Luxurious options – mothers of the bride or groom take centre stage at New Image. nce the bride has found her perfect dress, the bridesmaids are kitted out and a colour scheme has been finalised, there is one more person for whom the ideal outfit is so important – the mother of the bride or groom. “Dressing for a wedding is as individual as the person themselves,” says Lesley Taylor, owner of fabulous fashion boutique New Image. “I know that ladies can have sleepless nights in the run up to their son or daughter’s wedding and dread the thought of shopping for their outfit. We make sure everyone looks and feels their very best.” Lesley and her team have been helping ladies find their perfect outfit since 1986 and, in 2007, dedicated the upper floor to special occassionwear. With designers such as Condici, John Charles, Veni Infantino and Gina Bacconi lining the rails, you’ll discover a world of beautiful fabrics, styles and colours. Known as the crème de la crème of special occassionwear, Condici has long been the chosen brand for ladies looking for something extra special. “No matter what size or shape you are, Condici will look fantastic on you,” says Lesley. “It’s the way it’s cut and the quality of the fabric that offers the most flattering styles for everyone. And the designs are simply to die for.” New Image also stocks an exclusive bespoke lace collection by Roberto Cavaleti. Choose from a gorgeous selection of dresses, jackets, tops, skirts and trousers in a range of colours and lengths and your individualised outfit will be created just for you within four weeks. A bespoke service is also available with the stunning hats and fascinators by Darcie Mae. A fabulous finishing touch to any special occasion, the

colour, size, shape and design can be matched to your exact specifications. Matching bags and shoes complete the look in style. Though these luxurious options are available for those looking to push the boat out, a great collection of more affordable outfits is also available. For weddings abroad, more relaxed events and the races, Joseph Ribkoff and Tahari have the answers. As a mother of the bride or groom, you deserve to enjoy a wonderful experience at such a special time – and New Image excels in making this happen. Put at ease from the moment you step through the door, you’ll enjoy a personal service with individual, undivided attention in a relaxed environment. You can even leaf through a photo album, packed with photographs and thank you notes from New Image’s many happy customers. “We always ask our customers to send us a photograph of them on the special day and let us know how it went,” says Lesley. “We’ve dressed many ladies more than once over the years as they keep coming back for our special service and great selection.” To celebrate finding the perfect outfit, you can toast with a glass of wine before leaving with your garments wrapped protectively in suit covers, and bags, shoes and hats beautifully boxed. Or, if any alterations are needed, the two in-house seamstresses take care of every nip and tuck to ensure the perfect fit. For your next special occasion, make sure New Image is your number one destination. New Image 277 Middlewood Road, Hillsborough, Sheffield, S6 4HD Tel: 0114 234 4880 www.new-image.co.uk

SIXERCARE
CARE IN THE COMMUNITY These local companies provide support, reassurance and respite when you need it the most. n times of need it’s reassuring to know that there are kindhearted people – friends, family, volunteers and professionals – who will take the time to help us when we need it most. Sheffield is fortunate to have many places for vulnerable people to turn to and also a wealth of opportunities to help out in your community. Providing support to those who are elderly, disabled, have mental health issues or a sensory impairment – so they can remain active and independent within society – is rewarding and essential. If you or someone you know is looking to get out and about but needs support to do so, the Sheffield Travel Buddy scheme could be the ideal solution. Having a travel buddy can benefit someone by helping them travel safely; providing a chance to visit different places on public transport and to be part of the local community. There are many other ways in which care and support are offered too, and all share the same aim – to suit the needs of the person being cared for. This can come in the form of befriending, where a carer helps or accompanies someone to do the things they like to do, or emergency respite, where support is offered in the carer’s own home at short notice, for a limited amount of time. Care homes are an obvious option for many, but a little-known
I
20 SIXER MAGAZINE
alternative to home care and care homes for disabled adults, the elderly and many other vulnerable people is Shared Lives. The scheme involves caring members of the public being trained and supported by local Shared Lives schemes to become carers, who are then matched with someone who needs support. Over time, if they both feel that they will be able to form a longterm bond, they share family and community life. The goal is to create ordinary family life, and to support those with needs to keep them as active, valued citizens. While ensuring those in need are receiving the right care is essential, it can be easy to forget about those – often family and friends – bearing the heavy responsibility of caring. One in ten people in Sheffield cares for a parent, partner, child, relative or friend who is ill, frail or disabled. And while looking after someone can be a positive and rewarding experience, it can also be very demanding – physically, emotionally and financially. Carers in Sheffield recognises the strain this can have, and they offer advice and information to adult carers who are in need of help and support to continue caring, or who simply need to let off some steam. For further information on the issues raised visit www.sheffield.gov.uk and sheffieldcarers.org.uk.

