We at Registry Indonesia are extremely proud to be able to present to our readers the special Cover Story for this 9th Anniversary Edition. It was no small task to be able to gather these remarkable women who not only represents their respective countries in Indonesia, but also represent a global unity. These ten women came from ten different countries, with different cultures and different backgrounds. Yet, they’ve formed a very special kind of friendship that transcends all these barriers. As a representative of their respective countries, their friendship is not only precious on a personal level, but also acts as a beacon of the global spirit. While each of them has their own personal agenda when it comes to improving their countries’ bilateral relationships with Indonesia, they are all striving for the same goal of world peace and unity. We listened in awe as they share with us the magnificence of their countries, and the sacrifices they’ve made to consciously leave behind the countries they love wholeheartedly in order to share this love to the world. For some of them, this meant leaving behind their extended families for decades and raising their children all over the world. It is our privilege to be able to bring these stories to our readers. Here are the remarkable stories of our Madame Ambassadors…

Svetlana Perfileva Madame Svetlana Perfileva is the spouse of the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Indonesia H.E. Ahmed Abdullah Al Musalli. Together, they’ve served for 15 years in India and is now currently posted in Indonesia. She shared her love for her country, describing her favourite spots such as the sumptuous desert panoramas of Jebel Hafeet; Dubai’s Al-Fahidi Fort museum; Dubai Creek traditional Arabic boat scenic sunset rides; the enclaves of luxury sweeps of sand around Ajman and the wilder beaches of the Emirate of Fujairah; the country’s pride - the world’s tallest freestanding structure Burj Khalifa; incredible beautiful mammoth modern mosque Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque with contemporary design & ancient craftsmanship skills and lavish use of gold, mosaic work, glass work and marble in gigantic

proportions paired with blindingly white stone. As an ambassador wife, she relishes the opportunity to travel that comes with the job. Both her and her husband are avid travellers. Spoken like a true traveller, she loves learning more about the history and culture of other countries, to see not just the big cities but to observe the life and nature in the small towns and countryside as well. She is especially fascinated by the local craft as she loves to design clothes, embroider and knit. “Friendship for me is reciprocity, trust and tolerance”, she said. In her time in Indonesia, she has made many Indonesian friends who share the same views and she treats these friendship as precious gifts from God. She has also learned a lot from the creativity of Indonesian people.

Wang Dan Madame Wang Dan, spouse of the Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia H.E. Xie Feng, has served together with his husband in United States, Malta and Indonesia. As the representative of such a powerhouse nation, Madame Wang Dan believes that the growth of bilateral ties between Indonesia and China is through comprehensive strategic partnership, political & economic ties; cultural, education, youth affairs and sports exchanges, events & cooperation. She shared the plans and endeavours currently taken to further improve bilateral relations between Indonesia and China, “Driven by the establishment of China-Indonesia comprehensive strategic partnership, the political and economic ties between the two countries had been expanding and deepening in recent years. The exchange and cooperation in culture, education, youth affairs and sports had also been quite robust and fruitful. Waves of outstanding contemporary Chinese cultural events had come to Indonesia in recent years, which were wellreceived in the Indonesian society. At the same time, many unique Indonesian arts had been presented to the Chinese public, making a positive social impact. I sincerely hope that the Chinese and Indonesian governments and social organisations would hold more and more diverse and popular cultural events to build a vibrant cultural life for the two countries. In doing so, it would further enhance the friendship and make important contribution to the all-round development of the bilateral relations. Our Chinese Embassy would continue to encourage and support these endeavours.” Indonesia as a country has a significant percentage of Chinese-descent population, resulting in the cultures interspersing over the decades. The Chinese culture is so deeply meshed in the local culture that it is no wonder Madame Wang Dan found many similarities to the culture back home. She find it fascinating that local schools in Indonesia celebrate Chinese New Year, where some even have lion dance performances of their own.

Noor Sabah Nael Traavik Madame Noor Sabah Nael Traavik was born in Kabul in Afghanistan, and came to Norway as a teenager. She is now the spouse of the Norwegian Ambassador to Indonesia H.E. Stig Traavik. Indonesia is her first post and in her own words states, “Indonesia is my first country to follow my husband, and I feel so lucky that we are here.” Madame Noor describes the meaning of ideal friendship as “I need friends every day! To chat, discuss, have fun and share. But the most important is the friend you can turn to when things go wrong, when you are down. The one who will stand by you when you need it.” Madam Noor loves Indonesian food and culture, and is enthusiastic about traditional handicrafts as batik, songket and ikat as well as modern Indonesian fashion. She says: “There are many differences between Norway and Indonesia – in terms of climate, culture and size. But Norwegians and Indonesians tend to like each other and understand each other well. I think one reason is that both Norway and Indonesia are consensus based cultures. Norway is my adoptive country, I am originally from Afghanistan. So another thing that I really admire, and that clicks with me personally, is the moderate Islam, the tolerance and warmth of the Indonesian people.” And about Indonesias interest in Norway she says: “Well of course Indonesians love salmon from Norway. And Norway is an exotic tourist destination for Indonesians, but still easy to travel to. Indonesians appreciate the clean air, the blue water, the mountains and fjords, as well as enjoyable modern walkable cities. And hotels and restaurants in Norway love Indonesian tourists. They see them as polite, smart and easygoing tourists!” She grew up as the only girl among five brothers, and developed a lively personality in a lively family. She herself is blessed with two daughters who are now seven & a five years old. She enthusiastically supports her husband’s efforts to build on the excellent bilateral relations between Indonesia and Norway. Madam Noor says: “Both Indonesia and Norway are maritime nations – and I know the Embassy is working on many exciting projects in fisheries, energy and oil & gas that will benefit Indonesia and Norway. I try to focus on the people. So bringing Indonesians and Norwegians together in our house in a nice atmosphere is important. When people know and trust each other they can do great things together.” Madam Noor has been passionate about humanitarian work since she was a student. In Indonesia she has pursued this and has twice organized humanitarian TV concerts called “Voice of Children”on national Indonesian TV channels, to raise funds and awareness for vulnerable children. She has also three times been a judge in Miss Indonesia. Jewellery by Jewels of Eden

