A WORD FROM THE HEAD COACH As we move toward the 2021-2022 season, we are preceded by the legacy of 17 Regis Jesuit Swim and Dive teams. The legacy we follow has no bearing on guaranteeing a successful season. As a team we come off a successful 2021 season but what is to become of this season falls on your shoulders. It is what you do today that counts. I sincerely hope you are looking forward to an outstanding 2021-22 season and are eager, not just willing, to make the necessary personal sacrifices to reach that goal. If we implement our Eight Guiding Principles into your daily practice, I am confident it will be a Special Season! Good luck, swim fast, have fun and have no regrets,

Nick Frasersmith Coach Nick Frasersmith

EIGHT PRINCIPLES OF THE REGIS JESUIT GIRLS SWIM & DIVE PROGRAM FRIENDSHIP

TRUST

It is not uncommon for your teammates to become your best friends; their constant support provides you with a higher level of communication, commitment and trust.

Confidence and self-assurance are two positive outgrowths of trust.

RESPECT

Hold in high esteem your teammates, the training process, and your personal values.

DISCIPLINE

Focus on the task at hand, not the outcome. Success in any endeavor is the result of a long and worthwhile process.

LOYALTY

Be loyal to your inner drive with an allegiance and unwavering devotion to your teammates and coachs; develop a sense of purpose with focused attention on the present ... and above all else ... 'BE TRUE TO YOURSELF'.

2

2

COMMUNICATION

Share your thoughts, aspirations and goals. Be honest in all of your relationships as you acquire the ability to 'SAY WHAT YOU MEAN AND MEAN WHAT YOU SAY'.

HONESTY

Individuals who demonstrate conviction with inner strength always gain confidence of their teammates. An honest commitment to the team demonstrates how much you care, and will clearly define your inner self.

COURAGE

Successful athletes exude confidence. Their 'psychological hardness' is never gained through half hearted efforts or self deprecating thoughts. Courageous athletes take charge of their lives and become responsible for their actions ... and when their motivations come from the heart, their athletic performances go beyond the ordinary!

Record times in red set by Regis Jesuit swimmers. * DIVERS MUST MEET THE QUALIFYING STANDARD FOR 6 DIVES TWICE AND 11 DIVES ONCE IN ORDER TO QUALIFY FOR STATE. ** See page 52 for more information about All-American awards. * In order to qualify under the 6 dive standard, the diver must meet the qualifying standard two times during the season. ** In order to qualify under the 11 dive standard, the diver must meet the qualifying standard only once during the season. ** Each year, the National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association (NISCA) publishes individual event and relay qualifying times for both “automatic” and “consideration” designations. The “automatic” standard is the 80th place time averaged over the past three years. The “consideration” standard is the top 150th place time averaged over the past three years. When a swimmer achieves the automatic qualifying time in a regularly scheduled interscholastic meet (up to and including State meet performances), he is an “Automatic All-American”. At the end of the qualifying year, only the top 100 swimmers from the combined automatic and consideration lists are designated as “All-American”. Those achieving the consideration time but not finishing in the top 100 receive the designation “All-American Consideration”. A swimmer may be listed in as many events as his times qualify. Relay teams are limited to 4 swimmers only and only 1 relay team per event per school may qualify. Times achieved at high altitudes are adjusted downward by NISCA to insure equitable comparison with those times achieved at sea-level.

WHAT IS AN ALL-AMERICAN SWIMMER?

Each year, the National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association (NISCA) publishes individual event and relay qualifying times for both “automatic” and “consideration” designations. The “automatic” standard is the 80th place time averaged over the past three years. The “consideration” standard is the top 150th place time averaged over the past three years. When a swimmer achieves the automatic qualifying time in a regularly scheduled interscholastic meet (up to and including State meet performances), she is an “Automatic All-American”. At the end of the qualifying year, only the top 100 swimmers from the combined automatic and consideration lists are designated as “AllAmerican”. Those achieving the consideration time but not finishing in the top 100 receive the designation “All-American Consideration”. A swimmer may be listed in as many events as her times qualify. Relay teams are limited to 4 swimmers only and only 1 relay team per event per school may qualify. Times achieved at high altitudes are adjusted downward by NISCA to insure equitable comparison with those times achieved at sea level.