New Horizons Trust (South Yorkshire) Ltd
Sharing Lives
When life presents challenges – as it inevitably does – you may need extra help to carry out the tasks, which some of us take for granted. New Horizons Trust are dedicated to providing the assistance that you truly deserve and need. Ideally located to suit your needs and covering the S6 area, New Horizons Trust employ carers who not only live locally, but possess a good knowledge of the area. They provide the highest quality of care; adopting a flexible approach to individual needs, enabling people to continue living in their own home and helping them to maintain their independence and preserve their quality of life. Their friendly staff will arrange to visit you in your own home and at your convenience to discuss the different services available and tailor-make care package that is right for you. Call them today for further information on 0114 290 3627.
Tricia and Becca have known each other for over three years. They met through Sharing Lives, a Sheffield City Council service which helps support independent living for adults. Becca needs a little extra care and support to enjoy her life, so she goes to Tricia’s house some weekends for respite care, to give her usual carers a break and get the time and space she needs. Becca talks fondly of her time at Tricia’s. “I really look forward my weekends at Tricia’s house. Without a break, things use to escalate and get a little tense, so a break makes me feel refreshed when I go back home.” Tricia says: “My husband and I talk affectionately about the people we’ve supported through Sharing Lives. The best thing is feeling that we’re working together to make things better. I think it’s worth getting involved – you just need some time and a heart for people.” There are many adults who need a little extra help and support. Make someone’s life better – become a carer. PROMOTIONCLARITY IN MIND
Deborah’s set to get back on her bike in pursuit of a new charity challenge in aid of the Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity. little over a year ago, Sixer spoke to qualified personal performance coach Deborah Cundy about the positive, lifechanging impact she has on people trying to achieve their goals, as well as her tireless campaigning to raise money for charity. A new year brings fresh challenges and 2015 has seen Deborah as committed as ever on her quest for physical health, emotional wellbeing and compassion in her community. An avid supporter of Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity for over 20 years, Deborah has raised more than £20,000 for this worthy cause. Her charity pursuits have included abseiling down the Hallamshire Hospital twice and numerous long-distance bike rides. Deborah will be donning her cycle helmet once more this summer, when she takes on a staggering 252-mile bike ride that will see her pedal all the way from London to Paris in just three days. She is raising money for Weston Park and has set herself a target of £1,000. Weston Park currently treats around 75,000 people across the region and their target is to raise £1.8million this year. “The Tour de France’s arrival in Yorkshire last year really sparked my interest in road cycling and it inspired me to take on a new challenge,” says Deborah. “I’ll be 48 next month and I’m the fittest I’ve ever been. It just goes to show that it’s never too late to change your life.” Deborah’s incredible weight loss journey and motivation to live a healthy life led to her establishing her own successful life coaching business, Clarity in Mind. Through sheer determination and hard work, Deborah lost an incredible 12 stone and has managed to keep it off for the past seven years. As a result, her coaching specialises in weight loss management, although she works in other aspects of personal performance development. Deborah is also a regular guest speaker on BBC Radio Sheffield and writes features for American magazine About Her. She is currently working on local projects with Sheffield Hallam University and Powers Martial Arts Centre. “I work every day to achieve my personal goals, so I hope I can show my clients by ‘walking the talk’ that anything is possible. “It is truly rewarding to support people to achieve their full potential and live the life they deserve, as well as helping others by raising sponsorship money through charity events.” To sponsor Deborah’s bike ride challenge, please visit www.justgiving.com/Debbie-Cundy1.

