Suri Alpaca The suri is a unique type of alpaca with a highly lustrous, straight fiber that hangs like dreadlocks. Much more rare than its cousin the huacaya alpaca (whose fleece is crimpy, giving it a fluffy appearance), suris comprise only about 2% of the world’s alpaca population. Our Moxi hat uses suri fiber grown & spun right here in the US. Our yarns are then dyed by hand in small lots, also in the US, and handcrafted one at a time in a specialty knitting workshop in Maine. Truly unique!
