To be responsible for the overall pastoral care and supervision of the Boarders. 2. To lead and manage all staff working in the boarding house so they carry out their duties effectively and efficiently. Pastoral Care of Boarders 1. 2. 3. 4.
To be responsible for the care, and supervision of all Boarders in the house. To be aware of and implement the school rules. To ensure the Boarders have all the items they require for the school day. To contribute to the induction of all new Boarders joining the house to ensure that any issues are discussed and resolved and to report any such issues to the HOB. 5. To provide a sympathetic presence in the Boarding house and to be sensitive to those who are having difficulties adapting to boarding life or school. 6. To be responsible for the welfare, happiness and every day discipline of Boarders and to be seen as consistent and fair in all matters. 7. To initiate and participate in activities for the Boarders throughout the week and to facilitate the involvement of all Boarders in activities.
Health, safety and medical 1. To be responsible for the general health and well-being of those in the boarding house 2. To respond immediately and effectively to medical emergencies in a manner as outlined in the School Boarding House Policies. 3. Be responsible for ensuring Boarders keep routine appointments and escort Boarders as required to the hospital. This also includes dental visits. 4. To be familiar with and implement the School’s Code of Practice for Health and Safety and all other relevant policies. 5. To observe and ensure that each Boarder adapts a healthy eating regime. 6. To ensure that all Boarders follow a healthy and hygienic personal care regime. Domestic 1. At the end of term supervise the clearing away and safe storage of Boarders’ belongings; the cleaning of the Boarding house; to carry out a check of all bedding, furniture, fixtures, and fittings. Ensure a list of all repairs and maintenance items is accurate. 2. To supervise, at the start of the new term, the preparation of Boarders’ bedrooms and to ensure that all areas are provisioned adequately. 3. To carry out a check on furnishings to ensure that the furnishings are in good condition and to report any deficiencies or necessary repairs. 4. To ensure that repairs are carried out and that rooms are clean and presentable.

To be aware and knowledgeable of all Boarding Policies and the standards of the Boarding School Association and to put them into practice. 2. To maintain the regulations necessary for an orderly boarding community environment. 3. To liaise with other Houseparents regarding Boarders’ trips (often at weekends). 4. To assist with the administration of cash / valuables in and out of the safe and to ensure that the cash withdrawal sheets are presented on time and are correctly named and correlate to the cash withdrawal. 5. Collect all travel details to help ensure airport transport is arranged correctly. 6. Ensure visa, passports and airline tickets are stored safely. 7. Be proactive in collecting and recording information for the Boarders’ termly newsletter. 8. Identify and arrange any ad hoc staff changes for teacher led weekend and prep activities.