Fatma Ibrahim Dessouki Madame Fatma Ibrahim Dessouki is the spouse of the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Indonesia, H.E. Bahaa El Deen Bahgat Ibrahim Dessouki. Together they’ve served three countries including their current post in Indonesia. Madame Fatma believes that the power of cultural exchange lie upon cultural events and exhibitions to improve bilateral relations amongst countries. According to her, every culture in the world includes some form of dancing and singing, which is a point of similarity in Indonesian and Egyptian culture. While the culture in Indonesia is so varied, there is also an element of it that is influenced by the Middle-Eastern culture. She is passionate about her endeavour to improve bilateral relations between the two countries, and she believes this can be best achieved by organising events and exhibitions with a focus on cultural exchange. Promoting Egypt as a travel destination for Indonesian is also on her to-do-list. She shared that while Egypt is world famous for its ancient civilisation heritage such as the pyramids and the sphinx, there’s also another side to Egypt such as the famous tourism resort of Sharm El Sheikh, which she described as being similar to Bali. “In my country, we have many places to visit like Alexandria, Hurghada, Taba. They all have beautiful beaches and hotels to stay at. We also have a cruise ship from Cairo to Luxor and Aswan. There is also a great variety of ancient artefacts which people can see.” With her busy life as a mother of three as well as a diplomat wife, she choose to unwind and express her creativity through painting. “Painting is a great way to express my idea and what inspires me onto a canvas”, she said. Living away from her country also means that she relies on the support system of other ambassadors wives who are in the same position. This form a special kind of friendship that plays a great part of her life. “My idea on friendship is that friendship is life; it means that when my friends need me I will always be there for them. With our busy life, having friends is a priority to stay happy and to spend time with people who understand you.” Dress by May & June, Shawl by Alleira Batik, Jewellery by Jewels of Eden

Myanmar is rich in natural resources such as ruby, sapphire, gold, pearl, oil and gas, and teak wood. I really enjoy promoting the gems from Myanmar that are precious and semi-precious. Moreover, Myanmar has unique food called Laphet or fermented tea leaves; traditional Myanmar Thanakha, which is used as face cream, body lotion or sunscreen; and the city of Bagan which has over 2,000 pagodas and temples. As for the people, we mainly have eight ethnic groups but more than 100 ethnic minorities.” Madame Sabai Win further described her family by saying that “I am a mother of three children, and a grandmother of three year old twin sons. My one daughter and two sons, all got their educations in the US. My two sons are working in Myanmar now because they like to serve their country in anyway they can. Zhanar Sukhan Madame Zhanar Sukhan is a Spouse of Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Indonesia H.E. Askhat T. Orazbay. She strongly supports the idea of promoting country relations through cultural exchanges. From the moment she got married with her husband, they lived abroad starting from the first official journey in Islamic Republic of Iran in 1994, where she gave birth to her first daughter. Since then, her husband was posted in Afghanistan and Pakistan for UN mission, while she stayed behind with her daughter in Kazakhstan. With birth of her second daughter, they returned to Iran for three more years. They continued their diplomatic journey by moving to Turkmenistan, and finally Indonesia. As a mother of two, she proclaims family to be life’s greatest blessing. With her eldest daughter currently studying in London and a younger one still in 7th grade at Jakarta Intercultural School, she cherishes her small family while still looking forward to reunite with all their relatives during their annual family travel to Kazakhstan. As a family, they enjoy travelling and have visited a lot of incredible places and countries. Living here in Indonesia give them a prime opportunity to travel to the many islands on this archipelago and learn more about the country they’re living in. It is also here in Jakarta, that Madame Zhanar found her new passion for making traditional wool felting products, through which she demonstrates Kazakh culture. Quoting Shakespeare, she said “A friend is one that knows you as you are, understands where you have been, accepts what you have become, and still, gently allows you to grow.”Madame Zhanar further explains “Ideal friendship exists between siblings, such as in my case where my sister is my best friend. It is also a type of friendships that lasts for years. For example, I have four Kazakh friends whom I have known for more than sixteen years. No matter where we are, we always keep in touch with each other. I am also glad to have great friends here in Indonesia.”

One of the most important measures taken is the addition of Belarus in the list of countries allowed to enter Indonesia visa-free for tourism or visa on arrival. “We believe that it is a very positive step that will help us to increase ties between our countries,” she stated. One of her missions in Indonesia is also to share the magnificence of her country, and to introduce Belarus as a prime travel destination. She excitedly shared, “Like Indonesia, Belarus has a unique culture. Due to its location at the heart of Europe at a crossroads of the main trade and logistic routes of Europe Belarusian culture has different features of both the West and the East where one can see magnificent medieval Nesvizh and Mir castles built in the Western European styles; you can listen to unique Belarus folk music, try some rich and delicious Eastern European cuisine as well as get familiar with local culture and traditions, which date back for thousands of years. Just come and see the beauty of Belarus. Our country is very open and welcome to all foreigners.” Jewellery by Jewels of Eden

Clara Zondag Pek Veis Indonesian-born Madame Clara Zondag Pek Veis is the spouse of H.E Georgios Veis, Permanent Delegate of Greece to UNESCO-Paris. Together they’ve served in Cameroon, Sudan, Greece, USA and back to her own country, Indonesia. Her personal mission in her position is to support world peace and fight for freedom of speech. As an Indonesian married to a Greek man, Madame Clara is no stranger to having to adjust to other cultures. She has also lived in the USA and Hong Kong while completing her studies, making her able to make anywhere her home. This skill has proved to be extremely useful when accompanying her husband on his posts. “Every country has its own uniqueness and charm”, she said. A woman of many talent, this accomplished pianist is also an exhibited painter. Moving from country to country comes with the job description, and friendship in this environment is a precious thing when cultivated well. While there might be an expiry date to her stay, there is no end to a true friendship. “An ideal friendship is someone who could accept for who and whatever the person is, in any situation, where seeds of this friendship shall give forth birth to a greater solidarity, tolerance, and love for humanity. The door of the heart should always be open to another.” One of her most memorable post was in Sudan. “I think I learned a lot about friendship in Sudan. When we were newly there we often were surprised by visit from the neighbours without any advance notice. But later on we found out that we are actually one family. The door is always open for one another. I left Sudan crying…this is the only case where when I was leaving the country, neighbours were waiting outside our residence to bid us farewelland some friends from diplomatic corps came to the airport to say goodbye to us.” Wardrobe by Alleira Batik, Ring by Jewels of Eden

CHOPARD

Most Precious Heritage

Celebrating its first year of joining the Fédération Française de la Couture in January 2016 as a Jewellery member, Chopard presents its latest Haute Joaillerie creations as part of the Paris Haute Couture week. Both Haute Couture and Haute Joaillerie stresses the fundamental values of creativity, excellence and expertise. Joining the Fédération Française de la Couture, Chopard proves its values by highlighting the talent and the exceptional work of its jewellery artisans. On January the 27th and 28th, Chopard once again demonstrates their virtuosity and their technical genius by associating vividly coloured precious stones, gold and titanium. The highlight of the presentation are two cuff bracelets and a stunning necklace made of titanium and set with multi-coloured gemstones. In addition, three more new extraordinary rings from the Fleur d’Opales capsule collection is unveiled. The cuff-bracelets are created cleverly by mingling traditional and modern techniques. Each of the bracelets features different inspiration and design and their crafting calls for a blend of extreme creativity and ingenuity. Colourful gems are used such as topaz, paraiba tourmalines and amethysts, set on titanium foliage. This specific noble metal is chosen for its distinctive characteristic. Titanium offers the advantage of lending itself to being coloured in a broad palette of shades. Therefore, it

