A little bit of luxury

uxury is the most addictive substance in the world – once you’ve tasted it, nothing else ever tastes so good. So says Brian and Lisa Marshall, who took this premise to open a store dedicated to such indulgence.

This store, simply called The Luxe Company, first opened in Harrogate almost five years ago and has since been joined by a second outlet in York, which opened last year.

Luxury comes in the form of swimwear, nightwear and loungewear, lingerie (including bridal lingerie) and clothing. You’ll also find home accessories, including soft furnishings, lighting, fragrance and candles, mirrors, wall art, furniture, plants and flowers and tableware, as well as gifts for him and her.

“At The Luxe Company, our aim is always to bring something a little different, something that perhaps isn't as commonly available on the High Street but at affordable prices, which customers often are delighted about and presently surprised at,” said Lisa.

Swimwear has become one of the store’s biggest sellers and you’ll find dedicated swimwear showrooms at both locations. Brian and Lisa have found that people travel from as far away as London to visit them for their collections, which includes ranges from the likes of Michael Kors, Ralph Lauren, Stella McCartney, Panos Emporio and Lise Charmel.

“Shoppers are truly delighted by the extensive range of swimwear that we carry, from the skimpiest bikinis to tummy-controlling swimsuits complemented by a stunning range of co-ordinating cover-ups and accessories,” added Lisa. “Whether you're relaxing by the pool, hanging out at the beach, lounging on deck or taking a swim, these collections will ensure you're doing it in style.”

One of the most recent additions to the store in York is the addition of a coffee shop, which sells cakes, pastries and a selection of hot drinks.

“We wanted York to be a lifestyle store, which offers more than just retail,” said Lisa. “It is nice for customers to be able to shop but to also have a drink while they’re doing it."

Lisa firmly believes people still want to buy from bricks and mortar shops and enjoy the experience of shopping but offers an online shopping option too, complete with gift-wrapping.

“We believe that each time you purchase from us, the pleasure should begin from the moment the item arrives,” Lisa added. “We take care to wrap and present our items carefully but we know that sometimes you want something to be done that little bit extra special and so we offer gift wrapping on many of our products by request.”

On 29 June, The Luxe Company will be holding an opening evening in York from 58.30pm. As well as a Champagne reception, Lisa will be showcasing the latest ranges and established local artists will also be displaying their work, which will be available to buy on the night.
