AURORA HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION (AHPC) Minutes February 19, 2013 CALL TO ORDER: Chair Cynthia Bean opened the meeting and noted the presence of all Commissioners. ROLL CALL Present: Cynthia Bean Kevin Bean Brett Fehrman Chris Powell Cindy Rottinghaus Jo Ann Ruehl Seth Elder – Staff Absent: Rick Grubbs - Code Enforcement Officer Press was represented by Chandra Mattingly Upon motion by Fehrman, seconded by K. Bean, the January 15, 2013 minutes were approved as revised. COA REVIEW: There was a COAs for review - for 237 Second Street. Owner Tony Conley wants to replace the storefront windows with standard replacement double-hung vinyl windows and also proposes to cover the existing storefront surround with metal siding. Staff recommended against approving the COA. Staff had several recommendations of insulating shades inside the existing windows which could cut down on drafts/cold. He also suggested that perhaps the transoms could be made open-able. Commission decided to table the COA until March, during which time Elder and Fehrman will look at the building and come up with recommendations to help Mr. Conley meet his needs. HEARING OF VISITORS: Ed Kerr, who lives next door to the City of Spires Museum, was present to discuss the proposed ramp at the rear of the Museum into the non-vacated alleyway. C. Bean observed that the City Attorney has not been approached by anyone about this. This is NOT an AHPC issue, but it was suggested that Mr. Kerr go to City Council. Code Enforcement Officer knows about the encroachment on the alley and needs to address the concerns. OLD BUSINESS: There was no Old Business
