Minsk - the Capital of Belarus

Belarus

A Country Beyond Your Imagination There are many reasons for you to come to Belarus. Other than its magnificent nature, historic buildings, it also offers along list of exquisite cuisine. With territory of 207.6 square kilometers and location in the very heart of Europe Belarus borders with Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Russia and Ukraine. Back to the Middles Age’s era, the lands of modern Belarus were called the Country of Castles, where the most important historic events of Europe took place. Today it is more often called “blue-eyed”, a country of thousands of lakes. And thanks to the forests, which occupy one third of its territory, and the unique bog complexes it is also called the “lungs of Europe”. You can do and see numberless nature activity, from resting in the

20

most untouched corners of nature, hunt in the royal forest reserve or fish in one of the thousands of glacial lakes. No wonder in 2015, Belarus was placed second in the Agro Tourism category by the National Geographic Traveler Award. Belavezhskaya Pushcha National Park, a Unesco World Heritage Siteis located 60km north of Brest. Belavezhskaya Pushcha National Park is the oldest wildlife sanctuaryforest in Europe and is the pride of Belarus. Less than a half of the park’s territory lies in Poland, where it’s called Białowieza National Park. Some 1300 sq km of primeval forest is located here. It’s all that remains of an ancient forest that eight centuries ago covered northern Europe. Within the park you can find oak trees that age more than 600 years

old and pines that age at least 300 years old. Other than its flora, the park also offers at least 55 mammal species, including deer, lynx, boars, wild horses, wolves, elk, ermines, badgers, martens, otters, mink and beavers. But what makes this park fascinating is that it’s also the home for more than 300 or so European bison, Zoobr, the largest mammalson the continent. This species were almost driven to extinction in 1919. Now there are more than 3000 of them of which more than 300 live in the Belavezhskaya Pushcha. Besides, since June 12, 2015 foreign citizens are allowed to visit the National Park Independence Square

«BelovezhskayaPushcha» visa-free. Other than wildlife, Belarus also offers a journey full of history. Two most famous historic places to visit are Mir and Nesvizh Castles, both were built at the end of 15th – early 16th century. The government of Belarus puts a lot of effort in restoring the placesso now they have become magnets for tourists wishing to come to Belarus. Mir Castle is a unique monument of Belarusian architecture. It is included into the UNESCO List of World Heritage. Duke Ilinich built the castle in the Gothic style. Approximately in the middle of the 16th century Mir Castle became the property of Duke Radziwill who finished the construction of the

22

castle. There is a legend that somewhere in Radziwilles’ castle innumerable treasures are hidden and until now people have been trying to find them. Nesvizh Castle was also built by the Radziwilles. They began the construction of a new castle on the place of the previous one made of wood. A famous Italian architect Giovanni Bernadone was invited for this project (he was also the one who built the Radziwilles burial vault). After the restoration over 30 fully refurbished state rooms are open now, including a very impressive inner courtyard. You can easily spend a couple of hours looking around. The hunting trophies rooms are well worth the price of the entry. Other than the two castles, a great historic monument of World War

II is located here in Belarus. The Brest Fortress, the silent witness of the devastating battle which happened here when German troops advanced into the territory of the Soviet Union in the early days of the Operation Barbarossa in 1941. There is very little that remains from the fortress, but its main entrance gate has remained and now it is the most iconic building. The fortress was built between 1838 and 1842, but during World War II it was used mainly as barracks. Two army regiments were located here when German troops launched a surprise attack in 1941. The regiments defended the fortress for an astounding month and were venerated as national legends thanks to Stalin’s propaganda machine.

Last but not least, savour in the exquisite cuisine of Belarus. The Belarusian culinary traditions represent a mix of Baltic, Slavic, Jewish and partly German cuisines. Therefore, the Belarusian cuisine is one of the most diverse on the continent with a wide use of meat and dairy products. A must to try cuisine is the famous, draniki, a potato pancake served with sour cream, garlic or onion. You also should try their traditional Belarusian bread baked with the use of rye flour. So, if you feel like to travel, discover new countries, get acquainted with new people and collect vivid impressions, pack your bags and arrange your trip. It is time to visit Belarus and surely it will be an amazing trip!

The Georgian Apostolic Autocephalous Orthodox Church is one of the world’s most ancient Christian Churches, founded in the 1st century by the Apostle Andrew. In fact, Christianity was declared as a state religion in 326. While many European nations have seen religious adherence fall in recent decades, the Orthodox Church in Georgia is booming. Attendance, adherence and respect for the Church are all growing. In Georgia, you can also enjoy their cultural sites. There are three Georgian cultural sites that represented in the World Heritage List of UNESCO; Upper Svaneti the medieval villages and tower houses with mountain scenery; The Historical Monuments of Mtskheta, that consists of the Jvari Monastery, the Svetitstkhoveli Cathedral and the Samtavro Monastery; and Bagrati Cathedral and Gelati Monastery, a well-preserved complex, with wonderful mosaics and wall paintings.

