ROCHE BOBOIS Softness and Playfulness

Roche Bobois introduces some unexpected characteristics for 2017, going off the beaten path with their new architect Jean Nouvel. They also introduce creations that are original but not obtrusive, unique but not too bizarre. Nicolas Roche, the collections director said, “When you play with greens of different finishes, nothing should be too overpowering, nothing should clash. We keep a sense of softness and playfulness in our pieces, using both graphic and visual aspects.” The new 2017 collection blends past trends, with the ten-year anniversary of the Legend bookcase, with current trends and the creations designed by Jean Nouvel. These two looks reflect two of Roche Bobois’ signature aesthetics. Gilles Bonan, the CEO of Roche Bobois, says that the brand is continuing to create close connections between art and culture. For more than half a century, Roche Bobois has not only been a leading brand in France, but also an international brand with locations in 55 countries. The architect Jean Nouvel has also designed two original pieces for Roche Bobois: a round table and a totem column. He noticed many

18

lacquered pieces of furniture, which is one of the constants in their collections. Nouvel loves lacquers and mirror since they are able to tilt space into other dimensions. He likes dark mirror that makes one get lost in. He then designed the Li-Da Twist and Turn table, inspired by Chinese top-turning table, which Nouvel then interpreted: he kept the rounded shape, refined the moving element, and used a two-tone lacquer. Another piece he designed was Li-Do Hide and Seek column, where two cylinders rotate around each other creating a creative and space-efficient storage system. Christophe Delcourt designed Ecorce, the Legend bookcase, back in 2007. For its 10th anniversary, the brand added new finishing touches without compromising its original design. This “bark” version of the Legend bookcase uses preserved bark and sapwood. The new outcomes are Mix and Carbon. The former mixes four different types of wood: oak, ash, cherry and walnut; whilst the latter is made by hand using larch wood, then heavily sanded to reveal the grain and other imperfections. The 2017 key themes are widely various, including the Northern Wind. Calmness, simplicity, and clean lines: this collection is inspired by Scandinavian

design. It features pieces that are contemporary, timeless, original and refined. The Dolphin swivel armchair, designed by Cédric Ragot, features a seat that is suspended over a sculpted piece of wood. The seat’s foam padding provides comfort, softness and cosiness. This key theme also features Aster table, constructed of repeating Y shapes in solid oak, the base can be adjusted to increase or decrease the dimensions of the top. This mathematical design was developed by Franco-Algerian designer, Reda Amalou. Roller Bar To Go by Toni Grilo, is a one of a kind piece of furniture. Made of beech and walnut veneer, this piece has a secret: its two cylinders swivel and unfold, transforming into a bar. One key theme is Natural Beauty, where flora and fauna are honoured for their simplicity, spontaneity, and beauty. The designs for these pieces are inspired by the lushness of the forest and the oddities of nature. The Escapade sofa is designed for outdoor and indoor use, an ideal piece for relaxation. With its alluring shape, XXL depth, adjustable backs, small occasional tables and Missoni fabric, it is a perfect combination created by Sacha Lakic. Mucidule / Organique-Chic. It is a table with the shape of a mushroom or jellyfish. A literal implementation of nature designed by Antoine Fristch & Viven Durisotti.

Another key theme amongst many others is Going Green, which enhances the use of the colour, a vibrant yet soothing tone that creates a calm and elegant ambiance. Often overlooked, it makes a statement by using cool and bold green colours. The Big Sleep bed designed by Roberto Tapinassi and Maurizio Manzoni makes a statement with its bold asymmetrical base. The bed also features a velvet headboard with a leather border and vertical bands. Quadrille chair in English Green colour, designed by Alnoor, perfectly suits the quilted look. The armchair is available with options: as a rocking chair or set with a fixed base.

Marble collection by Roche Bobois in 2017 is called Marble in all of its states. Marble is a noble and exceptional material that demands to be noticed. Designers use it or are inspired by it to create pieces of furniture. Aqua dining table rests on a drop-shaped base that is carved out of a single piece of Carrara marble. It extends to the polyurethane top covered with black of white Fenix. The technical prowess creates a breathtaking result by creating a balance between volume, mass and materials. This is also available as an oval dining table with a length of 2.5m, or a round pedestal table, all designed by Fabric Berrux.

Humble, highly dedicated, creative and determined for success, Helen Gumanti is leading her family owned company while building her own music business. Over an afternoon tea, Helen shares with Registry Indonesia about the journey of the company, her piano stores and her vision as the second-generation business leader. The company, PT Fajar Gelora Inti, better known as Fagetti, is now hailed as the largest premium grade natural stone supplier in Indonesia, ranging from onyx, granite and marble, to limestone and travertine. “We source natural stones from all over the world to provide choices to designers and private home owners. We currently have more than 900 different types of stones ready stock in our warehouses,” Helen explains while touring Registry Indonesia around the factory. “Having the largest ready stock material and overseeing a perfect installation on sites are also the main reasons for major developers to appoint Fagetti as their first choice for their prestigious projects.” As she shows arrays of natural stone slabs neatly displayed in one of the factory’s buildings, Helen explains, “My father has established Fagetti from scratch. His sharp business acumen, hard work and integrity are what led him to grow the business.” In building a second-generation success, she works hand-inhand with her brother, Yudi Gumanti. “We are building synergy together for the company’s better management,” Helen remarks. “With the corporate values that our father has created, we are eager to make Fagetti better and bigger. Fagetti is known to be a trendsetter and the benchmark of natural stone industry locally. To ensure the best quality of production, we have our own stone lab and we use cutting-edge technology with the best possible supporting materials.” Helen strives to provide solutions for architects and end users in their endeavour to create a unique and elegant design using natural stones. Born in Surabaya, Helen initially joined the company upon her return from her academic pursuit in the US. Later in 2003 she founded Hellenoz Marble, a member of Fagetti group serving the needs of middle to high-end customers. Helen is also a seasoned pianist who has had a lifelong passion for classical music. During his childhood, she as a classical pianist played and performed in various concerts in Indonesia and abroad since the age of eight, and had her first solo recital when reaching nine, performing major works of Bach, Mozart, Debussy, Chopin, Schubert and Prokofiev. She was invited to perform in Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Paris, London and the US as a soloist and an accompanist. In 2012, Helen and her husband Maxime Séguin, who is a Jazz pianist, opened Piano Vertu in Montréal, Canada. Later, Helen opened The Grand Signature Piano, a unique piano store in Plaza Indonesia in March 2016, followed by The Grand Atelier and Culture Centre in Fagetti Building, Mangga Dua in January 2017. Both showrooms carry only the finest handcrafted pianos, Blüthner and Fazioli –many of which are limited editions.

