Les Blés De Chanel

Wheat has always held a special place in Gabrielle Chanel’s heart. Coincidentally her date of birth on August 19th is during the harvest festival at the end of the summer, which is a symbol of renewed prosperity and abundance since the harvests were plentiful and the granaries were full. Her father’s nickname for her – “my good wheat” – echoes all her life, turning “good wheat” into one of her lucky charms. Real, in wood, bronze or in a painting by her friend Dali, wheat was present in all forms in her places of residence at rue Cambon, at the Ritz and in her home in La Pausa. The High Jewellery collection welcomes Les Blés De Chanel, which highly represents the element for the first time in Chanel’s jewellery line – this eternal symbol of regeneration, abundance, luck, prosperity and endless creativity. The collection follows wheat’s life cycle and the 62 exquisite pieces portray a wheat field moving in the breeze.

“Premiers Brins”, “Brins de Printemps” and “Brins de Diamants” pay homage to the tender young wheat shoots of early spring. The fine elements of diamonds, peridots, crystalline and aquamarines play with transparency and color like young stalks of wheat. Brins de Diamants ring in 18k white gold set with a 1.5-carat pear cut diamond, 4 fancy-cut diamonds for a total weight of 1.6 carat and 26 brilliant-cut diamonds accessorized one’s hand, lingering elegantly around the finger. The harvest is evoked through the variations of “Moisson Ensoleillée”, “Bouquet de Moisson” and “Moisson de Perles” where diamonds, yellow sapphires and pearls bask in the golden warmth of a summer’s sun. Mossion de Perles necklace in 18k white gold set with 13 pear-cut diamonds for a total weight of 1.9-carat, 474 brilliant-cut diamonds for a total weight of 4.2 carats, enhanced by the use of Asian originated pearls of an Indonesian cultured one and 297 of Japanese cultured ones.

“Moisson d’Or” offers a sheath of wheat tied by a yellow sapphire of 16.8 carats. This spray of diamonds and sapphires is the central motif of a long necklace made of 977 yellow sapphires for a total weight of 477.5 carats. The same inspiration can be found on a brooch, earrings and a ring whose center stone is a yellow cushion sapphire of 17.1 carats.”Fête des Moissons” celebrates crowns of braided wheat. At the middle of a necklace, a yellow rectangular diamond of 25 carats with cut corners illuminates a bunch of wheat set with 121 multi-colored fancy-cut diamonds with a total weight of 46.7 carats, 932 yellow diamonds weighing 40.4 carats and 165 white diamonds: 10 marquise-cut for a total weight of 3.1 carats, fancy cut for a total weight of 1.4 and 151 brilliant-cut diamonds for a total weight of 3.3 carats. A ring, a bracelet and a pair of earrings complete this set. “Champ de Blé”, “Impression de Blé” and “BléInfini” offer many variations on the theme of wheat and reinvent the motif as a precious and sparkling pattern design. Champ de Blé cuff comes in two different gold colors of one’s choice, 18k of either yellow or white gold set with 869 brilliant-cut diamonds for a total weight of 29.6 carats. This set has earrings, bracelet and ring to add. “Champ de Blé” evokes the wheat of early summer in a more abstract series of pieces.

Mounted on yellow or white gold, diamonds are entangled in a network of foliage. Impression de Blé earrings in 18k white and yellow gold set with 2 pear-cut fancy intense yellow diamonds to bring out a wheat’s color palette, totaling a weight of 5 carats, combined with 14 fancy-cut multicolored diamonds for a total weight of 3.4 carats and 398 brilliant-cut diamonds for a total weight of 4.5 carats. The “Cascade d’Epi” necklace and earrings are soft and golden, curling gracefully around the neck or the ears of the woman who wears them. These are the wheat in June that appears as the ear-of-wheat blooms. Selections of this set are overwhelmingly graceful, from L’Épi brooch in platinum, 18k yellow gold set with baguette-cut, marquise cut and brilliant-cut diamonds, colored stones and colored paving to represent visually a colorful wheat; to Épi d’Été choices of rings consisting the same elements with an addition of pear-cut emerald, Épi Vendõme ring and Épi d’Été necklace with an addition of emerald, yellow sapphires, aquamarines, Paraiba tourmalines, yellow and cognac diamonds, rose cut brown diamonds and other valuable gems to be weighed in. Finally, the “Légende de Blé” necklace displays a majestic ear-of-wheat in white gold and diamonds that seems to wrap around the neck, leaving the summer’s most precious offerings. This set comes in complete with brooch, bracelets of many styles, earrings and an array of necklace selection, all with 18k white gold, marquise-cut diamond and a number of brilliant-cut diamonds; each displays an elegant, high fashion jewellery. With this collection wheat offers a lavish entry into CHANEL High Jewellery and pays tribute to one of Gabrielle Chanel’s most personal symbols from her childhood onwards.

Young Visionaries

Envisioning a Better Indonesia

This month marks 71 years since our founding fathers, Soekarno and Hatta, proclaimed Indonesia’s independence on August 17, 1945. Today, Indonesia, being South East Asia’s largest economy and the world’s largest archipelago, has produced many young leaders from different backgrounds whose expertise and skills have contributed to the development of the nation. In commemoration of our country’s 71st anniversary, Registry Indonesia is proud to feature five young business leaders whom despite their entrepreneurial success, they display their concern for the future of Indonesia. Sharing the same vision, all the five of young generation decided to join Golkar party and Golkar Youth Generation (AMPG). Being the oldest political party with outstanding track in the country’s political history is the reason why they have chosen Golkar over others. Under the leadership of Setya Novanto as the party’s chairman, Golkar continues the struggle of the country’s founding fathers, which is to build the nation for the interest of its people. Mr. Novanto is aware of the potentials of today’s young generation, as a dynamic, creative and proactive generation that can contribute to the acceleration of Indonesia’s economic growth. While Mr. Novanto pins his hope on young cadres within Golkar, Registry Indonesia unveils the vision of the five young business leaders for the future of Indonesia and what made them decide to join Golkar as their political aspiration.

Arya Kuntadi He’s only 30 years of age, however Arya Kuntadi has worked his way up as an entrepreneur and a young politician, running a holding company, while participating actively in Golkar Party. He earned his bachelor’s degrees in Finance and Technology Innovation Management from the University of Washington, Seattle, US in 2009. After his graduation, he had a year stint as an accountant at Freeport McMoran. That was a valuable experience that led Arya to embark on the world of entrepreneurship. Arya later decided to pursue higher academic degree by enrolling at the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS) in Tokyo, where in 2013 successfully earned his master’s degree in Public Policy Analysis with Magna Cum Laude predicate. “Following my return from Japan, I continued running the family business with my brother. Working hand-in-hand, we have successfully expanded our company from energy sector to information technology,” he said. Arya has also involved in a number of different organizations such as the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs (HIPMI), Indonesia Chamber of Commerce (KADIN), the Indonesian Muslim Intellectuals Association (ICMI), and SAPMA Pemuda Pancasila, which is a youth movement for Pancasila ideology organization. He has also taken a further significant step by joining Golkar. “Being an entrepreneur and involved actively in organization activities, I have learnt that many aspects need to be improved in both economy and politics. Our country needs to have a good system to accelerate economic growth, which in turn will help boosting the people’s prosperity. This is the call that urged me to join Golkar indeed. Golkar is an old party with an established infrastructure and system. For me, the party functions as a great school to learn and contribute more to the society,” he asserted. Arya is now a department member of Golkar’s Election Victory Body (Badan Pemenangan Pemilu) of South Sumatra, Bangka Belitung, Bengkulu and Lampung. As a member of Badan Pemenangan Pemilu, he is tasked to ensure that the party gains votes for these respective areas: legislative, presidential and regional elections. “We are generating formula and strategy in order to gain victory in the elections.” Arya gives a credit to his good friend, Rheza Herwindo, who has aspired him to join Golkar. Arya is now also the vice chairman of Golkar Youth Generation (AMPG) under the leadership of Fahd A. Rafiq. “I’m still new in Golkar and there are many things I need to learn from my seniors. All in all, my primary goal to be part of the party is to contribute thoroughly with all the expertise that I have for the development of the nation and uphold the importance of the young generation.

