Payment Policies PAYMENTS — Advertisers can make payments by cash, check, cashier's check, money order or credit/ debit card (
). A $30 service charge will be assessed for returned checks. Checks
will not be accepted from advertisers that repeatedly write returned checks. A business contact form must be completed for The Reflector to keep on file. PREPAYMENT — All payments for advertising must be made in advance of publication unless The
Reflector's business manager and advertising manager approve credit. Prepayment is required for advertising from new businesses, out-of-state advertisers, political advertisers, campus organizations without Banner accounts, going-out-of-business advertisers and/or transient advertisers. Credit will not be given to these advertisers. If advertisers reserve space for ads and payment is not received before the advertising deadline, the advertisement will be pulled. The advertiser will then be charged for The
Reflector's loss of revenue from the ad space that was reserved. The advertiser will not be able to place future advertising until the charge is paid. LOCAL ADVERTISERS — To be considered for credit, established customers of a year or more can complete a credit application for submission to the business manger. Decisions of the business manager and advertising manager can be appealed to the upper management of The Reflector.
For customers approved for credit, statements are sent the first of every month. Payments are
expected within two weeks after statement is received. For advertisers who do not pay within 15 days of receiving a statement, finance charges will be added for each month past due and advertising may be subject to suspension. NATIONAL ADVERTISERS — National ad agencies can apply for credit with The Reflector. The business manager and the advertising manager will decide whether credit will be given. Any business using an outof-state ad agency will be charged the national ad net rate. AD CANCELLATIONS — Advertisement cancellations or rescheduling will be made at no charge if made before ad placement deadline. Advertisers who cancel or reschedule after the placement deadline will be responsible for payment of ad space reserved.
4
Advertising Policies POLITICAL ADVERTISMENTS — ALL political ads are accepted but must be paid in advance. The words “paid for by (name of organization)” must appear prominently within the ad. MAKEGOODS — Claims for adjustments for errors in advertising must be brought to the attention of the advertising manager upon receipt of proof of publication. Claims must be made before the next statement is sent. Credit will be given for the first incorrect insertion only. The Reflector’s advertising manager will determine adjustments based on the severity of the error. Credit will not be given for misspelled words. The Reflector is not responsible for incorrect camera ready ads submitted by the advertiser. COPY RESTRICTIONS — The Reflector reserves the right to censor, edit or reject any advertising that violates any Reflector or university policy. In cases of questionable material, the editor or advertising manager will attempt to contact advertisers to discuss significant changes. If the advertiser cannot be contacted before the publication deadline, the ad will be pulled. The editor in chief reserves the right to reject any ad based on content. Ads must be in accordance with general policies on Reflector content; i.e. no libel, no advertising for services or goods prohibited by law, no misappropriation. Call the editor with questions or comments about content at 662-325-7905.
The Reflector does not accept advertising for mail orders, adoptions ads, tobacco, term paper
research, inmates seeking pen pals, personal ads and online gambling sites.
Advertisements for hard liquor, wine and beer are allowed. The ad must be tasefully created, however,
and must not encourage alcohol abuse, portray drinking as a solution to a problem, offer alcohol at a nonlicensed establishment or promote risky behaviors — health or sex related. Examples of unacceptable advertising include, but are not limited to, any ad with the word "drunk" or any of its derivatives and ads that promote "drink 'till you drop" behavior. The ad may contain cover charges, entertainment specials, food and drink prices and "theme nights."
The Reflector will not run ads that — through photography or artwork — inappropriately expose the
genitalia and buttocks of men or women, breasts of women, or suggest to such. The Reflector reserves the right to reject sexually exploitive materials of any nature.
No policy can list all guidelines for acceptable and unacceptable ads. The Reflector encourages
advertisers to exercise good judgment and good taste.

FIGURING AD SIZE & COST Use the two charts on these pages to decide what ad size and/or cost best fits your advertising budget. Costs for each rate has been figured for each ad size offered by The Reflector. Example If you qualify for a local rate ad that costs roughly $50, you can look at the chart and find that you can purchase 10 column inches of ad space. By looking at the chart, you will notice that three ad sizes correspond to this same rate. For $60, you can place either a 1x10, 2x5, or 5x2 camera ready ad.
LATE AD REQUESTS Ads can be added after the deadline for an additional $50 at the discretion of the Advertising manager.
AD POSITION Ad position can be guaranteed for an additional $50 fee. All positions must be approved by the ad manager before agreement is finalized.

Four-Color Process
The Reflector is printed by using a four-color process, which uses various values of Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Key (black) to create the multitude of colors needed to print photographs, advertising and general needs. Spot Color is the use of only one or two of the primary colors, which can also be used to create secondary colors. Because of the range of values from 1 to 100, several shades of colors can be created with either one or two spot colors. Full color allows you to make any combination of these four colors to make whatever hue you would like. To qualify for one color, an advertisement must only use either Cyan, Magenta, or Yellow. To qualify for two colors, an advertisement may use any combination of two of these three colors. The CMYK values The Reflector uses for Maroon are: C = 25 M= 100 Y = 60 K = 48
