egarded as omitted one of Indonesia’s finest high-end furniture companies, Saniharto is actually a family business founded by 4 brothers with large number of luxury hotels worldwide as their clients. Registry had the chance to interview, as the second-generation family, Merysia Enggalhardjo, Saniharto’s Director of Marketing & Sales. During the photo and interview session, we found a kind, beautiful, yet humble woman who shared her story about running family business, the company’s core values, being a woman in the furniture industry, and of course, balancing her role in Saniharto, a mother of 3 children, and a wife. The best thing about running family business is definitely the existing trust that was naturally developed between family members since they were young. The company was established by 4 brothers: Santoso, Yani, Harsono (Merysia’s father), and Winarto, hence the acronym “Saniharto”. “As the second generation, we had strong fundamentals to put family above since we have 4 role models, they’re not just brothers in name only since they’re actually close.,” she said. Saniharto always hold on to the company’s core value, Merysia put it as acronym HISPEED. “Holistic – we operate as a whole, not just as individual divisions, Invincible – we innovate and strive to be ahead of the pack, Smart – we work smart by being effective and efficient, Passionate – we are passionate to give the best products and best service, Energetic – we keep up high level of energy to meet vigorous demands of the industry, Enthusiastic – we are enthusiastic in serving our customers, and Dynamic – we evolve continuously to keep up with the ever-changing requests of the industry,” she explained. Merysia also added 3 more to the Saniharto’s core values, “Logical – we solve problems and find solutions logically, Hardworking – we work hard to meet the delivery schedule and Organized – we are detail-oriented and organized to capture all the customer’s needs and requests. We try to instill our core values to everyone in our family and company. It literally means everyone in all level, including our securities and drivers,” stated Merysia. However, running family business isn’t always a walk in the park. “Second generations have different mindset, way of working and opinion. That’s why we need to ensure to have open, periodic discussion between the first and second generation so we can express our opinions. It’s effective to facilitate our differences to reach Saniharto’s vision and mission,” said Merysia. In addition, they also got the help from professional consultant service to design family governance, in order to prevent future conflicts and to handle them fast and precisely.

Being a woman in furniture, we can’t help but wonder, do people treat Merysia differently? “Well, probably. Being a woman in the production floor or in the hospitality / residential projects still raise some eyebrows. However, I don’t want to think that way and just keep pushing”. The good part is, in the furniture industry these days, there are many strong women including interior designers, architects, even women from manufacturing facilities. “In fact, we’re working with women more than men, especially on international projects,” she said. On the other hand, Merysia believes women have certain advantage in the industry. “I envision the future of women’s role to be the same with men; doing various roles in production, sales, marketing, etc. I guess, the advantage of being a woman in the industry is that women in general feel more passionate toward beauty, and furniture is definitely beautiful objects with its own style and elegance. I think women can understand it better than men,” she explained. As a successful career woman, balancing career and motherhood would always be tough for Merysia. “This is THE real challenge to me still (laugh)! I went through great internal conflicts, like, ‘am I a good mom? Have I done the best as a mother? Do I spend enough time with my children?’ and many other similar questions. However, now I believe in the present moment, whether I’m working or being a mom to 3 beautiful kids: Kearell, Brielle, and Greyson, each minute matters, and I will try to do the best to enjoy the moment. They are the love of my life and they will always be my number one priority, including my hubby, Stefan. And of course, at the same time, I’m super passionate for the future of Saniharto!” For any modern women out there, Merysia has some messages for you. “Be confident and brave! Be who you are and position yourself in the area of your strength, no matter what! We are women, and without neglecting our nature, it doesn’t mean that we have to follow the rules made for us, it doesn’t mean that we have to worry or care too much on what other people think about us. Pretty much, just keep on learning, pushing, and be successful in area that fit us the most, be the best version of ourselves, and finally, be grateful in this beautiful journey called life!”