PARTHENON: No journey to Greece is complete without a visit to its stunning ancient buildings. The enduring symbol of ancient Greece and of Athenian democracy, Parthenon, is an obligatory stop in Athens. Parthenon was dedicated to the city’s patron goddess Athena, a shrine to whom was placed inside the temple. It is perched atop the Acropolis, the famous archaeological site masterminded by Pericles during Greece’s greatest power as a monument to the cultural and political achievements of the inhabitants of Athens. Parthenon itself is often dubbed as the most aesthetically compelling temple ever known. With its imposing columns, decorative stonework and impressive sculptures standing in harmony with the natural setting, Parthenon is indeed the finest example of Greek architecture. Getting to the Acropolis is easy, all you have to do is wander uphill and make sure to purchase your water bottles before reaching the ticket counter. SANTORINI : In Santorini, everything is bursting with bright colors: whitewashed cube-shaped houses lapped up by the lapis lazuli sea and topped off with sunset that light up the caldera. This volcanic island nestled in the middle of the Aegean is well known to draw throng of tourists during its peak season, but its local charm and immense beauty make Santorini an unforgettable trip despite the crowd.

Land of Wonders

Astana City

The world’s 9th largest country, Kazakhstan, has a lot to offer. It is more than twice the size of the other Central Asian states combined. It is the richest country in Central Asia, due to its large oil and natural gas reserves. That is why you can find better accommodation and services here other than other Central Asia country. You can also choose a wide range of tourism. There are many tourist attractions throughout the country, but foreigners mainly visit the two wellknown cities: Astana and Almaty. Astana, the capital of Kazakhsta has modern and unique architecture. Most tourists visit national symbol called Bayterek, national museums, parks, theaters and many more. Bayterek is a tall building that offers a great view of the city as well as an art gallery, an aquarium and a restaurant. The locals nicknamed it “Chupa Chups” due to its similarity to a giant lollipop. In the centre of the top sphere, President Nazarbayev has made a golden palm print where visitors may put their own hands. Besides Bayterek, there are a lot more unique places in Astana. Like Khan Shatyr, a giant transparent tent big enough to hold 10,000 people, covering an area larger than 10 stadiums. It contains a park, a shopping entertainment area, a boating river, The Pyramid Peace

a minigolf and an indoor beach resort. There are also several of museums in Astana like Atameken Map of Kazakhstan and The President’s Museum of Kazakhstan. Atameken Map of Kazakhstan is an outdoor museum giving you an overview of the entire country in a miniature version. The President’s Museum of Kazakhstan contains exhibitions about the history of the country, the main attraction is a replica of the Golden Man costume, a warrior’s suit that was found in a tomb east of Almaty. Kazakhstan’s largest city, Almaty, has beautiful nature. As a result, top tourist destinations include national parks, lakes, where during summer people go for hiking and picnics, and during winter for skating and skiing. If you happen to visit Almaty during the summer, you could pack a picnic and drive 2 hours to the Tamgaly petroglyphs or find a good hiking spot around the Big Almaty Lake area up in the mountains. But if you happen to visit Almaty during the winter, you could skate at Medeu Ice Skating stadium or ski at Chimbulak, Akbagan and Tabagan ski resorts. There are also several great and unique tourism spots in Almaty like the Presidential Palace. Although you will not be allowed to go inside, the scenery and architecture is astonishing. expos of the decade. Expo 2017 is an acknowledged expo and part of the World’s Fair system. Kazakhstan chose the theme “Future Energy”, and aims to create a global debate between countries, NGOs, companies and the general public on the crucial question: “how do we ensure safe and sustainable access to energy for all while reducing CO2 emissions?” Kazakhstan’s choice of the topic reflects the recognition by the country’s leaders and policymakers that even its vast reserves of natural energy resources are ultimately finite and that eventually the country and the rest of the world will have to make a transition to alternative energy sources and greener economies. The expo is expected to draw five million visitors over three months. Astana Expo 2017 will be the first time that a major international exhibition of this kind

is coming to a country from the former Soviet Union. Hosting acknowledged expos is a major coup for any nation. Because there are more than 100 countries and 25 international organizations expected to participate. Astana expo will be held on June to September 2017. Hosting such event shows Kazakhstan’s position in global platform. It is also opportunity to attract further investment and more tourists. In September 2013, Kazakhstan announced its bid to secure a seat as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council in the years 2017-2018. Kazakhstan’s bid is based on four central pillars: food security, water security, energy security and nuclear security.

The country is a first-time candidate, running a campaign in accordance with the principles of fair and equitable geographical rotation and adequate representation in the Council of all Member States. As a regional leader and global partner in matters of energy security, and a valuable contributor to international peacekeeping missions, Kazakhstan wishes to bring its unique experience and expertise to bear on some of the pressing challenges currently facing the UNSC. So if you like discovering new places, unique buildings and monuments, meeting new people, and enjoying the beautiful nature. Do not hesitate to go to Kazakhstan where the land of wonder is ready for you to explore.

Lofoten is known for excellent fishing and nature attractions, and small villages off the beaten track. It is also one of Norway’s best sites for surfing, and one of the world’s northernmost. Lofoten also has a strong connection to the Viking Age, and at Lofotr Viking Museum you can experience the Viking Age as it really was. What is fascinating here is, you get to choose to enjoy midnight sun between late May and mid July or the northern lights can be viewed from September to mid April. Tromso is where the arctic adventure begins, it also called the Getaway to the Artic. It is a popular destination for people wanting to catch a glimpse of the northern lights, with a season that last from September throughout March. Another often-used phrase used to describe the 20-kilomtre long between Hellesylt and Geiranger is “The pearl of the fjords”. The deep blue UNESCO-protected Geirangerfjord is surrounded by majestic, snow-covered mountain peaks, wild waterfalls and lush, green vegetation. Teeming bird rocks in Hornøya, a snow hotel, dramatic war stories and a witch monument in Vardø are among the attractions awaiting visitors in Kirkenes and Eastern Finnmark. The Kirkenes Snowhotel, a hotel built from scratch every year, opened between December and April.