“The Grand Atelier and Culture Centre will launch the premiere of The Grand Show with Ananda Sukarlan as the host. It’s the first classical music talk show in Indonesia, which will feature a series of events with various topics relating to classical music. The first event will be held on 12 April presenting Paolo Fazioli, the living legendary pianist and engineer who creates one of the highest performance pianos in the world”, says Helen who holds double degrees in Piano Performance and Psychology from The University of Texas at Austin. “Piano is the soul of a house. It functions as both an elegant furniture piece and a musical instrument. A fine craftsmanship coupled with a highly customised designed piano that fits and reflects the character of its owner will surely give more warmth to a house, a touch of luxury and a great pride.” She adds that the high-performance pianos have intrinsic value to their unparalleled quality, and that these pianos have a great investment value. She then cites Europe as she passionately explains, “Over there, high quality pianos like Blüthner which is handcrafted from Germany since 1853, and Fazioli, an Italian piano claimed by many as the best piano in the world today, are in fact passed down from one generation to another and increase its value with time. My vision is to build a historic milestone in Indonesia by creating the infrastructure together with the current classical musicians for young generation who studied classical piano abroad. The Grand Signature Pianos also produce classical CDs and concert events that help aspiring classical pianists to exist in Indonesia.” Helen feels that the combination of being the exclusive distributor in Indonesia for these signature pianos and carrying on the legacy of Fagetti is a perfect one. She remarks that designers and home owners were thrilled to welcome the arrival of these fine pianos to enhance the elegance and luxury of their projects that use marble, onyx and other natural stones from Fagetti. Despite her busy daily routine, life is not all about work. “I believe that life needs to be kept in balance. I enjoy travelling. Having businesses in two countries and four children, my life is never boring and I have every reason to travel a lot. I love Europe for its romantic atmosphere. There are still a lot of places, including in Indonesia, that I want to visit,” says Helen whose favourite fashion brands include Armani Exchange, DKNY, Valentino, Sebastian Gunawan, Jimmy Choo, Chanel and Prada. These fashion brands truly make up the colourful world. For Helen, life is like a melody and she has been striking the right note. In her optimistic tone, she concludes, “I’m determined to bring Fagetti and The Grand Signature Piano to the next level.”

Italian Goldsmith’s Excellence

Juliette - Necklace in White Gold with Diamonds

Animalia Peacock Bracelet

32

Animalia Monkey Bracelet

Founded in 1924, the Damiani brand excelled in Italian and International markets, becoming an ambassador of Italian style, a synonym of excellence and the best Italian jewelry tradition. Strengthened by almost a centennial tradition, Damiani has always been renowned for the quality of products and materials adopted and the exclusive design of its collections. The Juliette collection is a proof that an unrepeatable fascination of the past could be revived once again. Featuring ‘Dutch rose’ cut diamonds, in use since 1500 and thus named as it recalls a rose bud. The Juliette collection owes its special appeal to the perfect union between the rose cut diamonds and their particular pattern – the light semicircles. Today, the Juliette collection is enriched and presents a trilogy, a necklace and pendant to wear with a bracelet and two pairs of earrings, available in two versions - with a little drop or chandelier. Another collection worth mentioning is the Animalia by Damiani, featuring gecko, owl, dragonfly, fish, cat, swan, and three newcomers including monkey, parrot and peacock. The brightly coloured fancy diamonds embellishing the large cuff bracelets in galuchat skin decorated with delightful animals are the stars of this Damiani collection. However, the particular feature of these creations is that each one can be separated from the base of the bracelet and worn as a pendant or brooch. The

monkey was created in two special creations, a pendant and a watch/bracelet with the highly sophisticated lucky animal charm at the centre – whilst the peacock bracelet was created in white gold and diamonds on a cuff bracelet in powder pink polished stingray. The Emozioni collection interprets classic composition of natural and floral inspiration in a modern, elegant way through the use of diamonds. The idea was to flank the central diamond with a stream of brilliants of increasing size, thus making it even brighter. This particular complex work gives a rhythmic alternation of very pure, marquise cut diamonds surrounded by a degradÊ stream, which emphasises their brilliance and perfection, forming a composition of delicate leaves and petals. Bloody Mary necklace has been conferred with the Diamond International Award 1986, one of 18 Damiani creations that have won the award so far. The piece was inspired by Mary Tudor, recalling the ancient collars of princely clothes. A balance of yellow and burnished gold with the setting of 1,121 brilliant- and baguette-cut diamonds weighing 87.98 carats. While the Sahara bracelet, winner of the Diamond International Award in 1996, was inspired by the movement of the rippling dunes and the dazzling light of infinite mirages, showcasing the contours to the light of 1,865 diamonds.

BUCCELATI

Giambattista Valli Jewellery

Buccellati’s years of family creations are connected to the context where the brand was born, where renowned goldsmiths emerged since lifetime ago: Italy. Five centuries of Italian art gave Buccellati its techniques and high craftsmanship. The house’s unrelenting desire to create objects of rare beauty has established its distinct and inimitable style. Together with its Milanese heritage, the brand has become renowned for its subtle yet breathtaking style that evokes the glamour of the past, and still remaining relevant in the modern world. Buccellati high-jewellery collaborated for the second time with Giambattista Valli, with pieces of 2017 Spring/Summer couture catwalk presented at the French Archives in Paris in January. The crescendo of the stylistic constructions was emphasised by a unique one-of-a-kind pendants and brooches, cocktail earrings with high quality pearls and diamonds, as well as cuff bracelets. The catwalk was adorned by Buccellati designs on kunzites, aquamarines, rubellites, and tsavorites, all of important dimensions, framed with white and yellow diamonds, and refined hand-engravings on gold to make it look like a fabric. Buccellati’s pieces this season are beyond descriptions, however the details are too priceless to be left unmentioned. The T5693 Buccellati cuff bracelet in white, yellow and pink gold is adorned with rubellite and diamonds,

LOUIS VUITTON Blossoming Monogram Flower

Since 1854, Louis Vuitton has brought unique designs to the world, combining innovation with style, always aiming for the finest quality. Louis Vuitton has opened its doors to architects, artists and designers across the years, all the while developing disciplines such as ready to-wear, shoes, accessories, watches, jewellery and stationery. For this collection of Louis Vuitton Haute Joaillerie – Blossom High Jewellery collection, the house adapted the story of metamorphosis with the four-petalled Monogram Flower that constantly reinventing itself. A blooming centerpiece of seven spectacular necklaces – including the talismanic pendants – now presides over some sixty new rings, bracelets and sets of earrings. The iconic Monogram Flower is reinterpreted through its shape breaking the elements of it up and layering them in new and surprising ways. The Louis Vuitton flower adapts harmoniously to every new design: wrought in perspective or splintered into two sections, one of which ripples outwards like a seismic wave; miniaturised into geometrical patterns in enamel or graduated constellations of blue and green tourmalines. Precious and ornamental gemstones are chosen with great care, and only the most spectacular are selected. The iconic Monogram Flower is reinterpreted through its shape breaking the elements of it up and layering them in new and surprising ways. The one constant at the heart of every design is a gemstone: a flamboyant bright 7.13-carat mandarin

garnet, a 53.01-carat black opal with its kaleidoscopic reflections or a 29.75-carat tsavorite, whose rarely-seen bright sage green originates from a mine recently discovered in Merelani, Tanzania. On a pendant, one of its petals merges with a 43.05-carat beryl in an evocative bluegreen shade reminiscent of southern oceans, while the remaining three petals are fashioned from baguette-cut diamonds and perfectly calibrated chalcedonies. Contrasting materials heighten the reverberations – matte against shiny, opaque next to crystalline. Always the same and yet never identical, the abstract flower is rendered even more precious by sophisticated juxtapositions of jewellery-making techniques, sculpture, gem cutting and “Grand Feu” enamelling, forming itself into a cascade, a stepped effect, or a trompe l’oeil illusion. The volume of these shapes is offset by long, flowing chains of black onyx and diamonds. The discerning eye will distinguish the V, a nod to Gaston-Louis Vuitton’s personal signature and one of the Maison’s iconic motifs. This deconstruction gives each shape sensual contours, uncommon materials, deeply resonating colors and superb craftsmanship. The Monogram Flower stands as a vibrant manifesto to the style of Louis Vuitton jewellery.

