YOUR WINTER ANIMATIONS FROM DECEMBER 2020 TO JANUARY 2021 COME FOR A VISIT, WE WILL TAKE CARE OF YOU! As was the case during summer and autumn, this winter season will take place in a sanitary context during which we will have to be imaginative and capable of adapting to all circumstances in order to respect the federal and cantonal measures. In that spirit, the Région Dents du Midi worked on the creation of a new winter programme with activities destined to a limited number of people. The aim is to highlight the riches of nature and the beauty of the landscapes that surround us. Whether it is a small group activity or a bigger event, we will ensure regular readjustments of our protection plans if the situation requires it. We would also like to thank our local partners for their precious collaboration in the making of this extensive programme: they promise to make you experience a privileged moment thanks to their knowledge and know-how! We are looking forward to welcoming you for a total immersion in the magic world of winter and our mountains, through original experiences whether it’s skiing, snow, lights in our resorts, well-being, culture or our rich traditions… Mountain and nature lovers of all ages will find their share of excitement. Fun Park – Christmas in the Far West Time to get your cowboy hats out! Yeeha! In a Saloon inspired world, our young pioneers will head off to conquest the Far West! Villages of light Let’s welcome winter’s magic! Champéry, Champoussin, Les Crosets and Morgins will each in turn be illuminated with bright coloured lights to create a fairy-like atmosphere. An illuminated path will lead you through the heart of each village until you reach the best part of the evening: a night street show full of light that will bring magic to the festive season.

Morgins is organising a Christmas-themed tour with different selling points held by the local shops and craftspeople, as well as a variety of animations spread out over different areas along the way.

Illumination of the Carillon pour la Paix
200 years of Tourism in Morgins Exhibition
In the year 2000, Morgins entered the new millennium and symbolized it with the construction of a unique monument: The Carillon pour la Paix (“Carillon for Peace”). This year, 20 years after its inauguration, Région Dents du Midi, along with the committee and the commune of Troistorrents wished to celebrate its jubilee: this winter, the Carillon will be illuminated every night.
During his exhibition, you fill find out about the Morgins from the past through old photos and documents, helping you understand how the village developed to become a tourist destination: the beginning of balneology, ski and hotel development, founding of the Portes du Soleil… An exhibition retracing two hundred years of tourism in Morgins.

Exhibition: France Schmid (painting) Colette Hayoz (sculpture) Mixed techniques and sculptures. « Marcher pour rencontrer la joie ! » (Walk to find joy!). France Schmid’s artistic career perfectly illustrates this lively quote from Jean Giono in “Que ma joie demeure”. Through her sense of harmony and her taste for colours, she spreads on her canvas landscapes, lakes or mountains, that depict at the same time softness, strength and power, touching the spectator’s heart and making him feel fear and wonder in turn. Almost abstract, the artist aims to show the essential: emotion. Her painting, never bland, often grave, opens the door to dreams, leaving enough space for fate, surprise, and doubt.

Exhibition: Daniel J Yeomans (painting) Daniel J Yeomans is a recognized artist with a classical training in Florence. Last year, the National Library of Wales presented Yeomans’ self-portrait n.3, and his work can be found in private collections across the world. This oil painting collection, painted outdoors, follows Daniel’s travels over the past years, from Wales’ hilly coastline to the Région Dents du Midi’s enchanted winter forests.

Night skiing (cancelled) Find out what it’s like to hit the slopes after dark! The Champéry – Les Crosets – Champoussin – Morgins ski area offers to extend your ski day under the stars. That way, you can enjoy a hearty meal on the slopes in between two runs. Night skiing is included in your pass (day pass, season pass or Superpark pass). First Track Skiing in the Région Dents du Midi You dream of making the first tracks in the snow as the sun rises? This unique experience is possible in our region! The Foilleuse and Crosets 8 runs will open at 7.30am for all skiers! After having taken advantage of the freshly groomed slopes an hour before anyone else, it will be time to enjoy a mountain breakfast in our alpine restaurants, with the Dents du Midi in the background. A unique concept, that requires no registration: the lifts will simply open earlier. Don’t miss out!

Ski touring initiation itinerary With the Rando-Parc being a success, Région Dents du Midi has decided to set up an itinerary with tutorials for beginners along the way. Just like a fitness trail, informative signs will show the correct behaviour and technique for ski touring. Among the mentioned themes you will find: how to put on and take off skins, ski carrying, conversions, use of the shovel and probe for avalanche research, etc. Additional explanation videos will be available by scanning the QR codes.

Movement Tracks Challenge The Movement Tracks Challenge is your ski touring challenge this winter. Confront professional athletes such as Thibe Deseyn, Kilian Granger and Yannick Ecoeur. The Movement Tracks are accessible and safe ski touring itineraries. These itineraries can be found on Strava in the form of segments. This challenge will take place on the “Movement Tracks Morgins – Black Track” segment, where our athletes have recorded their reference times. To take part, you just head up the track and compare your time with the pros’.

It smells like a pine tree! This activity will teach you all you need to know about this majestic mountain tree, its culinary by-products and health virtues. The pine tree, as well as the spruce, known as Christmas symbols, have also been renowned for centuries for their flavour and properties. During this activity, we will head into the forest to understand the difference between those two conifers and collect their sprouts and resin. We will then head back indoors to make a drink to enjoy straight away, a protective cream and syrup to take home. These preparations will allow you to experience the benefits and the flavour of these unique coniferous trees.