Ålesund and the surrounding areas are among the most visited sites for tourists in Norway. Many use The Art Nouveau town to explore the Geirangerfjord, the bird sanctuary island of Runde, or snow-capped summits of the Hjørundfjord and the Sunnmørsalpene. Last but not least, here’s a warm note from Madame Ambassador of Norway to welcome the Indonesian tourist: “Well of course Indonesians love salmon from Norway. It is a healthy delicacy, and I hope more and more Indonesians will get a chance to enjoy it! And then Norway is probably the most exotic easily accessible tourist destination for Indonesians. They appreciate the clean air, the blue water, the mountains and fjords, as well as enjoyable modern walkable cities. And hotels and restaurants in Norway love Indonesian tourists! They see them as polite, smart and easygoing tourists!”

CARTIER

Legendary Diamond Effects

The beginning of Cartier’s story started at 13 rue de la Paix, where a search for extremely rare gemstones became a lesson in wonder, after a near century of technical innovation with heavy interlacing strands of silver metamorphosed into platinum embroidery had become a pure movement. Cartier has turned the jeweller’s art into a experimental way of manipulating light and transparency, translating relief and depth into highly distinctive jewellery sets. It is in these exquisite sets that Cartier combines excellence with the intuition of sublime technique, where a row of diamonds worn as a bracelet, a tiara sparkling with a thousand fires, a ceremonial necklace straight out of The Thousand and One Nights, becomes magnificent messengers of the glance, the hand and the expertise. These unique way of exalting stones to give them an exceptional presence on the body of the women who wear them, have become a signature of Cartier. A play of instinct and precision that come together in a festival of light is expressed through extreme encounters between onyx and diamond; geometry and movement; classicism and extravagance. Over the span of almost one century, Cartier made itself a name where its signature is enhancing gemstones to make legendary, unforgettable sets, inventing jewellery with cosmic reflections from one decade to the next. One of the legendary of the legendaries is

46

the Cartier Royal collection which was presented on the occasion of the 27th Biennale de Paris in 2014. The collection consisted of over a hundred pieces of craftsmanship and of the “eye” of the Maison considered to be “jeweller to kings and king of jewellers.” This majestic collection stayed true to tradition, and yet embedding in itself Cartier’s signature of legendary set. In every period of history, Cartier’s innovations correspond to remarkable upheavals in fashion and style. The 1920’s low-waist dress showcased the diamond long necklace, often with a detachable central pendant. From “Halo” headbands, to Cartier-patented clip brooches, the jeweller has always reflected the cuttingedge, visionary boldness of trendsetters in its creations. These trendsetters include Countess Astor, Elsie de Wolfe, and also the daughter of American financier Jay Gould, Anna Gould. Without any shadow of a doubt, the diamond effect thrives at Cartier. Cartier’s signature diamond effect only results in magnificent legendary stones in jewellery sets. The most beautiful diamonds in the world have had their light enhanced by Cartier’s expertise. According to Cartier’s Pierre Rainero, Image and Style director, most of the largest diamonds in the world have travelled through the Cartier workshop at 13 rue de la Paix. This is how Cartier got hold of the world-famous Star of the South, a 128.48 carat stone mounted a diamond necklace that was the colelction of the Gaekwar of Baroda for 80 years. Along with this enormous stone sat the English Dresden diamond - a pure pear-shaped gemstone of 78.53 carats. Later on, Cartier reincarnated the Star of the South on a dazzling bracelet.

Another legendary stone was the 69.42-carat diamond worn by Elizabeth Taylor as she visited European soil on the occasion of Princess Grace’s birthday. Three body-guards had to escort her in Monaco. As it was first purchased by Cartier in 1969, the price of the stone, originally from South Africa, exceeded one million dollars at public auction. It was Richard Burton, who then convinced Cartier to sell him the stone, which is how it is now named the Cartier-Burton-Taylor diamond. On the jeweller Louis Cartier’s 100th birthday celebration, a perfect pearshaped diamond of 107.70 carats “as big as a baby’s fist”, cut from a 400-carat raw diamond discovered in South Africa in 1974, was exhibited in New York in 1976. It was one of the very few gems of over 100 carats that received a D certificate - a certificate of “Flawless” - from the Gemological Institute of America. Cartier’s Star of South Africa was originally a raw diamond of 83.50

48

carats found in Hopetown found by a neighbouring shepherd. It was the first gemstone-quality diamond, cut in Amsterdam in a pear shape, then mounted in a brooch by Cartier New York in the late 1910’s. The Star of South Africa was proposed for an exchanged with 500 sheep, 10 bullocks and a horse in 1869. Another exotic story of Cartier’s legendary stones is told by the necklace of the Maharaja Sir Bhupindar Singh of Patiala. He placed an extraordinary order in 1928, a necklace composing 2930 diamonds and featuring as its centrepiece an exceptional 234.69 carat yellow diamond, that was presented in Paris during the Universal Exhibition of 1889. This was the largest necklace ever produced by Cartier. But the Jubilee was the largest single white diamond and most famous in the world as it was discovered in South Africa in 1895. The Jubilee was sent to Amsterdam and transformed by lapidaries in 1897 into 88 facets.