EDWARD CHIU A Tribute to Nature

Edward Chiu Jewellery Art has always been fascinated by Nature, as evident from his many gorgeous designs that use, as their motifs, such animals and plants as flowers, the feicui bird, the gold fish, or the beetle, all found from the unadulterated natural world, but now infused with life that not only mirrors nature, but also transcends it. Edward Chiu’s Mimesis Series is a fusion of activity and eternity, of eye-catching brilliance and multi-layered subtlety – it is a magic box full of gifts that are at once magical, yet could be found everywhere in nature. The gems are colourful, their shapes varied and intricate, all faithfully representing nature and yet beautifully revealing its fascinating complexity. Edward Chiu Jewellery Art combines gems of different colours and origins to create a daring combination that projects romanticism onto the idea of flower, the culmination of which is like the Garden of Eden, once lost through our loss of innocence, but regained through imagination. The flower creations include 18K white gold lavender jade, with black coral, pearl and diamond brooch that results in a light-purple shade, while another piece of 18K white gold black jade, biwa pearls, ruby and brown diamond brooch gives a pink-fuchsia overall colour tone.

The Bird is the second motif, which has always been the Muse for Edward Chiu, who has accumulated a whole library of materials and designs on birds. The Magic Crane is one example of this. The colours of the jade are yellow, black, and white – a juxtaposition of gravity and the natural that brings out the infinitely varied but always dynamic nature of the bird. The eyes and the wings are diamonds that decorate as well as define its curved shape – both the jade and the diamonds reflect light as if to give flight to the bird. The insect is unexpectedly subversive, elevates the earthbound creature to new heights, but in the sense that the designs restore it to its rightful place in nature, one that goes undetected and underappreciated since the dawn of civilization. The Danca of the Butterfly is a case in point, made of 18K white gold, green, black and white jade, ruby and diamond brooch. Another butterfly brooch made of 18K white gold yellow, white and black jade, ruby and diamond brooch, resulting in a yellow-black coloured wings and fuchsia eyes. The beetle on the other hand, uses red and black gems to enhance the beautiful nature of the creature.

RICHARD MILLE The Feminine Side

RM 07-01

Richard Mille introduces two new models in its latest collection for ladies, the RM 07-01 and RM 037. Both models boast gem-set Carbon TPT™, which is a signature feature of the Richard Mille men’s collection. It lends watches an undoubtedly unique and powerful appearance while simultaneously ensuring an optimal protection for the calibre. Today, this material reveals its feminine side in the RM 07-01 and RM 037, which boast gem-set Carbon TPT™ of unsurpassed elegance, a Richard Mille exclusive. At the slightest wrist movement, all eyes are riveted by a striking contrast between the sparkle of clear diamonds and the matt carbon contour that adorns both of these automatic timepieces. Setting gemstones in Carbon TPT™ is a new adventure for the brand. Unlike

42

gold, which can be worked directly with tools to create the prongs that will hold the diamonds, the hardness and resistance of Carbon TPT™ require special CNC machines for milling equipped with diamond tools. This process is necessary to perform the mitraillage involved in a pavé setting. Hand-polished prongs in red or white gold are produced separately and then inserted around the many 0.25mm bearings destined to firmly contain as many as 250 diamonds in the case of an RM 037 Full Set model. The perfectly flush surface of each creation bears witness to an absolute mastery of this art. Both RM 07-01 and RM 037 are equipped with various selections of dial including Onyx, Jasper, Narce, and so on. Microblasted grade-5 titanium with electroplasma treatment gives great

Bridges are also in grade 5 titanium, microblasted and electroplasma treatment. The skeletonized baseplate and the bridges were subjected to separate and extensive validation tests to ensure optimal strength requirements. Whilst the RM 07-01 is available in ATZ white ceramic or TZP-Z brown ceramic, the RM 037 is available in ATZ white ceramic or TZP-N black ceramic, with an

oversized date display under 12 o’clock. Both models’ bezel side and case back are adorned with sapphire of 1,800 Vickers with antiglare treatment on both sides. The new RM collection is also equipped with fast rotating barrel of 5 hours per revolution instead of 7.5 hours. Thanks to the technicity of their in-house calibres and their cases adorned with diamonds and Carbon TPT™ – immutable materials – the RM 07-01 and the RM 037 are particularly balanced and refined models.

PIAGET

Celebrating 60th Anniversary

In 1957, Piaget revolutionized the watchmaking world by launching an ultra-thin watch defining the codes of a new elegance. The unprecedented thinness of its profile and the purity of its dial endowed it with a distinguished look that immediately earned it a place in watchmaking history. To mark the 60th anniversary of the launch of its iconic model, the Manufacture de Haute Horlogerie Piaget is dedicating the year 2017 to the Altiplano. Celebrated by a limited numbered edition, it welcomes for the very first time a tourbillon – the noblest of watch complications – and lights up with original radiating colors. The apparent simplicity of the ultra-thin Piaget watch conceals great horological sophistication, exemplified by the circular Côtes de Genève, bevelled bridges, circular-grained mainplate and blued screws. Each stage in the making of an Altiplano watch, from its development through to its finishing, is performed in specialised Fine Watchmaking workshops. Perfectly personified by Alain Delon, the French actor and style icon of his generation who adopted it in the early 1960s, as well as by today’s Piaget International Ambassador Ryan Reynolds. The anniversary collection opens up whole new horizons of lifestyle-based essential values. Feminine wrists are lit up by a vivid pink subtly transitioning from a more intense to a softer shade, magnificently framed by a case in polished white gold (G0A42109) or diamond-set white gold (G0A42100). The boundless creativity cultivated by Piaget is

also confirmed through an irresistible trio of Altiplano 40mm models attired in daring colors. Slate grey takes on various nuances (G0A42050). Midnight blue strikes a beautiful contrast with pink gold and flirts with electric blue (G0A42051), while pine green slides towards emerald green (G0A42052) surrounded by a glowing yellow gold case. The new classics – one manual-winding (G0A42107) and the other selfwinding (G0A42105) – are inspired by the aesthetic characteristics of the first ultra-thin Piaget watches: an historical logo, applied gold hour-markers and a central cross, in tribute to the origins of the line. Each features a sunburst

dial in the historical Piaget blue, a deep shade somewhere between cobalt and midnight blue. For its anniversary, Altiplano revives one of the Piaget style signatures: flamboyant hard stone dials in natural turquoise (G0A42173) and opal (G0A42174). In the 1960s, the 9P ultra-thin manual-winding calibre opened up all manner of possibility for ornamentation and colour. Alongside traditional gems such as diamonds, rubies, emeralds and sapphires, the Maison also worked with hard ruby, malachite, lapis lazuli, jade, tiger’s eye, coral and onyx.

AUDEMARS PIGUET Royal Oak Frosted Gold

Coinciding with the 40th anniversary of its women’s Royal Oak collection, Audemars Piguet unveiled the new Royal Oak Frosted Gold at Palazzo Vecchio, Florence on 9th of November 2016. The unveiling event was attended by the actress and brand ambassador Freida Pinto and watch designer Jacqueline Dimier, who created the first Royal Oak for women in 1976. A shining reinvention of an iconic design, this contemporary timepiece has been created in collaboration with Florentine jewellery designer, Carolina Bucci. Carolina Bucci is a jewellery designer whose creations are synonymous with a modern and effortless sense of luxury. Her creations are a vibrant re-invention of her family’s rich heritage. Growing up surrounded by jewellery and jewellers, Carolina backed up her desire to design with an education that provided her with the technical know-how necessary to execute her vision, studying Fine Arts and Jewellery Design in New York before she worked for the past 15 years alongside local goldsmiths.

