WELCOME
QUEENSLAND GAS 2015 ROBBY CLARK Director
On behalf of Reed Exhibitions, welcome to the 5th edition of the Queensland Gas Conference & Exhibition – QG 2015. Whilst this year’s event takes place in the shadow of a challenged natural resources industry, we are very pleased to bring you an outstanding and relevant-to-market conference program for 2015. This year’s conference program is once again structured around our four key pillars – Digital Gas Field, Drilling, Maintenance and Workforce – with a special emphasis on transition from construction to operations and maintenance for the Queensland industry. Key sessions of the free-to-attend conference program include: • Procurement and supply chain optimisation • Improving well performance • Groundwater monitoring and treatment methods • Operational safety and risk management • Integrity and asset management • Transition and the importance of the community and people • Operational Safety and Risk Management In addition to this conference program we are also pleased to present the popular half-day workshops on Advanced LNG Fundamentals and Maintenance Shutdowns. I would like to take this opportunity to extend our thanks and appreciation to all our exhibitors, partners and visitors, and a special thanks to our sponsors and strategic partners the Queensland Government, CRC Mining and Mining & Energy Services Council of Australia (MESCA). I hope your experience at QG 2015 is engaging, informative and productive. If you require any information or assistance during QG 2015 please visit our Customer Service Centre located at the entrance, where members of the Reed Exhibitions team will be more than happy to assist you.

EXHIBITION DIRECTORY 2015
MESSAGE
FROM THE MINISTER THE HON. DR ANTHONY LYNHAM MP Minister for State Development Minister for Natural Resources and Mines There’s no doubt the future is bright for Queensland’s gas industry. The International Energy Agency expects over the next 25 years that gas will become the first fuel globally. Queensland is in the enviable position of having more than 90 per cent of eastern Australia’s proven and probable CSG reserves – or 43,000 petajoules. In the space of six years our LNG industry has gone from an idea to a fully-fledged export earner with three LNG facilities on Curtis Island in Gladstone. On top of that, we have the vast petroleum and gas resources of the Cooper and Eromanga Basins in our south-west. They are considered among Australia’s most prospective and commercially-viable regions for deep gas and oil development. All of these resources are supported by pipelines, ports, rail lines, a highly-skilled workforce and a world-leading mining engineering technology and services sector. It’s critical that we maximise the potential of these resources – natural and human – and our world-class infrastructure into the future. Already, the LNG industry has generated investment of more than $70 billion, created more than 30,000 jobs during construction and injected more than $35 billion into local economies.
The Queensland Government is committed to regulating for sustainable development, fostering innovation and developing evidence-based policy to maintain Queensland’s globally competitive status as a supplier and as a leading investment destination. We are also mindful in this ongoing period of growth that we must look after our own domestic gas consumers. With this in mind, government is currently consulting with industry to develop a Queensland Gas Supply and Demand Action Plan to tackle the challenges ahead and attract the global gas investment we need. I expect to release the plan in the first quarter of 2016. For industry, the challenge is to maintain Queensland’s world-leading status through an ongoing commitment to innovation. In a truly global market for investors and customers, Queensland industry must continually seek and implement new and better ways of doing what they do. Now is the time to show the world what Queensland’s resources sector is capable of. The Queensland Government is proud to support the Queensland Gas Conference and Exhibition. It provides a valuable opportunity for industry to come together, to share ideas and to foster essential innovation. As you experience the 2015 Queensland Gas Conference and Exhibition, I encourage you to consider what can be done differently, and how we can innovate for the future.
THE HON. DR ANTHONY LYNHAM MP Minister for State Development Minister for Natural Resources and Mines