Wiwi Aswiana, who - with her husband - owns a successful business in furniture and propolis import, has turned her passionate hobby into her own patriotic mission and business using precious stones. The company, Maisya Jewellery was established in 2005 and has already had a track record in sales in both international and national markets. It was only in last February that a new line of the company, Maisya Limited Jewellery, was launched. Roger Dubuis Black Velvet Uncompromising Femininity

Roger Dubuis presents its Black Velvet gorgeous timepiece collection as a conquering World-Premiere Trilogy. The trilogy is defined by about a carat-halo of 66 Paraiba tourmalines that embellishes the bezel & ‘third-lug’ décor that glow with singular vibrancy and matched by the shimmering dove grey of a polished satin-finish strap; a white mother-of-pearl dial encircled by 66 black spinels gemstones that totals to about 1.3 carats; and pristine nobility of white diamonds framing the mother-of-pearl dial, together with an perfect and charming white strap. Roger Dubuis Product Strategy Director Gregory Bruttin explains, “The sheer complexity of the challenges involved in creating the Black Velvet trilogy makes it a perfect example of why Roger Dubuis is indeed the ‘jeweler of rare artistic masterpieces’. It is unequivocally a jeweler through its discerning choice of gems and the technical mastery exemplified in their setting. Its horological masterpieces are inherently rare both in terms of the gems that are chosen and by the daring associations they embody. They

are moreover inherently artistic through their aesthetic equilibrium as well as the play on color contrasts, geometrical shapes and subtle textures.” Every Black Velvet model with the trilogy reveals pioneering unprecedented use of gem-setting on carbon or “soft stones in the sky”, which brought about a brand new evolved & duly patented technique. Due to the fact that diamonds are also a crystalline form of carbon, the relation between the gem-set carbon and diamonds can be seen as the association between two kinds of gems. These pioneering models change the masculine view of carbon, which is formed here in a way that surfaces unmistakable feminine nuances. The high-tech material of the Black Velvet assortment is ten times lighter than

gold that further provides an outstandingly inimitable airy & pleasurable sensation on the wrist, where a multi-layered work-method brings about a mottled, wave-life outcome that provides truly unique appearances to each timepiece. Roger Dubuis has been at the forefront of contemporary Haute Horlogerie since 1995, where the Roger Dubuis Hommage, Excalibur, Velvet, Pulsion and La Monégasque collections are distributed worldwide through an exclusive sales network and boutiques. A burnt-out outline in suede brings about a dancing leopard print on bare skin. The line’s silhouettes come in long dresses either straight or dropped; alternatively they are elaborated with statement frills. Outline patterns differ strongly between body-conscious and easy, where boundaries between baroque & minimal, recognizable & new-fangled are distorted and in the end redefined. Ball skirts blended with sweatshirts, and denim jackets are embellished with craftsmanship customarily set aside for evening. These methods & fabrics of leather matching day & night contrasts like silk, chiffon with denim are practiced together continually, creating a fresh expression of luxury.

BOTTEGA VENETA

Women’s Spring Summer 2016 Collection Bottega Veneta Women’s Spring Summer 2016 Collection showcases eclecticism & freedom in an assortment of individual, well realized works. “For me, being outside is the number one thing. The more I can get out of an urban environment, the better it gets. This collection started with the outdoors, hiking, sailing, big nature,” says Creative Director Tomas Maier. The House’s famous motto, “When your own initials are enough,” conveys a philosophy of individuality & confidence that now applies to a range of products that include women’s & men’s ready-to-wear, fine jewelry, furniture, among others. Particular materials & methods are unconventionally assorted, crossing the border between the technical & the dreamy, where functionality produces decorations of hiking ropes, clasps, drawstring pulls and grommets, whilst asymmetry of the sail characterizes fresh, crisp, roomy dresses. “It’s about materials and what you can do with them. We create all our own materials, so we can push ahead and do something different. This is for the individual, the eccentric, the exceptional,” furthers Tomas Maier.

Accessories offer bags that reveal leather or exotic skin rope trims in tune with the assortment’s theme, alongside bags with exotic skin marquetry and a recurring slouchy fad from the Bottega Veneta archive. Sterling silver jewelry is polished with aged looks, like worn off gold, with tourmalines & smoked quartz, often in a new S-link. New cats-eye sunglasses show metal rope details, which look like woven through and extended out to as stems. Shoes are flat, like patent sailing slip-ons with a fine tire tread, espadrille lace-ups and platform clogs, also trekking sandals, with respective unique webbing that give off impressions as if repaired on the road. “There is a romance to the trip, to travel, to the trek in the open air,” declares Tomas. Founded in Vicenza in 1966, Bottega Veneta is steep in the traditions of Italy’s master leather craftsmen. There is an extraordinary & enthused teamwork between artisan & designer, where a school to train & support future generations of leather artisans was opened in the summer of 2006, in awareness of the significance of artisanal craftsmanship & the vulnerability of this time-honored way of life. Distribution of Bottega Veneta products is global, encircling Europe, Australia, Asia, North and South America, where wholesale distribution in selected specialty & department stores is accompanied by a increasing number of Bottega Veneta-owned boutiques. These boutiques designed by Tomas Maier & meticulously constructed to Bottega Veneta’s exacting standards.

