Welcome

It gives me great pleasure, on behalf of Reed Exhibitions Australia, to welcome you to the WA Mining Conference. This is our inaugural year for WA Mining and we look forward to supporting the Western Australia mining sector for many years to come. The WA Mining Conference joins two of Australia’s largest mining exhibitions, Queensland Mining and Engineering Expo and Asia Pacific’s International Mining Expo in the Reed Exhibitions portfolio. I would like to thank all of our exhibitors, sponsors, partners and speakers for your support of WA Mining and to all the delegates for taking time out of your busy schedules to attend this inaugural event. This year’s event showcases over 50 suppliers, that can help the WA mining sector reduce production costs, increase operational efficiencies and grow their operations into the future, offering an unparalleled opportunity for visitors to connect and interact with companies and their products. The WA Mining 2019 Conference has been developed with direct input and consultation from key mining personnel, industry associations as well as key mining companies. Innovation in the mining industry continues to accelerate at an unprecedented rate with Western Australia in many ways at the centre of this evolution. With the industry in the midst of significant transformation the rise and success of the next industrial revolution “Industry 4.0” will not happen without significant cross industry collaboration, technical innovation and industry buy-in. It is the complexities of this rapid rate of change and the key drivers that pushing the Western Australian mining industry to 2030 that will be examined at WA Mining.

4 • WA M I N I N G C O N F E R E N C E 2 01 9

WA Mining will host experts in the field of cyber security, automation, artificial intelligence and analytics and much more providing a truly unique opportunity to hear from the minds changing the way the industry operates. WA Mining would like to thank the conference sponsors Allied Pumps and Weir Minerals for their support and involvement. WA Mining will be technology centric with everything that Industry 4.0 delivers and enables. It will also be people centric with augmented human intelligence, machine learning, predictive analytics delivering enormous value and changing the way in which our organisations will operate and impacting the way in which we develop our human capital and the roles people will play in the future. WA Mining 2019 is a forum for the industry to progress this conversation and to envision how Australian mining and its overall ecosystem will be shaped in 2030. If there is anything you need assistance with during the WA Mining Conference please see the friendly team who are happy to help with any questions you might have. I trust you will have a productive and enjoyable event. Don’t forget that we have the industry networking drinks on Tuesday evening for you to spend some time with colleagues, customers and hopefully form some new contacts. Regards,