The launch of the Royal Oak Frosted Gold enriches Audemars Piguet’s tradition of experimenting with jewellery techniques. Its defining feature resides in its shimmering sparkle, which comes from a surface treatment process rooted in an ancient gold hammering technique, also called the Florentine technique. Carolina Bucci has reinterpreted this technique in jewellery design today while Audemars Piguet’s experts developed it into a horological craft suited to the unique case and bracelet construction of the Royal Oak. The main challenge for Audemars Piguet’s craftsmen was to apply this surface treatment technique across the case and bracelet of the watch without altering the clean lines that define the Royal Oak’s form. It took months of trial and error between Bucci’s Florentine craftsmen and Audemars Piguet’s manufacture to alter the surface of the gold in such a way that it sparkles when catching the light, while retaining the softness and flexibility of the Royal Oak’s bracelet. It is a very delicate alchemy to operate: nothing is added, nothing is removed, but the watch is transformed. Jasmine Audemars said: “Although Carolina and Jacqueline are decades and cultures apart, Carolina’s vision today met Jacqueline’s in more ways than one, giving the Royal Oak an appeal that captures the attention from a distance while retaining the key design codes of the original piece. With this in mind, I would like to thank them both for their talented work.” She merges Dimier’s timeless design with Bucci’s contemporary approach, marking a dazzling link between modern horology and contemporary jewellery: The Royal Oak Frosted Gold.

DIOR

Joyful Dazzling Hardstones

This year, the La D de Dior Satine bears witness to the watchmaking expertise of the House’s ateliers and to Victoire de Castellane’s creativity. “I was inspired by satin ribbons, and La D de Dior Satine is a metal ribbon around the wrist,” the creative director explains. This precious ribbon represents the indelible link between couture and watchmaking that Victoire de Castellane has been weaving over the years, featuring a Milanese mesh steel bracelet whose flexibility and shine make it a real metallic fabric. With their delicate dials in white or black mother-of-pearl and their precious bezels, crowns and buckles set with diamonds, these timepieces plunge

50

us into the heart of Swiss watchmaking know-how and the poetic universe of Dior fine jewellery. When one looks back on the history of the House one discovers that Christian Dior always had a soft spot for this little piece of fabric and was fond of singing its praises: “The little ribbon bow has always been one of the most popular accessories for women. It comes in all sizes and in practically every material. You can use them on the sleeves, the cuffs,“ the couturier suggested in his Little Dictionary of Fashion. This concept is to be found in the bracelet, with a suppleness suggesting

REGISTRY INDONESIA

a ribbon that Victoire de Castellane had fun in wrapping, twisting and tying around her wrist. And in order to guarantee that this flexibility corresponds to the strictures of Dior watchmaking, the artisans have developed true treasures of ingenuity and savoir-faire. They translated the ancestral art of passementerie into the language of watchmaking. Thousands of gold or steel threads intertwine and interconnect in order to shape a curve and follow a wrist movement. With a nineteen or twenty-five millimetres diameter, the collection features five models with a steel bracelet, a dial in different shades of

mother-of-pearl and a diamond-set bezel. The La D de Dior Satine is also available in two additional nineteen millimetre versions combining a bracelet in yellow and rose gold with a golden sunray-brushed dial encircled by a diamond-set bezel. This year three new shades are joining the audacious palette: there’s timelessness to a bracelet in white or red, but explosive green adds an extravagant element. Each watch in this collection plays with the couturier’s favourite colours and contrasts with the simplicity of line intrinsic to the La D de Dior.

GIVENCHY Haute Couture 2017

Ricardo Tisci presented his collection for Givenchy Haute Couture Spring/ Summer 2017 with his muse at the end of his men’s fashion show. The inspiration behind 13 dresses he made for each of his muses were taken from the American West: long dresses with squares, ruffles and gathers of the more sensual, revealing the body. Tisci looked at images of Native American woman wearing Victorian dresses for reference. From tartan patterns to fringe embellishments and feather decorations, this season’s haute couture unveiled the following official look book starring globally renowned names: Bella Hadid, Kendall Jenner, Joan Smalls, Mariacarla Boscono, Angelica Erthal, Sunniva Vaatevik, Liya Kabede, Yasmin Wijnaldum, Juliette Topalian, Elizabeth Salt, Vittoria Ceretti, Blanca Padilla and Lea T. Mariacarla wore a long dress in silk chiffon printed with a red tartan pattern, hand pleated at the neck, cuffs and hem and embellished with thin metal disks covered with chiffon. Kendall wore a long dress in silk chiffon printed with a blue and black tartan pattern, hand smoked at the neck, waist and wrists and embellished all over with small graduated metal disks covered with chiffon.

CHANEL

An Accentuated Femininity

Transpose the ambiance of 31, rue Cambon without copying every detail. That’s what Karl Lagerfeld had in mind for the presentation of the SpringSummer 2017 Haute Couture collection at the Grand Palais. In a décor inspired by the 1930’s and Art Deco, the setting recalls the mirrors that reflect the grand staircase leading up to the Chanel Haute Couture salons. This time it’s the beige sofas that seem to have multiplied. On the same principle a large cylinder acts

60

as a kaleidoscope in the midst of the runway: in front of it, the models appear to pass by infinitely, their silhouettes also reflect in the smoky mirrored tiles engraved with the iconic quilting motif. With slicked back hair and a “flattened” top hat tilted backwards, and silver-leather high heels or thigh boots, this season’s look is all about a crazy femininity: with structured shoulders, defined and slightly raised waists, it reveals

REGISTRY INDONESIA

the accentuated hips. A glamorous silhouette reinforced by the presence of straight or tubular lines, daringly low-cut décolletés and faux pearl jewellery transformed into anklets. Alongside the major hues of white, silver and grey, the palette - illuminated each time with metallic, silver, sparkling and iridescent notes - blows hot and cold, moving from beige, pink, yellow, blue and pastel green through to black and navy. With great delicacy, the tweed suits with embroidered braid are draped at the waist, thus enhancing the curves of their tulip skirts. Playing with trompe l’oeil they become dress-coats, and the jacket appears to be tucked into a pencil skirt. At the back, ample golf pleats ensure the utmost comfort. Just as feminine and worn with tweed jackets, the dresses with officer or lavallière collars are dressed up in shimmering tones. Pleated skirts and dresses are paired with coats in iridescent tweeds.

For evening, the silhouettes come swathed in radzimir, duchess satin, organza and taffetas, flocked and laminated lace, tulle, jacquard and georgette. The pearled floral embroideries and glittering faceted stones shine over the sheath dresses and those with more generous volumes occasionally kept warm with stoles in tulle, feathers and lace. Sheath dresses take turns at being enveloped in floor-skimming mirrored embroidery; strips of sequin embellished lace, or balls of feathers. Draped bustier embroidered with rhodoid flowers and leaves, big skirts and dresses in tulle, deep and square-cut necklines plunging to the start of the waist and marabou boleros: a delicate and gracious sensuality seizes this collection that concludes with the arrival of Chanel ambassador Lily Rose Depp who walks the runway in a wedding gown composed of diaphanous flounces in pale pink organza.

MICHAEL KORS Powerful Romance

Michael Kors brought his bright sunny mood into the spring summer 2017 collection. Crisply tailored jackets and coats juxtaposed with soft fluid dresses, relaxed trousers and flirty skirts – the big and little ones. Kors’ collection incorporates a serious amount of feminine floral notes. 3D flower embroideries appeared on satin-jersey plunge dresses, crêpe de chine shorts, and wrap skirts and even popped up on oversized petal earrings. He just instantly made the trend for Spring 2017. The strong shoulder, the defined waist, extravagantly oversized pullovers, cardigans and trenches, and shrunken coquette sweater. Printed nip-waist day dresses and fit-and-flare midi-skirts lent a ‘40s vibe while crisp, pointed collars and belted suiting imbued a bit of ‘70s as well. “Love is in the air,” Kors wrote in his show program. Romantic bias ruffles, bold spring florals and 3D flower embroideries seem to all lead towards one bold theme. He also took care of his fauna-themed patterns with double-breasted coats, cashmere pullovers, and white cotton ruffled blouses, plus a few menswear-inspired khaki suits and little black stretch-tulle dresses. The show also made time for the unforgettable bathing-suit moments, from a retro-inspired nutmeg bikini with tortoiseshell embroidery to the belted floral number worn by model and environmental activist Cameron Russell. A number of highly sought models also appeared in the show, including Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid; while Sienna Miller and Emily Blunt were seen in the crowd.