VERSACE

Unleashed in The Urban Jungle The Versace ladies walked out in rhythm with the confidence-generating beat of “Transition” by Violet and friends. With long naked legs, some with boyish pant suit and flats, the musical theme gave a boost for the inner women to come out and just get rid of every single obstacle that stops them from doing what they really want. The song was composed for International Women’s Day, and specifically chosen by Donatella Versace because of the confidence it incites in the listeners. “When I heard it, I was so sure of myself,” said Donatella Versace to Vogue, “I wanted to challenge myself, to do something strong.” Versace’s Womenswear Collection 2016 grabbed the attention of so many women as the boyish and masculine style is portrait and captured in an unusual sexy way, with silhouette and exposure of skin. With all the war raging in the world today, military, khaki green and energised animal prints, dominates the collection. Masculine tailoring is feminised by a darted, elegantly sculpted waist, showing all legs and an addictive injection of sexiness - a quality which has been always consistently present in Versace’s collections.

The runway was stormed by an image of combat which marched through the show. Versace uses her runway to reflect not only the wars out there but also her own private battle within herself as she throws away self-imposed restraints. It is a reflection of the Versace women unleashed into the urban jungle, free from her battles, free from worries. The slouchy boy-cut pants, sportswear, utility jackets, polo shirts, sweatshirts are combined with acid leopard and zebra prints, but never left behind the feminine touch, camouflaging the masculine through flowing gowns of animal print silk chiffon; fluttery, spilt-to-the-thigh gowns; curvy dresses spontaneously tied at the shoulder and hip; and laces which gives the effect of animal print against the skin. Rich details on the collection toughens the luxury which comes from suede zip-up or laminated boucle jacket, either topstiched with animal prints or embellished with sequins. Even the sandals with frayed chiffon and selected bags and backpacks are enhanced with sequins. Young white skinny models come out swinging along, walking out on clogs and sporty slides, yet sexy to the core.

MICHAEL KORS Blend Away

The runway opened with an austere black linen canvas coat over a white shirt, suggesting as if the model, Sasha Pivavora, skipped the whole summer altogether and had fast-forwarded into autumn. The collection, however, eased down to a more typically Michael Kors - the usual beachy feeling, easy going and light. Every piece and fits of the collection showed more of a popular taste. His goal was to bring his customers to ease into spring gently. The simplicity - yet chick - no fuss, no muss designs are meant to organically blend into an existing collection of a woman’s wardrobe. The collection continued with the usual summer beach sense of Kors. The pieces are destined to ease into the popular taste and become instant favourites. His spring collection adapts to pretty much any sartorial setting. Nothing will look out of place. The crimson poppy print silk chiffon handkerchief dress, the black grommeted georgette pleated dress, lapis poppy print georgette dress with frayed floral embroidery, all of which are easy to please whose designs work perfectly well just about anywhere. The whole collection has an earthy femininity to it and held in its natural state.

68

Nothing is overly in your face. A warmer more autumn pieces of the collection is thrown onto the catwalk once in a while. Kors starts with black fil coupe organza pullover, matched with black fil coupe organza skirt. A crimson poppy print georgette dress with frayed floral embroidery brings back the cheerful colour of spring. It then throws in a much open black and lapis poppy embroidered cotton matelesse dress, shifting back and forth from spring to autumn. Occasionally, pieces of immaculate beachwear appeared: a black surplice and a nutmeg one-shoulder wrap maillot, the later accessorised by a lowslung leather bags. A set of summer dresses were inserted among the jump of autumn and spring. Summer-in-the-city dresses appeared in white tank tops, black stretch viscose tank, with black grommeted georgette pleated skirt, and lapis poppy print georgette pleated column. The joy of dressing in this collection was kept light and easy, and even faultless. Kors successfully brought his collection to ease into the new season.

Gucci Détournement

Gucci showcases its Spring & Summer Menswear in a Guy Debord Détournement theme. “Détournement is the opposite of quotation” says Guy Debord, which is the returning of decontextualized fragments back into motion, such as accidentally discovered by objects and broken away from their past or pre-existing things that lost their real definition. “Detournement is the art of taking some parts of the past and using them in the present with a contemporary approach and away from their original contest” states Gucci Creative Director Alessandro Michele and further exclaims “I love to work with the past to translate the future,” where “My idea of masculinity is beauty. If you want to be beauty you can be beauty how you want; it doesn’t mean that you are not a man or woman.” The theme of Détournement can be perceived as an artistic skill to reunite disseminated fragments into an entirely novel definition, where via playful aptitudes of intercepting existences and reconstructing back it in unanticipated frame of orientation, with each fragment obtaining vibrant new drives. The outcome is a masterpiece symphony of repossessed artworks where antique definitions and novel qualities live together eclectically in a world where novel meanings and tenets reappear.

The Gucci Men’s Spring Summer assortment moves eclectically in this direction, where every collection is fashioned from combinations and mishmashes of reminiscences projected against a new expressive horizon. Poetic in its origin of wholly fresh connotations, the patterns, trimmings, details and methods converge in a newfound design, bringing about changes in insight. The retrieval of fragments from the mysterious space and time doesn’t return them back to their identical form, where it’s not a lethargic re-invention of history; instead it’s a rekindling of the likelihood for what it was. “Memory is in fact a powerful instrument, capable of restoring to the past its sense of possibility and a new raison d’étre,” Guy Debord. Inside this plot, the playful run-through of situational détournement produces displacements through the re-appropriation of broad and decontextualized pieces that launches new semantics and new thoughts of beauty. The value that authenticates it is not only aesthetics but as a political device as well, where its prowess is in the capability of breaking existing traditions and offering foretastes of novel possibilities upon freedom and emancipation.

