The Key stage Coordinator is responsible for the pastoral care of all children and teachers within the Key Stage. The Key Stage Coordinator is responsible for standards of teaching and learning. The Coordinator will support the Principal, Head of Primary and Deputy Head of Primary in upholding the philosophy of the School and will have delegated authority to lead the Key Stage to which they have been assigned. The Coordinator shall act as an exemplary model to all staff in the Key Stage in terms of outstanding teaching practice and classroom management. T he duties of the K ey Stage C oor dinator ar e:
G ener al:

Oversee the orientation and induction of new students, teachers, teaching assistants and support staff in the Key Stage. Assess trial day students in liaison with the Deputy Head of Primary and ensure all assessment materials are passed to the Head of Primary in good time. Be responsible for the day-to-day management of all staff in the Key Stage. Work collaboratively to ensure the smooth transition of students between Key Stages. Ensure collaborative planning between class teachers, teaching assistants and EAL teachers takes place within the Key Stage. Attend planning meetings when necessary. Monitor the long, medium and short term planning for the Key Stage and provide support when needed. Monitor the teaching and learning in the Key Stage. Coordinate all Key Stage trips. Lead Key Stage assemblies. Take responsibility for the performance management of assigned colleagues. Monitor the home-school books within the Key Stage on a half-termly basis. Lead Key Stage meetings of teachers and teaching assistants and distribute minutes to all members of the section and PMG. Lead a weekly Teaching Assistant meeting within the Key Stage in order to ensure all relevant information is disseminated and to support their ongoing development. Attend PMG meetings as required.
Pastoral: • • • • •
Take day- to-day responsibility for behaviour management within the Key Stage, referring to PMG as appropriate. Ensure all the staff in the Key Stage are implementing established pastoral policies. Be responsible for the pastoral care of all children and teachers within the Key Stage. Ensure that appropriate records are kept by all teachers and that information is shared with colleagues as necessary. Liaise with the EAL, Gifted and Talented and Learning Support Coordinators and the school Counsellor to ensure that all children receive appropriate support. Liaise with PMG in accordance with school policies.
R epor t to Par ents: • •
Ensure that reporting deadlines are met by all teachers in the Key Stage and that sufficient time is allowed for the Head of Primary to read and comment upon every student’s report. Contribute to the proof reading and editing of end of Term reports.
R esour ces: • • • • • •
Undertake an annual audit of the equipment purchased with the Key Stage budget. Coordinate the Key Stage inventory and ensure new resources are catalogued appropriately. Take responsibility for managing the storage and organisation of Key Stage based resources. In the light of this audit, prepare an assessment of the needs of the Key Stage for the following academic year. This should be submitted to PMG by January each year. Within any agreed financial limitations established by the Head, prepare and submit to PMG orders for all subject purchases. Keep records of all purchases to inform budget planning. Manage the Key Stage’s resources prudently and equitably, ensuring that any established financial boundaries are maintained. Work collaboratively with Subject Coordinators to order resources for each subject area within the Key Stage.

Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop and maintain the whole-school assessment policy, outlining the principles and practices which will provide consistency throughout the school and age-appropriate and varied methods of assessing students’ learning and performance. Oversee the record keeping in the Key Stage and ensure that student assessment is used to inform planning.
