December 2013 Newcastle MP joins Regent Farm First School Christmas celebrations
Newcastle North MP, Catherine McKinnell, joined parents, pupils and staff at Regent Farm First School last week (13 th December) as part of their Christmas celebrations. Catherine was invited to visit the school by headteacher, Deborah Ashcroft, to hear more about the school’s significant progress in recent years. She also met with parents, pupils and staff at the school’s Christmas Fayre, before enjoying the final performance of the Key Stage 2 nativity play, ‘A Midwife Crisis’. Catherine came face to face with a reindeer for the first time too, which was visiting the school for the Christmas Fayre alongside Father Christmas himself. Catherine said: ‘I had a really magical visit to Regent Farm First School, and it was a privilege to join pupils for their Christmas celebrations. The school has made such fantastic progress in recent years, and I am pleased to be able to support them in any way I can. ‘The nativity performance was one of the best I have ever seen, and pupils and staff had clearly worked very hard over recent weeks to make it happen.’ Headteacher, Deborah Ashcroft said: ‘We were delighted that Catherine found time in her busy schedule to join in our Christmas festivities. I would like to say ‘thank you’ to the whole school community who have worked incredibly hard to make Regent Farm a lovely place for our children to learn. Many thanks to Catherine for showing such genuine care and interest in our school.’
Please remember that school closes at the earlier time of 2.30 pm tomorrow. Regent Farm reopens on Monday 6th January at 8.50 am. All the staff and children at Regent Farm wish all our families a wonderful Christmas and a very happy New Year!
