JORDANODUIS DREAMINGOFSPRING.creative cocktails and a delicious new menu coming very soon, see you at the bar?
Legendary chef Gino D’ Acampo has already built a strong presence across Yorkshire with several successful restaurants, but his latest venture is set to outshine them all. His newest eatery will reside in the recently refurbished Leeds Marriott Hotel and includes a pristine marble bar, Cicchetti bar, outdoor terrace and a deluxe open-plan restaurant.
Guests are in for a treat as Gino and his team of chefs and sommeliers have curated menus awash with quality, innovation and ingredient provenance. We can’t wait to drop in for a bite to eat and a glass or three of Barolo.
Whilst we’re on the subject of Italian food, if you’ve not heard about Rudy’s latest venue in Headingley, then where have you been? Their distinctive take on the classic Neapolitan pizza has taken Leeds by storm since 2020, and the newest addition to their growing portfolio looks to be another winner. Situated in the heart of the area on Otley Road, it’s already proving to be a hit with locals with the campana starter becoming a firm favourite and if they don’t make their Triple Pepperoni special a permanent fixture, then I’m going to have to have words. Completely addictive.
Moving away from food and drink, I can’t leave without mentioning some of the amazing gigs and shows going on in the city right now. Firstly, as a lifelong Snoop Dog fan, I was so happy to bag tickets to his recent First Direct Arena gig. He did not disappoint, and it was amazing to see the legend in my hometown. Talking of shows and having been bit by the theatre bug in the past few years, I’m also keen to catch some of the forthcoming shows at the Leeds Grand. Sister Act and Mamma Mia! will be first-time watches for me, but I’m also looking forward to seeing the latest interpretation of the brilliantly wild Kinky Boots.
That’s everything this month, but enjoy the bank holiday and I’ll be sharing more Yorkshire newness before you know it.

The DEXAStrong clinic accepts bookings on a direct basis – clients can book their own scans and appointments online or with the team by phone – there is no need to go to a GP to get a referral for a scan.
DEXAStrong is a company founded and led by a team of clinical experts from Yorkshire who hold Consultant and Professor posts in orthopaedic surgery and have special interest in maintaining optimum bone health, density and muscle mass.
These experts joined practitioners who were already experienced in offering bone-loading exercise programmes to open DEXAStrong as a new, private clinic offering adjacent car parking and a luxurious coffee shop on site.
DEXAStrong’s mission is to provide health and wellbeing services to help detect, treat and inform people about bone and muscle health in order to keep people as healthy as long for as long as possible into old age.
The team are delighted to welcome you to DEXAStrong’s new clinic in central Leeds.
Services at DEXAStrong:
• DEXA (Bone Density) scanning to diagnose or assess risk of osteoporosis or osteopenia
• Full body composition scanning to show a person’s bone/muscle/fat make-up
• Bone-strengthening exercise programmes.
• Consultations with doctors for menopause, men’s health, bone and muscle health and osteoporosis
Prices from £169
Anyone (18 yrs and over) who would like to have a bone density or body composition scan or who would like to find out if they would be suitable for a DEXA scan completes a brief questionnaire online or with the DEXAStrong team.
Scans can be booked to suit the client’s diary - less waiting.
Scan results are available on the day for the client to take away with them.
DEXAStrong offers appointments with medical professionals for clients to discuss treatment options, depending on their scan results, if required.
DEXAStrong can contact the NHS if a scan result needs to be flagged to a client’s NHS GP.
• Referrals accepted from healthcare professionals
GPs, consultants, physiotherapists and other healthcare professionals can also refer clients for DEXA scans or any of DEXAStrong’s services.
DEXA stands for “dual energy X-ray absorptiometry” and is a type of X-ray which is passed through the body at a very low dose. A DEXA scan of the spine and hip measures the density of bone and will often give the first indication of osteoporosis or osteopenia, a condition which can lead to osteoporosis.
DEXA scans are painless, quick and undertaken in a spacious, private room
Osteoporosis is a skeletal disorder which causes low bone mineral density. Bones are a living tissue and the body usually breaks down old bone tissue to replace it with new. However, as we age, the body breaks down more bone tissue without replacing it.
The condition has no obvious symptoms and very often, people don’t know they have osteoporosis until they suffer a bone fracture. Women are at particular risk of osteoporosis during and following menopause.
Osteoporosis is extremely common, affecting over 2 million people in the UK. Every year, 300,000 people suffer a fragility fracture (a broken bone resulting from a fall at standing height or less) which can cause significant pain, disability and loss of independence.
The scan can be undertaken in 15-20 minutes and may also help detect other bone problems.
DEXAStrong’s scanner also provides a variation of a DEXA scan called “Full Body Composition”. Full body composition scanning is useful for people of any age and measures the amount of bone, fat and muscle within the body.
As people age, they lose muscle mass which can present a significant risk to health and wellbeing, as weak muscles can affect balance and co-ordination and make people more prone to falls and injury.
Poor musculoskeletal health has a huge impact on people, their employers, the NHS and the wider economy. Over 30 million working days are lost due to MSK conditions every year in the UK and they account for up to 30% of GP consultations in England
(Source: NHS England)
Our nationally-recognised experts at the DEXAStrong Clinic are able to interpret the scan result to calculate age-related muscle mass so that they can then help with strategies to improve muscle loss.

Bones can be strengthened through high-impact activity which creates force through the bones. However, traditional high-impact exercise such as jumping, jogging and weighttraining can also cause injury to bones and joints, especially if people are at risk of conditions such as osteoporosis.
DEXAStrong offers supervised exercise programmes in the clinic using its innovative equipment called BoneStrong as an alternative to highimpact physical activity.
The Bonestrong machine features four exercise “movements”. Members of DEXAStrong’s team explain the exercise movements and ensure the client is positioned correctly. Each exercise requires the client to produce maximum force for five seconds. The force generated is similar in nature to pushing or lifting an object of significant weight and size in four different directions.
Clients subscribe to a weekly programme of exercise sessions which take only a matter of minutes with no need to get changed. DEXAStrong’s team provide a summary after each session of the equivalent forces that the client has produced in their four body areas.

“I’m Chintana, most people know me as Ton. I grew up in a village not far from the city of Ratchuburi in Thailand. I started cooking at a young age and used to cook for all my family. Mai Dang was my first restaurant I opened when I was 18 years old. Six Years later, I met my husband and we decided to start a family in Doncaster. Then this gave me the opportunity to open the first Thai Restaurant in Doncaster, The Bangkok Thai Restaurant. Ten years of running a successful business, we wanted to expand and we decided to open the Bangkok Royal Elephant. Now we’re starting a new chapter by opening the only Thai Restaurant in Doncaster, Thai At The Sal.”

“Lovely family firm, all the staff both in the office (especially Lauren), and the workmen that did the work were easy to deal with and dealt with queries quickly. Leah designed a lovely kitchen and utility with everything we wanted and nothing we did not want. She made some suggestions we had not thought of and it looks great and is very much user friendly.”
~ Dee Cavanagh“Excellent service, excellent staff and AMAZING kitchen! My husband and I are so chuffed with our new kitchen/diner We had two walls knocked through, a new wall and door built and a new kitchen installed. We could not be happier with the whole process from start to finish. Everyone at DKD are professional, helpful and genuinely seemed to