TESTIMONIALS “Debbie is a fantastic ambassador for the charity and this year is taking on yet another challenge for Team Weston Park. Her motivation and enthusiastic nature has inspired so many people to follow in her fundraising and fitness footsteps. We can’t thank Debbie enough for the huge support and dedication she has given us over the years and wish her the very best for the big ride!” - – – Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity “I have struggled with my weight since I was 14 and even when I lose a fantastic amount through dieting it always seems to creep back on. I was nervous about contacting Debbie for weight-loss coaching, but from my first session I was made to feel at ease. With her support and encouragement, I have made positive changes to my life and learnt how to maintain my weight loss long-term.” – Tracey, Scarborough “I have known Debbie for many years and really admire her 'take it on’ attitude. She likes nothing more than a challenge and she inspires other people to achieve more than they thought they could. I appreciate her listening ear, sincerity and sound counsel on all matters.” – John, Corporate character reference

PROMOTIONBOLSTERSTONE MALE VOICE CHOIR
If you’ve got a song in your heart then Bolsterstone Male Voice Choir is the place to share your passion for music. hether it’s a song that takes you back to a distant memory, a record your parents played on a family road trip, or the first dance at your wedding, there’s no doubting the power of music. But besides its ability to evoke nostalgia and the effect it can have on our mood, music has long been known for its capability to bring people together, and this couldn’t be truer of a local choir. Almost 81 years ago Bolsterstone Male Voice Choir (BMVC) was formed and William Evans led the choir for 30 years. From its humble beginnings in St Mary’s Church, the choir grew to become known as England’s largest village choir. It even went on to win renowned choral competition International Eisteddfod in 1972 and 2002, but its most audacious victory was winning the 1984 Welsh Choir of the Year – the first English choir to do so. BMVC now has 65 members, but it is always looking for new singers – no experience necessary, just a passion for music. While joining a large established choir can be a daunting experience – especially for anyone who hasn’t sung before – BMVC is known for providing an exceedingly warm welcome and will do everything it can to make you feel at ease. With the likes of experienced musical director Francis Wells and accompanist Lorraine Pearson, you couldn’t be in better hands for starting out. Performing in front of an audience can be a nerve wracking experience, but it also comes with a real buzz. There is nothing like a live performance, where everyone is

entirely dependent on each other to create a successful show. It is this that bonds the choir together so well, and although the group has come a long way since first forming, it still prides itself on being at the heart of the community, as well as raising thousands of pounds for charity. Choir member Stuart Stubbs says singing is like riding a bike – once mastered, it’s never forgotten. Although he sang at school and church, his work meant he travelled all over the world and so could never commit to regular local events.“When I retired I joined the choir to rediscover the rewards of singing and as a bonus gained many new friends. The choir is not just about music, it's also about the whisky and cheese nights, charity Some up-coming events fundraising and visiting the Charity fundraising, SUFC WW1 battlefield on a lads’ Bramall Lane –10 April weekend. At this time of life I'm Race night, Stocksbridge Golf doing what I want to do, not Club – 17 April what I've got to do." Concerts at Eden Camp, near As always with successful Malton (May) and Upper Denby organisations, highly (June) committed, caring people have See www.bolsterstonemvc.co.uk dedicated years of their lives to for the latest events information. ensuring that the choir has flourished through good times and bad. Chairman Roger Pont says the success of BMVC is down to the support of many individuals.“Thanks to our members, professional musicians, families, officials, sponsors and supporters who have given so much over the years to ensure that traditional male voice choir singing thrives.” Their current sponsor is Bradfield Brewery, who has offered invaluable support over the years. BMVC is not just a collection of people but a living, developing entity in its own right with a past, present and future. The choir has a unique and personal story to tell. If you have a love of music, and would like to become part of BMVC’s story, just pop along to an open house practice at Trinity Church, Hillsborough on 13, 20 or 27 April 7.30pm-9.30pm.