46

matches the colours of the stones with which it is adorned, accentuating their brilliance, radiance and strength. 18-carat white gold is also combined with titanium in a precious interlacing pattern of amethysts, emeralds, paraiba tourmalines and sapphires. And a third bracelet uses pear-shaped diamond petals on the two rows of flowers. Chopard splendid necklace is a constellation of titanium and precious red and blue stones with a 14 carat pear-shaped tanzanite as the centrepiece. Enriching the Paris Haute Couture Week, Chopard jeweller presents their mysterious bouquet with tree new rings. Each of them are adorned like their predecessors, which were first launched in July 2015, with majestic central opal. The rings unfurl their precious petals across an exquisite gold and titanium structure. The successful presentation can only be credited to the nimblefingered, patient and inventive artisans who have successively played their own crucial roles: designers, wax jeweller-sculptors, jewellers, lapidaries, gem setters, and polishers. These skillful craftsmen represent of knowledge that the Scheufele family not only nurtures but transmits from one generation to the next. Proudly, Chopard claims to acknowledge that the most precious heritage of the company is above all human.

Maisya Jewellery Distinctively Beautiful

Maisya Jewellery is introducing its rare yet elegant ruby collection that takes the company to higher level. Maisya Jewellery has recently launched its new collection featuring rare yet elegant ruby, beautifully designed for those discerning few with high appreciation for haute living. This time, Maisya takes you to explore its fancy collection of deep red ruby pendants, earrings, rings and necklaces – all of which make up beautiful gifts for various meaningful occasions and especially for celebrating this month of love. “A drop of the heart’s blood of Mother Earth” is how ruby is described in the Orient. In the world of jewellery, Maisya gives its contribution to the realm of high society with its ruby pieces that are perfectly crafted in fancy red colour. Let’s go back for a while to the bedrock of how we define high quality ruby. It is a red coloured gemstone, which is a variety of mineral corundum with hardness 9 according to Moh’s scale. The red colour is derived mainly from the presence of chromium. This explains that the natural untreated ruby is very rare and the most common treatment of ruby is heating. Ruby boasts the colours of pink, pinkish red, purplish red, purple and pigeon blood. The name of pigeon blood, however, does not come from the blood of pigeons, but from the bright red ring in the iris of their eyes.

Staying true to the highest level of quality, Maisya presents only rare gemstones of ruby that possess favourable investment value, with the colour of red that can be translated as distinctively beautiful. Such high value craftsmanship is credited to Maisya’s expertise in making various quality gems. Maisya itself has established a presence since 2005, and has successfully promoted its craftsmanship to both national and international worlds of gems and jewellery. First opened its business in Jakarta,

Maisya never stops innovating its expertise in the making of jewellery. Flash forward to present, eleven years later, the company has proven to stay at the forefront of the jewellery industry. Now, the history has seen Maisya not only win the hearts of elegant women from different characters, but the company has also built a shining portfolio in scoring success of marketing its products in Indonesia and overseas. And its rare ruby collection takes Maisya to scale even greater height in the jewellery industry.

Celebrate New Year With Bubble Dazzle

The great revival of the Bubble wristwatch has marked the new year with the Bubble High Jewellery Skeleton, a trio of wristwatches with openworked, ultra-thin movements - each of one-of-a-kind creation set with exquisite gemstone: rubies, blue sapphires and black sapphires. The beginning of 2016 was celebrated by a burst of precious colours on the legendary Bubble, created in three unique pieces in order to repeat the phenomenon it once created when it was first introduced in the year 2000. It was a watch so successful that it became emblematic of the era. Bubble High Jewellery Skeleton is not only rare in the world of timepieces, but also rare in the world of haute joaillerie timepieces. For

62

this time only, only three pieces are made where each singular creation are distinguished by baguette-cut diamonds and gemstone hour markers, all set by hand. It is a meticulous task requiring hundreds of hours. Each watch has 131 brilliant-cut diamonds on the dial, and 42 on the bezel, totaling a stunning 5.7 carats of diamonds altogether. The irreplaceable element of this watch are the 12 baguette-cut gems that form the hour markers, being either rubies, blue sapphires or black sapphires. Each Bubble High Jewellery Skeleton is fitted to an alligator strap in the same shade as the gemstone: red, blue and black; finished the tongue buckle made of 18ct white gold.

The rest of the movement is decorated with a floral motif. The Corum key logo is formed by the barrel that is open-worked. Everything is executed by hand, the engraving differs very slightly between movements, further enhancing the unique nature of each watch.

As stunning as ever with the bold nautical character of its Tourbillon using an anchor and sail as hands, the new FreakLab is easily legible and features the date at 4 o’clock. On the technological side, it is for the first time equipped with the UlyChoc safety system, a new generation of shock protection devices. The Freak’s avant-garde design remains unrivalled to this day. With neither dial nor hands, it is constructed so that the movement turns about its own axis. Connected together at the center

68

of this unusual ship, the lower deck thus displays the hours, while the upper deck – which carries the gear train, the balance-wheel and balancespring unit and the exclusive Dual Ulysse silicium escapement – shows the minutes. The Dual Ulysse escapement also marks a significant technical advance: it has abandoned the traditional pallet fork and escape wheel. Two silicium impulse wheels, each with eighteen active, meshing teeth, alternately activate a stopper which transmits its energy directly to the balance staff, first in one direction, then in the other. Thus this mechanism, which requires no lubrication, always delivers its force in the direction of the rotation of the balance wheel, minimizing friction. On the new FreakLab, the entire floating upper bridge has been completely redesigned. First, the gear train has been made smaller in order to reposition the balance-wheel and balance-spring at the center of the movement. This operation lightened the whole and made it easier to read

the hours. At the same time, the oscillating unit has been equipped with UlyChoc shock absorbers, entirely designed, developed and produced in-house. A classical system comprises five micro-elements: the block, the setting, the jewel, the counterpivot and the spring. With simplification in mind and special focus on efficiency, Ulysse Nardin replaced three of these functions with a single one-piece component made of silicium, a genuine world first which is the subject of a patent application. This solution avoids forces of play and friction, enabling the balance staff to be perfectly recentered in the event of an impact. Flaunting more of a corsair facade than ever, with an anchor to show

the hours and a bridge representing a sail for the minutes, the FreakLab is phenomenally easy to manipulate. A safety clip between the horns at 6 o’clock frees the rotating bezel sculpted in the shape of waves. This is used to set the hours and minutes when rotated clockwise, and the date when rotated anticlockwise. And the mainspring barrel – designed for a power reserve of more than seven days – is wound by the other bezel. Thus the two bezels, front and back, are constituent parts of the movement. FreakLab timepiece tells a style story all its own and demonstrates a durability unlike any other.