Amrit Punjabi There is no limit in learning new things and achieving more and more, said Amrit Punjabi who carries on his father’s legacy in the family business. His father, Raam Punjabi has marked a history in Indonesian film industry, producing countless number of TV series and silver screen movies. “During the whole process of expanding the family business, I have learnt that you have to keep on listening and absorbing knowledge from people around you. I have worked in India for a short period of time learning the film distribution business, then spent a year in Vietnam taking care of film distribution and learning about cinema business in our Platinum Cineplex, before coming back to Indonesia and taking part in the production team,” Amrit explained. In that process, he has gained confidence while working hand-in-hand with respected directors in the industry. He has involved in the making of a number of movies such as Soekarno, Hijrah Cinta and 3 Srikandi. “These are few of the things I have achieved so far. My achievement is very little compared to the experience and knowledge my father has gained throughout his journey in the business. I’m only taking it one step at a time and hopefully be able to continue his legacy,” Amrit said. Amrit holds a bachelor’s degree in Media Production from the American InterContinental University in Los Angeles, US. Just turned 29 this month, Amrit is one of the young generations who envision a better future for Indonesia. “Our country is home to young entrepreneurs who are able to make a difference and drive the economy, to make Indonesia a leading power not only in South East Asia but also in the world,” he asserts. Amrit recently joined Golkar in the Division of Culture. He has also become a member of Golkar Youth Generation (AMPG). “We have recently organised National Leaders Meeting (RAPIMNAS) and outlined the party’s vision and strategy for the 2019 election”, he said of his involvement in Golkar. “To me, politics has always been fascinating, but I never thought that I myself would get into politics. This all happened because of my friendship with Rheza Herwindo. We have been friends for a long time, and during those times, we used to always talk about how both of us are going to bring changes to this country in our own ways, through the business that we do. We believed that, we the young ones will have our own unique ideas that we can implement in our business that can positively impact the society. So, when Rheza asked me to join, I did not have second doubts, and now we are together again, not just dreaming of making changes, but now are hand in hand working for a better Indonesia.”

Irvan Kolonas Innovation and sustainability are indeed significant in the life of Irvan Kolonas. The 27-year-old entrepreneur is the founder and CEO of PT Vasham Kosa Sejahtera, a social enterprise that provides innovative solutions for smallholder farmers in Indonesia. The company caters the needs of the farmers in terms of providing credit, training and market access. “For the most part, creating positive impact only through CSR is never self-sustaining. Then came a book Banker to the Poor by Nobel Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus, who believes there is a better way for a business to create positive impact to the society while still generating profit.” said Irvan, who holds Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Economics from the University of Southern California, US. Irvan has since been driven with this noble idea that he can create a new and better way of doing business. From the long list of big problems facing Indonesia, he picked the poor corn farmers. “Indonesia wants to achieve food sovereignty in corn as one of the most important staple crops, but it has continued to fall for more than a decade. I then decided to I live and work with the corn farmers to understand them better. By doing this I could then design a solution that fits their needs and from there, I started Vasham as my social enterprise. The word Vasham itself literally means ‘to give one the power to change their own destiny. Our program called Konco provides an end-to-end solution for corn farmers. We provide them with farm inputs on loan, cash loans for operational expenses, farm advisory and extension services, and finally we pick up and buy their corn higher than market prices.” A great achievement for such a young businessman and this has also led to Irvan being named “Entrepreneur of the Year 2015 by Ernst & Young” and awarded “DWB Social Award of 2015”. Irvan has joined Golkar in the Division of Agriculture and Fishery, with the vision of creating meaningful impact with his work. He expresses his thankfulness to his good friend, Rheza Herwindo who led him to join the party as his aspiration to give contribution to the country. “I bring a new set of beliefs and thinking about how we can improve the lives of many farmers here in Indonesia; to throw away the old ways that have been proven to be ineffective. I hope that through more young and innovative thinking we can bring a new way of Golkar contribution to the society and create impact more than ever before.”

Christian Putra Raweyai After his return from academic pursuit in Australia in 2009, Christian Putra Raweyai launched a start-up with the objective of shaping himself into the business world. “The first business enterprise was related to commodity industry, specifically in oil trading. It was a very challenging time indeed, however I managed to manoeuvre in the right direction, with great support and advice from family and friends,” he recalled the moments he embarked on professional life. A few years down the road, Christian ventured into a new business of different industry, testing the water in another pond. “I’m engaged in the production of sand and concrete for the local markets. It’s an opportunity that comes with a set of challenges. Yet, it takes me continuously learning new insights while trying out new things, which opens my mind towards another perspective in the business world.” Recalling his academic background, Christian earned degrees from three different higher education institutions: diploma in Business and Commerce from Insearch College in Sydney (2006), bachelor’s degree in International Business and Marketing from the University of Technology Sydney (2009) and master’s degree in Political Studies from the University of Indonesia (2012). Politics was an unchartered territory to Christian. “But everything changed when my good friend Rheza Herwindo initiated his plan to jump into the political arena and invited to join. I sensed new opportunity where I could make the most of my knowledge and skills to contribute to the development of Indonesia as a great nation.” Christian is now a member of Golkar in the Division of Campaign Strategy, and he is actively involved as a member of Golkar Youth Generation (AMPG). “In this arena, my long-term goal is to make changes that matter for Golkar as a respected and established political party.” In his assertion, the 29-year-old remarked, “As the world changes, so does Golkar. To accelerate its change towards contributing its best to the archipelago, Golkar needs new blood, new courage, and new vision from new generation of leaders.” Nevertheless, as he continued, “the youngsters still need to learn from their older counterparts on the respect of how to maintain stability and cohesiveness to survive in the government. Meanwhile, the older leaders need to allow the young to incorporate creativity and flexibility to grow in this ever-changing world.”

Ryan Tjahjana Graduated of the University of Washington, Ryan Tjahjana first embarked on his professional career working in the Corporate Finance at PriceWaterhouse Coopers Indonesia during 2008-2010. His two-year stint at the prestigious multinational professional services network led him to build businesses in mining, agriculture and retail, in which he collaborates with some partners, friends and family. Building a happy family and successful career is what he currently pursuing in life as what he would like to see of himself in five to 10 years. Turning 30 soon on August 23rd, the young entrepreneur has many years to come in achieving even more. Speaking of young age, Ryan is aware an increasing number of young leaders are being recognised for their creative leadership and contribution for a more sustained world. “But I believe age is just a number and the right balance should be applied here. A person can be young but born with experience beyond his or her years of life. An older leader who does not seek change is just as ineffective as a younger leader who doesn’t want to learn from the experiences and lessons of the past. In essence, we need to strike an optimal balance between the two.” Representing the voice of young generation, he sees many youngsters with talents in Indonesia that should show the world what they really capable of. “Indonesia has the largest economy in South East Asia and without doubt the country has the largest potential for economic growth in the region, compared to our neighbouring countries. With the advancement of today’s digital technology, Indonesian young leaders have access to more information and we are set to compete with our Southeast Asian peers, especially with the establishment of ASEAN Economic Community,” Ryan asserts. Asked about his involvement in Golkar, Ryan gives the credit to his good friend Rheza Herwindo who showed him the interesting world of Indonesian politics. But to him, the more important factor of joining Golkar is “how we as young generation can make a difference in this country.” “I believe it is the responsibility of the current younger generation to help further evolve and share the mind-set of our country. One example would be our country’s abundant natural resources. In the past, our mining industry focused on a short-term vision and allowed raw ore minerals to be exported. Today, our country has started to ban this practice and requires companies to process minerals before exporting, thus creating added value within the market. We therefore need to continue creating more added values in all industries across the archipelago.”

CARTIER Cactus de Cartier

Refined yet bold, Cartier has once again successfully designed pieces no one could ever get enough of. Inspired by the one Mother Nature, Cactus de Cartier collection beautifully represents the secrecy and unusual beauty of cacti. Sharp, tapering surface protects the within, providing its ability to survive deadly desert days. Its beauty comes from the mystery of a thing so dreadful yet so beautiful to gaze, not to mention all the mesmerizing flowers it blooms once in a blue moon. Such a rare moment nonetheless every second they bloom makes it worth the wait. The wait is over now that Cartier resembles the beauty in fine pieces of jewellery to be accoutered with. Enriching it even more, Cactus de Cartier came in three kinds of approaches to fit any occasions together with personalities. A Flower without Spikes favors the coloration, revealing the allurement of each gem. Irresistible18-carat yellow gold topped with red carnelians over and above the coruscating shades of greens from chrysoprases and emeralds; constructed in pieces to complement outfits of many get-togethers. Each fine piece came in different kinds of adornment, whether it is a ring, earrings, bracelet or necklace.