Optimistic hues of aqua, palm, azalea and tangerine are blended with white, neutral shades of nutmeg, navy, chambray and sand. On the one hand, he had little nipped-waist dresses and peephole-neck jumpsuits in vivid floral prints. And on the other: belted pantsuits, a twill trench, and boyish argyle knits. Colours were juicy, like grapefruit pink and lime green, or they were streamlined black, white, and navy. Kors spreads his glass-half-full perspective worldwide. He sent out two versions of a “Love” sweater, a slouchy one for girls, and a snug one for boys.

Kors completed the collection with the curved-heel platform sandal, the sleek platform wedge and the platform oxford. Bags and clutches are equally important, with the oversized clutch and the chain handled Bermuda bag, also the utilitarian strapped satchel. Flowers come to play in bag detailing, from the patterned fabric to the 3D ornaments in various sizes and colours. Sunglasses made colourful and fun, wedges made to handle the sands. This collection mixes summer fun and elegance, wrapped up with love.

Python transports jackets, maxi gilets, shorts and micro tops into the timeless zone. Proud bikers and trenches flaunt bands of nappa, sportswear flavoured garments have the techno impact of extra lightweight calf, while the classics in plongé nappa are as light as silk. On top of all, there is the sensual biker top: twisting around the neck, it leaves a bare back and closes with a zip another chapter in Tod’s ongoing study of timelessly contemporary elegance. The Biker is a star in many guises, even in python – from classic to ultra-slim versions, short and lightweight, to the long model. Tod’s renowned bags and shoes are not to be forgotten in this collection, as the iconic Double T accessory confers graphic light on shoulder bags with a timeless aesthetic. Another Tod’s masterpiece, the wave bag, comes with maxi stripes, mixing suede with stripe effects and plays with python patterns – multicolour or otherwise, in size selections from maxi to micro. Shoes, along with the bags, are decidedly timeless pointed aesthetics. The Moccasin with the Double T is the emblem of the new style. Sneakers with the new sole, edged with raffia in coloured suede – a metallic urban light. Tod’s Sandal, flat in python or high heel in leather, the model fastens with a maxi buckle – while the Gommino interprets the summer in a sabot version, with fringe and chain. FENDI

Playful and Energetic Imagine a setting that shows outdoors, by the pool, under a glaring sun, where fragrant Mediterranean smells fills up the air, and green grass caresses the feet. Fendi invites the world to its enjoyable life and simple pleasures, where clothes that look deceptively ‘normal’ hide complex workmanships and surprise with precious materials on the inside, or on the double side. Fendi introduces a perfect balance between normality and complexity that no one has thought possible. Sun and fun are key words for the Spring/Summer 2017 Fendi Men’s Collection designed by Silvia Venturini Fendi. The collection screams playful and energetic throughout each piece of fine craftsmanship: soft and almost ‘washed’ materials combined together with welcoming shapes, defining an easy, relaxes silhouette ideal for long casual days spent outside. Coats, parkas and blousons are fluid, while shirt-jackets are firm and pragmatic shorts bare legs. Silk tracksuit and quilted caftans for a zing of exoticism, while terrycloth is used profusely: a plush indulgence, like a summer fur that says fun. Bright green exploding fur with shorts and sandals. Everything, from bucket hats to quilted coats and silk foulards, is unexpectedly reversible, allowing for sudden changes, making for a constant face-off. Stripes, both slim and bold, give rhythm and freshness, landing everywhere from suits to

bags and baggage, turning into engaging bonded textures on polo shirts, jacquards on tailored pieces, subtle prints on liquid parkas and waterproof on bathing suits. Fendi reinterprets its iconic Pequin stripes with a new artistic approach, morphing it into a vibrant, hand-drawn pattern, and creates a series of characters that swarm like patches on suitcases. Vertical wide striped trousers are paired with casual brown shoes, topped with white and stripedcollar shirt, thin striped jacket and a bright travel bag. The pool might be the horizon, in fact, but the Fendi man is essentially a traveller, bringing all he needs inside logoed travel bags, piling camera cases and stripy pouches at the neck, strapping it all together with the colourful Strap You. Cutout sneakers with ankle strings, pool slides or running socks for the shoes. The sunglasses with a slim metal frame, matching two leather layers in natural or pale colours with brow-line shape, are part of the first Fendi Men’s Eyewear Collection. His mind is free, individual and creative. Celebrity guests attending FENDI Men’s Spring-Summer 2017 Fashion Show include Niels Schneider, Alessandro Borghi, Andrea Bosca, Marco Mengoni, Delfina Delettrez Fendi and Jiang Jinfu.

BOTTEGA VENETA Made to Last

Bottega Veneta Spring/Summer 2017 collections mark the 50th anniversary of the house and 15 years of Creative Director Tomas Maier’s creative involvement with the house. He wanted to celebrate by staying true to the brand, to the ideas of private luxury that are all about the experience of whoever owns the products. From utilitarian details to smart suiting, the men’s collection features dapper silhouettes borrowed from the 1940s, multicoloured and multi-textured leather combinations, versatile casual styles and traditional craftsmanship—all combined to express simple, easy elegance. Simplicity in dressing is gained from exceptional craft and materials, elevating the intuitive combinations: jacket and skirt, shirt and pants. The silhouette is long and fluid, the look often anchored by polo shirts. Eloquent fabrics are specially developed, such as supple leather bonded with super-fine cotton, or linen with metal to keep the memory of shape. The butterfly of Bottega Veneta appears in a purposefully blurred print, or as black butterflyshaped paillettes that decorate dresses, jackets and skirts. The distinctive patchwork motif features a rich combination of burgundy, black, steel greys and greens. The geometric patches have an original, wavy shape that enhances the proportions of each item. For example, the soft backpack and convertible duffel bag retain all their original characteristics and versatility, but is updated with a new, luxurious

aesthetic. Iconic shoe styles are also proposed in the patchwork motif: from the desert boot, to the outdoor slipper, to polished sneakers. Trans-seasonal and effortlessly polished, outerwear is crafted in a colour-block combination of technical knit and soft leather. Playing with graphic prints, geometry and contrasting textures, the camouflage motif becomes a refined addition to the modern wardrobe. Relaxed shirts are printed in dark hues and soft knitwear is embellished with asymmetrical patches. Colour block inlays highlight the functional design of bags and document holders, while three contrasting colours highlight the geometric contours. Hand-painted shirts are paired with summery Fortiesstyle trousers in crisp cotton. The ensembles are elevated by slim-fitting, lightweight leather blousons in soft earthen tones. Summer suits are expertly crafted from fresh, natural fibres. Relaxed open-collar shirts and wide-fitting trousers offer a variety of monochromatic pairing opportunities. Crisp and lightweight, cotton and linen are the ideal fabrics to stay fresh during the warmer months. Oxidized silver and trademark intrecciato engraving characterize a selection of masculine silver rings and bracelets, adding a touch of Êlan to any look. Bottega Veneta’s modern interpretation of the traditional San Crispino shoemaking technique features polished calfskin, precious leathers and hand-woven detailing.

