STYLE Dream Closet Transformation
Dream Closet Transformation

This article is a little different than my usual fashion-focused posts, but spring to me means a time of renewal. What better way to showcase that than with a recent closet refresh?! If you have a dark and dingy space in your home—now is the perfect time to organize and freshen it up!
When Eleesha with Bespoke Interior Design/The Creative Cleaning Co and Diana with Stor-X approached me about updating our bedroom closet, my initial reaction was that we didn’t need it. You know how sometimes you just get stuck going through the motions and do things the same way you always have even if there is a better way? That was me. My closet situation was far from perfect, but I just got used to dealing with how it was and hadn’t ever considered changing it.
After talking with Eleesha and Diana about their ideas and seeing a visual of what my closet could look like, I was blown away. Stor-X has an amazing 3D design program that allows you to visualize your dream closet coming to life. When Diana put in the dimensions of our space and shared with me exactly how she planned to improve on our closet space and aesthetic, I was ready to get started that day! We picked out finishes, hardware, belt and pant racks, a jewelry drawer and more that afternoon.
Each Stor-X project is a custom build, so I impatiently waited a couple months for my closet to arrive and when it did Diana and her team arrived to install it! It was quite possibly the happiest day of 2021 I have had so far.
This closet renovation was a group effort made possible by some great women owned and operated companies that work together in The Design Hub. The Design Collective brought in a gorgeous textured wallpaper to add dimension, pattern, and character to the back wall of our closet. Bespoke Interior Design offered their design recommendations and sourced items such as the velvet hangers and rattan baskets. The Creative Cleaning Co taught me how to properly fold all my clothing to optimize space and painted and prepared our closet before install day (AND ironed my husband’s dress pants!).
I feel so blessed to have been presented with such an amazing opportunity to work with these incredible women. It was such a transformation and I still cannot believe they were able to make my closet dreams come true! Kiteen and her family live in Weyburn. She’s a proud mother to Violet and Leo and wife to a hard-working farmer. Kiteen’s obsessed with floral prints, things that sparkle, earth tones and of course, greats deals on good quality clothing! Birds of a Feather
The Design Hub Brings the Experts Together
By Brook Thalgott
Design Hub
If you have ever embarked on a major home project, you know that involves a lot of decisions and a lot of people to breathe life into your endeavour.
A group of local women entrepreneurs have come together in the Design Hub to make your home (or commercial) design journey easy, creative, and rewarding. This one-stop shop can save you a ton of time, and provides the guidance, products and services you need.
This one stop shop concept was created after Shannon Forrester, owner at Floor Coverings International, realized she was referring to and working with her other friends in the home improvement business for most of her projects. “After a few glasses of wine one night, the hub was created,” says Shannon. “Everyone took a leap of faith, renting a large commercial space to offer a showroom and area for clients to see products and meet with builders and other designers.”
The response to the Design Hub has been amazing and surpassed all of their expectations and goals. “We love that we get to work together, but also that we have created a space that helps our clients to make decisions in an easier less stressful way,” says Shannon. “We are your destination for everything home—flooring, tile, area rugs, cabinets, blinds, draperies, wallcoverings, countertop, paint, custom furniture and interior design.”