Chanel Paris in Rome

Held in Teatro number 5 (of course) - the studio where Federico Fellini filmed his 1960s masterpiece “La Dolce Vita” - Karl Lagerfeld reconstructed the set for “Paris à Rome” in spectacular, meticulous detail. Built entirely in black and white, it not only recalled Italy’s moviemaking heyday with the silver patina of old projector film stock but also the era when Coco Chanel dressed its greatest stars, Jeanne Moreau, Monica Vitti, Anouk Aimée and Romy Schneider for their performances in films directed by Italy’s movie maestros Visconti or Antonioni. CHANEL ambassadresses Kristen Stewart, Anna Mouglalis and Zhou Xun, actresses Rooney Mara, Geraldine Chaplin, Clotilde Hesme, Ludivine Sagnier, Kasia Smutniak, Alessandra Mastronardi, Valeria of Hanover attended the event. Karl Lagerfeld explained that his ulterior motive for the monochromatic set was that it should bring the clothes into sharp relief, since so many of them played on the classic Chanel palette of black, beige, cream, grey and navy blue. So when the show’s live music began (interpreted by Chistophe Chassol, playing the piano in a restored bandstand) and the models emerged from the set’s Metro station, the clothes were indeed more luminous than ever. This was the moment, aside from the typical Parisian street scene, in which there was no doubt we were looking at a collection that could have only ever come out of France, steeped in all things quintessentially French, all things quintessentially Chanel. “That’s why Paris in Rome, that is important,” stressed Karl Lagerfeld, “this house is French, the collection is made in France and by the most experienced, talented and best craftspeople in the world.”

But the magic of the show, and collection, was how Karl Lagerfeld directed the development of his multi-faceted Paris in Rome plot. Just as the palette began to appear tinged with Rome’s famous golden light - ochre and orange through cappuccino and pink – so too did the fabrics became richer, embellished with everything from witty surface detail such as a leather pencil skirt that resembled tiny bows of “Farfalle” pasta to feathers that had been

hand-painted to resemble marble. Dresses’ necklines grew into short papal capes and the most exquisite cashmere came overlaid with rosary-jewelled necklaces. One dress, a cocoon-like bubble constructed in petals of vibrant coral, seemed to hark back to a time when couture was centred in Rome as well as Paris. At the end of the show, the boutiques, restaurants and cafés all came alive as the party began.

Fendi

Modern Feminity

74

Fendi presents its Women Spring Summer 2016 Collection as a Femme Fatal seductive love game upon romance and passion. “Femininity in a modern way,” said Karl Lagerfeld of Fendi’s Spring Summer 2016 that played with proportions and blended old & new, juxtaposing Victorian highneck collared, bloomer-legged rompers with pulsating hues and futuristic impressions, where texture was the key in ruching, woven, and whipstitch details, that immediately modernizes. The Femme Fatal assortment showcased patchwork pockets, understated cut-outs, and billowed sleeves embellished suiting separates and shift dresses, adding fresh scenes to acknowledged wardrobe staples. The mood of spring was created through leather floral adornments on bags, belts, and harness tops, with a palette that played to the perpetual and the brave in blacks, whites, and army greens together with mix & match kaleidoscopic blues and the full spectrum of coral, blood orange and burgundies. The chic & brazen Fendi women of this season revealed ruched burgundy satin & pastel leather doublets; ruched artist smocks, in peacock blue or damson cottons, worn as dresses or blouses tucked into shinlength pleated skirts and slim trousers; long bomber jackets in olive leather, leather plaiting on khaki dresses & slim harem pants with Fendi’s luxury signature of wear leather plaited trims, and lacy laser effects or columns of satin-covered buttons.

Fendi hit bags, such as the By The Way & The Peekaboo are in ruched leather or dip-dyed, with long straps studded with leather flowers, soaring the bag to new levels. The bag straps are sold separately to mix & match, where bags will be offered in an alphabetized intrecciato, which is a traditional method of weaving leather that inspired a fresh take on the monogram. Silvia Fendi credit the references of “Victorian, medieval and Tudor silhouettes,” because they are “all times when women were strong and tough,” where a letterbox-red miniskirt was made in basket weave and a summer fur was fashioned like rattan or wicker. Meanwhile Lagerfield

comments “I didn’t take a historical reference, I just wanted to create a softlined silhouette to sit against the concrete garden.” Fendi has successfully played with difficult proportions of a pantaloonstyle denim trouser ballooned below the knee but “looked good on the leg”, and the clashing tonal interplay of a “coral” leather blouson paired with a vivid “fire” skirt, and his favored use of “two bright blues” in one outfit. “Well, you want a woman to look very feminine, we don’t want to be too serious and give a lesson in fashion,” says Karl.

GUCCI

Carte de Tendre

76

The Gucci Women’s Spring Summer 2016 collection is the result of a Situationist playful practice of passing and travelling around metropolitan spaces, which take up an eccentric approach of geographical displacement interposed by random and undetermined actions, where passageways crystallize based upon the city’s stimuli that coaxes urges towards the unfathomed unknown and anticipate the chance of becoming lost as an opportunity to learn and discover. It is designed particularly as based on clues and hint methods to understand the contemporary; as an exploration process of assembling and understanding symbols, ideas, vital hints and emblematic worlds. Alessandro Michele, Gucci’s recently appointed creative director presented the rebirth of the 70s, where history always looks better the second or the third time it is around, showcasing flared trousers, crazy Elton John glitter glasses (alternates with more-sober Deidre Barlow frames), Lurex ruffles on sleeves and hems, rick-rack trims on block-colored skirts and raised-waist dresses, rendering entirely contemporary ambiances upon sensationally exquisite, feminine, romantic clothes, laden with luxurious craft elements that were disappearing, if not dead in the 70s, but thanks to today’s fabulously-opulent, are in shocking vigor. This map of love collection featured trompe l’oeil pleats on a hand-sequined dress; trompe l’oeil or tapestried flowers on a black softest leather biker jacket; freshly reinterpreted Gucci loafers, this time with block heels, double G logo and painted hearts; black lace bodice that explodes into a lurid red and lime striped skirt and sprouts pale pink sequined ruffled sleeves; a trench coat appears in classic Gucci canvas, plus shine, with tan suede pockets. Fabrics were of 18th Century brocades; Lurex; metallic leathers; iridescent organzas; macramé; floral chiffons; eel skin, sometimes all found onto a single outfit, where patterns clash, chiffon is tiered, a hem scalloped.

