McDougall Cottage McDougall Cottage, an 1858 granite and limestone labourer’s house, is located in downtown Cambridge in the historic factory district. Home for more than a century to two families of hardworking Scots, the McDougalls and the Bairds, this charming cottage with its pocket-sized gardens, boasts some of the most spectacular hand-painted friezes and trompe l’oeil ceilings Ontario has to offer. The Cottage serves as an interpretation centre, hosting a variety of special events that celebrate the area’s Scottish heritage. Regular events include monthly Ceilidhs, Tartan Teas and Kids in Kilts afternoons. Winter/spring hours Wednesday to Sunday, noon to 5 p.m. (closed from December 19 to March 2, 2016) The cottage will be open for Family Day on February 15, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission By cash donation unless otherwise noted. Museum members receive a 10 per cent discount on Tartan Teas, walking tours and workshops. Gift certificates available.

As a part of the Faeries, Brownies and Changelings exhibit we challenge one and all – team, family or individual – to construct a wee house fit for a faerie.