Second in the list, straight geometrical Desert Beauty enhances the beauty in a simple yet glamorous manner applying only a couple colors topped with diamonds. Cactus de Cartier ring consists of 18-carat yellow gold as well as dazzling 55 brilliant-cut diamonds surrounded by elegant blue lapis lazuli. Stunning bracelet of this series consists of nearly the same elements except for the 146 brilliant-cut diamonds on top of both end sides. The one ravishing necklace kept dangled by a thin set of 18-carat yellow gold chains with a pendant of the same component, decorated with lapis lazuli and 61 brilliant-cut diamonds to be gracefully swayed along and over the neckline. Last and probably the most classic Cartier resemblance of this collection, Rebellious Flower plays in the twist of geometrical bloom of cactus flower. Color scheme of 18-carat yellow gold and diamonds intensify the elegance of and bring out the irregular overturning geometry even more. Buccellati Paris Haute Couture with Giambattista Valli

Buccellati is the high fashion reference brand in high jewellery since its establishment in 1919. During the Paris Haute Couture, Buccellati jewels stood out for their opulence and appeal, perfectly matching the elegant cocktail and evening dresses by Giambattista Valli, recalling the generous volumes of Renaissance gowns. They successfully enhanced Giambattista’s masterpieces with their precious stones and diamonds, in a blaze of silk, impalpable voile and embroideries. Buccellati cuff bracelets, necklaces and earrings are gorgeous and elegant, originating the same emotions and admirations as Giambattista Valli’s outfits. On this page, the bib-necklace in white and yellow gold, set with diamonds: it is one of the finest creations that perfectly matches with an evening look, accompanied by either a flexible or cuff bracelet and a pair of earrings with the same design and color. Always on this page, two pairs of earrings which are true works of art. Left, the Queen’s earrings in white and yellow gold with rubies and diamonds, daring an imposing and impressive design and style. The diamonds surround the central round and drop-shaped rubies, thus enhancing the combination of colors and stones. The pair of earrings on the right is in white and yellow gold, showing the

traditional inspiration of the brand. Their uniqueness is in their precious handcrafting techniques and in the central kunzite, with a bright light purple color which is a real head-turner. The beauty of the central kunzites is furtherly enhances by the diamonds contouring them and the border in contrasting gold colors. On this page, an amazing necklace with pendant/brooch, entirely based on the contrasting elements in yellow and white gold set with yellow and white diamonds. The pendant/brooch has an immense central green peridot. Texture and tones are defined by the color of the diamonds, yellow and white ones, alternating on both the necklace and the pendant. The pairs of pendant earrings on this page are true to the most traditional Buccellati style and design, and express the harmonious blend of white and yellow gold, rendered even more elegant by the use of diamonds and precious stones.

Van Cleef & Arpels The Art and Science of Gems

Zip necklace transformable into a bracelet, 1954

Art Science Museum exhibited selections of Van Cleefs & Arpels Collection, which reflected the poetry, skill and unique expertise of the Maison over the decades to explore the extraordinary craftsmanship that transfigures rare minerals into works of art on the farther side of what they already are. Spanish Dancer clip, 1941, is one of the Ballerina clips collection. The fine piece captures a dance pose, which is an illustration of the beauty of line and movement. The platinum and gold sculpted dancer has a pear-shaped diamond face with ruby and emerald ornaments. The delicacy of adornments and flexibility of certain bracelets and necklaces are among the Maison’s most masterful technical achievements. Fabrics are transformed into jewellery; ribbons and lace are embellished by gold weave and precious stones. The Zip Necklace offers a sophisticated twist on the zip fastener. The Duchess of Windsor first suggested it to Renee Puissant – Maison’s Artistic Director – in the late 1930s. Produced in 1950 in platinum, gold, rubies and diamonds elements, the piece is able to open and close like a real zipper, therefore could be worn as a necklace or as a bracelet. It has now become a signature icon, which regularly reinterpreted in the brand’s collection.

Spanish ballerina clip, 1941 Egyptian inspiration bracelet, 1924

The special order bird clip and pendant, 1971-1972 – consists of gold, emeralds, sapphire, yellow, white diamonds and a 96.62-carat briolette-cut yellow diamond. Formerly owned by the famous Polish opera singer Ganna Walska, this dazzling yellow diamond first appeared at a Sotheby’s auction in 1971 and a year later it became the cover of a Van Cleef & Arpels’ catalogue. The new owner asked the Maison to combine the stone with a bird in celebration of her son in 1972 – making the remarkable yellow diamond a precious bundle of joy carried by the bird through the skies. The brand is known for its transformability and this piece is no different, as it could be transformed into earrings and a brooch, whilst the diamond can be worn alone as a pendant. The famous Peony flower clip, 1973, is one of the highlights since it represents two foundation of the Maison’sstylem floral theme and Mystery Set technique of 640 square Burmese rubies. It consists of platinum, gold, mystery set rubies – weigh a total of 100 carats – and a total of 30 carats diamonds. Egyptian inspiration bracelet, 1924, was inspired by the art of Ancient Egypt. This is one of the pieces made between 1922 and 1925 in light of the discovery of Tutankhamen’s tomb by Lord Carnarvon in 1922. This exceptional piece is made of platinum, sapphires, rubies, emeralds, onyx and diamonds. The rarity of Egyptian jewels is incredible thus highly sought after by collectors. Peony clip, 1937

Maisya Jewellery, the finest Indonesian handcrafted jewellery, launched the Limited Maisya Jewellery on February 2016. The limited jewellery collection features mostly the pieces withrare, big, and elegant stones- ruby, sapphire, tanzanite, emerald, and also the one and only - fancy color diamonds. There is a saying that ‘diamonds are forever’. Most people believe that diamonds are the symbol of eternal love.It is the stone that most likely to be called the most precious among all precious gemstones. Many lovers around the world express their wish of a lifelong relationship with diamonds. There are many reasons that make diamonds very special

42

among other gemstones. Diamonds have the four-carbon molecular structure that makes them the hardest gemstones. No diamonds are exactly alike because each diamond is the miraculous combination of time, places and chances. But there is a globally accepted standard created by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) for describing diamonds which are the famous 4C’s: color, clarity, cut and carat weight. By this universal method for assessing the quality of diamond, it can help consumers to decide which diamonds they were about to purchase. Natural fancy color diamonds are truly rare. Most of the diamonds sold worldwide are the colorless to slightly tinted colored diamonds.

It said that only one in every 10,000 diamonds possesses enough color saturation to be granted as the natural fancy color diamonds.Based on the GIA’s standard, the fancy color diamonds are graded in three ways: the stone’s basic hue (blue, green, pink, yellow, etc.), the diamond’s intensity, and both color characteristics form the basis of determining the fancy color diamonds’ value. The more intense the color, the rarer and more expensive the fancy color diamonds will be. These diamonds are also considered to be assets with highly investment potential and very suitable for gifting.

The fancy color diamonds collection is now available at Maisya Jewellery as part of their Limited Maisya Jewellery collection. Each of Maisya Jewellery’s collections is the elegant combination of the classic heritage design with modern design, made by the talentedIndonesian craftsmen. SAINT LAURENT Fall/Winter 2016 Collection

Saint Laurent proudly showed the Fall/Winter 2016 Collection at The Palladium, Los Angeles, on February 10th 2016. Creative Director Hedi Slimane introduces the heavily patterned collection in rock and roll style, strong, bold and chic. From fur coats to bike leather jackets, from metallic gold to black leather boots. Simplicity is no longer the key. Yves Saint Laurent has always been “the king of Paris”, creating breakthrough designs that are just irresistible, especially in old times where everything was explicitly strict. He made fundamentals rhyme with affordables, lines rhyme with color. His main intentions were not the “jaded billionaires”. He broke through puritan order and taboos. Playing with bright colors and integrating play, technique, colors and consumer objects and even more of androgynous silhouettes. His sketch boards were suggestive of popart cartoons, musical scores were to made models got up and dance. Yves Saint Laurent was all about celebrating life; party, carefree, senseless yet make perfect sense. As Hedi Slimane described, “because fashion serves as punctuation for a day and age, a way of documenting the times: it is all about observing what is going on.” When fashion kept precedent with the current stream, then time is stopped. No one can mess with time; fashion needs to be explored with no limits to make the most of the time, for the sake of history.