ASTON MARTIN A New Standard Bearer

Aston Martin has turned up the heat on its ultimate Super GT to create the new Vanquish S. Sharper styling, greater potency and increased athleticism define this latest evolution of an illustrious model line, which is proudly originated from Aston Martin’s legendary Works in Newport Pagnell. Dr. Andy Palmer, Aston Martin president & CEO said: “From the moment the original Vanquish was launched, it became a modern icon. It propelled Aston Martin from an era of hand-built cars to one where craftsmanship and technology combined to create a new kind of great British GT. “In its second generation, the Vanquish maintained that momentum with huge engineering advances such as its all-carbon fibre bodywork and compelling, contemporary styling. Now, the Vanquish S takes things a

80

step further, confidently asserting itself within the Aston Martin range and distinguishing itself from the new DB11. A spectacular machine in every sense, the Vanquish S is a magnificent addition to our range.” In the making of this second generation Vanquish’s evolution to S specification, careful attention has been paid to the engine, chassis and aerodynamics, so as to create a machine honed to deliver more intense thrills and even more scintillating performance. Central to this is the naturally-aspirated 6.0 litre V12 engine, which now produces up to 600PS (up from 573PS) and enjoys sensational throttle response, thanks to a revised, freer-breathing intake system. These larger volume inlet manifolds allow a greater volume of air to flow into the engine at high revs, creating a relentless power delivery and a stronger feel all the way to the redline.

REGISTRY INDONESIA

Aston Martin March 2017.indd 80

3/14/17 12:05 PM

Building on this increased intensity, the calibration of the 8-speed Touchtronic III transmission has been revised to deliver faster gearshifts and greater refinement at low speeds for a greater sense of precision and immediacy. Likewise, the suspension, damper internals, spring rates and anti-roll bar bushes have also been re-tuned to give the Vanquish S a keener edge in the more sporting suspension modes, without compromising its ability to deliver supple ride quality on demand. Visually, the Vanquish S can be readily distinguished by a new aerodynamic package. Fashioned from exposed carbon fibre, the revised front splitter and rear diffuser are combined to deliver a meaningful reduction in frontal lift with a minimal penalty in additional drag. Combined with visually striking new quad exhaust outlets the Vanquish S has more

aggressive appearance, entirely fitting for Aston Martin’s most overtly sporting GT production model. This look can be further enhanced with a range of new options. These include carbon fibre bonnet louvres, new forged 5-spoke diamond turned wheels and a choice of striking painted graphics packs. A new Vanquish S badge sits proudly on the tailgate as the perfect piece of jewellery. Inside, the Vanquish S can be further personalised with a choice of spectacular new ‘Filograph’ quilted leather and the use of new materials and finishes, such as the Satin Chopped Carbon Fibre fascia panel. Sumptuous Bridge of Weir Caithness leather offers an added touch of luxury and tactility, while Vanquish S embroidery on the headrests provides a crafted finishing detail.

MV AGUSTA MOTORCYCLES The Best Brutale of All Time

MV Agusta or Meccanica Verghera Agusta was founded in 1945. Today the brand is globally renowned as the legendary Italian motorcycle maker. Up to date, the brand has won 37 Constructors World Championships, 38 Riders World Titles, a total of 270 Grand Prix victories and not to mention a number of awards achieved. In Indonesia, PT Motor Varese Indonesia has become the newly appointed exclusive sole agent (ATPM) for MV Agusta.

84

Up until now, however, in Indonesia, its designations are known only among motorcycle enthusiasts. Thus, it has become a vision for MVI to introduce, develop, and expand MV Agusta brand in the country. And this year, fifteen years after the first Brutale series was released, MVI presents the New MV Agusta Brutale 800. The motorcycle is the result of years of research and is a totally redesign of both its exterior and engine from

REGISTRY INDONESIA

Automotive MV Agusta March 2017 alt.indd 84

its previous incarnation. What comes out of this redesign is a motorcycle that is more effective on the road and delivers more efficient performance. The Brutale 800 looks compact despite its big ‘chest’, with 32.67-inch seat height narrow tank-seat junction to ease users in reaching the ground. The Brutale 800 is naturally more aesthetic than its predecessors. The new type is modelled on more sculpted shapes which focused on the front end, while enhancing its main stylistic features, such as the elliptical shape of the headlamp with full LED and a three-pipe exhaust system with increases in shapes and capacity. To provide greater definition and aggression style to the motorbike, a futuristic-frame saddle chassis in light alloy integrated with air box and blending in with a 16.5-liter trapezoidal

tank is equipped on the motorbike. Other new features on the motorbike also include concealed passenger handles, double saddle, rear light and LED indicators, and a renewed digital instrument panel. Not only the exterior of the motorbikes, the upgrade also comes towards its engine. The engine for The Brutale 800 is fitted with a 3-cylinder engine with counter-rotating crankshaft. The engine provides better torque at the most utilized rev range, with a record for maximum torque increased by 25% with 83 Nm at 7,600 rpm, despite the reduction in power from 125 HP to 116 HP, in order to comply with Euro IV emission regulation. The engine is also equipped with Hydraulically-operated Slipper Clutch and Electronically Assisted Shift (EAS) 2.0 Up and Down Gear Shift, where it is managed with MVICS system.

collection is Oz by Nicola Gallizia. Oz is an item that is easily converted from “sofa” into a comfortable “bed”. The sofa is converted into a “bed” by the cutting edge patented mechanism that enables extraction of the bed base with depth 200cm, and causes lateral armrests to automatically fold in under the frame. Honey by Arik Levy is made of sober fabric bed with soft, comfortable headboard and tailored upholstery. Fabric or leather covering, are completely removable. Two slatted bases positions are possible in the version with container: front opening for moving stored objects, and horizontal rising to ease the bed making. Glove by Patricia Urquiola uses soft, sinuous lines that flow together to form the Glove bed, made with a supporting frame in steel covered in cold moulded foam. The cross pieces connecting the guides of the bed can support single or

divided slatted bases, which height can be adjusted. The fabric or leather covers are completely removable. The feet are always shiny aluminium. Paul sofa by Vincent Van Duysen is a seating system with elegant proportions and reassuring lines. The system includes linear sofas, corner compositions, chaises longue and islands, all with a single seat cushion. A lightweight image, marked with distinctive double stitching and accentuated by the essential design of the die-cast aluminium feet. Elements with a generous width complete the system to guarantee comfortable seating with a welcoming and luxurious look. The D.154.2 Gio Ponti armchair was designed for one of the projects closest to Ponti’s heart, the villa of the Planchart collectors in Caracas (1953-57). Today the armchair has a rigid polyurethane frame, a soft polyurethane counter – frame and a cushion, and is upholstered in the Molteni textile range.

Doda by Februccio Laviani is an interpretation of the classic bergère in contemporary style. A welcoming armchair with maximum comfort, which stands out for its measured proportions between thicknesses and the meetings of straight and curved lines. With a fixed or movable base to satisfy all needs, Doda is available with an extra fabric cover. With Doda is the pouf easy, combining with it to create a comfortable chaise longue, while Doda Low features more generous proportions and a lower back. Jan table by Vincent Van Duysen is a complete and aesthetically balanced collection achieved by reducing the superfluous and skilfully proportioning the individual components. The structural elements, made of metal, with pewter or copper finishes, bring lightness and sobriety to the volumes, while the eucalyptus or oak woods, the stones and the glass, used for the surfaces, elegantly re-design their proportions. D.552.2 Gio Ponti is a small table with a rounded triangular shape designed in the mid-1950s and originally destined to the American market - solid rosewood structure and transparent extra-light glass top, with satin brass feet.

