The collection showcases an interesting mix of artists including important figures in contemporary art practice Mandy Schone-Salter and Gary Deirmendjian, as well as mixed media artist James Voller and digital animator James Price. Gary Deirmendjian’s silver cascade is a site-specific intervention of high kinetic and light sensitivity, affixed to the façade of P1 Car Park, directly above the main pedestrian Entry/Exit. On approach from any given direction, silver cascade presents a multilevel outpouring of shimmering silvery runoff that is activated by breeze and light, cascading unevenly and in great volume down the Car Park’s façade. James Price’s D’Arcy’s Digital Dream Quilt is a 3-minute looped animation that remixes the history of the Sydney Olympic Park community into a giant digital quilt. The work, created specifically for the Pullman Hotel projection site, consists of animated panels that together, form a long, vertical scrolling quilt. The animation begins as we watch D’Arcy Wentworth settle into sleep under his family quilt and the camera travels down Wentworth’s quilt as he dreams, sharing the story of the area in a single moment in time.
