FROM OUR FOUNDER & CHAIRMAN

I

would like to take the time to extend a warm welcome to you and your family. Over the past 20 years I have proudly watched visions and missions in education grow and prosper to what it is today through The Regent’s International School. Of course, not without the full help and support of top quality teachers, and the utmost dedication of our students. Each child who has passed through

Regent’s doors has something special to offer. Nothing surpasses the feeling that occurs when alumni resurface to share their successes – from Oxbridge and Ivy League graduations to ministry appointments in their native countries. Rest assured that your child will see similar success and leave us with a “good head (technical skills), good heart (life skills) and good hands (career skills)”.

e offer a broad, stimulating and enjoyable curriculum which challenges and supports all students irrespective of gender, religion, race or culture. We offer the best of British education with modern holistic teaching inspired by the Round Square philosophy so that our students’ educational journey is enriched by global experiences.

With 30 different nationalities here at Regent’s, we celebrate our international diversity and create a community through the shared speaking of English. Ultimately, we believe and uphold the belief that with the right balance of care, guidance and knowledge each child has the ability to achieve more than they thought they could.

Our staff’s commitment and dedication to the students set us apart. They are there to ensure students reach their highest potential

R e g en t ' s Teachers

Our teachers are the backbone of

the school and fully embrace their role as the providers of knowledge with dedication and commitment to ensuring our students are a community of life-long learners. We hire experienced and fully qualified teachers from native-English speaking countries; they all possess passion, drive, superior knowledge and teaching expertise in their particular field.

Teaching staff have UK accredited Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). We have rigorous selection procedures and a lower staff turnover than most international schools. All teachers come to us with a variety of personal achievements and interests that add greatly to the breadth and depth of our curriculum.

Regent’s

Early Years sees fully qualified teachers commit themselves to the healthy development and growth of children aged 2-5 years old. The classes are split into three groups, Pre-Nursery, Nursery and Reception, and each child benefits from the care and attention they receive from

both their class teachers and teaching assistants in small classes. We believe that creative learning is key to a child’s healthy development and therefore place emphasis on teaching through active play in their own dedicated play area and vibrant and engaging classrooms.

From a young age our students are taught to speak up and express themselves with confidence

Small class sizes means each child gets the attention they deserve from our dedicated teachers and teaching assistants

PRIMARY

The Primary School attends to each

child’s individual needs to learn, explore and grow. As a school we firmly believe that learning should be fun, relevant to the child, hands-on and engaging. Our team of fully qualified and dedicated teachers introduce English, Maths and Science at age appropriate levels. All of our students have physical education lessons, including swimming,

the creative arts, including music and drama, and foreign languages. All students, no matter what background, achieve the ability to think, learn and communicate in English. Our children leave the Primary School with the skills, attributes and mind set to fully absorb the challenge of Secondary School.

Students aged 11-14 (Years 7 to 9) study

the core subjects of Mathematics, English and Science within the British National Curriculum. Aged 14-16 they work towards the prestigious and internationally recognised IGCSE examinations (Years 10 and 11). Creative arts, sports and the holistic values of Round Square are instilled throughout the Secondary School and students are

given opportunities to expand their interests outside lessons through community service and after school activities. Our student community is one that is made up of individuals who are responsible and respectable citizens who develop thoughtfulness, compassion and strength.

Providing the right learning environment contributes to our students’ journey of academic success

The

International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma qualification is recognised and accepted by the best universities around the world. Students aged 16-18 years old study subjects that ensure breadth of experience in languages, social studies, the sciences and mathematics with an additional choice of a subject in the arts. The mandatory Extended Essay (EE) and Creativity, Action and Service (CAS) give students the means to learn through experience and how to take actions in the service of others and is an insight into independent learning. Universities now demand more than academic success so we provide our students with a platform to gain the extra skills required to meet these high standards.

Our teachers are on hand to provide guidance but also encourage students to learn self-organisation. We ensure each student receives the support to fulfil their potential with extensive experience on university guidance, time management, support and encouragement.

Our boarders study and relax together in a comfortable and caring environment

The

homely spirit and sense of comradeship in our boarding community provides a wonderful home away from home for our boarders to grow intellectually and emotionally. The outstanding provision of pastoral care that exists at The Regent’s International School Bangkok puts the needs of our boarders at the centre of every decision that we make.

By boarding, students relieve themselves of the notorious Bangkok traffic. Boarders also benefit from extra tutorial sessions held in the evenings. The mixture of nationalities, interests, talents and personalities, combine to make a thriving community that strives for excellence in all that we do. We enjoy being flexible, offering full time and weekly boarding where we provide continuity and stability from which our boarders can access a first class education.

Be y ond t he C l assroom

We place great emphasis on ensuring

our students are well-rounded global citizens by having the opportunity to acquire new skills outside the classroom along their journey at the school. The activities programme is based on the Round Square IDEALS - Internationalism, Democracy, Environment, Adventure, Leadership and Service – as well as the Creativity, Action and Service (CAS) aspect of the IB programme. We encourage students to try new and varied activities

throughout their academic year. The wide range of clubs offers something new for each student to try and enjoy. From football to philosophy, drawing to debating, science club to singing there is something for everyone. Through these co-curricular and extracurricular opportunities, either at our Regent's Outdoor Centre on Koh Chang or elsewhere, our students develop their true passions that many go on to pursue in later life.

Skills in the creative arts, such as drama, often stay with our students and benefit them in practice in their future lives

A unique advantage offered to

students is the chance to study in a traditional British boarding school for up to a term. As part of our commitment to a broad and exciting international education we have secured places for students in the UK where they can

continue their studies, make new friends and learn more about the UK. Students return from their experience with the ability to adapt to their surroundings in preparation to meet the challenges of a changing world.