There is no hesitation shown in a look where fully patterned dress with big belts in the middle clashed with an oversized fur coat in different color palette; not to mention another fully patterned black leather boots under. Models are to represent cool girl look, from their messy loosened hairstyle to exaggerated eye shadow application and strong soulless expression. An “all black everything” look still looking extra audacious by the use of long leather coat and different materials for each piece. Furry trousers on top of high boots, accessorized with a huge black belt, bring out the fur in the coat’s collar, which accidentally harmonizes with model’s ginger hair. Who is to say black maroon combination of leather jacket cannot be paired with golden maxi skirt and red brownish boots, cause the result is amazingly off the wall. Another unconventional spectacle is a tiger print maxi dress in bright orange gold, paired with black leather boots and jackets, enriched by a thin gleaming silver scarf to fiercely complete the look.

FENDI

Haute Fourrure 2016 Legends and Fairy Tales FENDI celebrated its 90th anniversary with a high-profiled event, which took place at the Trevi Fountain, labeling the history by being the 1st fashion show to ever be held at the mentioned venue on July 7th. Resembling Roman mansion, the event itself creatively utilized a number of elements in order to enhance the atmosphere such as the fountain’s water, lighting and sound; all crafted to achieve the exactness of what the designer Karl Lagerfeld had in mind. Transparent catwalk platform above water intensified by sunset light simulate presence of floating fairies, conveying audiences to a place where the collection reveal its inaudible narrative. Clarity of Lagerfeld’s concept is highly visible throughoutthe show, in which a princess came in wandering around the forest in broad daylight till the sun set and color scheme gets dimmer as she goes deeper into the woods. Exquisite supermodels such as Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid took part walking the catwalk.Celebrating the event, a number of celebrity guests were invited such as Kate Hudson, Bella Throne, Gong Li, Amanda Harlech, Chiara Ferragni and Kasia Smutniak.

From sleeveless maxi-dresses to thick furry coats, the Legends and Fairy Tales collection successfully incorporate nature and forest theme into the design. As it has been evident, transparency in organza in this collection is highly valued by the designer. Furry coat decorated with animal prints put together over a maxi see-through skirt speckled with flowers in a harmonious tone, clashing two very different patterns however connected by one key theme: nature. Some are taken in literal design perspective, a loose maxi dress with forest and flowers print, combined with an exaggerated fur coat in floral motif. Such look showcasing Fendi’s signature unique craftsmanship in mixing colors and ornamentations on each element from design, styling and clutch combination. Another literal design approach of this collection puts fairies and the woods printed together in a dress, with organza top-half and sleeve, not leaving behind another floral embellishment. Combined with a bright colored clutch that fuses aesthetically with the whole look. Subtle application of the designer’s craftsmanship was plainly shown, for instance an insect’s wings illuminated by sunlight were referred in making a tiny clutch of feathers, organza dresses are enchanted with flowers and petals of mink.

Salvatore Ferragamo The 1920s and ‘30s Art Movements

Salvatore Ferragamo presents Womenswear Collection Autumn/ Winter 2016-2017 with playful juxtapositions and elegant contradictions to express an unabashed feeling of joy. Highlighting collisions of textures, overlapping volumes and the finest monotone fabrics are ignited by exuberant colors and motifs. Explorations of the new and modern approach created unexpected yet luxurious and upbeat result – both garments and accessories. The art movement of the 1920s and ‘30s signaled the starting point for creative director Massimiliano Giornetti, in which he found the inherent sense of freedom and opportunity reflecting the innovative spirit of founder Salvatore Ferragamo. Reconstructing the artistic spirit of the era, Giornetti’s collection is explored around the theme of assemblage – a detailed patchwork bursting with ideas and experimentation, executed with the confidence that comes with high Italian craftsmanship. Geometric shapes are the focus in the collection: zigzag utilized in myriad forms, whether vibrantly displayed on knitwear dresses and quilted satin tops or as a subtle finishing of a pure white double faced cashmere coat. This rejection of the so-called ‘perfect’ coordination brings out the modern vibe throughout the entire look: a black and white striped coat made

interesting by the ironic twist of mink pompoms as buttons; whimsical skateboards and spinning tops printed upon silk shirts; geometry’s rigor is smoothed out with the presence of scalloped hem dresses and capes. The use of geometrics and graphics lends personality to the collection; the purity of forms of primary geometrics intensifies the silhouette. Solid figures such as sphere, cone, circle and semi-sphere become a range of stud earrings, contrarie bracelets, rings and brooches. Shoes are designed in recurrent concept – contrasting colors and layering elements with lacy edges ensure a unique look for T-strap pump with suede upper and minkcovered heel. Leather craftsmanship meets the heritage of knitted fabrics. The icon patchwork theme is constantly repeated – bags design developed in an extraordinary array of expressions. Shoulder bags are given bracelet handles that doubles as a wonderful cocktail or soft mink muff, in a patchwork print. Resulting silhouette resembles aristocratic woman with a maverick streak, her femininity accentuated by shark tooth’s belt, her girly side is shown by the printed lining of capes and playful quilted skirt. A collection that is indeed stirs the senses and invigorates emotions. Beyond the surface reside all manner of intricacies and details – gracefullycelebrate the nuances, layers and endless possibilities of modern women. Boss

Womenswear Fall/Winter 2016 Boss brings forth its Women Fall Winter 2016 Collection with a curvature theme revealed with apparel that is cut to define the feminine silhouette, evident in a double-faced cashmere coat with a perfectly cut cascade front and curvilinear seam detailing. The main silhouette was a modernist hourglass applied on dresses, tops and coats with lightly fitted tops that hugged waists and released into soft folds. Boss Artistic Director Jason Wu shoves BOSS central architectural ideas into a novel level, with every line curved to follow the female form, softening and tracing the body with curvilinear seam work that came in a textural, colorful needle-punch technique where some of the pieces were crafted from multiple fabrics. The sculptural tailoring and wavy patterns of bonded leather and suede highlights architectural beauty and quality. Contrasting fabrics and textures are wonderfully fused where mesh, satin, felt and bouclĂŠ are fused in dresses, while leather & suede are attached to crepe for architectural freedom. Merging precision with fragility & imperfection, an inimitable floral motif discloses a softer mood for this Boss season.

Details of a fil coupé velvet flower is hand-cut and re-embroidered onto wool bouclé revealing BOSS DNA of craftsmanship and superlative attention to detail, while dresses are crafted from hand-frayed strips of chiffon and rows of miniature bugle beads, stitched to a fine mesh base. The soft, textured finish reminisces of a relaxed sweater dress and allows the skin beneath to be seen, in a sophisticatedly subtle hand-embroidery. The assortment’s palette shows hot pink, cinnamon, emerald, ochre and grass, which are united in a custom-woven chevron lace that curves along the asymmetric outlines. Further lines are made with needle punched strips of three contrasting fabrics, embroidered together for a deconstructed conclusion. The accessories offer further texture contrasts in hues fashioned to complement instead of perfect matches such as the new BOSS Bespoke hobo that is served in a layered patchwork of suede, calf hair and brushed calfskin, while the signature BOSS Bespoke bag is accompanied by an oversize, unlined day tote. Fine allusion to men’s formalwear are obvious in the leather and calf hair loafers that reveal a welted last, while a zip-front boot with wood heel is reminds of the lasting ideals of form and function of every BOSS Women.