The Carte de Tendre or Carte du Tendre (Map of Tendre) was a French map of an imaginary land called Tendre produced by several hands (including Catherine de Rambouillet). It appeared as an engraving (attributed to François Chauveau) in the first part of Madeleine de Scudéry’s 1654-61 novel Clélie. The map represents the path towards love according to the précieuses of the time period. This exploration of the world that resulted in a tender mapping where the aesthetic dimension is deeply instilled with the political, where De Scudéry’s map celebrated an uprising against conventions that was a rebellion that was based upon the recognition of women’s inner world.

Prada exhibits its Spring/Summer 2016 Prada Women’s Collection that is considered as the best out of Milan this season, at a concrete and plastic designed catwalk theme, accentuated with fiberglass and polycarbonate stalactites that affect proportions and angles of the vicious industrial space; portraying about conflict and the contemporary women, about how to decide her place, and about her strong points and struggles with feminism, where all collections where there were no trousers, were worn with oil-slicked kiss-curls and golden lipsticks This Prada’s collection that pushes the boundaries with flair and panache features inundated enhancing details that sometimes disguises itself as utility apparel, such as box pleated, calf length tweed-skirts with white leather back panels; piped, fringed and contrasting inserted pleats Prince of Wales wools; matching and clashing stripy crocodile bags; glitter-ball drop earrings & gold lipstick or clashing printed silk blouses; accompanied with catwalk iridescent lighting and elliptical concrete color benches that hazes the boundaries of catwalk and seats. collections showed extreme liveliness of tulle coats and skirt suits choked in appliquĂŠd red or lime flowers or scored through with metallic snakeskin; drop-waist tulle dresses flecked with large plastic sequins; bright-geometric knits and metallic and suede stilettos with thick white ankle straps; and silver Barbarella boots. Indefinite Hangar showcased brighter features of jangly paillette pompon earrings; photogenic point-toe patent heels in pastel pink and white with silver strapping and a bauble on the toe; 1920s-style silky dresses with a dropped black waistband and an oversized silhouette, striped in 1970s wallpaper burnt orange, avocado, mustard and green colors; others were in sheer tulle, and knitted tanks; that shifted to evening glamour of skirts strewn with huge white paillettes, and coats crusted with sequined flowers. With a blurry background created by the alternating level of catwalk views and transparencies brought about by hanging plastic sheets that act as a virtual mold defining catwalk and seating areas and the concrete ground area acting as the negative of the above scene rendering the impossibility of perceiving the room as a whole, these extreme fashion display of contrasting mix matches with highly unreserved glamour is for those unembarrassed and confident enough of rich looks.

HERMES

Contemporary Woman Hermes brings forth its Spring-Summer 2016 Women Collection upon an unrivaled spirit of understated sophistication and sense of ease. Hermes Creative Director Nadège Vanhee-Cybulski’s sophomore show reveals deeper entrenchment upon Hermes’ understated luxury of Hermes mainstream fashion ensembles. The assortment featured clean lines, crisp edges, sharp geometric color block prints, and graphic prints on silky silhouettes bring about lines that either follow the shape of the body or go in alternatively, where a sleeveless vest is paired with high-waist trousers, while a simplistic A-line dress is matched with black mules and a chunky. Cybulski presented black leather and a geometrical print on off-white pieces; and blended prints and materials where leather becomes soft as silk and flows in the pleats of two-tone skirts furthered with navy blue-black tailoring masterpieces exuding of grid-patterned black-on-cream tops & pants, mustard-color dresses in cotton & leather, accessorized with large quartz, and clear resin cuffs. The assortment resulted in a colorful graphic vision, where easiness is depicted in a Hermes woman wearing her suede dress with leather overalls.

The House of Hermes further arraigned a slim calfskin dress featuring an embroidered pleated silk skirt, and a white sleeveless jumpsuit with red torch-on stripping down the sides, where all polished looks were finish off with sneakers that instantly fended off monotone impressions and providing the most traditional ensemble with a bit of urban energy. The audience was further served surprises of modernity of just launched Hermes straps that were made to be worn with Apple iWatches, adorning the models’ wrists. This season’s Hermes woman brings ambiances of relaxed city-sportiness to the overall panorama scene, giving Hermès trainers with many looks and making a brief return back on the horsey heritage. This Spring & Summer line is not of flashy fashion but more of a carefully tuned sense of a lifestyle that knowingly rises above trendiness, upholding a French;s quiet mystique ritual. “In France, we get acquainted with Hermès at a very early age. Your mom always has a scarf; it’s one of the first objects you look at as a child, and you know it’s precious,” says Nadège, displaying her Hermès-appropriate veneration for pedigree & discreet charm, even while in the midst of plans to “dust off a bit of the vintage nostalgia”. The mission is “to push the borders of the twenty-first century and bring the brand to a place where it’s relevant to wear now,” she furthers. Hermes Plaza Senayan Level 1, Unit 151 A, Jakarta. Ermenegildo ZegnA Masculine Identity

It was another pitch perfect offering from designer Stefano Pilati, who left behind the big production for the Spring/Summer 2016 Ermenegildo Zegna Couture. With all his artifice, there was nothing to distract from a collection that started out strong and kept getting stronger, expression of masculine identity. The attitude is relaxed and sportified but with a delicate elegant summery allure, an accurate balance of fluidity, transparency and lightness, create a new code for a stylish masculine and contemporary personality. Pilati lightens up for his spring-summer 2016 collection. Suiting with clean, fluid shapes comes together in black and white with a pleasant mix of plaid alternatives featured. Staging is important to Pilati. He presented this collection with the all black ensembles that opened the show made the point that the shade looks just as cool in summer as it does in any winter collection. “A deconstructed feeling, but constructed,” Pilati said in an effort to explain dark, languid coats and jackets that flipped open now and then to reveal a colorful madras lining or a drawstring waist on trousers. However, Pilati lightened the mood of those dark pieces via his choice of breathable, fluid fabrics that he crafted into roomy pants, easy blouson jackets, and expertly cut

blazers. But the true breath of fresh air in this collection was the final series of all white looks. He presented this collection on a stark, blinding white set, the runway elevated so that the audience was at eye level with the footwear—fringed booties or slip-ons. Made you think about the businessman in the digital era for whom a suit stands for something other than a regimental uniform for the office. These beautifully constructed ensembles, which blended in seamlessly with their equally lightweight shoulder bag accessories, were finally kept from flying directly up into fashion heaven by some sturdy urbane black footwear. The idea of reconceptualization raised an additional prospect. In a year that sees the 40th anniversary of the beginnings of the Giorgio Armani revolution in menswear, it seems that there are a few notions in fashion that never lose their knowness. Not preppy, not ethnic, just a different way to use color and pattern.

