Coach Jeff Gallegos
Coach Dave Willsea
Coach Gallegos is in his 3rd season with Regis after numerous experiences in the Colorado basketball community. Prior to his years at Regis, he coached teams at Cherry Creek, Legend, Rocky Mountain, the Colorado Chaos Basketball Club, and he was a Student Assistant Coach with the CSU Rams. These experiences have included Sweet Sixteen (3), Great Eight (2), Final Four, State RunnerUp, and Mountain West Conference Championship and NCAA Tourney appearances. Coach ‘G’ played at Poudre High School, where his team still ranks in many shooting categories in the Colorado state record books. Coach G and his wife are educators in the Cherry Creek School District and they have three children that attend many RJ games. Coaching for: JV I coach because ... it allows me to make a difference in the lives of others outside of the classroom. I am also passionate about basketball and enjoy the challenge of bringing individuals together and helping them achieve to their greatest ability as a team. Lastly, I enjoy the camaraderie with the coaching staff. My coaching philosophy: My philosophy encompasses the following values: Fundamentals, skills, hard work, teamwork, commitment, passion, character, trust, toughness, selflessness, communication, balance, and leadership. Favorite memory from coaching at RJ: The California trip with the varsity team. Favorite motivational quote: “It takes ten hands to score a basket.” -Coach John Wooden Inspirational figure: My parents Favorite tv show: Sesame Street (with my daughter) Favorite music / band: Bob Marley Favorite professional team: Denver Broncos Favorite professional player: Michael Jordan Favorite food: My mom’s green chile Favorite dessert: Tres Leches cake
Coach Willsea is a native of Colorado and played basketball at Gateway High School, where he was a foursport athlete. After graduating from the University of Wyoming, he returned home to teach and coach basketball. He has been coaching high school basketball in Colorado for the past 20 years. Coach Willsea and his wife, Tanya, have three kids; Tavian is 16, Isabelle is 13, and Domini is turning 12. Coach Willsea feels blessed to be at RJHS. Coaching for: JV I coach because… I enjoy building relationships with our players. I want to encourage and guide them to be better players, but more importantly, better men. I find it rewarding, and hope to give each player a memorable and terrific experience. Favorite memory from coaching at RJ: I have so many great memories of coaching at RJ. To limit it to one single experience is nearly impossible. I think winning the third State Championship stands out. Not many people outside of RJ gave that team a chance, and it was wonderful seeing all of our players share in that special moment, especially several of the guys who started their high school basketball, playing at my level. My coaching philosophy Hard Work, Discipline, Integrity, and Class are my cornerstones. By teaching these qualities, I can better ensure the positive impact my players will have on the world around them. Favorite motivational quote: “Winners are not people who never fail. Winners are people who never quit.” Inspirational figure: My parents Favorite tv show: Mountain Men Favorite music / band: Imagine Dragons Favorite professional team: New York Knicks Favorite professional player: Danny Manning Favorite food: Fried Chicken Favorite dessert: Chocolate Chip Cookies What is your pre-game ritual: I like to calmly sit and just get lost in my thoughts.