COMPLETE KITCHEN & BEDROOM SOLUTIONS
From a replacement worktop to a whole new kitchen or bedroom, there’s no job too small for CKB. aving traded out of 133 Middlewood Road for over six years now, the Sheffield public are becoming well aware of the high quality, bespoke service on offer at Complete Kitchens and Bedroom Solutions. Owned by Scott Webster, CKB offer a complete kitchen and bedroom service alongside the capability of anything from removing walls to building extensions. Scott said: “When you come to us you really do get everything. Building work, electrics, plastering, decoration, fitting, flooring – this is a one-stop-shop.” But just because Scott and his team can perform complete renovations, that doesn’t mean that they have to. CKB understand that not everybody can afford top to bottom renovations at this moment in time so are more than happy to work on anything from replacing a single kitchen unit upwards. “I can do eight metres of worktop and a new sink and tap for £950 or a whole kitchen or bedroom – so people can have whatever they can budget for,” said Scott. “And if you have your own electrician or plumber that you would like to use then you are more than welcome to do so. We will do as little or as much as you wish.” A feature of CKB which sets it apart from many of its competitors is that it manufactures everything on site, giving it a bespoke service. This means it can cater to any needs or desires. Scott employs a close team of dedicated workers including a registered electrician, and plumber, as well as qualified plasterer, brick layers and window fitters, who are all contracted to CKB. Gloss doors particularly in white and cream are in vogue at the current time. This gives a room a fresh appearance and Scott has seen requests for this design boom.
H
Consequently Scott is offering deals on an Astro white and cream gloss – check in at the showroom or give him a call for more deals. Scott doesn’t Mr and Mrs Owen, S21 believe in such gimmicks as Fitted March 2015 offering customers ten per cent off their total bill though. “These are often used to pull the wool over people’s eyes. I offer competitive prices from the word go.” Should you contact CKB, Scott will come out to view your home for a free appointment. The visit normally lasts for an hour depending on job size. “I don’t give quotes off-the-cuff. I am meticulous when it comes to pricing, so post-appointment I will go through everything and provide an accurate, itemised and fair quote.” Scott is the initial point of contact for customers and he not only designs his work but does the fitting too. Once Scott has committed to a job he dedicates all his time to it from inception to completion. He guarantees that he will not be working on multiple projects at one time and is even willing to turn down work to be able to do this. “My customers like to know that I will always be there and that they have my undivided attention. That is the least they deserve and will get when they come to me.” As such his customers can contact him 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Doors and worktops are guaranteed for a decade but for extra peace of mind Scott ensures that payment comes in instalments and that the full fee is not paid until the job has been completed satisfactorily. For a company that will provide your home with undivided, specialist and bespoke attention, give CKB a call today!

YORKSHIRE RIDES AGAIN
Ready for the off (from left): Malcolm Elliott, Marc Etches and Brian Robinson
After the excitement of last year’s Grand Depart, cycle fever is set to strike once more as the world’s best riders head back to the region. Stephanie Burns reports. egacy was a hot topic in the run up to the Tour de France Yorkshire Grand Depart last summer. Determined not to waste a golden opportunity to promote the many benefits of God’s own county once the millions-strong crowds had dispersed, organisers began planning for life post-tour well before the cyclists tore up our streets. And so it was with great enthusiasm that plans for a Tour de Yorkshire were first announced in September last year. This three-day international cycling event – run by Welcome to Yorkshire and Amaury Sport Organisation (which operates the Tour de France) and backed by British Cycling – will once again challenge the world’s best riders to tackle what is arguably some of the world’s best cycling terrain. Taking place in three stages from 1 to 3 May and designed by the Tour de France’s sports director Thierry Gouvenou, it will touch upon some Grand Depart routes as well as breaking new ground elsewhere.