Salvatore Ferragamo Spring/Summer 2016

Massimiliano Giornetti was in a very experimental mood. For spring/ summer 2016 menswear collection at the helm of Italian luxury label Salvatore Ferragamo, this designer embraces a playful and more relaxed attitude, presenting a spring lineup that explores the legendary label’s heritage, combining streetwear references. His goal seemed to be to create a cohesive collection through a number of disjunctive design techniques that showed off the impressive sartorial savoir-faire of the house. The construction of the silhouette is impeccable as usual, with boxy volumes and elongated jackets with subtle vintage references. He shapes a style centred on refined imbalance and designed with idiosyncratic combinations and individual gestures. Sharp graphics and luxurious materials compliment abstract geometrics and organic textures, where aplomb and nonchalance merge into a perfectly balanced symphony of eclecticism. Geometric, often striped, color blocking was the most predominant avenue that Giornetti traveled, using unusual color combinations that saw brown, kaki, and beige pushed up against pink, purple, and green. This collection was brimming with intriguing embellishments that

86

blended two and three dimensional adornment and trompe l’oeil concepts. Sometimes the garments skated to the edge of looking tricksy, but they always stayed on the right side of pretentious luxury. However, it was a lineup that begged for a re-see appointment, as there was just so much intense handiwork on each and every exit. Adding a youthful allure to the whole lineup, the luxury house embraces streetwear, but following its rules of timeless elegance, and the result is a brilliant collection with a multifaceted personality. A tactile collage is the distinctive feature of the accessories like sandals and gym laceups with high rubber soles and fringes on toecaps, straw bags and pouches with leather exteriors, eyewear with inner and outer temples featuring contrasting patterns, monkey-shaped charms and pendants to offset any sense of severity. It was smart that Giornetti slanted all his hard work towards a younger, more urban consumer. That choice gave the collection a sartorial relevance for the customer base that will be most willing to try out some of this show’s more daring designs.

Emporio Armani Startling Satisfaction

Emporio Armani Spring-Summer 2016 Collection at its 40th year of company existence showcases mainstream-evergreen impressions that function as building blocks for a designer wardrobe. Wearable silhouettes were key outwear at Emporio Armani, where the navy checks, commercial separates and tailoring that so characterize the house got gradually more exciting as the 88 looks exited the catwalk. The entrance to the catwalk venue was adorned with city organic Italian ambiances of ten custom-designed sleek matte-black Vespa scooters, where bicycles were pushed at the catwalk, in the further accompaniment of Italian pop music; its traditional straight-lined catwalk had been transformed into a graphic green-lit rectangle, rows of seating had been removed for a more intimate environment, where Robert De Niro front row seat signified Armani’s strong appeal in the market. The Emporio Armani season revealed traditional pleat-fronted tapered pants, unlined suits and preferred muted-hued separates in shades of blue, grey, and bottle green with surprising fabric treatments. In addition to paisley print on jackets, trousers, and accessories, a polka dot patter was brought

to life in perforations punched into pants, while glossy textiles such as nylon, silk, and burnished leathers finalized a polished finish to the sporty but refined assortment. Giorgio Armani pushed the boundaries back upon his signature affection for relaxed trousers, with further endless options, where paired with thin summer-weight knits and unlined jackets in grounded and dusty spring hues, trousers were slouchy, iridescent, tapered, cuffed, cropped, and baggy. Meanwhile, long fluid summer coats and classic footwear brought about the assortment a relaxed but graceful outing effect. The Spring Summer collection disclosed serenity of clothes upon the muted colors of sober gray, navy, and taupe, with accents of green toned down to match; body-lining caress of jackets; suits as effortless as pajamas; waistcoats closed diagonally over bare chests; and indolence nuances from generous volumes of trousers pleats and fishermen’s sandals. Themed “East and West blending without exoticism or ethnic nostalgia,” this season of Armani provided applied pragmatism of tricky textures upon lasers scarified leather jackets; perforated and fabric tiny nicks marked jackets and pants; Armani jacket staple with unstructured ease in cardigan, washed silk and linen, while new slants were lug-soled brogues transformed into slingbacks. La Prairie Noble Beauty

La Prairie harnesses one of earth’s rarest resources from a distant star, and turns it into the ultimate rejuvenation agent that transforms all major visible signs of aging for the most precious asset in a woman’s life: the skin. The platinum is called a noble metal and used for the crown of kings. It was only in the 21st century that the Platinum’s most valuable asset was discovered by science - its ability to rejuvenate the skin if combined in synergy with anti-ageing peptides, vitamins, antioxidants and firming agents. This metal has been the inspiration for La Prairie’s collection. The powers of platinum has the ability to recharge the skin’s electrical balance, enabling it to better absorb substances essential to the skin’s well-being, in addition to helping the skin’s DNA resist aging and providing climate-activated moisture release. Moreover, it also gives the skin an immediate soft splendour reminiscent of platinum. It is precisely because of these qualities, the Platinum collection has been called “the skincare event of the decade”. The Platinum collection of La Prairie consists of Cellular Cream Platinum Rare, Cellular Serum Platinum Rare, Cellular Eye Cream Platinum Rare, and Cellular Eye Essence Platinum Rare. All the four products of serum and cream produce a rare synergy with remarkable result. The Cellular Serum Platinum Rare does not only

98

compliments and reinforces the moisturizing and critical rebalancing benefits of Cellular Cream Platinum Rare, but it also boasts several new de-aging breakthroughs, such as a new skin-brightening complex that attacks hyper-pigmentation from several angles, reducing age spots and discoloration, and an ingenious sugar polymer that creates an invisible tensing mesh on the surface of the skin. The La Prairie’s Cellular Eye Cream Platinum rare extends the transformative powers of Platinum, by enhancing the youth-restoring attributes of the precious metal to the delicate skin around the eyes. Cellular Eye Cream Platinum Rare unites the intense and immediate action of the serum which richly hydrates and moisturizes the skin. It joins Cellular Cream Platinum Rare and Cellular Serum Platinum to empower the skin to function more effectively, restoring the appearance and performance of much younger skin. Cellular Eye Essence Platinum Rare provides extraordinary results for the eyes, which showcases incredible technology and revolutionary delivery systems to transform the eye area. A single drop of this gel serum looks like a pearl quicksilver, but is really a precious combination of La Prairie’s exclusive Cellular Complex, wrinkle plumping peptides, lifters and tighteners, lighteners, hydrators, energizers and anti-oxidants.