The Launch of Art-Wear Collection “With my Hands, I Set Your Dreams” As a response to the current volatile pandemic situation, Tulola launched its new collection called “With my Hands, I Set Your Dreams” through the digital and social platforms. The story of the collection which consists of 27 limited designs was told by Tulola’s Co-founder and Concept Creative, Happy Salma. Sometimes ago, she was preparing other works in a cultural association that she has built, Titimangsa. Happy was also concepting the musical monologue Inggit Garnasih, inspired by Ramadhan KH’s “I’ll Send to The Gate”; as usual, along the creative process, she shared her feelings and knowledge to Sri (Sri Luce Rusna, Founder and Creative Director Tulola). In parallel, they planned to design something based on the same story, but Happy left the interpretation to Sri. And a design was born from the event, as mentioned by Sri Luce Rusna, her inspiration for creative work most of the time is the result of the event and place where she has been. Months ago, Happy prepared her Inggit monologue, Sri found herself immersed in Inggit’s story as narrated in Happy’s voice. Somehow, the topic and quotes found their way into Sri’s work through physical manifestation through her design. That’s the nature of inspiration and collaboration. It took 3 weeks of working days (144 hours) for each item and 5 weeks of working days (240 hours) for the necklace.

Chiming Watches by Advanced Research Department A pioneering innovation for one of its most significant fields of competence chiming watches was presented by Patek Philippe. The horizon of its chiming watches has been extended by developing an entirely new all-mechanical sound amplifying system by the engineers at Patek Philippe “Advanced Research”. The Patek Philippe “Advanced Research” department, founded in 2005, has meanwhile been integrated in the Research & Development division and vested with the task of pursuing high-end research in the fields of new materials, technologies, and conceptual fundamentals intended to open
36
totally new perspectives in the domain of watchmaking. At the moment, the department presents an important technical milestone in a domain that relates to the superb competencies of the manufacture: the chiming watches, or, more precisely, the minute repeaters. Patek Philippe offers the largest portfolio of regularly produced models, as regards these grand complications. The pioneering technology is presented in the Ref. 5750 “Advanced Research” minute repeater, a special limited edition consisting of 15 watches cased in platinum and endowed with a unique dial design, crowned by four patents.
REGISTRY INDONESIA | TIMEPIECES
TIMEPIECES The engineers developed a system with a steel sound lever that is attached in the middle of the oscillating wafer to achieve sound transmission from the gongs of the minute repeater to the sapphire-glass oscillating wafer. The other end of this sound lever that resembles a tuning fork features a flexible attachment with a thickness of 0.08 mm. As the hammers strike the gongs, their oscillations are transmitted to the sound lever which in a first phase amplifies them and transmits them to the rigid oscillating wafer where they are further amplified. The angular motion of the oscillating wafer excites the air layers above and beneath the sapphire glass, producing a noticeably louder sound. The fortissimo module attached in the case back allows the sound to be heard at a six-fold larger distance. So, a classic minute repeater on the wrist, at a distance of 10 m, sounds as loud and clear as an amplified minute repeater at a distance of 60 m. The manufacture also leveraged its rich experience in the domain of chiming watches to create a reverberating sound that also pleases the ear; this requires considerable dexterity and acute hearing. Patek Philippe “Advanced Research” presents an innovation that will seduce all enthusiasts of minute repeaters and technical debuts with its unique fortissimo “ff” system for sound amplification and propagation. It opens up totally new horizons for chiming watches.