Day one covers 174km and travels from Bridlington to Scarborough via Pickering, Whitby and Robin Hoods Bay. It picks up in York the next day for another 174km of riding through Malton, Wetwang and Beverley before making its way to the finish line in Selby. The third and final day – a 167km route – begins in Wakefield, drops down to Barnsley and then comes up through Holmfirth, Hebden Bridge, and Otley, finally sprinting into Leeds. Though Sheffield didn’t make the cut this time, the third stage of the tour – on Sunday 3 May – comes agonisingly close as Barnsley gets its turn in the spotlight. If you’re looking to relive the buzz of the Grand Depart, you’d be wise to take a short trip up the M1 to catch the action live here at around 12.40pm. Of course, the broadcast on national television and throughout Europe will also allow you to follow the full race as it happens so, wherever you are, you needn’t miss the opportunity to witness another showcase of our beautiful county in high-def. SIXERSPORTSMAN INN
Who said proper pubs were dead? The Sportsman Inn is successfully keeping a fine tradition very much alive. ith so many pubs closing or struggling to make ends meet, it’s great to see one local that has come through a shaky period and is thriving once again. When local couple Kim and Rob took over the Sportsman Inn on Worrall Road, Wadsley, three years ago it was a failing pub with not enough regulars. So did they have a masterplan? Not exactly. “I think I had a mid-life crisis!” laughs Kim, who had previously worked with her father in the family tree surgeon business. “I had no past experience of working in pubs. I just knew the area well, and the local people, and Rob and myself both had a lot of enthusiasm for taking on the Sportsman and turning it around.” There may not have been a magic formula, but all Kim and Rob’s hard work has paid off and now the Sportsman is a busy, happy pub at the very heart of the local community. Quiet nights or weekends are definitely off the agenda with lots of special events based around food and entertainment to persuade old and new customers alike to keep coming back. On the food front, Sunday lunches are proving particularly
W
popular. A full traditional roast dinner is always available, cooked by Kim herself with all freshly-made ingredients including her excellent Yorkshire puddings. If you want something a little less filling, how about a hot roast sandwich and a pint for £6? Meanwhile Thursday is curry night, more terrific value with curry and a pint for £6. Music evenings are proving to be particularly popular and forthcoming events include a Neil Diamond tribute act on 18 April and a Stars In Their Eyes evening – where locals can take centre stage and perform as their favourite stars – on 9 May. With lighter summer evenings not far away there is a beer garden, which Kim and Rob have fully fenced in to make it safe and child friendly. Bank holidays are always geared towards the family and there will be a bouncy castle for the kids on the forthcoming bank holidays. Sky Sports and BT Sports are also available, making the Sportsman the perfect local to watch the big match in comfortable surroundings. So what are you waiting for? Come along to the Sportsman Inn at Wadsley and see what a great pub, run by locals who know and love their community, is all about. SIXERDO YOU REMEMBER? ere’s a photograph guaranteed to bring the odd pang of nostalgia to those who remember and loved the golden age of steam trains. This is one of the many local stations that was closed in the mass discontinuation of local services in 1959. Can anyone guess where it is, and does it trigger any memories? Last month’s photograph of Hillsborough Barracks, taken between 1914 and 1918, intrugued Sixer reader Terry Robinson who says: “Even at 68 I don’t remember it looking like the picture! The main difference is the railings. Most, but not all, were removed at some time, probably during WWII, when tons of metal railings, gates etc were removed and melted down to help with the war effort.” Terry notes that some of the railings – a small section near the entrance to Morrisons upper car park – remain. “Why was this section left when the majority was taken?” asks Terry. Good question! Can any readers solve the mystery?

Woodlands PreSchool Nursery From growing in the allotment to growing in confidence, Woodlands PreSchool Nursery aims to ensure every child’s educational needs are met, while giving them that ‘little something’ extra. Overlooking beautiful scenery, the setting is located within a five-acre plot and hosts its very own playmates in the form of sheep, lambs, geese and chickens. The outdoor play area includes new play equipment, a mud kitchen and a variety of secure areas that allow children to safely play and explore their surroundings. Indoors, three brightly coloured play rooms give children access to a wide range of resources. Qualified and experienced practitioners work hard to ensure carefully planned teaching strategies provide children with the stimulus and support they need to further their learning and development. Woodlands is open all year round and offers free early learning places to all two, three and four year olds. Myers Grove Lane, Stannington, Sheffield, S6 5LA Tel: 0114 234 3205

Ashdell Preparatory School and Snowdrops Pre-School
Bradfield Dungworth Primary School Nick Clegg, leader of the Liberal Democrats and the deputy prime minister, recently visited Bradfield Dungworth Primary School. He came to find out what issues were of concern to small schools, and staff and students asked him lots of questions. Jamie, age five, wanted to know if he had any children and Fran, also five, asked if the school could have some money to buy more toys. In Amethyst class, Leo wanted to know how the Liberal Democrats were planning to help small rural schools and Matthew was interested in how the politicians decided to share out the money between hospitals and schools. Corner House Nursery What we like about Corner House Nursery: “From our first visit, Corner House felt like home. It has a really friendly, welcoming feel and the highly trained and qualified staff genuinely love the kids. They serve fresh, home-cooked food and there are great outdoor play areas that provide experiences like riding tricycles, playing on the adventure playground and growing salad and veg. “It’s the little extra touches that make Corner House special like the ‘All About Me’ books – a great record and diary of a child’s time at nursery with lots of photos. Children’s footprints are on the wall and they are given a CD of photos of their time at Corner House when they leave. “The trust I have in Corner House makes it easy to leave my kids in their care with absolute confidence that they will be cared for and have a fab time!” – Simon and Joanna Wright (parents). 130 Wadsley Lane, Hillsborough, Sheffield, S6 4ED Tel: 0114 233 3349 www.cornerhousenursery.org