Balenciaga Abstract Sophistication

Balenciaga launches its Women Fall Winter 2016 Ready-To-Wear Collection as a series of couture outlooks converting modern utilitarian attire into sophistication toyed with abstract sophistication. Balenciaga’s new artistic director debut line strategy was to bring about clothing engineered to change how women feel and consequently how they looked. Balenciaga is built on the relation between couturier, client and cloth and the rapport between body and attire, which is evident through the three-quarter sleeve, the stand-away collar, and the skirt running slightly ahead of one’s walk. The assortment that is built around 5 couture outlooks focuses on the way of carrying oneself in apparel rather the silhouette. This mannerism is manifested in cut and construction that inconspicuously affects the deportment and psychology of the wearer. A tensed connection between fit and unfit or the body firmly held or free-suspended in fabric. The dichotomies are continually in effect between haute couture poles of tailleur and flou. Jutting highlighted hip basque brought about through heritage couture techniques, are stressed in coats, coat-dresses and jackets in tweeds and wool, while traditional skirt-suits, the foundation of mid-century couture daywear, merge into coats affecting trompe-l’oeil.

Signature cocooning opera coats of Balenciaga are newlyembedded in practical, avant-garde sportswear, parkas, bombers and biker jackets, and cut to shrug off the shoulder or to stand away from the body in three dimensions. Down jackets and bombers are blended with evening stoles, hung or knotted at the neck in a false hauteur. Panels, trains and apron skirts of Balenciaga’s formal evening wear transform into double-layered coats and skirts with wrapped panels, allowing definition or freedom of one’s silhouette. Oversized knits waistbands are cut roughly away, like a work in progress with trails left behind. Utilitarian meeting couture accessories are revealed in men’s cuff-links, tie-pins, bicycle locks and clips that are fashioned into unconventional jewelry. Balenciaga archive brooches become earrings, beautiful tangles of chains form bracelets and necklaces, while shoes are of a variety of heels and styles, from platform through to kitten heel. Thigh boot are wrapped in couture fabrics, while handbags are founded on utilitarian tool-boxes and laundry bags, and redone in precious skins that include a diminutive pouch, inspired by atelier workers’ traditional silk pin-bag. Evening wear toys with haute couture archetypes revealed in elaborately-embroidered cocktail dresses with a C-curve line, while tent-dresses mismatched layers of print, pattern and color; bringing about an attitude of excess of beauty. Giorgio armani Disconnected Thoughts Giorgio Armani redefines the role of man in society based on his idea of luxury, breaking through the orthodox perception of men crucially looking simple. He believes destination is not the main key, what really counts in a journey is the path: all the meetings, visions, experiences and sensations that form the inner landscape, modeled by the outer horizon. Sharp silhouettes, elongated and thin, are the heart of this collection. Uses of materials, symbols, patterns, texture and elements are all high-lifted into the concept of life journey instead of a process of exhibitionism. This collection mixes and cross-pollinates symbols and elements, amalgamating them into a natural and fluid expression of style. They are made in such way that is aesthetically relaxed in shape that caresses the body. Ethnic textures and motifs decorate the surfaces of the mesh, made with fine yarns that absorb and fade the drawings, or are placed on the collars and cuffs, decorative signs echoing the authentic, ancient cultures of the Mediterranean basin and North

Africa. The garments made of intertwined sheepskin have the appearance of sweaters and the outerwear combines a number of manufacturing techniques and processes, resulting a highly textured surface – so intense they become the patterns themselves. The palette is concise and coherent, based on Armani’s natural nuanced hues, the symbol of calmness and maturity – dense and deep blues. Natural tones and ethereal shades run through important pieces like echoes, obtained by weaving and washing cashmere, alpaca and vicuña fibers in a particular way, using new processes that break the surface of a garment. Other hues might have been cooperated, namely light to dark brown and leather brown. Warm looking collection of coats and sweaters enhanced by the use of hats and big bags, creating a luxurious gentleman – who pays a lot of attention to his fashion journey – look. Trousers are baggy, hairs get middleparted; wardrobes are inspired by the unmistakable image of a hat-wearing William Burroughs, a man who developed new approaches to writing and thinking, based on the cut-up technique. Emporio Armani Up to Date

Giorgio Armani presented his newest set for his Emporio Armani Menswear Fall-Winter 2016/ 2017 collection as an accelerated wardrobe. The theme “Up to Date” brings in techno-tailoring for the digital generation. The collection interprets the digital age, information technology and the binary world in innovative materials, grey scale colour palette, and futuristic accessories and design. Dynamism, performance and creativity are the keywords of a collection that upgrades the man’s wardrobe, resetting garments, design solutions and constructions. The binary world is reflected in the black and white shades of colour. Metallic grey, silver grey, black, white, and a combination of all of the above in different patterns are dominating colours of the collection. Other colours on the catwalk are seen as a subtle accent throughout the whole show -- organic hues, such as forest green and deep blue -- adds to the masculinity of the line.

The major focus of the collection is on comfort. It is especially dedicated for the fast urban scenario. Laser cuts, bonded strips and seams describes not only an aesthetic but also a description of the new forms. Each model came out in with fast pace steps, mirroring the urban rush in the busy streets in downtown city. Denim is now the new passe-partout. Although not a dominating fabric, it is used to bond with leather or insulated with the most classic bouclĂŠ and Prince of Wales check fabrics. Innovative ways of tailoring on sportswear have been applied: jackets conceal interiors with tape and reflective trim. Jackets, shirts and sweaters appear with futuristic leather appliquĂŠ, in an updated version of military braiding. Emperio Armani presents jackets long and short, tube trousers wide and closed at the bottom or even featuring deep gathers. Futuristic accessories remind one on science fiction movies such as Star Wars or Startrek. EA7 skiwear sparkles with silver and grey, graphics and texture -- all elements to bring the stratospheric space out to life. It is designed specifically with the sci-fi world in mind. Every accessory are dynamic and pragmatic in character. There are shoes with rounded toes, injected soles; footwear that are strong and ultralihgt; maxi bags in hightech shapes; calfskin trim printed with wood grain and even jeans that come with bonded seams. J’adore Touche de Parfum

Charlize Theron reveals the secrets of J’adore Touche de Parfum, a new intense composition that gives flowers pride of place. An original texture deposited in touches, where a single drop is all that is needed to create a personal touch of olfactory signature. The potency of each one’s scent of light or heady, simple or complex. A creation of François Demachy, it is a new creative approach of two acts: deposit “Touche de Parfum” as one wish, a delicate dab or a bolder touch; then pair it with the J’adore fragrance of one’s choice. The most powerful trails like J’adore L’Or and J’adore L’absolu gain in expressiveness and intriguing seduction. The perfuming possibilities are endless and each time, a new J’adore is born. One, two, three silky drops deposited in the hollow of the wrist.

82

The surprising texture gently glides beneath your fingers, as the floral bouquet of J’adore majestically unfolds with new structure and depth. Skin warmed by a pleasant texture, easily made yours, simply by touch. J’adore Touche de Parfum reinvent the art of perfuming. The Jasmin Sambac and Damascus Rose of the Eau de Parfum and Eau de Toilette take on novel woody accents with Sri Lankan Sandalwood. The Tuscan Iris of the Voile de Parfum is cloaked in mystery. Outside the finest flowers of J’adore to pair it with such as Turkish Damascus Rose, Indian Tuberose, Lily of the Valley accords and White flowers, other unique facets are to be found as well. An overdose of Sri Lankan Sandalwood stands out with its depth and milkiness, lending mystery and a noble quality to the new faces of J’adore.

Extracted from Hibiscus seeds, Ambrette delicately blending fruity notes of Pear, Liqueur and light Musk. Precious and unique, it works in perfect synergy with the floral harmony of J’adore. Floral absolutes are heightened by the dry oil texture that brings their aromas into full bloom. Exceptionally rich in natural raw materials, each drop reacts differently on one’s skin, releasing an eccentric scent, like a fingerprint

in a more enjoyable way. The bottle itself is a technological wonder, where a capillary system exclusive to the Dior Maison de Parfums facilitates application to twist the bead of the amphora bottle to draw a drop into the applicator and captures it there until it is applied to the skin and releases the “touch”. There will be no oily texture on skin that distracts the moment of sensory pleasure.

