ALEXANDRA MELCHIORRE ‘18 REGISTERED BEHAVIORAL TECHNICIAN DOCTORAL STUDENT
“I always knew I wanted to serve in the healthcare field, but Regent and my hands-on experience in ABA therapy helped me discover my passion for working with children diagnosed with autism.”
Alexandra Melchiorre will tell you her plate is full, but so is her heart. She is a first-generation college graduate and recent Regent M.S. in Psychology graduate. The knowledge and guidance she gained through that experience gave her confidence to pursue her Psy.D. degree beyond Regent. Alexandra explains, “I’m grateful for my Regent mentors.
Their emphasis on relationships and guidance has helped me navigate a challenging yet rewarding journey.” Through Regent’s master’s program she discovered her place in psychology, fueled by a desire to help children with neurodevelopmental disabilities. Alexandra is applying the therapeutic style she developed
at Regent to make a difference: “I’m currently working with children with autism spectrum disorders and their parents.” Alexandra adds that the clinical skills she’ll gain at the doctoral level will further advance her understanding and treatment of developmental disabilities.

“Through my time and experience at Regent, I fell in love with teaching and supervising. It shifted my career focus, which ultimately opened incredible doors I didn’t anticipate.”
Before earning his Ph.D. in Counselor Education & Supervision, Chris Hull was in private practice serving as a professional counselor. “Although I was making an impact, I was drawn to other facets of mental health, including research and teaching.
I was intrigued by the idea of curriculum development, supervision and training,” Chris explains. Earning his doctorate connected him to his life’s work: “I chose Regent for its professional and thoughtful approach to education, but what shaped me was the mentoring faculty and my
cohort experience.” When asked about his success chairing the CACREP board, Chris gives God the glory, adding, “I feel fortunate to have been selected. What I’m doing now is the most important work of my career.”
