The South Coast Writers Centre (SCWC) is excited to bring poets and songwriters into Wollongong Mall for the project, Say It Sing It. today. This recognition paved the way for land rights or Native Title. At 6pm there will be a show for all of the community. This show is “PAY AS YOU FEEL”. When you walk in you will receive an envelope and you decide what you can afford to pay or what you think the performance is worth. Enjoy the performances, the elders, the environment and the children who bring to life the stories from the past. Whatever is collected will go towards producing more local stories and performances. breakfast beans on toast Homemade baked beans on toast always tastes better with an egg on top! INGREDIENTS • 1 tablespoon olive oil • 1 onion, diced • cloves arlic finel chopped • rashers acon finall diced • 2 tablespoons Coles Brand Tomato Paste • 1 x 400g can tomatoes, diced • 1/3 cup brown sugar • 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar • Cannellini beans, drained, rinsed • Thick sliced toast, to serve • 4 poached eggs, to serve
METHOD Step 1 Preheat oven to 180C or 160C fan. Heat oil in a large, heatproof casserole dish to medium heat. Cook onion and garlic until translucent. Step 2 Add bacon and cook for 3-4 mins. Add beans, tomato paste, tomatoes, sugar and vinegar, stir to combine and cook in oven for 1 hr, 45 mins. Step 3 Remove from oven, stir through beans and cook for a further 15 mins. roasted nectarine breakfast bruschetta
Start this recipe a day ahead for a breakfast or brunch special enough to impress your guests. INGREDIENTS • 500g Coles Brand Greek-style Yoghurt • 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon • 1/3 cup (80ml) dark agave syrup, or Coles Finest Pure Canadian Maple Syrup • 6 (about 1kg) ripe yellow nectarines, halved, stoned • 1 teaspoon vanilla bean paste • 1/2 sourdough baguette, thickly sliced diagonally, toasted • Baby mint leaves, to serve Equipment • You will need a sieve and cookinggrade muslin cloth for this recipe. METHOD Step 1 Combine the yoghurt, cardamom, 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon and 2
tbs agave or maple syrup in a bowl. Line a sieve with muslin and place over a bowl. Spoon the yoghurt mixture into the sieve and lightly tie the edges together to enclose. Place the mixture in the fridge overnight to drain. Step 2 Meanwhile, preheat oven to 180C. Place nectarines, cut-side up, in a roasting pan. Combine the remaining agave or maple syrup with vanilla and remaining cinnamon. Drizzle over the nectarines. Roast for 25-30 mins or until tender. Set aside to cool slightly. Step 3 Spread the thickened yoghurt mixture over the toasted sourdough. Place on serving plates and top with nectarines. Sprinkle with mint leaves to serve. Source: www.taste.com.au

LAY SOME STEPPING STONES Creating a path in your garden with stepping stones not only looks great but will help you look after your lawn by keeping everyone off it. Stepping stones are easy to lay yourself and it’s a good idea to do this project before winter arrives and your lawn gets too wet to walk on. CLEAN OUT YOUR GUTTERS With winter and the rain approaching, it’s important to clean out your gutters. Gutters direct water away from your home and if you don’t clear debris out of them they could clog, which leads to rusting or water pouring over the sides of the gutter and onto your house. It’s also important to clean gutters because built-up leaf matter can pose a i fire ris . BRIGHTEN UP YOUR DECK Installing deck lights outside is a great way to create a nice ambience in your outdoor entertaining area. It will also improve your deck’s safety if you
have steps. It’s a simple project to do and one that you may not need an electrician for, depending on the type of lights you install.