ARITCO HOMELIFT (AHL) Next Level Living

The journey of Aritco HomeLift (AHL) started 20 years ago in Sweden with a dream to democratise mobility, driven by a passion for engineering and design. Throughout the years, Aritco lifts have elevated life of thousands of people. Now Aritco is ready for the next level. Aritco introduces the world’s first of its kind, exclusively designed for private homes. Customisable and efficient thanks to innovative engineering, it fits in every home anywhere in the world. Aritco has introduced the brand new Aritco HomeLift (AHL) to the European market, followed by the Asian market from Shanghai, Bangkok and Jakarta respectively. Aritco HomeLift (AHL) is the first lift designed by Scandinavian designer Alexander Lervik, with the homeowner and the private residence in focus. Some of Scandinavia’s most prominent designers and artists have selected art that you can add to the DesignWall. Aritco HomeLift (AHL) has been designed with both safety and reliability in focus: to meet all kinds of situations that can occur in a home, as well as to prevent accidents. Children may play in the lift and in its vicinity. Therefore, Aritco HomeLift (AHL) has smart doors and safety sensors so that small fingers cannot get hurt. You can also activate a lock, so that children cannot use the lift when adults are not present. The drive system is a well-tested and reliable screw and nut system that brings the carrier up and down. In addition, Aritco HomeLift (AHL) has safety breaks, so that you can always get out of the lift, including during a power failure in the home. All of these safety details are included in our SmartSafety system. In Indonesia, Aritco works with a local partner namely PT. PARDI SOLUSI ABADI. This company is led by Mr. Joni Tse (Managing Partner) and Mr. Edy Susanto (Partner).

DELACOUR Jakarta’s Special Timepiece In 2014 deLaCour launched a limited edition Bronzo watch; it was created in the spirit of Jakarta being the first deLaCour boutique in Asia. Following the success of this limited edition watch, Genève has collaborated once again with deLaCour to create a second series of Indonesia limited edition called Bronzo II. Bronze material will develop differently with different people, the color and patina adjusts according to oxidation, weather and the pH of a person. Thus making it, over time, personally yours. The power reserve patriotically represents Indonesia’s red- white (merah- putih) flag. And so is the black crocodile strap with red and white stitching. Bronzo II is limited edition of 18 pieces.

BAUME & MERCIER Tribute to Gentlesportsmen Baume & Mercier makes watches for every key moment of life, watches that mark memories. The Clifton Collection, one of Baume & Mercier’s watchmaking lines, is expanding this year with a new series of timepieces, the Clifton Club. The eminently athletic Clifton Club boasts a distinctive design that offers elegance, sporting prowess, functionality and comfort on the wrist. Hewn in very high-quality stainless steel (316L), the case has a round opening and a well-balanced diameter of 42 mm, to suit all wrist sizes. With a thickness of 10.3 mm, the watch can be slipped discreetly under a shirt cuff or worn conveniently while practicing a sport.

BOSE Ultimate Surround Sound Experience Bose announces three new wireless systems: the SoundTouch 300 soundbar, the Lifestyle 650 and 600 Luxury Home entertainment systems that combine stunning surround sound with an equally stunning design. Bose added advanced DSP for detail and balance across all frequencies. And because every room’s size, shape and furnishings are different, the SoundTouch 300 uses ADAPTiQ® calibration to automatically customize its sound to your home. The new Lifestyle 600 system joins the Lifestyle 650 in the line-up, featuring many of the same luxuries with four, slightly larger Jewel Cube® satellite speakers and one Jewel Cube center channel speaker.

AMANYANGYUN A Peaceful Sanctuary

Aman is proudly introducing Amanyangyun, the brand’s fourth resort in China, located just outside downtown Shanghai. The name and concept are taken from the words ‘Yang Yun’, which found in a pavilion called Yang Xing Zhai inside China’s Forbidden City. The phrase means ‘the nurturing of clouds’, referring to the nourishing of the human heart, the cherishing of the natural world, and the reverence for rhythms of the universe. Scheduled to open Autumn 2017, the resort is set in a forest of tranquility

just beyond the cosmopolitan bustle of Shanghai – the new retreat for a celebration of nature, and a sanctuary to stir the soul. Amanyangyun sits at the heart of an ancient forest of camphor trees, some over 1,000 years old and more than 100 feet tall. Despite their remarkable age, these trees are new arrivals to the area, the result of one of the most ambitious relocation and restoration projects in China’s history. Over the last decade, 10,000 camphor trees and 50 Ming and Qing

dynasty homes have been painstakingly transferred 700 kilometres to Shanghai from the Jiangxi Province in eastern China where the construction of a reservoir threatened their continued existence. Once transported to Shanghai, this epochal challenge used the 50 disassembled dynasty homes to create 26 ancient dwellings, which were reassembled within the replanted and now flourishing camphor forest. These 26 restored antique dwellings form the peaceful heart of Amanyangun, at the centre of which stands Nan Shufang, the most spectacular antique dwelling in the collection. Named after the royal reading pavilion in the Forbidden City, Nan Shufang is located in a serene garden and curated as a space for contemplation, learning and discussion where guests can enjoy a number of cultural activities such as ancient calligraphy and Chinese tea ceremony. Amanyangyun’s thirteen of the antique dwellings, now four-bedroom Antique Villas with pools, together with 24 contemporary one-bedroom Club Suites make up the resort’s room inventory. Each villa and suite features fireplaces and courtyards, designed by Kerry Hill Architects – the team behind Aman’s recent openings in Japan. Amanyangyun is home to six dining venues, including all-day dining pavilion, Chinese Restaurant with seven private dining rooms, Club Lounge, informal Lakeside Café, Aman Deli Village Shop and a 200-seat banquet hall. The resort also features Aman Spa, with its idyllic setting devoted to holistic health, fitness and wellbeing, with two swimming pools, yoga and Pilates studio overlooking a reflection pond.

ALILA SOLO Spirit of Java

Alila Solo, which opened its doors in late 2015, is the city’s first luxury hotel of international standard. An urban retreat that’s both tradition-inspired and technology-driven, Alila Solo is poised to claim an iconic position in Surakarta’s skyline, offering culturally-rich encounters and resort-inspired facilities within a city oasis. Furthermore, the hotel sets a new benchmark as home to the city’s largest event space and unmatched rooftop bar, a lavish lifestyle venue to wine, dine and socialize.

106

Surakarta, or Solo, as it is better known, is the older of the two royal capitals of Central Java, considered the heart of the ancient Javanese kingdoms and cradle of Javanese culture. A city historically ruled by two palaces, it’s steeped in rich court arts, rituals and traditions. Today, Solo is one the fastest developing economic centres of Indonesia, combining the charm of a small city with the ambitions of a metropolis. The 255 rooms and suites – all with wonderful city views – meld modern style

with subtle Javanese nuances. High tech amenities are combined effortlessly with touches of Javanese spirit. Each room inspired relaxation with a soothing colour arrangement of gentle hues and showcases an exclusively commissioned batik mural. The interiors feature a refined stone palette of marble, travertine and granite juxtaposed against soft shades of pale wood and Javanese highlights. Most stunning of all is the monumental floating batik sculpture featured in the striking lobby. Conceptualised by Hendropurnomo, the near 50 meter long suspended artwork incorporates thin aluminium plates with canvas paintings depicting Javanese wayang characters. Weaving the authentic traditions of the ancient city with modern design, the lobby sets the tone for a distinctively stylish and unique stay.

Java aesthetics continue through the dining areas of the hotel. A popular choice when it comes to genuine Indonesian cuisine, Épice melds modern style with Javanese influences by incorporating timber and metal lattices adorned with traditional kawung patterns. Long tables of solid teak finish the look and offer diners a charming venue to enjoy local and pan-Asian specialties. Guests are also pampered with Sky Lounge’s distinguished design with the use of local batik prints. Located on the 29th floor, AGRA rooftop bar & lounge offers an exclusive evening rendezvous for evening drinks and late-night celebration against Solo’s city skyline. Open every night from 5.00pm until late, Agra serves up a delicious selection of eclectic tapas, perfect for sharing, alongside a wide array of creative cocktails, mocktails, wines and spirits.

