For the third year in a row, Reef hosted four legends to return us to the days of power and flow - surfers who have transcended four decades of waveriding.
Again it was 1999 World Champion and current Triple Crown competitor, Mark Occhilupo and three-time World Champ and benchmark of style, Tom Curren going blow for blow. Joining the fray this year was 1996 Triple Crown champ and runner up at the 2012 ISA World Masters Championships, Kaipo Jaiquias. Rounding out the field was all-time Triple Crown title leader, (five crowns) Mr. Sunny Garcia.
Curren bought his tight frontside attack strong to the second heat. But in the end, amounting the best four waves in one heat on each of the first two days of the Reef Hawaiian Pro, absolutely powering through pumping waves in the first day at Haleiwa to score him yet another title, was the true Hawaiian legend, Sunny Garcia. Check out the Reef 2012 Clash of the Legnds presented by Bud Light Lime.