Aston Martin DB11 An Iconic Lineage

Spectacular standard-bearer for an all-new generation of cars, DB11 is the most powerful and most efficient ‘DB’ production model in Aston Martin’s history. Aston Martin’s DB11 is also a design evolution. To honour the ‘DB’ legacy, Aston Martin distilled the design down to its very essence and used it to create something evolved, bold and fresh. Instantly recognisable, its design looks inherently right, yet utterly different. Its form develops organically from nose to tail; muscle and sinew building volume and shaping surface details, with classical proportions providing the perfect bone structure beneath. Familiar elements have evolved. The iconic radiator grille has been reinterpreted, its lines and features amplified and celebrated. All-new LED head and tail-lights create expressive visual signatures. Triumphant new elements, such as the dramatic roof strake, underline DB11’s confidence

88

and originality, while the new side strakes, key to DB11’s pioneering aerodynamics, bring harmony of form and function. Two of the most distinct features of DB11 are the striking new grille and clamshell bonnet. Truly an iconic signature, the front grille has been developed into a more dominant feature. The clamshell bonnet is a continuation of this fearless design philosophy, succeeding to reconcile the conflicting demands of styling and stringent pedestrian safety legislation. Its wraparound form minimises unsightly shut-lines for a pure, sculptural quality not seen on other cars. DB11’s body structure designed to achieve stronger, safer, more dynamic and space-efficient. Increasing the wheelbase by 65 mm has enabled the positioning of the V12 engine further back for near-perfect weight distribution. The door apertures are larger, front seat occupants enjoy 10 mm of extra headroom, while rearwards, a 54 mm increase in

Registry Indonesia

Automotive Aston Martin July 2016.indd 88

8/9/16 10:55 PM

headroom and 87 mm more legroom mean DB11 is a true 2+2. With a luggage compartment that can swallow two golf bags and ISOFIX points enabling the fitment of two child seats, this exhilarating Grand Tourer is realworld prepared. The new twin-turbocharged 5.2 litre V12 engine, boasting 600 bhp and 700 Nm of torque, makes this the most powerful DB production model in Aston Martin’s history. It’s also the most dynamic, reaching 322 kmh, with 100 kmh dispatched in 3.9 seconds. What’s less expected is that DB11 should also be the cleanest and most fuel efficient DB ever produced, yet such are the tremendous advances made by this landmark car. To increase the driving performance dynamic, DB11 exploits its inner strength and immense V12 performance with completely re-worked chassis, suspension, steering and electronics. Revised suspension with adaptive

damping and multiple driver-selectable dynamics enrich DB11’s adaptability. Select GT mode for exemplary ride quality, or switch to sport for added firmness and agility assisted by the new electric power steering and Torque Vectoring limited-slip differential. Selecting Sport Plus entirely turns-up the intensity; suspension, steering, eight-speed automatic transmission and Torque Vectoring system work in unison to truly awaken the sports car within. Thanks to an inspiring palette of colours and a vast array of detailing options, inside DB11 is a world that can be perfectly in-tune with each individual unique style. DB11’s sumptuous natural materials, the highest levels of craftsmanship and state-of-the-art climate control and infotainment technology provide the ultimate in comfort and convenience. DB11 is truly an immaculate work of automotive art. The pure and honest product of authentic and justified lines of Aston Martin.

Armani Casa

Simple, Elegant and Sophisticated

Armani/Casa was founded in the year 2000, inseparably linked to the other worlds within the Armani Group, providing a platform for Giorgio Armani to set out his vision of the living space: an intimate and very special place with a mood of emotional pleasure, somewhere to relax and entertain guests surrounded by beauty and elegance. This is achieved through the synergies of a home collection ranging from furniture to accessories, textiles and decorative objects, blending together to form a sophisticated atmosphere. On this summer 2016, MOIE is pleased to introduce Armani/Casa in Indonesia through its Pacific Place Jakarta showroom. Designed by Armani/Casa Studio, the showroom features a delicately curated selection of Armani/Casa premium furniture from the classics to the limited editions, lightings, fabrics, wall-coverings, textiles, and home accessories. The showcase offers an opportunity to experience first-hand sophisticated Italian design personally directed by the iconic Giorgio Armani, all within a luxurious new space. Armani/Casa’s distinctive style incorporates a harmonious combination of different inspirations and design codes. The reference points can be found in the Art Decò period of the 30’s and 40’s and the cultures of the Far East. It’s the same inspiration that can be found in the fashion collection. Precious materials, sophisticated finishes,

splendid textiles and immaculate details lie at the root of Armani/Casa’s aesthetic philosophy – an expression of a cultivated stylistic code that, while untouched by seasonal trends, is nevertheless the result of contemporary research. Armani/Casa aesthetic philosophy focuses on simple and elegant lines, enriched with precious materials, refined elegant finishes, splendid textiles and immaculate details. The quest for sophisticated comfort and subtle luxury turns into the creation of a total home setting, which uses contemporary, modern and rational design language. Armani/Casa minimal lines and designs are enriched with sophisticated woods and materials, some of which are especially conceived by the creative team in collaboration with the most excellent craftsmen in Italy, experimenting new processing techniques and

combination of materials. Besides the basic but still remarkably finished woods, Armani/Casa finishings include rare, exotic woods, coloured and textured lacquers, very precious elaborated materials that combine wood and other unique materials, refined metals as well as plane or textured leathers. During its 10 years of existence, Armani/Casa has never ceased to evolve, develop and grow into a comprehensive collection of furniture, accessories, rugs, lamps and textiles, and now also offers innovative concepts for the kitchen and bathroom. It allows the creation of many different stylistic atmospheres, which can best respond to the variety of different wishes and desires of consumers for their residential needs. The unifying principle throughout is one of essentiality and sophisticated elegance.

Fabric design by Fauvisimo is made with the intention of brighten up a room with some loud yet tasteful designs and patterns. As the name of the concept implies, Fauvisimo was inspired by vibrant colors and bold brushstrokes of the early 20th century – the Fauvist art movement. Color clashes and pattern mix revitalize any living space and create a more inviting atmosphere. Flowers and landscapes: effortlessly mesmerizing and liberated, the inherent beauty of nature and intensity of color completed by portrayals of small birds perched on branches – both printed on voile and embroidered. The layering technic of contrasting tones creates a warm ambience over the cooler backdrop of natural cloth. Goodrich’s wood flooring is an eternal beauty. Timber flooring has a relatively lower maintenance compared to hardwood flooring. Premium timber flooring features a higher moisture tolerance and shrinkage resistant. Wood flooring can flexibly be laid over most flooring type in a relatively quick process.

110

Wallcoverings from Dutch Masters Collection are inspired by the famous masterpieces from the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam. This collection creates a darker ambience of lush blooms with black-as-night backgrounds in a riot of vintage-inspired greys, deep reds and creams. Dutch Master print designer from the 21st century, Katarina Stupavska, designs the digital wallcoverings as an expression of emotions and a medium to tell a story. Dark cloudy sky in pink and violet hue, blooming flowers and colorful flying faunas – all the elements needed are painted beautifully to make one feels like fluttering amongst the sky. So dark yet so calming, it is an ideal color palette for one to come home to. The new carpet release is from Estella Collection, Brink & Campman. Uniqueness can be seen from its features of encryption service for secure calls between 2 Goldvish phones and its model customization by request – including 18-carat gold frame and pave diamond surfaces – all outside a number of styles and limited editions to come during the year.

HYT (THE HYDRO MECHANICAL HOROLOGISTS) RC44 10-years Celebration HYT mixes mechanics and liquid within a wristwatch, where the strictest codes of fine watchmaking get shattered along the process, yet still produces one irresistible piece. Two flexile reservoirs with a capillary attached at each end – colored liquid in one and transparent in the other. Colored liquid indicates the hours and reservoirs are made from a supple, highly resistant alloy driven by a piston; the two work together in a retrograde manner every 12 hours. HYT RC44 is an ideal combination of fine watchmaking and liquid mechanism.

Aside from the beautiful and exciting destinations, nothing lifts the mood of an avid traveler better than a free visa. After all, a visa-free facility eliminates one more barrier standing between a traveler and his destination. Indonesia – the largest archipelago in the world – known for its pristine beaches, lush tropical forests and diverse culture, has recently extended its visa-free facility to no fewer than 169 countries and territories. The policy to grant visa-free facility to a much larger number of countries and territories was made as a part of the government’s efforts to boost the country’s economy through tourism. The government has announced its aims to reach 20 million visitors by 2019. Presidential decree no. 21 of 2016, which was signed by President Joko Widodo on March 2nd this year, details the policy’s terms and conditions and encloses the list of countries.