Inspired by the horseback riders, Capisco has a “Sit-Stand Mechanism” which gives you a natural upright posture while sitting. This mechanism is successfully achieved through the saddle seat design, where the best posture while sitting and standing can be gained; because no one sits as actively as a rider in their horse’s saddle. The vision of Capisco design is to bring greater freedom of movement, variation and new natural sitting positions such as Forward, Sideways, and Backwards. Both the shape and mechanism of the seats allow users to sit in balance and easily to move forwards and backwards. With the specially designed foot base, Capisco helps to stimulates blood circulation, which is very critical to increase the oxygen flows around the users’ body and to their mind, as well as to help in improving concentration while working. The foot base also allows all users to achieve various positions, to move, and to rest their feet. One of the guiding principle in the development of all the products is focus on environment. HÅG Capisco Puls has a low carbon footprint. No hazardous chemicals are used in the production of the product. The chair contains 28% of recycled material and has a 95% share of recyclable material. Jimmy Gunawan Giving Hospitality an Indonesian Touch

With his unique approach to hospitality, Jimmy Gunawan has found much success and acclaim in the hotel industry. From a very young age, AIM Hospitality Group owner Jimmy Gunawan has always wanted to start a business in the service industry. What started off as a childhood dream became his adult reality. Jimmy, now in his thirties, has earned great reputation for his work in the hotel industry in Bali, most notably one is the Alaya Resort Ubud, which TripAdvisor recently bestowed with a Traveler’s Choice Award and named one of the top 25 hotels in Indonesia. This humble and charismatic man started his career with a simple internship that would later light a love for developing properties. That was back during his college years where he spent five years doing internship at a property development company. “That was when I discovered a new passion for investing in property and development. It was this inspiration that allowed me to see my potential in property development and also made me want to involve myself in the services industry,” Jimmy said. He first embarked on the hotel industry in 2005. While he and his wife Michelle were on a holiday in Bali, the couple got an offer to run the Villa de daun, a small property filled with seven villas owned by Jimmy’s father-in-law. “At the time, I was only 25 years old. I had absolutely no experience in the hotel industry. We both really started from scratch,” Jimmy recalls. Due to his lack of experience, Jimmy had to learn at his feet. He frequently visited other hotels, spas and restaurants to find inspiration and figure out what they didn’t have. It was an intense learning experience for him. By 2006, he had added five more villas to the property. A year later, he and his wife created DaLa Spa. Then in 2008, they developed the Tanaya Bed & Breakfast. But this growth and success wasn’t enough for Jimmy. In 2010, he felt the urge to develop something else from scratch. This time, however, he was more prepared. He was ready to take the next step. He based his new plans on his vision of how hotels ought to be ideally designed and serve its guess. “We believe that guests are entitled to a unique experience being in a hotel. I myself have never stayed at a hotel that felt like a place I could call home and where I could be intimate with the service providers,” Jimmy asserts. He went all out for this new project. He searched around for the right location and finally found the perfect property

in Ubud, which has now become the Alaya Resort Ubud. With a strong vision, passion, focus and hard work, Jimmy finally succeeded in turning his dream into a reality. The results exceeded all of his expectations. By its second year of operations, the Alaya Resort Ubud had already undergone tremendous growth and recognition. It was named among the “Traveler’s Choice 2015” and received a spot in TripAdvisor’s list of the top 25 hotels in Indonesia. “Building the Alaya Resort Ubud has thus far been my biggest challenge. It was like having my first child. I had to be all out in everything,” he says. He expanded even further. The Alaya Resort Kuta opened in 2015 with 116 rooms. The third Alaya has also been constructed with 37 rooms and also located in Ubud. He is also working to make an extension of the Alaya Resort Ubud, which is scheduled for completion by July 2016. Despite all of these new and exciting projects, Jimmy has never forgotten his first big project, the Alaya Resort Ubud. That place has always held a special place in his heart. “My favorite project is very clearly the Alaya Resort Ubud, as it was my first major project,” he says. Jimmy attributes much of the Alaya’s success to the influence he gained from his upbringing. His parents had a business in fruit distribution. This meant that he came to become very intimate with the health benefits of fruits. “The benefits of these habits that I experienced made me think about turning them into a service that we could give to our guests,” Jimmy further says. What resulted was a personal, Indonesian approach to service. In particular, it also meant a healthy approach to food for guests. For example, guests can choose from a variety of fruit juices (always made fresh) and coffee drinks (made directly from authentic coffee seeds acquired from coffee-making regions, including the coffee of Bali). Jimmy also ensures that his hotel chefs always provide the right breakfast materials. “In my view, breakfast services as the ‘ammunition’ you need to do your daily activities. That is why we want all of our guests to happily start their morning with healthy food,” Jimmy says. Aside from work, Jimmy loves to spend time with his family. For him, this quality time is a source of joy. He loves accompanying his wife shopping or buying craftworks that can be used to decorate their hotel interiors. “I always tell my children to have a sustained relationship with the creator of the universe, and with other people and to preserve the environment,” he says.

Satya HAngga Yudha w.P Indonesia’s Energy Sector Satya Hangga Yudha Widya Putra is currently pursuing a Master of Science degree in Global Affairs with a concentration in Environment/Energy Policy at New York University. Unlike most countries around the world, Indonesia is a democratic archipelagic nation that comprises of 256 million people, 34 provinces, 13,000 islands, and more than 740 languages. Around 90% of our population is Muslim, making us the largest Muslim country, and 4th most populous nation in the world. Our central island is Java, and it houses 51% of our people. Ever since the fall of Suharto in 1998, we became a democratic nation and had achieved tremendous amounts of progress. We are currently the 8th biggest economy in the world (adjusted for Purchasing Power Parity) and our national income per capita rose from $560 in 2000 to $3,650 in 2014 (Gini Coefficient currently stands between 36 - 41). Since we rely on our domestic economy, we can achieve a growth rate of more than 5% over the last 10 years, despite the crises that struck the United States and Europe. Indonesia is also a member of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC), a step toward integration and greater cooperation among members of the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN). Though this may somewhat resemble the European Union (EU) and its optimistic outlook, it has detrimental consequences for the state of Indonesia’s economy. Presently, our country has yet to be competitive enough to reap the benefits of AEC. As a result, other nations will profit from our large market while we lag behind. But this is not the only problem Indonesia faces. With a growing population and rising energy demand (43% rise between 2003 and 2013), we have become more dependent on fossil fuels. As a state, our energy mix consists of petroleum (38%), coal (25%), and natural gas (15%) and we rely on them as our primary sources of energy. Indonesia now has problems attracting sufficient investment because of inadequate infrastructure and a complex regulatory environment. To be precise, the key areas that are becoming a barrier to foreign businesses are challenging oil and natural gas plays, high taxes on production and exploration, limitations on exports, and slow processes to renew contracts. Regardless of the Indonesian governments attention on private sector involvement in the energy industry, a lot of projects keep on getting delayed because of uncertainties and regulatory challenges that have made it harder to predict longterm outcomes. An example would be the Masela and Indonesia Deepwater Development (IDD) gas block development plan. Because our islands are scattered, it has become a challenge to match energy supplies from eastern provinces with demand coming from Java and Sumatra. Aging oil fields and lack of infrastructure has made it harder for Indonesia to meet its targets. Urbanization in other parts of the country is also increasing at a faster rate than energy infrastructure