HERMÈS Inspiration 70

Hermès Spring/ Summer 2016 Menwear collection got its inspiration from the 1970’s. The French House of Fashion pairs highly wearable basics and outerwear with bold statement pieces that reminds us how this label is still the same as the one that made the luxurious US$90,000 crocodile leather T-shirt about 3 years ago. It is still under the direction of Véronique Nichanian who seems to have done everything to keep the luxury label on top of the world.

72

This time it was not a crocodile that brings in the fame. This time, it was a fabric in the Spring/ Summer 2016 Men collection - a goatskin which was somehow imprinted with silk and twill - that counted as a conceptual breakthrough. It is very much Hermès’ signature - skin and silk; however, never before have they put the two together in one material. Being typical Nichanian, the skin-silk combination is used as a signal achievement in this season’s collection.

Fashion HERMES Men February 2016.indd 72

4/16/16 1:59 AM

Another out of the box idea is the elasticated waist of the vibrant green suede pants, or the voile blouson shirtless or a hooded sweatshirt out of water snake, which coloured a dynamic tomato red. Almost all the pieces were paired with sandals. This collection is casual in details, yet powerful in defying the notion of the way the haute bourgeoisie would actually dress. Even the conventional image of Hermès did not keep Nichanian from her free imagination. However, signature details and label trademarks are ever present: the arsenal of flamboyant patterns and motifs, artistically in line with Impressionist paintings. Half-buttoned shirts, and tasteful outerwear for an off-duty, leisurely look, combined with the label’s proud scarves, the 70’s craze has never been so vivid. Luxury houses such as Hermès often struggle to unite artistic vision and clothes wearable for people to actually buy. But Hermès mastered the balance between the two using a set of basics simply executed in a typical elegant fashion. We just can not say that it was plain. However, it was simple, it maintained its charm, and still sophisticated. “Clothes speak to me and I try to give this confidence to men and a new elegance,” said Nichanian.

Bally

Men’s Spring Summer 2016 Collection Bally Men’s Spring Summer 2016 Collection themed “No Limits” is the mantra for this assortment, which imparts messages of no geographical boundaries, no attire essentials, and no compliance. This clashes of ways of life between the old & the new world, emerges Bally’s SS 2016 disposition. The neo-preppy guy in his navy blazer with gold buttons easily socializes with a stylish geek in his corduroy costume evocative of improbable Mr. Fox. John Cassavetes or Adrian Brody typifies this transatlantic alignment of graceful insouciance. Vintage patches sewn on both clothes & luggage come from epoch Bally archive packaging, as a lighthearted wink to the history, as well as to the super-adaptable wardrobe’s fantasy possibilities. A West Coast Californian beatnik moves with ease from the Switzerland’s lakes in python-skin hiking boots & a Swiss army enthused backpack to the Los Angeles’ or San Francisco’s overlooking hills, like a groovy boy scout directly out of Wes Anderson’s Moonrise Kingdom. A Bally gentleman appears from his palazzo’s smoking room overlooking Lake Como, with his cashmere robe over his fly-fishing print pajamas to go out during the day with his Ascona Lego coloured sneakers. Similar regulation-free attitudes pervades a midnight-blue silk velvet tuxedo worn over Björn Borg-esque white sneakers & Californian sunset-tinted shimmering mirrored sunglasses.

HERMAN MILLER Ergonomy In Style

Herman Miller’s Aeron chair is the best-selling work chair in the entire Herman Miller’s product line, according to its authorized dealer in Indonesia, PT Forum Indonesia. The company is also an authorized dealer for different brands with a wide range of product lines to support its customer’s demand. The chair is a task chair equipped with active and passive ergonomic features. In Indonesia, the chair has to be ordered every 3 months to keep up with customer’s demand. Users of the chair are mostly people working behind the desk all the time. According to Rina, one of the sales executive of PT Forum Indonesia, the vast majority do not even realize that we sit more than we sleep. “You can count how many hours we spend on sitting and you’ll be amazed by the fact that you sit most of the time,” she explained. “Our customers were ordinary people who didn’t know that the chair plays a big role in your health, but now they do know it is crucial.” The designers, Bill Stumpf and Don Chadwick successfully created the Aeron Chair that it is now the most well-known ergonomic office chair ever made. It is also with good reason. The innovative Pellicle seat and back

98

distributes the weight evenly, eliminating pressure points. Heat build up is also prevented with the breathable, woven suspension membrane, replacing the traditional fabric and foam. The Kinemat tilt lets you recline fluidly. Its PostureFit is installed, which puts support where one needs it the most while seated, which is at the base of one’s spine. The Aeron Chair can be ordered online and every customer can configure and have the chair customized by choosing from various options available. The base and frame finish can be made of Graphite; or can be a combination of titanium base with smoke frame; or polished aluminium base with graphite frame with an extra charge. The Pellicle Fabric Seat and Back can be replaced by different weaving pattern: carbon classic weave, lead classic weave, blue black tuxedo weave, grey black tuxedo weave, platinum waves weave, and carbon waves weave. From tilt, to arms rest, armpads and back support as well as the chair size- every customer can have the chair customized according to their needs and preference.

Fazioli Fazioli has been building grand and concert pianos in its factory in Sacile (60 km from Venice, Italy) since 1981, when the company founded by the engineer and pianist Paolo Fazioli. The Fazioli soundboard is made by entirely of red spruce from the Val di Fiemme, a valley in the eastern Italian Alps. Evenness, lightness and flexible strength are typical feature of this wood. Antonio Stradivarius used the wood from this forest for his legendary violins. Art and science, passion for music and scientific knowledge, excellent craftsmanship, firm commitment to technological research and highly selected materials: these are the main elements required to produce a Fazioli piano.