124

Visitors from enlisted 169 countries and territories, which include United States and Australia, are required to have their passports with minimum validity of six months and a return ticket upon entry. Meanwhile, nationals of Afghanistan, Cameroon, Guinea, Israel, Liberia, Niger, Nigeria, North Korea, Pakistan and Somalia, still need a visa approval from the Immigration Office in Indonesia prior to their travel. The visa-free facility, which is granted for the purpose of leisure or tourism, family, social, art and cultural, governmental, educational, business meetings and transit visits, is valid for up to 30 days. It is non-extendable and non-convertible. Entry and Departure Points There are designated points of entry and departure as well. However no

The Fazioli’s factory is located in Sacile, 60 km (35 miles) northeast of Venice in the northeastern part of Italy. The area is renowned for an ancient and prestigious tradition in woodworking. Art and science, passion for music and scientific knowledge, excellent craftsmanship, firm commitment to technological research and highly selected materials: these are the main elements required to produce a Fazioli piano.

Each instrument is individually handcrafted combining high quality materials with the finest workmanship and technology. The Fazioli soundboard is made by entirely of red spruce from the Val di Fiemme, a valley in the eastern Italian Alps. Evenness, lightness and flexible strength are a typical feature of this wood. Antonio Stradivarius used the wood from this forest for his legendary violins. Fine inlays of natural and colored exotic woods embellish this model of Fazioli F212 Malachite. Mother of pearl with the semiprecious stone Malachite, give birth to a complex design featuring arabesques. Fazioli F183 Ebony Polish is a mellow, rich and brilliant sound suited for the entire piano repertoire. With a fine balance between the bass and treble, this piano has a projecting tone, which exceeds its dimension. The F308 Ebony Polish is the absolute crown jewel of Fazioli’s Pianoforti. Fazioli’s longest concert grand piano is designed for modern large-capacity concert halls. Its immense power and extraordinary harmonic richness derive from an increased string-length in the bass section. The F308 exhibits a fourth pedal, invented by Fazioli, which allows the artist to reduce volume without modifying timbre. Considered across the world as a classic size for performing and teaching, the F212 Ebony Polish is suitable also for medium concert halls. The excellent balance between the bass and treble and the wide dynamic range render this instrument particularly well suited for the recording studio. Registry Indonesia

Bluthner : The craftsmanship of a Blüthner piano is unparalleled. The use of the Blüthner-patented Aliquot stringing method enhances the quality of Bluthner instruments by providing more depth to each note and creating a fuller sound. It is this stringing method that led the famous composer Tchaikovsky to exclaim: “Blüthner is the perfection of sound.” A masterly craftsmanship, in unison with premium quality components that embrace the tonal philosophy of Blüthner, combined with the futuristic language of design, have produced the extraordinary in Piano Manufacturing Excellence: Lucid Piano. Lucid Crystal Pianos are a perfect addition to any sophisticated home. They combine the beauty of modern acrylic design with the excellence in performance that is expected from an instrument manufactured by Blüthner. Each Lucid Grand Piano handcrafted to the customers personalized specifications, no matter how exquisite and demanding their requests. You are invited to create

your own masterpiece with a wide selection of elegant and modern elements. Once you have decided which model and size is right for you, your personal representative will communicate with you to insure that all your requirements are met. The manufacturing starts with the heating and molding of the acrylic for both the inner and the outer rim. Once the acrylic is cooled to room temperature, the supporting beams are assembled and glued in the inner rim. The soundboard and cast iron frame are then fitted on this inner rim, which will support the soundboard and the frame, the basic structure of a grand piano. Lucid Piano will have the same performance characteristics as a standard Blüthner Piano. The use of acrylic, rather than wood provides stability against humidity and brings the design into the 21st century. Lucid’s unique designs coupled with Blüthner’s attention to detail, allows us to craft exceptional instruments that carry the name of a brand that has perfected the piano production process during its 160 years of existence.

Mr. Anouar Guerraoui A Centennial and 10

The enduring passion for craftsmantship was born in Hamburg, Germany 110 years ago. It started only with a vision to create a tool of revolutionary handwriting. The name Montblanc was inspired by the highest mountain in Europe that would come to symolize their vision of excellence and their pursuit of ultimate performance and the finest craftsmanship. The logo, the six-pointed white star, represents the six snow-covered glaciers of the majestic mountain. It is today featured on every writing instrument manufactured by Montblanc ever since. Having celebrated its centennial 10 years ago, Montblanc certainly does not lack any reasons to celebrate their success and values. Montblanc uses the opportunity of celebrating its 110th aniversary to communicate to the masses the pioneering spirit of Montblanc, which revolves around the values of the company: performance, innovation, high quality, fine craftsmanship. According to Anouar Guerraoui, Managing Director of Montblanc South East Asia, this was one classy way of the company to bring its novelty product that is identified with this pioneering spirit. When Mountblanc was established in 1906, its vision was mainly to create a tool that would revolutionize the art of handwriting. The three founders of Mountblanc, Alfred Nehemias, August Eberstein and Clauss Voss, were inspired by the latest mechanical innovations they have witnessed in America, that brought the idea to life. The pioneering spirit was this revolution which has since been a driving force for the company. Montblanc became the leading company that brought a new technical innovation of handwriting to the world. The key launch of Montblanc’s 110th anniversary this year is the Rouge & Noir, which was the first safety fountain pen of the company. The fountain pen was first developed in 1909 and considered as an outstanding technical achievement, where the need for dipping the nib into an ink is now completely eliminated. Montblanc’s idea of celebrating its 110th year anniversary was precisely to relaunch the first product ever that they have made. “Basically the idea was to take the traditional, original piece, and how to add the values of innovation and performances to the original one, and have the final product that we have now,” Anouar Guerraoui pointed out. The special edition of Rouge & Noir 110th Anniversary is a re-launch of several element that were found in the original products of Montblanc in the early years. It is a

combination of the first collection of Montblanc, namely the “Heritage Collection”, with the eccentric and mystical design of the serpent on the special Writer’s Edition of the classic style of the early 1920’s. The design was originally created in the honour of Agatha Christie. The initial idea of the serpent was to interpret the creeping tension of the author’s novels, which was emphasized even more by the eyes of the snake made of rubies that glint bewitchingly. It is precisely the same serpent design that was chosen this year, an effort to repeat the success of the early years of Montblanc. The serpent was a tactical choice to add to this year’s special edition. As Guerraoui explained, “The snake is an interesting aspect to add because it represents rebirth, healing, as well as it is for us very chic and glamorous.” And also, the clip of the pen features the serpent which suitably fits both the design and the functionality. Delivering on the quality and performance values, Montblanc improved another element to the original Rouge & Noir besides the mystical design of the serpent - the nib of the pen. Whereas the earlier version of the collection was made of sterling silver, the nib of this year’s collection is made of 18 carats of gold, plated with titanium. The traditions of goldsmithing and gem-setting are part of the art of Montblanc writing instruments. Its decorations enhances the appearance of the special edition artisan writing instruments. Each pen is individually crafted, where the passion for design is applied to the creation of accessories, whether cufflinks or jewellery. Sophisticated and refined, each piece is thoughtfully, meticulously and carefully designed before being brought to life the hands of the most skilled artisans. Guerraoui explains that the 110th anniversary is one of the most important milestones of Montblanc, and with every milestone, a different key launch from different categories is focused on. Today, the company continues to evolve the expression of fine craftsmanship throughout its product categories besides writing instruments: timepieces, leather goods, accessories, fragrances and eyewear. With every development, innovation and new design, Montblanc continues to offer new functionalities and groundbreaking designs imbued with the heritage of sophistication and craftsmanship to the highest standards of cultural commitment, while paying tribute to the modern day patrons who support the advancement of the arts.

MANAGING IN DIFFICULT TIMES

Preface from Chief Editor Dearest honorable readers, warm greeting to each and every one of you. Thank you for the positive response and generous welcome from the previous business write ups. This month, we are delighted to share Dr AB Susanto thoughts about common issue that majority business are facing in 2016, that is Managing in Difficult Times. As we all know, year 2016 is not a really good year for most entrepreneurs and business practitioner. Therefore, we want to invite all the respected readers to discuss upon how to effectively manage their companies when economic is slowing down. It is apparent that few industries have been going through a rough patch and backlash against it. However, we believe there is always light in every darkness if we allow ourselves to see it. Let us carefully manage this issue by having a deeper understanding about the situation and finding out ways to overcome all issues in regards to the circumstances.