PROMOTIONMIDDLEWOOD NATURE NURSERY
Learning the natural way – Sheffield’s first nature nursery has opened in Middlewood to help youngsters develop in a nurturing woodland environment. ulwood-based social entrepreneur and leading UK Forest Schools expert Sarah Blackwell has launched Middlewood Nature Nursery, a unique pioneering kindergarten for early years children in Sheffield. Sarah believes that nature is nurturing, therapeutic, educational and the perfect place for children to learn and grow as they explore the environment, their world and their place within it. Study after study shows woodlands and wild spaces develop an inquisitive mind, a strong body and sound social and emotional skills. She now invites Sheffield’s children to join her team on the adventure of a lifetime. “You, as a parent or carer, are passionate about your children and you want the best for them,” she says. “Children growing up in nurturing environments flourish. You know from your own childhood that the fondest memories happened when you were outside playing with your friends. We are replicating that for your children in a safe place and allowing your children to learn freely.” There is growing scientific research into early childhood development which shows children need to connect with nature in order to support their brain function and holistic development in intellectual, cognitive, creative, linguistic, emotional, social and physical processes. How we respond to our environment affects the way we feel and in turn has an effect on engagement, attainment, motivation, self-esteem and overall wellbeing. These will inevitably have a direct consequence on children’s ability to be imaginative, creative and ultimately to fulfil their potential. Sarah concludes: “At Middlewood Nature Nursery, we understand the importance of that learning environment and support children to flourish in nature. Every child is precious. Every day is special. Every encounter in the woodland is unique.
F
“As a child-centred, collaborative and investigative provision, we want parents and carers to see the wonderful richness of opportunities children will encounter in this special adventure.” Middlewood Nature Nursery provides care, learning and early years education for babies from three months old to school-aged children, holiday clubs for those in school, parties, and professional development opportunities for parents or educationalists. All staff are highly qualified, experienced in early years and have a passion for the nurture of children though the medium of nature, based on the developmental ethos and values of the Archimedes Forest Schools Education Model. The nursery is open from 8am to 6pm every day and is Ofsted registered. For more information, visit www.forestschoolskindergarten.com. Big loser Charlotte is top of the class when it comes to fitness
Charlotte before (left) and after (right) she shed four stone
A Sheffield teacher who dropped four dress sizes is helping to inspire others to follow in her fitness footsteps. Charlotte Hall, 28, from Fox Hill, who is a member of Hillsborough Leisure Centre’s Fitness Unlimited gym, shed four stone
through regular gym sessions. Charlotte, who works as a food technology teacher, said: “About six years ago I was going through a tough time, so I turned to exercise to give me some control. “I started visiting the gym and quickly began losing weight. I felt confident and more positive and I even got a promotion at work.” Inspired by the positive impact exercise had on her life, Charlotte started adding fitness classes to her weekly routine at Hillsborough. She has recently set up a Slimming World group at Fox Hill Christ Church Hall to help other people lose weight. “It has been a long journey but I have learnt so much and want to share this knowledge and help other people. “There are all these fad diets out there but the key is simply eating the right food and moving more and I’m excited about working with Hillsborough to help spread this message.” For more information, visit www.fitnessunlimited.co.uk.
Golf club tees off for St Luke’s Hospice
Sheffield stadium in sporting spotlight for unique event
Hillsborough Golf Club has chosen St Luke’s Hospice as its charity of the year for 2015. Sheffield’s only hospice has been selected in memory of club member Henry Baker, who was a patient at St Luke’s. “Henry was a very dear friend who spent the last couple of weeks of his life at St Luke’s so it seemed like a good way to remember him and support a great cause,” said incoming golf club captain Richard Crisp. “We have numerous events throughout the year, so we’ll be using every opportunity we can to support the hospice.”
A tri-distance event – one of the biggest competitions in the UK greyhound racing calendar – is returning to Sheffield for the sixth year. Owlerton Greyhound Stadium will play host to the high-profile Three Steps to Victory race, which will be broadcast live on Sky Sports. The event, which attracts some of the country’s top greyhounds, takes place over three distances. The hotly contested final, which will be held on 7 April, occurs over a testing 660m and is expected to attract an audience of more than 1,000 at Yorkshire’s premier race track. This year’s event is sponsored by Pinpoint Recruitment and Healthcare and, thanks to their kind and generous sponsorship, the winning prize has been increased to £10,000. For more information, call 0114 234 3074, email enquiries@owlertonstadium.co.uk or visit www.owlertonstadium.co.uk.
