IET FREE LECTURE: ROBOTICS IN EXTREME ENVIRONMENTS Harnessing the power of robotics to enable operations in environments so extreme, humans could not even wilfully venture - space, nuclear and deep subsea. The opportunity to exploit the power of robotics in these applications has been recognised by the UK Government, with “Robotics and Artificial Intelligence for Extreme & Challenging Environments.” forming a key element of the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund (ISCF), resulting in millions of £GBP funding being injected into the sector. Robots operating in these extreme environments face some unique challenges but also share many – extremes of temperature, pressure and uncertainty of position to name but a few.
OUR BREAKFAST SPEAKERS ARE: • Richard Harvey, global product manager, IMI Precision Engineering • Ronald Holden, divisional director, Servelec Controls • AEY Speaker • R2S Speaker
Register to attend at engeniousglobal.com/ Symposium/Business-breakfast/
The lecture aims to connect expertise from a range of these discrete industry sectors, to share problems, exchange solutions and create opportunities for horizontal innovation. Date: Wednesday 5 September Time: 1800 - 2000 Venue: AECC, Aberdeen

COMMITTEE
WELCOME FROM THE CHAIRS Dear Colleagues, Today, it’s no secret that our industry needs a new wave of productivity. We can no longer operate the same way – we must work smarter, operate more efficiently, and leverage advanced technologies to adapt to the reality of a lower-for-longer oil price environment. Digital industrial transformation isn’t just a buzzword, but a critical need for long-term sustainability in today’s dynamic market. But what does it mean? How do we move past the hype to achieve measurable digital outcomes? To answer these critical questions, this year we are launching a new SPE event- the ENGenious conference, focused entirely on the central theme of:
Together with our Executive Committee, we will ensure that every participant leaves with a newfound perspective on the future of digital in our industry. The conference will provide unique opportunities for fruitful debates, quality presentations, knowledge sharing and laying a new course of action that will shape the future of our industry. We encourage you and your colleagues to attend this great event and share your experiences with other forward-looking industry professionals. We look forward to seeing you in September.
“Re-imagining the oil and gas industry, unleashing the power of digital- today, tomorrow and beyond.” We are delighted to chair the conference and are looking forward to a great event. The timing is perfect to write a new chapter as the industry embraces one of the biggest challenges in decades that will contribute to a dynamic and sustainable future.

PLENARY SESSIONS DAY 1 - TUESDAY 4 SEPTEMBER Plenary Session 1: Defining the opportunity and seeing the changes underway both in and outside the industry (today). 1030-1050 Topic: Decoding Digital Transformation: What is it really? What’s already underway in our industry? And what are the roadblocks? BHGE, BP Fireside chat: Decoding Digital Transformation. The World Economic Forum states that the digital transformation of the oil and gas sector could represent $1.6 to $2.5 trillion in value for the industry, its customers and wider society by 2027. This fireside chat explores how that value will come to fruition, the technologies that will play a key role in making that happen, and what sort of digital transformation is already underway across the industry. Lastly, this beginning plenary session attempts to define the roadblocks standing in the way of capturing this value. Ahmed Hashmi, Global Head of Upstream Technology, BP; Matthias Heilmann, CEO of Digital Solutions and Chief Digital Officer, Baker Hughes, a GE company. 1050-1120 Keynote: Big Data Lessons for Industrial Businesses. The digital transformation of the oil and gas industry is far from unique. Rather, the role digital will play in helping oil and gas businesses face market challenges mirrors the transformations across many consumer and nonindustrial shifts. This keynote considers the use cases for digital across industries and explores the impact of digital technology applied at scale across the industrial sector. Malclom Frank, Chief Strategy Officer & Chief Marketing Officer, Cognizant 1120-1200 Emerging Technology: Following Investment to Innovation. As large industrial enterprises adopt digital technologies and look at transforming operations to avoid disruption, venture capitalists are rapidly flooding money into startups that are developing solutions for application across energy and other industrial verticals. From robotics and analytics to better connecting human capital to industrial jobs, the startup community has long realized the value in developing digital for industrial businesses. This panel considers the outside view of outcomes possible with emerging technologies and a look at how investment may indicate future trends. Moderator: Dan Brennan, Chief Marketing Officer and head of Strategy and Operations, BHGE Panellists: Dr. Stephen Cook, Chief Commercial Officer, Group Technology, BP Hans Middelthon, Managing Director, SAEV VC Europe David Millar, Technology Accelerator Director, The OGTC