Unravel the Term ‘Difficult Time’ Through Different Lenses Stakeholders in business world i.e. business practitioners, sellers, consumers, and suppliers tend to associate difficult time in business world as a “crisis”. Meanwhile, this is not always the case from my own experience as a consultant; crisis occurs when there has been a fall in Gross Domestic Product nationally brought on by the financial crisis, one thing that leads to another. For instance, the housing bubble back in 2008 that leads to a collapse of over half of United States was a major crisis that led to recession across the globe. However, in micro scale ‘difficult times’ do not always mean a company has hit rock bottom of a crisis. In rare cases, crisis can also be an opportunity for certain company sector to grow and does not always bring negative impact to business. Difficult times although inevitable are still manageable, if we put solid pre-caution to the symptoms and figure out ways to settle it. In general, difficult times can be characterized into three different conditions; increase in number of employee layoffs, expenses rebates and lower consumer confidence that results in falling of purchasing power.

Lower Consumers Confidence Index In surge of economic downfalls, business can face difficulties from different aspects, one that is prominent and can bring prolonged mass impact to company’s longevity is consumers confidence index. What does the term means? This means due to slow economic growth, consumers are less likely to spend their money on expenditures. However, the nature of your business will determine whether this period of time will bring negative or positive impact to your enterprise. If your company is selling commodity products i.e. necessities and basic needs, the business will not be

140

greatly affected or in odd circumstances this situation can in turn bring positive impact to your company. In contrast, business that is focusing on luxury goods are high likely to be negatively affected.

Pessimistic Atmosphere Pessimistic Atmosphere is apparent in both internal and external side of a company. External factors are things outside the company that can hardly be controlled. This will include lower consumer confidence index as has been explained previously or lower supplier confidence because our credibility in supplier’s eyes will go down the drain in spite of difficult times. Internal factors are aspects inside the company that might have changed accordingly due to the difficult times. Simple example would be company is more likely to cut down on daily operating expenditures, and will be less prone to purchase company car or even other machines that require large sum of capital. Another example is to have a recruitment freeze but need to be very careful when doing so, because during a hard time there could be division that needs to be reinforce, hence new recruits will be needed in that specific area only.

Three Top Solutions to Override ‘Difficult Time’ Scenario So what can we do to manage all the issues mentioned above? First, let me introduce you with the SPF Approach, S.P.F stands for Speed, Priority and Flexibility. These are the three points you need to put attention of when you are facing difficult times. I will explicitly explain all of the points in greater details for all the respected readers to put this into practice and apply it in their business setting. Speed is the first step we need to look at when facing challenges in business world, this means ability to act spontaneously in times of hardships. This might include solid formation of good communication system from high tiers to low tiers of corporate unit, and draft plans followed by immediate action against the situation. Every step needs to be done with speed, perhaps without having to wait for new long-term strategy adoption or detailed tactic. This step is vital because a prolonged hardship within the company can lead to a crisis that will results in major

Dr. AB Susanto Chairman The Jakarta Consulting Group drawback in both financial and productivity scale. Even though speed is important, this is not the only parameter for a good decision making process during difficult times. At this stage, it will be best to support speed with priority. The most efficient decision will only take place if the leader can identify other alternatives action that need to be taken to solve the occurring problems. Therefore, a good leader needs to have the ability to prioritize and select action that is deemed to be more important accordingly. Tactic and Practical thinking ought to be taken into account in spite of considering priority to prevent the spread of the problems and avoid further damage to the company. Cash management is imperative, in a sense that revenue should always be greater than the incurring expenses. The issue with cash flow can be resolved in an old-fashioned way, such as barter. When there is a shortage of cash, barter is one alternative to be considered because this will reduce the flow of money that is draining out of the business. Equally important is to progress in product development and focus less in other irrelevant operating expenses. Furthermore, it is advisable for leader to recognize the urgency level of every trembling issue in the office and have to obtain enough participation from each functional, business unit and corporate level of a company and synchronize to build a solid team. Lastly, it is important to be ‘flexible’ in plight of hardship because every once in a while business will have to face different circumstance and it is advisable for the business to respond and adapt upon these changes. Although, most company already have a standard operating procedures but in a dynamic business world we cannot always follow that standard and will need to respond differently to varying situations. How do we define ‘flexibility’ of a company? There are three aspects that I want to discuss namely; finance, people and operation. In regards to finance, when company is facing difficulties, we need to start looking at idle assets and possibility to sell those assets to increase our cash flows. Secondly, the issue with people always lingers upon recruitment procedure, despite of hiring new employees, it is wise to invest more on the present employees and invest more in training and performance appraisals. In general, attitude of an employee takes a major part in

Dr AB Susanto is an expert in strategic management. He is known as the founder of the Jakarta Consulting Group, a powerful strategy consulting organization that serves Private, State Own Enterprise and Government institution. As a senior consultant, he has gained broad network and experience in dealing with various type of leaders. He now serves as the Chairman of JCG, and Advisor for various other business and social organizations. For example; Commissioner of Sinopec’s PT Solaris Indonesia, Founder of Global Peace Foundation, UNICEF and also involve in several Leprosy organisations. His main interest and research include; among others leadership, change management, holding company management, and family business. He has published more than 50 books such as; Vision and Mission Development, Super leader, Corporate Culture, Family Business, CSR, and Strategic Intervention for Regional Economic Development, etc. Other than that, He is also a vivid enthusiast of gemmology (diamonds, precious stone and art). performance appraisal, but at times likes this it is normal to shift our focus from attitude of an employee towards quality and quantity of the employee himself. Additionally, in respect to operation, depending on the sector and industry of a business the operating system will vary accordingly. Most common action that can be done by business in manufacturing industry is to focus more on new product development and if possible move the production system to starts producing basic needs thorough by solid market assessment on the current consumers need. If your business lingers in service industry, hence it is important to improve the standard of service. For instance, delivery system of a product can be increased from 1x36 hours to 1x24 hours or other strategy will include giving extra or bonus gift to the consumers when they increase the product quantity bought. On the whole, every business needs to avoid activities that are redundant and put more concentration towards serving specific market that bring the biggest turnover for the business.

Ming Ma: The Artist Upstairs

My Faces, 2012

Sotheby’s Hong Kong Gallery has been offering a diverse programme for international audiences since May 2012. An allpurpose gallery of more than 15,000 square feet has exhibited Asian and international modern and contemporary arts covering such varied categories from Chinese ceramics and bonsai, Japanese erotica to 19th century European decorative arts and comic manuscript. This year Sotheby’s Hong Kong Gallery presents a selling exhibition of Ming Ma: The Artist Upstairs from August 25th to September 2nd 2016. Ming Ma himself was born in Hong Kong in 1959. He went to a

158

design school before embarking upon his career, from photography, interior design and art director for film prior to opening his famed ceramics studio ‘M’s Ma’ in Hong Kong, then he dedicated himself wholeheartedly into painting. A major illustration artist for renowned filmmaker Yon Fan, Ming Ma has illustrated most of his publications, including the recently released Romantica, as well as his early work series The Artist Upstairs. Ming Ma’s works have been put on display in numerous museum-scale group exhibitions and solo exhibitions – Ming Ma Ceramics and Hong Kong Ceramics in Taipei.

Ming Ma works with a variety of mediums, however this particular exhibition will highlight more than 50 portraits and illustrations. The artist thrives on the expression – in an abstract and minimal style – of fine details of beauty and despair in society. He is renowned for the exaggerated and unusual character profiles in his portraits. Ming Ma collaborates with the filmmaker Yon Fan in emphasizing a particular scene and moment in time with Yon’s poetic inscriptions completing each work by giving a unique backdrop. Audiences are invited to experience a dialogue between the two artists in illustration medium. Ming has a distinctive use of color and

line thus adding more dynamic to the compelling compositions of each figure he portrays. Sotheby’s Hong Kong Gallery Directory Jasmine Yan uttered several remarks about Ming Ma, some of which being an artist who skillfully applies the unusual combination of oil and paper as core material; bringing a sense of solitude to viewers by composing deep shades of primary color. This rare and unconventional has now somehow become his signature, either on his earlier oil and paper works or the more recent pen on paper works.
