In keeping with its mission as a community-based art institution, the Edward E. Parker Museum of Art continues to explore ways to enrich the lives of artists, art students, patrons of the arts, and scholars whose research in the humanities relies upon collections that relate to the history of art. To that end, in recent months both Prof. Edward E. Parker and Museum Scholar Dr. Regennia N. Williams held preliminary discussions with the Cleveland Public Library’s Mr. Chatham Ewing (pictured above with Prof. Parker at the December 15, 2018, Holiday Open House event) about the museum’s manuscript collections and efforts to document the institution’s history and its ongoing work.

Save the Date! Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Monday, January 21, 2019 -- Noon to 5:00 p.m., FREE! Join us as we celebrate the life and legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with a special exhibition of Prof. Parker’s drawings of Dr. King and other museum activities. See page 4 for more information. 1

WINTER 2016

EEPMOA

Events Focus on Art and Health Kudos to Dr. James Foy, D.C. for organizing the October 6, 2018, Alternative Health Fair. Dr. Foy, who serves on the governing boards for the Snickerfritz Cultural Workshop for the Arts and the Edward E. Parker Museum of Art, is a proud supporter of events that promote an appreciation for the arts and the health and wellbeing of the members of our community. Special thanks to everyone who participated in the December 2018 Holiday Open House activities, including the friends of the museum who are pictured on pages one through three. Guests enjoyed free admission, great art, and were able to receive free copies of poster-size prints by Prof. Parker, including those of “Stove Pipe the Master Clown” (pictured on the left) and “Malcolm X.”