FRANCK MULLER
The Long Island, The Art Deco in Novecento Style The architecture of the Long Island™ pays tribute to the Art Deco movement in a new vision of the Novecento style. With its pure, rectangular curved shape, the Long Island is the very synthesis of early twentieth century artistic inspiration and has become a leading collection of Franck Muller. From the eye - catching relief numerals, to the elegant diamonds adoring the case to the flawless mother of pearl dial, the colored alligator straps, every single detail of the Long Island has been designed with care and attention to match the beauty of its owner. Spotted on the wrists of figures such as Arnold Schwarzenegger, Elton John, Cristiano Ronaldo, David Beckham, Kim Kardashian, Kanye West, Paris Hilton, Franck Muller is no stranger to the world of Swiss luxury watch.
38
Named after its founder, the history of the brand started when Franck graduated from Watchmaking School of Geneva (Ecole d’Horlogerie de Geneve) in the early 1980s. He’s close to independent watchmaker Svend Andersen, and Franck became responsible for handling watches from the collection of Patek Philippe. Most of the clientele were private individuals and museums. While he was working with complicated timepieces, he became passionate about their mechanism and began to think of building his own workshop. In the 1984, Franck designed his own tourbillon wristwatch. In the 1980s, only few watchmakers were capable of creating such complicated timepieces, among them Patek Philippe and Vacheron Constantin. Franck Muller’s private clients kept on growing and finally he opened The House of

The Rendez-Vous Star
Unpredictable, ephemeral, and mysterious, shooting stars are surely the most romantic and intriguing of all the celestial phenomena. Their light streaks across the night sky, appearing and disappearing in the blink of an eye. Even knowing that they are not stars but meteors – flashes of light created when rocky debris burns brightly on hitting Earth’s atmosphere – does nothing to diminish their magic. Visible only at certain times of the year and under the right conditions, these rare phenomena have fascinated mankind since the dawn of time – and now have inspired the watchmakers of Jaeger-LeCoultre. In 2022, the Rendez-Vous Star recreates this enchanting celestial phenomenon on the wrist, thanks to an entirely new mechanism conceived and developed within the Manufacture. Activated by the movement of the wrist, the shooting star appears on the dial at random moments – usually four to six times per hour – its unpredictability makes it even more special. The Rendez-Vous Star is offered in two enchanting variations: a white gold case with a dial-in subtle tones of silvery blue and a pink gold case with dial-in soft golden brown. Inspired by the magic of shooting stars, the artisans of JaegerLeCoultre’s Métiers Rares® (Rare Handcrafts™) atelier have harnessed their skills in new ways to depict the beauty and mystery of the night sky. Made of transparent sapphire glass, the uppermost of the dial’s three layers has been sprinkled with transferred stars and miniature handpainted (on both sides of the sapphire glass) with clouds and a crescent moon, which conceal the shooting star when it is inactive. Beneath this is a rotating circular disc of titanium with a cut-out of the shooting star. When activated, the disc spins, sending the star on its curving path across the upper dial. As it passes, the cut-out reveals the deepest layer of the dial. Defining the trajectory of the shooting star, a three-quarter circle of diamonds is set into the sapphire glass dial. The bezel is set with a circle of glittering diamonds that draw the eye towards the dial and, in keeping with the aesthetic codes of the RendezVous, the upper surfaces of the lugs, and the top of the crown is also diamond-set. To complete these watchmaking treasures, an alligator leather strap, matched to the dial color and given a glowing, pearlized finish, is fastened to the wrist by a folding buckle.

ALEXANDER MCQUEEN London Skies Alexander McQueen presented a film “Storm Chasing” for Spring/ Summer 2022 London Skies Womenwear Collection Launch. The movie was directed by Sophie Muller, in collaboration with Sarah Burton, the Creative Director: “I am interested in immersing myself in the environment in which we live and work, in London, and in the elements as we experience them each day. We moved from water – and the mud on the banks of the Thames – to the sky and the ever-changing, all-encompassing magnificence that represents.” “The artwork for the prints in this collection was shot from the rooftops of the studio where we are lucky enough to have the most incredible views of the city: from Saint Paul’s Cathedral to the London Eye. We watched the weather and captured the formation and colouration of clouds from daybreak to nightfall and documented changing patterns, from clear blue skies to more turbulent ones. That led me to storm chasing. I love the idea of the McQueen woman being a storm chaser, of the qualities of storm chasing uniting the passionately individual community of characters wearing the clothes. They inhabit the same universe and the clothes are inspired by and made for them.” “Storm chasing is not only about the beauty of the views but also a sense of mystery and excitement – about embracing the fact that we can’t ever be sure of what might happen next. To give up control and be directly in touch with the unpredictable is to be part of nature, to see and feel it at its most intense - to be at one with a world that is bigger and more powerful than we are.” – Sarah Burton

