OUR SCHOOL Founded in 1877, Regis Jesuit High School is grounded in the nearly 500-year-old tradition of Jesuit education throughout the world, but innovative in its structure and vision. The school traces its origins to Las Vegas College and was founded for boys in 1877 in Las Vegas, New Mexico, by Jesuits from Naples, Italy. In 1884, the Jesuits opened a second school in Morrison, Colorado. Four years later, the Las Vegas and Morrison schools were merged in the College of the Sacred Heart—which later became Regis Las Vegas, New Mexico 1877 College and then Regis University—and moved to West 52nd Avenue and Lowell Boulevard in northwest Denver. In 1921, the high school and college were formally separated into two distinct entities. With the completion of a new high school building on the college campus in 1984, Regis Jesuit High School moved out of the Regis University facilities, but soon outgrew that building as well. On September 16, 1989, the cornerstone was laid for a new campus in Aurora, Colorado. Classes began on the Campbell Campus the following September. In the fall of 2003, the Girls Division opened. With the addition of the Girls Division, Regis Jesuit became only the second Jesuit school in the world to offer an all-girls education (the other is in the Philippines), and is the only co-divisional Jesuit school in the country. Boys Division - Aurora, CO Present Day Our innovative educational model combines the advantages of single gender instruction with opportunities for young men and women to collaborate, pray, serve and socialize together. Recognized for excellence in education, spiritual formation, leadership and commitment to service, Regis Jesuit High School believes an education goes beyond “book learning.” We adhere to the Jesuit ideal of forming the whole person: mind, heart, body and spirit. Regis Jesuit High School aims to form a community of individuals who demand more of themselves and who strive to achieve excellence in all their endeavors by being open to growth, intellectually competent, religious, loving and committed to doing justice - the qualities characteristic of Jesuit education. One crucial component of Regis Jesuit education is a commitment to serve the community. The Service Program builds upon itself so that each year students are encouraged to expand and deepen their commitment to be Men and Women with and for Others. Collectively, each year, Regis Jesuit students give more than 70,000 hours in service to the poor and marginalized in the surrounding community, around the country and abroad.

FROM THE PRESIDENT Dear Companions, Over the past year, we have been reminded of just how much we are meant to be in community, and few things provide as much opportunity to celebrate community as Raider Football. On behalf of Regis Jesuit High School, I welcome you to the 2021 Raider Football season! We look forward to coming together once again to root for the red and white. At Regis Jesuit, we focus on the development of the whole person, intellectually, spiritually, emotionally and physically, and our traditions remain as vibrant as ever. Enduring lessons about teamwork, camaraderie and persistence will undoubtedly be reinforced as our student-athletes prepare, compete and ultimately experience our fundamental aim: to form Men and Women with and for Others. We invite you to join us in this mission. Regis Jesuit athletics are an integral part of the Raider experience for every student, whether they are competing directly or cheering from the crowd. None of this would be possible without the support of our students’ parents and the countless volunteers who generously give of their time and talents to create environments in which our students can grow and compete. Thank you! We are particularly grateful for the dedication and commitment of the Ignatian educators who lead our programs: athletic directors, coaches and trainers who help our students develop their full potential. Nowhere is this more evident than in our football program led by Head Coach Danny Filleman. I extend my sincere best wishes to the Raider squad—may you have many successes, good health, equal grace in victory and defeat and great confidence in knowing we are all behind you. Go Raiders!
David Card ’87 President
Regis Jesuit High School is a Catholic, college preparatory high school offering single-gender education to young men and women in grades 9-12. Sponsored by the Society of Jesus, our innovative educational model combines the advantages of single-gender instruction with opportunities for young men and women to collaborate, serve, pray and socialize together. The school draws upon the nearly 500-year-old traditions established by St. Ignatius. Lou Kellogg Stadium sits in the heart of our 82-acre campus. It is the home of the Raiders and the Regis Jesuit community—a hallmark of our own 144-year tradition.

2021 MEDIA GUIDE
FROM THE ATHLETIC DIRECTOR Welcome to the 2021 Football Season! Friday nights have become synonymous with high school football, and we are blessed to be part of that very special tradition here at Regis Jesuit. Our football program has experienced great success, and we look forward to continuing that tradition this season. We welcome back Coach Filleman, for his seventh year at the helm, along with his incredible staff. This year, the Raiders will again be competing in the 5A Southern Football Conference consisting of the following teams: Chaparral, Legend, Doherty, Fountain-Fort Carson and Douglas County. Non-League opponents include home visits from Valor Christian and Cherry Creek, as well as games against Highlands Ranch, Mullen and Smoky Hill. Please remember that sportsmanship is a key element of any high school event. CHSAA has emphasized positive fan behavior this year at all levels, citing the referee shortage as due in no small part to the negative fan behavior at many venues. We kindly request that fans stay off the sidelines at all levels and to respect the jobs that officials are trying to do. As Head Boys Basketball Coach Ken Shaw reminds us, “Never have I ever seen a referee change a call as result of protests either by coaches or fans.” Regis Jesuit implores fans to maintain our reputation for class throughout any contest. Cheering for our team, loudly and proudly, is always the best way to show support for our young athletes. Regis Jesuit is known for having some of the best fans in the state, so let’s show how true that is again this year. Regis Jesuit also expects that our good reputation will be upheld prior to and after any game as well. Alcohol has no place at any high school venue. We continue to request that you respect this policy both prior to and after every Regis Jesuit contest. Finally, being a proud Catholic Jesuit school, we are blessed to have God at the center of our community. Let us always pray for the safety and success of all our athletes and coaches as we kick off the 2021 season. Kelly Doherty Regis Jesuit Athletic Director

PRAYER WARRIORS “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in their midst.” - Matthew 18:20
This is the underlying and guiding principle of the Prayer Warrior program, a program that, since its inception in 2010, seeks to lift and strengthen the entirety of the Regis Jesuit Football program in prayer. Prayer Warriors form the bonds made by our players, coaches and families, fostering a sense of community among members who choose to make a prayerful and positive difference in the lives of young men. A Prayer Warrior is a parent, relative, friend, alumnus/ae or RJ community member who commits to meet weekly during the season with other Prayer Warriors to pray for individual players, coaches, staff and administration affiliated with RJ Football. We come together to petition in prayer for the safety, guidance, strength, courage and blessing of our team. We serve a loving and faithful God, who hears all requests and answers each according to His great will and purpose. Prayer Warriors is a minimal time commitment each week, yet a powerful one, from the beginning of the season until its end that makes a difference—spiritually and lovingly—in the lives of all those who consider themselves members of Regis Jesuit Football.

St. Ignatius Loyola
First Principle and Foundation Man is created to praise, reverence and serve God our Lord, and by this means to save his soul. The other things on the face of the earth are created for man to help him in attaining the end for which he is created. Hence, man is to make use of them in as far as they help him in the attainment of his end, and he must rid himself of them in as far as they prove a hindrance to him. Therefore, we must make ourselves indifferent to all created things, as far as we are allowed free choice and are not under any prohibition. Consequently, as far as we are concerned, we should not prefer health to sickness, riches to poverty, honor to dishonor, a long life to a short life. The same holds for all other things. Our one desire and choice should be what is more conducive to the end for which we are created.