SHANNON FORRESTER
Let’s meet the people who are ready to help you create the space you have always dreamed of.
Shannon has been living and breathing flooring, tile, and rugs for four years. As the owner of Floor Coverings International, she is on the road across southern Saskatchewan, working with customers on their design projects.
The Floor Coverings International team bring their showroom to you, travelling with 3,500 samples (plus many more at the Design Hub) to find the flooring and tile you need. “We’re on the go, bringing samples that we can work with your vision and the space,” says Shannon. “You don’t have to travel from big box store to big box store, wondering which floor covering or tile will work.” Instead, you work with the team in the comfort for your own home, getting their professional advice on what flooring or tile you need. Plus, their design planning is free. “We don’t let you go it alone,” says Shannon. “We make a plan with you that works with your taste, style and budget.”
Once you’ve made your choices, Shannon and the team handle measuring, ordering, shipping and even installation. Floor Coverings International has professional installers at the ready, and they’ll even install baseboards and heated floors. Need a backsplash, shower, or other tile project? No problem. “We also design backsplashes or tile work in kitchens, bathrooms, foyers and more,” says Shannon. “As always, the design is included at no additional charge.” Floor Coverings International also carries a large selection of area rugs to complement your flooring and will work with you to find the size and style for your space.
Perhaps best of all, Shannon can help you work with the other Design Hub businesses, to bring the facets of your project together. “Because we’re in the same building, we can take your flooring choices over to Erica to pick your window treatments, work with Eleesha on your overall interior design, see what Diana has planned for your closets, or match your new wallcoverings with help from Juliesa,” says Shannon. “Our coming together into one space saves our clients so much time and money, plus they can see us together.”

CARVED IN STONE
Find Timeless Looks for Your Home at CNG Stone
When planning a home renovation or new construction, choosing countertops is one of the many decisions you’ll make. The right countertop can pull a room together as well as be a stunning showpiece in your home. There are plenty of countertop options out there and none may be more popular and beautiful than granite and quartz. Both provide a timeless yet modern look to any space. Whether you’re looking to renew the kitchen, the bathroom or even the fireplace, stone is a terrific choice.
Regina’s CNG Stone Products is your one-stop shop for all things granite and quartz. The company works hard to provide the best selection of stone in the city, and the only way to genuinely appreciate their stones is to see them in person. “Our granite and quartz choices have to be seen to be believed. We have over 500 slabs in stock,” says Ashley Martin, Office Manager at CNG Stone.
While granite is still a popular choice for countertops, quartz has rapidly become a wonderful option. Quartz is great for everyday use, with excellent durability and marble-like good looks. Marble may be beautiful but it’s too soft and easily scratched—whereas quartz has a marble look without marble’s trouble spots. Whatever you’re looking for, whether granite or quartz, CNG Stone is home to dozens of colours of granite and hundreds of colours of quartz. If CNG Stone doesn’t have what you want in stock, they can find exactly what you’re looking for.
Once you’ve found the right stone for your project, the CNG Stone team cut your stone to their exacting standards. Every piece is measured with a laser, ensuring the template is perfect. Once measurements are done, each piece is fabricated to ensure nearly invisible seams and a perfect fit. Installation is handled the same way with the same care. Each job managed cautiously from start to finish.
Eleesha Jensen knows about the quality and selection of stone available at CNG. She has worked with CNG with her interior design clients, and in her own home. “I have had the opportunity to work with CNG as both a customer and a design professional in our multiple locations—Regina, Weyburn and Tisdale. They have great service and create an easygoing environment for their clientele,” says Eleesha. “That is why I chose to trust them in my own home in Weyburn, to create a space for my family to gather around, as I have seen them do so many times in the past.”
Amanda Brady echoes Eleesha’s sentiments. “We’ve been working with CNG Stone almost exclusively for a couple years now, and the client experience is fantastic. The team is very knowledgeable, and they are personable and great with clients,” says Amanda. “I have also been a CNG Stone client for my own home and my own personal experience was nothing short of amazing.” Brandon from North Construction Group also has much to say on a kitchen project with CNG Stone. “Putting in a beautiful piece of natural stone is the heart and soul of your kitchen. Seeing the granite for the first time is truly an Oh-my-God moment,” says Brandon. “CNG Stone works with us to ensure customer expectations are always exceeded.” He also notes their huge slab yard and the customer’s ability to select their stone from a huge selection of in-stock choices. “They have more stone selection than I could ever imagine. It seems like every day there is a new semi-load delivering new slabs,” he says.
Open Monday to Friday from 8 am to 5 pm and Saturday from 9 am to 1 pm, CNG Stone Products is ready to help you find the perfect stone for your project. Visit them at 1445 Scarth Street, online at cngstone.com and follow them on Facebook and Instagram.