THE GRAND World-Class Pianos Dealer

Founded by Max and Helen, The Grand prides itself in carrying only the finest handcrafted and customisable pianos, with exclusive rights to both Fazioli and Blüthner, respectively regarded as the luxury of the piano world. Their current Canadian location, Piano Vertu was founded in 2012 and in that time they have sold, delivered and serviced over 600 pianos to their clients, which include world-class pianists, composers and collectors. Together, Max and Helen bring an unblemished record of five-star service and exquisite aftercare, consistently enchanting customers with a high touch, sensuous experience. An experience aptly suited for the refined palates of Indonesia’s most avid collectors and discerning performers. The Blüthner family was richly influenced by the musical traditions of the city of Leipzig, at the heart of Europe, and was inspired by the entrepreneurial spirit present in Leipzig. Julius Blüthner then opened his piano factory, without knowing that he was about to establish such a highly successful empire. On the 18 November 1853, Julius started his pianoforte factory. His instruments were quickly recognized for their outstanding technical and musical qualities and were established in concert halls all over the world.

It is a rare and extraordinary for family business to maintain its excellence for more than a century, but Julius Blüthner achieved just that. The Julius Blüthner piano is named in his honour, a piece with unparalleled beauty of tone. The PH Grand by Blüthner is inspired by Danish design icons, made with German quality craftsmanship. PH Grand is the most exclusive piano on the market and brings style to any place and interior project, with highly customized genuine leather to your request. This defines how music looks, and what you see is what you hear. The sound is Blüthner quality, brilliant and crystal clear like the concept of the design itself. Poul Henningsen designed the PH Grand Piano in 1931, with only less than a hundred PH Pianos were made in Copenhagen. It was a total departure from the common perception of aesthetic piano design, and remains an outlier in the world of design cabinets to this day. True to the design ideal, “form follows function”, the transparent lid and desk lend an extraordinary and delicate visual impression while allowing the player to see his entire ensemble, wherever they might be placed. Queen Victoria piano is designed in the style of its name, of the 19th century, when Blüthner was purveyor to the Royal Court of the Queen. Executed in precious rosewood, enhanced with hand carved ornaments and applications

on top of powerfully styled legs and a finely etched music desk. The Fazioli Company has produced grand and concert grand pianos since 1981, when pianist and engineer Paolo Fazioli founded the company. Each instrument is individually handcrafted combining high quality materials with the finest workmanship and technology. The Fazioli factory is located in Sacile, 60 km/35 miles northeast of Venice in the northeastern part of Italy. The area is renowned for an ancient and prestigious tradition in woodworking. Fazioli Marco Polo is a manifestation of cooperation between the imagination and craft of Fazioli artisans and their valued customer’s personal history. Born of celebrating the historic connection between Venice and China, the hand-painted reproduction of Canaletto’s masterpiece represents the former while the bright red high-gloss varnish of the case represents the latter. Canaletto’s painting depicts the prisons of Venice as well as San Marco Basilica and the Campanile. The base of Fazioli Marco Polo is a crown jewel – a concert grand F308. The Epic proportions of the lid of F308 accommodate the floating gondolas as well as piazza San

Marco and the Palazzo Ducale. This hand-painted masterpiece, which took over a span of three years to finish, depicts the ancient Venice with the view that inspired Tchaikovsky, Byron and Titian. It is a particularly gratifying experience to perform or listen to the barcarolle (the song of a gondolier) on Fazioli Marco Polo. The rest of Marco Polo’s case is custom-blended saturated red in high-gloss polyester finish with ivory white keys. This model features and additional fourth pedal, which allows the pianist to reduce volume without modifying the timbre. In other words, in brings down the volume without affecting the color of the sound. Marco Polo is able to dazzle in the largest of concert halls as well as in the most spectacular private residences. The F308, another piece by Fazioli, is the absolute crown jewel of Fazioli’s Pianoforti. The brand’s longest concert grand piano is designed for modern large-capacity concert halls. Its immense power and harmonic richness derive from an increased string-length in the bass section, along with Fazioli’s fourth pedal feature. The F212 Malachite is embellished with fine inlays of natural and coloured exotic woods. Mother of pearl with the semiprecious stone Malachite gives birth to a complex design featuring arabesques. MONTBLANC A Journey to the Stars

Since the dawn of time, mankind has looked at the skies above in awe, yet only a handful of individuals have successfully unlocked the mysteries of the universe, pushing the boundaries of human knowledge. One of those brilliant minds was Johannes Kepler (1571- 1630), a formidable mathematician, astronomer and astrologer, who uncovered the laws of planetary motion, laying the foundations for the development of modern astronomy. In honour of a pioneer who inspired generations of scientists after him from Newton to Einstein, Montblanc presents the High Artistry Homage to Johannes Kepler Limited Edition. Created by the Montblanc Maison Artisan Atelier, each of these masterpieces illustrates Kepler’s extraordinary dedication in his search for the infinity. The Homage to Johannes Kepler High Pede Serpentari Limited Edition 39 draws inspiration from an illustration from his book De Stella Nova in Pede Serpentarii that indicated the location of the 1604 supernova on the foot of the Ophiucus constellation. Using Hand Engraving Overlacquering, a special technique used for the first time by Montblanc, intricate three-dimensional hand engravings beneath the lacquer depict the Ophiuchus and Sagittarius constellations that he studied in his De Stella Nova. The drafting compass used by Kepler inspired the distinctive design of the clip, which is adorned with a princess-cut sapphire.

The Homage to Johannes Kepler High Artistry Astronomia Nova Limited Edition 9 marks the year 1609 when Kepler first published Astronomia nova. Inspired by his model of orbits from his Mysterium Cosmographicum, a generous lapis lazuli shaped like a globe sits atop the cap encircled in a sculptural structure made of three rows of pavé diamonds. Engraved on the nib, a drawing of Sun from the Epitome Astronomiae Copernicanae is enhanced with a single diamond. Limited to just five pieces worldwide, the Homage to Johannes Kepler High Artistry Somnium Limited Edition 5 is a masterpiece of precision stone-setting

with hundreds of sapphires set together to capture the scintillating beauty of the Milky Way. The edition is also the very first writing instrument in the world equipped with an automatic watch movement inspired by Kepler’s drawings of the moon phases. The Homage to Johannes Kepler High Artistry Stella Nova Limited Edition 1 is one-of-a-kind with a price of €1.4 million. Its full pavé set cap and barrel shimmers with a multitude of blue sapphires set to emulate the Milky Way with its hues of blues, with a total of 570 diamonds and 5294 sapphires and crowned with an approximately 6,20 ct DIF Montblanc diamond.

Twice each year, a quest occurs, taking art collectors to embark on a worldwide journey where Sotheby’s Hong Kong five-day sale series is held in pursuit of the world’s finest rarities, ranging from Chinese ceramics and paintings, modern and contemporary art to jewellery, watches and wine. This April’s great find among other showstoppers is a blue-and-white lobed Xuande bowl which is one of the greatest examples of early Ming porcelain in private hands; important contemporary western art being offered in the Evening Sale for the first time; and the first single-owner auction of works by the ‘Father of Asian Photography’ Long Chin-San. Curiosity chasers will travel in time with wonders spanning millions of years, from a massive skull of a late Jurassic allosaurus to a gigantic 8th century head of a Bodhisattva. The five-day sale starts on 31 March and ends on 5 April 2017, and will take place in Hall 5 at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center. There will be Asia Travelling Exhibitions in three major cities including Jakarta (4-5 March), Singapore (11-12 March) and Taipei (18-19 March 2017). The first day of the sale will see the auctioning of a monumental collection From the Cellars of a Connoisseur, including three bottles of La Tâche 1978 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, 6 litres of La Tâche 1985 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti and one Magnum of Romanée Conti 1990 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti.
