WASTE19_4 2019-09-25T14:26:48+10:00
Welcome On behalf of Reed Exhibitions, it’s my pleasure to welcome you to the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre for this year’s edition of Waste Expo Australia, the largest gathering of waste management and resource recovery professionals in the country. This year we have enhanced the visitor experience by adding a third conference stage and two new streams to the Waste Summit program. During the course of the year, the Waste Expo Australia team have been engaging with industry stakeholders to ensure that we’re delivering the content that is important to you! This year’s free-toattend conference will focus on the future of waste and recycling and will feature 6 key industry themes, Resource Recovery, Waste to Energy, Collections, Landfill & Transfer Stations, Construction & Demolition Waste and Commercial & Industrial Waste. Thank you to our Waste Summit sponsor Oceania Clean Energy Solutions and our stream sponsors Cleanaway, Repurpose It, Major Road Projects Victoria and Orion Network. This year’s conference will feature over 100 of the industry’s best speakers and industry experts and will offer our delegates tangible solutions to the key issues facing the industry. After a successful launch in 2018, we’re excited to be hosting Wastewater Summit again this year. Last year’s program was driven by demand from our attendees who wanted to see more content in the wastewater space. Wastewater Summit was a huge success, attracting councils and water utilities from around the country. The 2019 program has been developed with extensive research and consultation with sector specialists and will see an increase in the number of sessions and speakers, revisit key issues with fresh perspectives, and consolidate some of the best innovations surrounding wastewater management. Hear from local governments, water corporations and industry leaders as they discuss policy updates and new schemes, share project concepts and developments, identify challenges and explore opportunities for the wastewater industry moving forward.
4 • WASTE EXPO AUSTRALIA 2019
It goes without saying that Waste Expo Australia would not be possible without the huge support from our local and international exhibitors. Their contribution is fundamental to the experience and value that we’re able to deliver to our attendees. This year’s event is the largest Waste Expo ever held and has attracted more exhibitors than ever before. Please take the time to walk round the exhibition floor where you can discover new products and solutions to solve the everyday challenges the industry is faced with. I would also like to thank our strategic partner Victorian Waste Management Association for their continued support of Waste Expo Australia. We value the close involvement of the association, in particular the guidance of Mark Smith. Mark’s wealth of knowledge and input has been invaluable in enabling Reed Exhibitions to create an event that is directly aligned with industry trends and business objectives. Thank you once again to all our visitors, exhibitors, speakers and partners. I hope you will all join us for a drink at the Waste Industry Networking Drinks at 5pm on Wednesday 23 October on the exhibition floor, providing a relaxed environment to network with your industry peers. I wish you all a successful and rewarding time at Waste Expo Australia and trust that you will meet many clients and colleagues, old and new, and that your participation will bring great value to your business.

Waste Expo Australia Delegates The Victoria Waste Management Association (VWMA) is Victoria’s largest industry based association in the waste and recycling sector. We seek to advance the interests of a sustainable, efficient and effective waste and resource recovery network that supports a thriving and booming Victoria. Our membership represents all segments of the waste and resource recovery sector including: transporters, processors, MRFs and landfills. We represent Victoria’s largest and smallest waste and resource recovery operators. Our membership includes: private operators, consultants, manufacturers, vehicle suppliers, legal firms, insurance firms, local councils, engaged communities/ individuals, social enterprises and more. The VWMA is a proud partner of Waste Expo Australia. We’re lucky to have Australia’s largest waste and recycling event located in Melbourne. Waste Expo Australia brings together an engaging blend of industry experts, suppliers thought provoking discussions and presentations on everything of importance or that’s impacting the sector today. We support Waste Expo Australia because of the relevance this national event brings to the Victorian landscape, it’s free access to anyone working in or with the waste and recycling sector, the great line up of speakers and topics discussed and the extensive showcase of industry suppliers exhibiting at the event. The venue is perfectly suited to massive crowds this event attracts annually (4,497 in 2018) and I look forward to sustained partnership with the team at Reed Exhibitions (Waste Expo organisers). I encourage you to attend and participate in all that’s on offer – you won’t have this kind of opportunity until October next year - and hope to see you there.

BioGone Stand: A132 Tel: 03 9676 9664 rossh@fieldtechsoln.com www.biogone.com.au BioGone uses a new technology to make virtually any plastic able to biodegrade in a landfill at substantially quicker times than conventional plastic. Items that would take 100’s of years will now biodegrade in approx 5% of that time. Landfill biodegradation allows the chemical energy of the plastic waste to be converted & used for power generation. Considering the state of plastic waste, this technology can play an important role in future plastic waste management. Since a large portion of our plastic waste goes to landfill, then targeting for it to biodegrade there, is a low cost option.