138

development. After we had left Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) in January 2009, we rejoined the cartel in December 2015 to secure crude oil supplies. Indonesia aims at trying to meet oil imports at a reasonable price and satisfy domestic demand. In addition, we intend to reduce our reliance on petroleum to a 25% share while raising coal and natural gas to 30% and 22% by 2025. Although coal is a crucial part of our energy mix, Indonesia exports 80% of its low and medium-rank coal to countries such as China, Japan, South Korea, India, and Taiwan, and imports high-rank coal from India, China, and Australia. Coal trade has become a major problem in our energy sector, and many have questioned why we export coal and buy them at a higher price from countries that receives our coal? Though it may be difficult to 100% convert from nonrenewable to renewable energy at a low oil price environment, Indonesia plans on leveraging our renewable sources of solar, biomass and waste, geothermal, and hydro power. In light of the COP21 talks that took place in Paris from November 30 to December 11 of 2015, this has become good news. Indonesia has been impacted by the consequences of global warming like the eradication of low-lying islands that affected 42 million people, increasing floods, storms, heat waves, droughts, and the extinction of plants and animals. Our goal is to cut emissions by 29% by 2030. However, we can increase that figure to 41% with international assistance. The two key words here are “international assistance.” We have been given promise by Nordic countries, which consist of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden that we will be offered financial support for our implementation of green energy. Nonetheless, we are required to make certain amounts of progress before the money flows to our government. The problem is, our government does not have sufficient amount of capital to build these renewable energy industries. In consequence, Indonesia still needs foreign aid from other countries as well as the erection of infrastructures and an increase in foreign talent to tackle the issues of climate change that is directly linked to global warming. Presently, Indonesia’s goal is to raise the use of total renewable energy (including hydropower) to 19% by 2019 and to 23% by 2025. Solar, wind, biomass, and geothermal still comprise a small part of Indonesia’s energy portfolio. However, Indonesia is planning to place a substantial investment in solar. The Indonesian government has an ambitious goal of acquiring 100% electrification rate by 2020. But for us to meet this demand, there needs to be support from our government, the private sector, and foreign nations for our climate change objectives. The President of Indonesia holds the power to formulate oil and gas policies while the parliament reviews and approves these policies. Through cooperation we can then start to make meaningful progress.

Blancpain

A Loveable Ladybird This Saint Valentine’s Day, the house of Blancpain, the watch manufacturer from Le Brassus, is celebrating the occasion in grand style by creating the 99-piece limited edition of ladybird to write a new episode in its enduring love story with women. Instantly recognizeable by its delightfully curved diminutive size, it is firmly in the spotlight for this most romantic day of the year. Blancpain has created for this occasion a mother-of-pearl dial adorned with brilliant-cut diamonds and rubies on its upper part. The 21.5 mm-diameter white gold case of this Ladybird Saint Valentine’s Day 2016 model is lit up by a bezel set with more than 0.5 carats of diamonds. Beating at the heart of this new two-hand model is the 15.7 mm-diameter self-winding 6150 movement: one of the smallest in the world and now equipped with a silicon balance-spring. This removable white gold charm features a ruby heart and a diamond arrow.

Chopard Declaration of Happiness Chopard presented a completely new approach to the Happy Hearts collection, in which colour made a magnificent entrance, withturquoise, onyx, mother-of-pearl, lapis lazuli or set diamond-set hearts rubbing shoulders with traditionally open hearts. The line now features a stellar new bangle bracelet graced with two hearts facing each other at each tip and performing an elegant pas de deux. Happy Hearts feature fine slender white or rose gold chainsdotted withwide openhearts and dainty hearts enclosing mobile diamonds. The supple nature of these jewellery creations, combined with the moving diamonds and the random nature of the motifs, compose a jewellery line imbued withdistinctive chic and exquisite femininity.

Tiffany & Co.

Tiffany Diamond Engagement Rings With the introduction of the Tiffany® Setting in 1886, Tiffany started a trend that grew into a cherished custom. This innovative setting lifts the diamond off the band into the light, maximizing the stone’s natural radiance. After that Tiffany launch Tiffany Lucida®, Tiffany Novo®, Tiffany Soleste® And Tiffany Harmony®. These five icons are joined by other masterpieces as the engagement ring collection. Tiffany turned these gems into the most exquisite and dazzling jewellery the world has ever seen. Each is a symbol that is worthy of true love and the promise of a lifetime of shared happiness together.

defined by the ink alone, but rather, artists -especially Asians- create varied stylistic approaches and have consistently been cultivating, experimenting and innovating their art in the ink medium. The ink art genre is typically associated as being “Chinese”, however, it has lately expanded to encompass a broader range of traditions and cultures, and thus appeal to collectors across categories. Sotheby Hong Kong’s collection on Spring Sale this year will be the Origo Collection which represents a significant survey of contemporary ink works of diverse styles. Many of the established Asian artists contributing to the collection are considered pioneers of their generation for innovation in composition, technique, use of media which evokes a link with the ink painting tradition. This innovation involves using

acrylic and oil paper, film, ink rubbing, printmaking, pen and pencil in provocative and dynamic dialogue, all of which challenge viewers’ expectation about the nature of ink painting. Besides the intriguing innovation, the size of some of the items in the collection also plays an important role in attracting interest. Almost one third of the Origo Collection are monumental in scale, measuring close to 3 metres or more in either height or length, which immediately demands the attention of their audience. The Origo Collection will be on Asia Travelling Exhibition, starting in London in early February and continuing on to Shanghai, Beijing, New York, Taipei and Hong Kong.
