Albert’s tuneful trunk! Neil Griffiths Illustrated by
Albert, the baby elephant, chooses not to listen to his mum and dad’s warnings and finds himself in a bit of a twist. Well, his trunk, to be precise! When the other elephants laugh at him, he lets out a blast that changes the way the whole jungle thinks forever. A terrific tale, that curls its way to a triumphant ending!

Albert liked following his mum by curling his little trunk around her tail. “Your trunk will stay curly if you’re not careful,” she warned. But Albert didn’t listen. He liked c url ing his trunk.
At night time, Albert liked to curl his little trunk around his dad’s tusk too. “Your trunk will stay cur l y if you’re not careful,” he warned. But Albert still didn’t listen. He liked c url in g his trunk, and anyway, it helped him drop off to sleep.
When Albert went to the watering hole to drink, he liked to curl his little trunk around his uncle’s big trunk. “Your trunk is going to stay like that if you’re not careful,” he warned. But Albert pretended he didn’t hear him. He liked doing it and enjoyed the way the water shot up his trunk and tickled him.
In fact Albert just loved to curl his trunk at any time!
Well, yes, you’ve guessed it. The day did finally arrive when, just as everyone had warned, Albert woke up and his little trunk wouldn’t straighten. “We warned you this would happen!” said his mum and dad, “but you just wouldn’t listen!”
His family did all they could to straighten it‌
…but it was all to no avail, as each time they let go, it just c ur l e d back up again!