Spring/Summer 2022 Womenswear Presentation Riccardo Tisci, Burberry’s Chief Creative Officer explained their 2022’s spring/summer collection, “it really represents the freedom of our imaginations: how we dream to come alive. I wanted to move through a series of immersive spaces, each of them unique and unexpected in their sound, texture and experience. It’s that idea of flicking between the endless realities and fantasies we have at our fingertips each day. This is for my mother, Elmerinda, and to a journey full of new possibilities.” The iconic Burberry trench coat has been familiar with people all over the world, but this time it’s deconstructed and rebuilt in strong and

FASHION striking silhouettes that experiment and play with volume. Styles in a blend of classic Burberry gabardine and textural linen cotton are cropped at the back to reveal swimsuits animated with abstract prints. Through fluted and oversized sleeves on collarless and hooded shapes, plus capelets that are perforated or trimmed with leather, a sense of fluidity is brought to the trench and car coat. A kaleidoscope of geometric and experimental abstract prints – evoking the flowing forms of camouflage – and the ‘Universal Passport’ graphic adorn dresses and shirts, layered under printed sheer or mesh tops to create new harmonies of pattern. Geometric colour-block intarsia and prints on dresses and oversized sleeveless blazers. Though flowing cap-sleeved and halterneck gowns with thighhigh splits, freedom of movement is explored. With sweeping exaggerated fringing, frills and straps, and paired with juxtaposing oversized jackets, mini dresses are adorned. The Rhombi was also introduced, a new ellipse-shaped shoulder bag inspired by the abstract curved prints in the collection. The structured shape is sculpted to the body and features a lightly padded strap with an oversized clasp detail. Presented in a smooth leather in soft fawn and black, and in coated canvas in birch brown check. A style in cotton gabardine features signature double stitching, inspired by the iconic trench coat. Clutch iterations include black leather with ring-pierced details or metallic fringing, both with an oversized clasp handle. A cut-out Thomas Burberry Monogram in quilted nappa leather in black and soft fawn is also joining the style. Abstract shapes are layered in vivid tones or mirrored in monochrome. Tortoise shell and camouflage prints provide a complement. The ‘Universal Passport’ design is reconstructed and stretched. Neutral shades of soft fawn and Burberry beige with rich dark birch brown, warm walnut, black and white. Accents of bubble gum pink, plus yellow, orange and red in prints.

FENDI Women’s Ready To Wear Spring/Summer 2022
Joyous irreverence that has been historically FENDI was discovered by Kim Jones, alongside the empowered ease of his vision for its future for his Ready to Wear show that gives modern take on disco-age glamour, also spotlight on the diverse, yet powerful femininity that has become the core values of the brand. The logo that has become the starting point for a collection that is inspired by the artist’s liberated sensibility and Studio 54 surroundings, was hand-sketched by Antonio Lopez, the visionary fashion illustrator. “While I’ve been looking at Karl’s legacy at the house, I’ve also been looking around him, at his contemporaries – at who he was interested in,” explained Jones. “Lopez was a friend of Karl’s, and has always been someone who inspired me. He was forward thinking; inclusive; looked up to by everyone from Andy Warhol to Steven Meisel and David Hockney. I wanted to introduce him to a new generation.” The revival of the artist’s work has been possible because of the collaboration of The Estate and Archive of Antonio Lopez and Juan Ramos. His gestural brushstrokes appear in elegant abstraction across cream kaftans and silken shirting; figurative drawings which was translated into intarsia leathers, intricately engineered lace and shimmering jacquards His work and renowned savoir-foire of the house’s ateliers: a Baguette tapestry-woven into a rainbow; a Peekaboo altered into graphic artwork found home in FENDI’s iconic bags. Lilies adapted from Lopez’s illustrative motifs become enamel hair accessories; Plexiglass hoops and degrade metals offer a tropical touch imbued with decadence. Seventies spin is spotted on the FENDI First heel, wrapped in resin, along with shimmering leathers, saturated stripes, and The First bag’s bold attitude.

