Dear Home, We Should Hang Out More
2021 Home Trends

With trends evolving and new textiles, patterns and fabrics making their way to us this spring, let’s take a look at the top trends for 2021 to make your home your personal retreat.
After a year that guided many of us to spend more time at home, going back to basics such as baking, extra DIY projects and more, 2021 is an opportunity to bring comfort and creativity to our living spaces. Let’s see what works for you in and outside your home!
Plenty of Plants
In 2020, plants were on trend and there is no end in sight. Let’s keep the trend of ‘plenty of plants’ going strong.
Houseplants are good for your health— and not just for their visual beauty. They do the opposite of what we do when we breathe. Plants release oxygen and absorb carbon dioxide. This not only freshens up the air, but also eliminates harmful toxins. Sign me up for anything that is aesthetically beautiful and keeps my lungs healthier.

Let the Light In
One of the easiest ways to have a more peaceful vibe in your home is maximizing natural light.
Exposure to natural light helps our bodies produce vitamin D, improves our circadian rhythms, and sleep patterns. It also helps us to focus, enables us to get more done, and even makes us happier. And it helps with that dreaded power bill.
A Room for Everything
When spending more time at home, it makes more sense to dedicate that space to numerous purposes. Crafts, sewing, painting, meditation, an office… the options are endless. Do you use your garage? Turn it in to a She Shed, a Man Cave or both.
A garage can feature a seating area, a full-service bar and abundant storage,
including wine cabinets and a beverage fridge. If the TV doesn't keep you entertained, there's always pool, the piano, darts and more. Since it’s a safe guess to assume 2021 will have us staying home a bit, give yourself some fun multi-purpose spaces.
Earthy & Natural Tones
Let’s return to natural and have some earthy vibes throughout our home this year. Earthy colour trends are such warm and comforting colours to incorporate in your home.
As we continue to spend more time than usual indoors, many of us are craving a greater connection with nature—not just when we're lucky enough to get out and about in it, but when we come home as well.
If earthy tones are not your deal, bring in some pops of colour. Throw a few emerald green pillows in your living room if it makes you happy. The trendy colors of spring and summer 2021 reflect naturalness and ease. While keeping lines clean and modern, it is a great way to straddle minimalist and maximise aesthetics.
Country Chic
Farmhouse won't be out of style anytime soon, but a new decor cousin is now on the scene and getting lots of attention. It's called country chic.
It has the same warmth and comfy feel of farmhouse but is not so nicked up, distressed and painted. A wander through warm amber tones, mellow meadow prints and beautiful embroidery. Mix and match natural textures for a cozy and inviting look that lift both home and spirit.
Get Outside
As much as we all love to get cozy in the living room and lounge around in bed, a backyard is a true sanctuary— especially if it's prepped with all the right backyard bells and whistles. Indeed, your outdoor space can be just as inviting, comfortable, and stylish as your interiors, but it also offers fresh air and nature. It's the best of both worlds. From manicured landscapes to stately patios and above or inground pools, you can create a lot with little space.
Get out everything you need for s’mores, get outside, and fire up that firepit. Spend your summer jumping on a trampoline, cooling off in a pool, or lounge in a hammock. Make the best of your spring and summer!

Proud to be Part of Your Hometown for 50 Years
It’s been 50 years since Lawrence and Phyllis opened Weimer’s Radio & TV. A move to 2nd street added Doug and Brent to the Weimer’s family business. When Lawrence decided to take a step back, Brent and Doug took over the business and became Weimer’s Electronics. Doug would be lured away to become an instructor at SIAST, but Brent and Gayleen remained to build the business even more. Twenty years ago Brent and Gayleen saw an opportunity and purchased Hometown Furniture and created the Weimer’s Hometown you know today.
We have had the privilege of serving the Weyburn area as a family business for 50 years. During these trying times, our customers have supported not only us but other businesses in Weyburn and we can’t thank you enough.
We welcome everyone to come in and see what’s new in-store. See you soon!

A CLEAN BREAK
Storage and Organizing Tips for Spring Cleaning
As spring arrives, it’s time to tidy up and put away everything that screams winter. Here are a few tips to help you get your spring cleaning underway:
• Make a plan. A good spring cleaning will take time. Think about what you want to accomplish, set some goals, and be realistic about the work that needs to be tackled. • Know where you can store your stuff. Check out your closets, drawers, shelves, and cupboards.
Think strategically—you might find places you never thought of using. • Keep track. Think about what you need to store, and how often you need to access it. Your airfryer or slow cooker may come out of the cupboard once a week, but your
Hallowe’en decorations come out once a year. • Start small. A big job can be overwhelming, so pick one small project and start there. Find a drawer or closet, and work through it. You’ll find your stride as you see your success. • Keep, store, donate and toss.
Organize your clutter into those four categories and show no mercy. You’ll never truly declutter if you don’t see stuff leave the house. • Decide between needs and wants.
Do you really need that? Or are you hanging on because you want to, but aren’t sure why? Good organization comes with really understanding what you need and getting rid of what you don’t. You’ll feel so much better knowing what you do have is what you want and getting rid of the
‘dead weight’ you don’t. • Find a home for it. Once you know what is staying, make sure it has a place to go and everyone in the house knows. That can cut down on the inevitable “have you seen the…?” or “where is the…?” questions. • Unload it. Even if you don’t want it, someone else might. Facebook buy and sell groups, charities, garage sales and the local recycling organization will happily take your stuff. • Keep it up. Good habits take time to build and it’s easy to undo your hard work. Put things away now, not later.
Make decluttering a regular habit.
Once you have your home organized, stay on course. • Enjoy your sense of accomplishment.
When you’re done the work, be proud of yourself. It’s a big job, and when it’s done, you’ll love the feeling you’ll get when you see a tidy, wellorganized home. Good job!
