Business image and sustainability: a priority

By Adriana Gallardo

Having a positive image is crucial to being successful in the business world. Day-to-day problems have blinded us to a critical issue, sustainability. It is not news that, for the company to be profitable and self-sufficient, it must constantly update its business model, considering the context and the needs of both the environment and the customers.

Global warming, climate change, and the evolution of consumer purchasing behaviors loudly demand that we include in our companies strategies that allow us to be part of a circular economy, where we reduce waste to a minimum, with actions such as reusing, repairing and recycling materials and products to extend their life cycle.

By doing so, we generate a positive impact on the company’s image and support the care of the planet; In addition, we have an effect on that purpose that gives the company a reason for being and with which people generate stronger ties with the brand.

According to a study by IMOP Insights, only 30% of society is aware of this issue, and the majority believe that companies should take the first step. Even so, it is worth incorporating these strategies into our businesses, as consumers, little by little, have been increasing their loyalty to socially responsible brands.

To incorporate it, we must manage environmental factors (waste management), social factors (the relationship with different interest groups such as customers, suppliers, and partners), and governance (transparency and information management). This allows you to generate long-term value and attract new customers.

Some measures that can be incorporated to include sustainability strategies are including recyclable materials in the production of our products, combining the repair of products, or including the marketplace for industrial waste, which consists of selling materials left over from production to Let others take advantage of them.

Climate change and sustainability are already a priority. Sooner or later, it will be mandatory to incorporate these practices in companies. So let’s be first to market, take advantage of the competition and positively impact the planet with a compelling business image.