The GRAND The GRAND

Besides the classic piano in gloss or matt black polyester, Fazioli is able to offer a variety of other finishes, custom made or chosen from samples. Custom modifications can be undertaken to three different areas: the shape, the surfaces, and the decoration. Fazioli’s Malachite inlays of natural and coloured wood, motherof-pearl and semi precious stones can give birth to complex designs, mouldings and arabesques. To embellish this F212, the chosen stone is Malachite, while wood is walnut. Marco Polo, an unusual red varnish and the precious reproduction of a Canaletto painting, represent the combination chosen for this

F308. It celebrates the ancient connection between Venice and China. Gold leaf, the name tells everything about this F228 piano model that covers with a 24-carat gold. It gives a touch of royal prestige. The transparent polyester that protects the gold leaf returns to the surface a precious luminosity of iridescent shades. M. Liminal is ultimately the music of shape and the design of sound. The piano combined shapes and colours in its asymmetric design. The M Liminal design is dually inspired by music and the sea: the shapes of the side recalls the profile of a wave while the silver evokes the blinding mirror created by water illuminated by the sun.

Blüthner Blüthner’s fortepiano factory establish on 18 November 1853 in Leipzig, Germany. For over 150 years Blüthner instruments have proven their refinement and dependability. Under the hands of a pianist, the instrument is as important as the brush of a painter, the chisel of a sculpture or the voice of the singer. Wilhem Furtwangler once said that, “Blüthner instruments can really sing. This is probably the greatest complement that can be paid to an instrument.” It is true that orchestras and pianists are impressed by the sound, the shading of the dynamics and the outstanding performance of the instruments. Chamber musician praise the tonal character as being full of charm with a sound comparable to a violin cello. Singers love the golden tone for accompanying the human voice. Musicians and composers affectionately call the Blüthner instrument as ‘the poet among the pianos’. Some of the most popular songs have been composed or recorded on a Blüthner, included ‘Let It Be’ by The Beatles. Blüthner make upright and concert pianos. Each instrument is individually handcrafted in Germany, combining the finest quality materials with outstanding craftsmanship and the latest technology. Over 150,000 pianos have been produced of which many have been

118

played by well-known personalities. With more than a hundred years experiences, Blüthner now give customers the unique opportunity to create their own masterpiece. Then instruments can be highly tailored to their taste with various hand-carved pianos legs, music desk and lyre combinations. DR. ALESSANDRO LIBERATORI For a Bright Future

This year is such a wonderful year for Dr. Alessandro Liberatori, Italian Trade Commissioner, as the Italian Trade Agency (ICE) celebrating its anniversary of 90 years establishment. The government agency was founded in 1926. ICE sustains Italian firms in the internationalization processes and promotes the marketing of Italian goods and services, Italian investments, as well as the image of all “Made in Italy” around the world, besides being directly involved in attracting Foreign Direct Investments. ICE headquarter is in Rome. They build their extensive network through 65 offices around the world acting as “Trade Promotion Office” of the Italian Embassies or Consulates. In Indonesia, ICE or Italian Trade Agency acts also as the Trade Promotion Office of the Italian Embassy. Bilateral trade relation has long been established between Italy – Indonesia. This can be observed with the trade balance fluctuating positive for Indonesia, which records export to Italy, valued US$ 2.29 billion in 2014 and US$ 1.87 billion in 2015, while Indonesian import from Italy amounted to US$ 1.72 billion in 2014 and US$ 1.37 billion in 2015. “Last November our President of the Republic of Italy, Sergio Mattarella, paid a visit, a first ever visit to Indonesia and was accompanied by our Minister of Economic Development. During this visit, a lot of projects were discussed, many memorandums of understanding between Indonesian & Italian companies were signed, “ said Liberatori who is proud that his country is one of the top three European countries exporting to Indonesia. He added that the most important projects for Indonesia are in the infrastructure and energy sectors : the thirty (30) Leading Government Infrastructure Projects 2016-2019 including 35.000 megawatt power plant projects within 10 years. “We are also talking about medical devices, pharmaceuticals, and the manufacturing industry, because the bulk of our export to Indonesia is machinery, despite the fact that Italy is well known & well recognized in the world for its consumer goods, jewelry, fashion, food, lifestyle, design, and furniture. But what is the reason, why Italy has reached this excellence in consumer goods? Cause there is high quality of manufacturing industry. That’s the secret! This accounts for more than 80% of our export to Indonesia, so this is the biggest part,” said Liberatori excitedly as he saw bright future on relationship between the two countries. “This country (Indonesia) is a huge country with a large population. In the last few years it has known impressive growth compared to the rest of the world, is one of the still maintaining growth during this economic crisis and

120

recession. Indonesia has been able to still keep the pace and still expand,” told Liberatori. He believed that compared to other countries, even the European as a market, Indonesia still is the biggest potential market. But there are several considerations in choosing the right country for investment. Liberatori explained that stability and certainty is very important. This also includes the rules. “Companies that are willing to invest, they have to know what’s going to happen in five years as regards their investment. In the international business, it’s a matter of comparison. What were called the BRIC countries, most of them have been affected by the economic crisis. So Indonesia is representing the future, the alternative with huge market and even bigger that ASEAN Economic Community has been established since the first of January,” he added. He saw that the market now is not only Indonesia itself, but all surrounding countries. “All barriers (and) duties will be abolished, so once a company is established as a dealer or distributor in Indonesia, can access to all outer markets in the (ASEAN) region. It’s like the European Union, same situation of no more borders or duties but free access. Indonesia can become the hub of ASEAN. CHRISTIE’S