MAINTENANCE SHUTDOWNS
ADVANCED LNG FUNDAMENTALS
Workshop leader: John Bowie – Managing Director, Palm Crest When do we know we are Shutdown Ready When no two shut events are ever the same how do we leverage off the last event to improve the next? Where do we start and how do we capture everything that and engage everyone that needs to come together to set us up for the “Perfect Execution”
Welcome to the PalmCrest philosophy of Shutdown Readiness – In this workshop we will explore. • What is different today that adds a new level of complexity to our planning process • How we can mitigate issues despite a changing landscape • How we can truly learn and apply past findings to our next event despite constant change. • Defining the right planning horizon • Building a successful Shutdown Readiness methodology • Integrating Planning and scheduling to measure Readiness progress • How to achieve the optimal Plan. Having a solid “Shutdown Readiness” program is the first step to gaining control. No matter how small your Shutdown team is a well-defined Readiness program will move you from reactive costly planning to a measurable effective planning campaign with all the right controls, providing the best possible outcome for a successful launch of the shutdown/Turnaround event. This workshop will challenge the “norms”. John Bowie’s Shutdown Readiness philosophy is battle tested and proven in some of the most complex shutdowns around the world. Its grass roots background was developed by Planners, Schedulers and Supervisors at the coal face where things needed to work and work well. Over the years the Shutdown Readiness philosophy has been adopted and adapted by major companies throughout the world. Whether you are planning large scale complex shuts or high frequency short shuts this session will open your eyes and challenge your thinking beyond the standard ABCs of Shutdowns.
Understanding the LNG process: an interactive workshop focused on making sure attendees understand the critical issues and component parts of the LNG process. This learning session will give attendees a comprehensive overview of the LNG production process. Attendees will explore the detail of the process. It will feature an in-depth review of the process building blocks, with the intent of providing service companies with an insight to opportunities, energy company in house staff with an understanding of the critical issues and the public and financial sectors with the vocabulary of LNG. The session will concentrate on generating understanding of the process and its issues rather than mere description. Participants will leave the session with a clear understanding of the LNG process, the mission critical obstacles that need to be overcome in the Australian context of LNG and an idea of how their role can make a difference. This session includes catering.

SESSION 1: MAKE COST SAVINGS TODAY – BEST PRACTICE ENERGY PERFORMANCE IMPROVES PROFITABILITY TODAY The gas you burn as fuel in the production of LNG and domestic gas costs money. If you burn gas wastefully, you are wasting money. The gas you don’t burn as fuel is available as product, adding to your revenue. Conserving energy can therefore save money and make money. All without even mentioning the positive environmental benefits of energy efficiency. This may not be news to you, so why are even the best performers in the industry consuming 25% more energy than what is technically viable? KBC will show that by integrating all technical, organisational and behavioural change methodologies on a site/corporate wide basis will ensure that you deliver, sustain and continuously improve your site to leading edge energy performance and save you money TODAY. SPONSORED BY:
WORKSHOP ROOM 3: 3:05pm – 4:05pm (FREE to attend) Workshop leaders: Allan Rudman VP Energy Services, KBC and Howard Thomas Executive Consultant, Advisian
SESSION 2: DO YOU WANT TO WAIT TO LEARN FROM BIG DATA OR DO YOU WANT REAL TIME INFORMATION NOW? Improvements in energy performance have a direct and significant impact on profitability. KBC is driving a trend of focusing on operational savings, including the use of Energy Management Information Systems (EMIS) to track, develop, implement and sustain benefits. KBC will demonstrate how an EMIS can be tailored for individual sites to ensure best practice energy performance is achieved through the use of energy metrics that are essential for evaluating performance and driving improvement through the use of defined targets and calculated lost opportunity costs. KBC will discuss how a focus on smaller data sets using process models, knowledge of the plant and energy expertise can validate and confirm key energy interactions from big data predictive analytics. Delivering energy metrics with dynamic target setting and lost opportunity calculations guides operations in best practice energy performance resulting in reduced energy costs and bottom line savings.

Howard joined Exxon Chemical Olefins Inc. in 1989. His practical experience in process operations led to a rapid specialisation in process optimisation, taking his first ethylene plant from 1800 t/d to 2100 t/d without physical modification. These results led to a rapid progression within Exxon, eventually coupling reliability science with process modelling analysis to extend optimisation from the process, to a combination with maintenance, improving not only efficiency but also availability. To this day, ExxonMobil still follow these practices worldwide. Howard is by nature entrepreneurial and after leaving Exxon he learnt the ropes of consultancy before establishing his own businesses. His considerable skills bring a unique dimension to Hydrocarbons Operational Support.
