AURORA PARK BOARD A meeting of The Aurora Park Board took place Monday, January 21st in the meeting room of the City Building. Present: Mike Peters, President Donnie Hastings, Mayor Mike Crider Cindy Rottinghaus, Secretary Benny Turner Steven Turner, Park Caretaker Also present: Debbie Peters Press was represented by Chandra Mattingly President Mike Peters opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance. Upon motion by Crider, seconded by B. Turner, the minutes of the December 17th meeting were approved as presented. VISITORS ďƒ˜ Dennis Roark was present to request use of Largent Field a couple of nights a week between March and November for practice for his Elite Knothole Select team. Sherry Warren was present to request continued use of Largent Field Tuesday through Thursday between March and July for girls softball teams (last year she had 21 teams, approximately 200 girls). o The Park Board requested that Sherry and Dennis work together to coordinate the use of the field. And once Sherry has a schedule developed she will share it with the Board. o The water needs to be turned on and the restrooms open by midMarch. o Dennis was given permission, if February gets warm, to start using Largent for practice. ďƒ˜ Paul Kunkel, representing Aurora Little League, was present to discuss the use of tobacco at the Little League practices/games. This year they are requiring their coaches to be tobacco free. He would like the fields to be (1) tobacco free, (2) smoke free or (3) smokeless, with designated smoking areas. Donnie Hastings and/or Mike Peters will check with Lawrenceburg to see what they are doing about the tobacco issue and we will discuss it at our February meeting. Stratman post an email on the Indiana Association of Cities and Towns (IACT) website about enforcing a tobacco ban at ball fields OLD BUSINESS Lesko Park Restrooms The fan at the restrooms has been fixed. The heaters have been turned down as low as they will go. Debbie Peters and Steven Turner are monitoring the men’s restroom due to there randomly being lots of water on the floor. Light Sensor Mike Peters advised that the light sensor has been fixed so that they are now coming on around dark. New Steps The new steps look good, Mike Peters got a price of around $1,100 from Bob Armbruster to do a railing; he will get another estimate from Chipman’s for the next meeting. Lesko Park Closeout Donnie Hastings advised that he and Jeff Stratman are working with INDOT on close-out of the Lesko Park project. Dog Park Donnie Hastings reported that the paperwork for the multi-year easement has been signed and will be recorded at the Court House on January 22. Copies of the paperwork have been emailed to Rising Sun Regional Foundation. Irrigation at Soccer Fields Donnie Hastings advised that Jeff Stratman is working on this. OTHER BUSINESS Debbie Peters advised that she wants to paint the floor at the pool; and she would like new lights She also advised that she has removed and scrapped the bleachers at the football field. Mike Crider observed that we need to have a defibrillator at the ball fields. Donnie Hastings will talk with Little League and Pee Wee Football about this. Steven Turner reported that Rumpke took their roll dumpsters; he was advised to discuss this with Randy Turner.