Jewels of Princess Gabriela

Honoured to present ‘Superb Jewels from the Collection of H.S.H. Gabriela Princess zu Leiningen’ in Geneva, Switzerland, Christie’s features 46 lots of the princes’ unique and important collection, estimated to value at US$15 million. Among the jewels are prestigious signatures as Cartier, Schlumberger, Boucheron, Tiffany & Co, and Van Cleef & Arpels. Each and every piece allows a glimpse into the Princess’s world, as pointed out by François Curiel, Chairman Christie’s Asia Pacific, “Sophisticated and classically beautiful, H.S.H. Gabriela Princess zu Leiningen’s extensive collection is a true reflection of its owner. A woman of charisma, wisdom, elegance and above all, joy. Each jewel represents a special moment in her life and the happiness she experienced at the time.” H.S.H. Gabriela Princess Zu Leiningen was born to an entrepreneurial and philanthropic German family. Princess Gabriela was trained a lawyer and has been involved in educational, health and cultural development programs throughout her life. In 2004, the Princess founded an aid organization committed to supporting projects

140

in both Germany and in developing countries, striving to protect and ameliorate the rights of women and children in need, such as through microcredit projects. Christie’s will be featuring some of the finest gemstones of the Princess that collectors could ever dream of. The highlight of the exhibition is the 36 carat D colour Pohl diamond. The rock was mined in 1934 as a 287 carat rough stone, and was the first major diamond to be polished in America and sold in 1943 to Bernice Chrysler Garbisch of the Chrysler Family. In 1998, Princess Gabriela acquired the precious stone at Cartier. Another precious stone is the one Princess Gabriela was photographed with on many occasions, one of them being at the official dinner preceding the wedding of Prince Felipe of Spain and Letizia Ortiz in Madrid, in 2004. The magnificent jewels are a sensational emerald and diamond necklace suspending a richly coloured Colombian emerald of almost 40 carats, by Cartier. The neckless has matching earrings are estimated to worth US$2.5 - 3.5 million.

Another by Cartier is the rare Burmese sapphires which is suspended on a V-shaped necklace and is complemented by a pair of ear pendants with diamond-set star tops and pear-shaped saphhire pendants. Each of the gemstone weighs approximately 25 carats. Once owned by H.H.

Begum Om Habibeh Aga Khan, the wife of H.H. Sultan Mohammed Shah, Aga Khan III, a very elegant cultured pearl and diamond fringe necklace entered the collection of Princess Gabriela with a matching pair of ear pendants and a bangle, commissioned to Van Cleef & Arpels.

GALERi HADIPRANA When Art Meets Fashion

Andi Miswandi - Majesty of Bromo

Made Duatmika - Family Happiness

What does art and fashion have in common? Hadiprana. With a brilliant idea Galeri Hadiprana combined the two world of appreciation for beauty and excellence in a painting exhibition, interior decoration and fashion show on February the 28th, 2016. The collaboration itself was organized in the framework of the whole month of painting exhibition, themed “Prosperity by Nature”. Hadiprana stresses out that expression in art is their way of gratitude to God. It is their awareness of how rich the land of Indonesia is, that inspired this event altogether. Learning from history, Hadiprana points out how Indonesia was perceived of by other nations as “Islands of Spices” which causes them to voyage thousands of

142

kilometres from their home continent. The greatest archipelago in the world earned the idiom “even a wooden stick can become a tree”, to express how extreme the fertility of the land is. Having a deep understanding of the richness and beauty of Indonesia’s natural resources is, compelled Hadiprana to turn to the Creator and express their gratitude for the land. Even artists describes this country as the “Garden of Eden” as they explore the natural landscape with spiritual awareness of a God who created this. “Prosperity of Nature” is a theme which concisely describes the spirit of the artists and the gallery, behind this exhibition. Participants of the painting exhibition were talented Indonesian artists,

including: Andi Miswandi, Gusti Agung Monalisa, Ketut Susena, Made Duatmika, Made Gunawan, Nyoman Sujana Kenyem, Oedin Kuru, Rudi Mardiyanto, Wayan Bawa Antara, Yuli Kodo and others. The source of inspiration for these painters seems endless. From the view of volcanic mountains, such as the Majesty of Bromo, to the simple expressionism of Heading to the Peak of the Mountain, painters describe God’s creation in Indonesia in colour and canvas, resembling heaven. It is as if they want to escape the harsch modern setting of high rise buildings, concrete jungles and cars. One of the most striking paintings is the piece of Wayan Bawa Antara with his Banyan Trees. The densed Banyan Trees form a fascinating

Nyoman Sujana Kenyem - Menuju Puncak

alley, going up to the light at the end of it. Two Balinese women, typically dressed in traditional Balinese attire, carrying their food and groceries on their head, are painted walking through the alley, between the Banyan Trees, heading towards the light. Could there be a hidden meaning underneath this depiction? Perhaps, it is a metaphor of a wild and dark life, pictured by the shadows created in the ally by the trees, where the pathway leads us through it. Perhaps, it is a message to stand and walk strong, such as it is pictured by the strong women, and continue our journey through the shadows, towards the light. What lies beneath the colours and the canvas remains a mystery. Only the painter knows.
