After being rescued by sea Captain Anthony, Todd returns to Fleet Street and sets up with Mrs Lovett, the local pie maker, whom he helps source the fillings for her pies. Along the way, Todd runs into some familiar London residents, as well as a new barber, new clients and a suspicious beggar woman. avocado and lime with bacon on toast

Layer smokey bacon and lime-infused avocado on rye for a triumphant breakfast idea. INGREDIENTS • 2 just-ripe avocados • 2 tablespoons lime juice • 175g thin bacon rashers • 8 thick slices rye bread • Butter or margarine, for spreading • Flat-leaf parsley sprigs, to serve

METHOD Step1 Halve, deseed and peel avocados. Slice lengthways into 1cm-thick slices. Place in a large bowl. Drizzle with lime juice. Season with salt and pepper. Toss gently to coat in lime juice. Set aside for 10 minutes. Step2 Meanwhile, preheat grill on medium-high heat. Cut bacon rashers in half. Remove rind. Place on grill tray

in a single layer. Grill for 2 to 3 minutes each side or until golden. Drain on paper towels. Step 3 Grill bread for 1 to 2 minutes each side or until golden and toasted. Spread lightly with butter. Place toast on plates. Top with avocado, bacon and parsley. Serve. Source: www.taste.com.au

cinnamon pikelets with strawberry jam and cream Keep the kids entertained - invite them into the kitchen to help make these delicious cinnamon pikelets. INGREDIENTS • 150g (1 cup) self-raising flour • 100g (1/2 cup) caster sugar • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder • 185ml (3/4 cup) milk • 1 egg, lightly whisked • 20g butter, melted • 1 teaspoon hot water • 2 teaspoons butter, extra • Icing sugar, to dust • 115g (1/3 cup) strawberry jam • 80ml (1/3 cup) double cream

METHOD Step1 Sift flour, sugar, cinnamon and baking powder into a bowl. Make a well in centre and add milk, egg, melted butter

and water. Use a wire balloon whisk to whisk until mixture forms a smooth batter. Step 2 Melt half the extra butter in a large non-stick frying pan over medium heat until foaming. Pour four 60ml (1/4-cup) quantities of batter around the edge of the pan and cook for 30 seconds or until bubbles appear on the surface and pikelets are golden underneath. Turn and cook for a further 1 minute or until golden. Transfer pikelets to a plate. Repeat with remaining butter and batter. Step 3 Divide pikelets among serving plates. aussie burgers Dish up an Aussie burger classic with all the extra trimmings for a victorious dinner. INGREDIENTS • 500g beef mince • 1 red onion, finely chopped • 4 WeetBix, crushed • 1/3 cup flat-leaf parsley leaves, chopped • 1 tablespoon tomato sauce • 3 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce • 1 egg, lightly beaten • 1 tablespoon olive oil • 4 large slices tasty cheese • 4 rashers bacon, rind removed, halved crossways • 4 hamburger buns, split, toasted • 1/3 cup whole-egg mayonnaise • 3 iceberg lettuce leaves, finely shredded • 2 tomatoes, thinly sliced • 4 slices canned beetroot • 4 canned pineapple rings METHOD Step 1 Combine mince, red onion, Weet-

Bix, parsley, tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, egg and salt and pepper in a large bowl. Using clean hands, shape mixture into four 2cm-thick patties. Place on a plate. Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes. Step 2 Preheat oven to 150°C. Heat oil in a large, non-stick frying pan over medium heat. Cook patties for 3 minutes each side or until almost cooked through. Step 3 Transfer patties to a baking tray. Top with cheese. Place in oven for 5 minutes or until cheese melts. Step 4 Meanwhile, add bacon to pan. Increase heat to high and cook for 2 minutes each side or until crisp. Step 5 Spread hamburger bun bases with mayonnaise. Top with lettuce, tomato, beetroot, pineapple, patties and bacon. Cover with bun tops. Serve.

portuguese chicken burger Fire up your grill to cook the tasty garlic, chilli and lemon marinated chicken for this burger. INGREDIENTS • 2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice • 1 teaspoon olive oil • 1/2 teaspoon dried hot chilli flakes • 1 small garlic clove, crushed • 1 (about 130g) chicken thigh fillet, excess fat trimmed • 1 tablespoon good-quality whole-egg mayonnaise • 1/4 teaspoon crushed garlic, extra • 1 crusty bread roll, split • 2 baby cos lettuce leaves, washed, dried • 1 small ripe tomato, thinly sliced METHOD Step 1 Place the lemon juice, oil, chilli flakes and garlic in a medium glass or ceramic bowl. Season with salt. Whisk to combine. Add the chicken and turn to coat. Cover with plastic wrap and place in the fridge for 10 minutes to marinate.

Step 2 Combine the mayonnaise and extra garlic in a small bowl. Taste and season with pepper. Step 3 Preheat a barbecue grill or chargrill on medium-high. Drain the chicken from the marinade. Cook on grill for 5 minutes each side or until chicken is just cooked through. Step 4 Meanwhile, preheat grill on high. Place the bread roll, cut-side up, on a baking tray and cook under the grill for 2 minutes or until toasted. Step 5 Place the bread roll base on a serving plate. Spread with half the mayonnaise mixture. Top with lettuce, tomato, chicken and the remaining mayonnaise mixture. Season with pepper. Top with remaining bread roll. Serve immediately. how to enjoy your outdoor area in winter Even if the weather is cold, you can still enjoy your outdoor area just as much as your indoors. There are plenty of ways to keep it warm and protected so that you can let the good times roll on all through winter. ROOFING Before you even think about heating, you need to protect yourself from the elements. Covering your outdoor entertaining area with a permanent roof will shelter you from rain and wind. Corrugated zinc steel roofs come in colours to suit any home. But you can also get translucent polycarbonate roofing in a range of colours, including clear, to let in more natural light.
