Establishedin1969,theteam, originallyknownasBelleVueBelles,has heldaprominentplaceintheworldof women’sfootballfordecades, representingDoncaster,andtheNorthof Englandinfinefashion.
It’salongseasonsoit’svitalwedon’t getcarriedaway.Wehavethementality offocusingononegameatatimenow. Thisseasonwehavealotofnew charactersattheclub.Wehavenew coaches,focusingspecificallyondietand fitness.Wedidn’thavethatlastseasonso it’sbeenagreathelp.
Iwasinitiallyabitreluctanttoreturn totheBelles.Itwasoneofmycoaches thatgavemethenudgeIneeded.He sentmeatext,andsaidlisten,you’re goodenough,whydon’tyoucomeand givetheBellesagoagain.

Iwanttokeepdeveloping.CurrentlyI amthecaptainoftheDoncasterRovers Belles,butthere’salwayswaystoadapt asaplayer.Iwanttobettermyselfboth onandoffthepitch.Iwanttobethe bestpersonandplayerthatIcanbe. Wehaveayoungsquad,andIwantthe girlstolookuptome,asIlookedup theplayerswhenIwasyoungmyself, juststartingoutonmyfootballjourney.
Thetruepassionheldbytheyoung womenfuelledtheclub’screationall thoseyearsago,andthatsameambition anddrivestillremainstoday.Wespoke toJessicaAndrewstofindoutmore.
Tosaythey’veenjoyedsomesuccessis anunderstatement.Theyarewidely regardedasoneofthemostsuccessful clubsinEnglishWomen’sFootball, winningtheFAWomen’sCupforthe firsttimein1983,andgoingontowinit afurtherfivetimessince.

Definitely.Theimpacthasbeenhuge. Theamountofpeoplecomingto women’sgamesnowhasgrown massively.WeplayedonaTuesday evening,andhad260peoplewatching.It maysoundlow,butforthedivisionwe’re in,onaweekday,thesupportwasgreat. Somanyyoungboysandgirlswatching onthesidelines,comingdownto supporttheirlocalteam,it’sbeentruly amazing.

Our garden slopes down towards a river so we hadn’t thought about putting the studio down there, and he told us it was absolutely doable. We talked through design ideas for a couple of hours, and he gave us a quote. That was it, we made up our minds there and then and paid the deposit.
‘Once the base was down and the build started it was great. The teams were all very professional, worked extremely hard and kept us up to date with what was happening throughout the process. We had some pretty awful weather during the build too and they coped incredibly well with that and left the site clean and tidy at the end of each day. It was really quite exciting seeing it all come together.
