlines. The result was a real cracker.

The special LP edion is pressed on heavyweight vinyl and comes with a gatefold sleeve with notes from Michael Monroe, Darrell Bath and Casino Steel. The outer sleeve has a brand new design.

Jim Ghedi & Toby Hay

Eponymous collaboration between Jim Ghedi & Toby Haytheir first since 2018's 'The Hawksworth Grove Sessions' and their debut for Topic Records. Postponed for two years due to the small matter of a global pandemic, finally, as some semblance of normalit y took shape, in February 2022, the duo headed into Giant Wafer Studios, mid -Wales, with very little rehearsal time and recorded the entire album live, with no edits or overdubs over three days.

Tracklisting:

Jim Ghedi and Toby Hay are both prolific, praised and established artists in their own right. Hailing from South Yorkshire, Ghedi's previous work has often been instrumental, exploring the natural world and his relationship to it, as seen on 2018's A Hymn For Ancient Land but also developing into using his voice, songwriting and traditional material on his more recent album, In The Furrows Of Common Place. Toby Hay, hailing from the Cambrian mountains, professes likewise, that the landscape serves as eternal muse and the spiritual groundwork of his entrancing guita r playing which has dazzled critics and listeners alike throughout his career. All of this makes their collaboration with the world's oldest independent label and custodians of UK folk music, Topic Records, a natural home for this exceptional record.

The album artwork includes beautiful liner notes by Andrew Male, senior associate editor of Mojo magazine .

Alex LoRe & Weirdear

Evening Will Find Itself

At the heart of saxophonist and composer Alex LoRe's music making is a fearless approach to exploring the fault lines and contradictions within his art: reconciling the timeless post-bop verities explored by his friends and mentors Greg Osby and Bunky Green with his own awareness of the possibilities of the seemingly opposite extremes of through-composition and freedom.

His Whirlwind Records debut Evening Will Find Itselfmarks a powerful step forward in his journey to reconcile these tensions to create a music that isn't limited by expectations, always centered around the unapologetic warmth and humanity of his own playing, and carried forward by his band of long - term musical partners: Glenn Zaleski on piano, Desmond White on bass and (relative) newcomer Allan Mednard on drums.

'This album is me trying to find some different sound worlds to exist in, striking a new balance between notated music and improvisation, giving the musicians freedom to explore those worlds'.

Naya Baaz (Rez Abbasi & Josh Feinberg)

Charm

Charm is the debut release from Naya Baaz - a groundbreaking new collaboration between two extraordinary musicians, both of whom have achieved a rare level of mastery in demanding musical traditions from opposite sides of the globe.

Recent Guggenheim Fellow, Rez Abbasi moved from Karachi to Californ ia as a child and has built up a formidable reputation as a guitarist who combines his love of jazz (evidenced on his last major release, 'Django - Shift') with an international array of influences from South Asia and beyond: Josh Feinbergis one of a handful of Western musicians to excel at the challenging legacy of the Hindustani sitar, specialising in the Maihar Gharana style from North India, and also a jazz bass player who studied with Paul Bley and Dave Holland.

"Josh earnestly understands jazz harmony and chromaticism as well as Indian musical traditions" says Rez 'That's a very rare combination'. Completing the endlessly flexible line-up are Jennifer Vincent's bespoke five-string cello, opening up possibilities to add both basslines and melodies, and Satoshi Takeishi's specially augmented drumset.