We’ve all been locked away for so long that I think that’s what we all need right now.” Jerry Hall, Tina Chow, Pat Cleveland, Bianca Jagger, Grace Jones are the spirit of the women who were often discovered by Lopez on the dancefloors. They’re all emitting high-octane energy, a new dimension, translated into Jones’ continued celebration of female determination. “My FENDI is multigenerational. It’s for all different kinds of women – anyone who wants to feel good about themselves,” said Jones. “The Lopez woman, and the FENDI woman, is empowered; she’s someone of her own making.”

VALENTINO RENDEZ-VOUS Change of Perspective Fashion is imagined in the studio and created in the Atelier, but it is on the street that it becomes alive and real, meeting the imperfection of existence, day after day, lit by the unique identity of the wearer. The Creative Director Pierpaolo Piccioli keeps resignifying the Valentino signs. In a tenacious quest for life and truth, which is essentially the urge to root a rich heritage in the present time, he meets, and not only symbolically, the street, with its varied and magmatic humanity.
50
REGISTRY INDONESIA | FASHION
FASHION The path is made evident in the physicality of movement: on the catwalk, fashion, worn by individuals, arrives after a tour and a detour through alleys and sidewalks. The inversion of meaning is all the more evident and powerful as the elements of the Valentino vocabulary are clearer. Some even come, as they are, from the archive: icons of the house re-edited with philological accuracy and labeled Valentino Archive to travel through space and time, encountering today’s physicality and ways of being. These garments undergoing a vigorous historical displacement - the animal print coat, the white dress worn by Marisa Berenson, the long floral dresses photographed by Chris von Wangenheim - are part of a stylistic weaving dominated by a quest for a new meaning. Tailoring is reinterpreted in the volumes and the vivid, acrylic colors; active-inspired pieces enhance the physicality and sensuality of the body, revealing it. Taffetas, a symbol of Couture, is washed, beaten, deprived of any preciousness to turn into jackets, anoraks, oversized shirts, Bermuda shorts, the play of additions enhanced by the contrasting colors. Denim, worn with precious white shirts that are decorated, inlaid with broderie anglaise, embroidered, is another tribute to the archive. The overblown floral prints are instinctively mixed, while embroideries move from eveningwear to outerwear. Reconnecting with the street, in the end, means touching the ground: wearing boots, or flat Valentino Garavani Roman Stud sandals, and a re-edition of the snake sandal. A single macro stud closes the cleanly-designed bags. In the journey through space and time, one thing appears clearly: it is personal identity that creates the aesthetic, and evolves it by fragmenting it.

Each story conveyed by the puppet master accentuates lifeexperiences which we all can relate and abide by. Growing up in a strong Javanese close-knit family, wayang delivers moral consciousness and thus I have placed myself to insert wayang in my contemporary paintings. Hence I can showcase my beautiful culture to the world and transcends all cultural differences as they have been warmly accepted by the international community. I have proven our Indonesian art through painting has a great potential and reception. We, female artist, are capable in being the bridge. Never back down to pursue your dreams, and never be deter to any negativity. My passionate in upscaling the definition of batik tulis material and kebaya into a collection of wearable elegance for the Indonesian women has enable me to be partner with strong women like Maria Rosario, Dewi Makes and Sasya Tranggono. Together we share the compassionate to support women in their quest in preserving culture and heritage in one lineage, as we need to pass on the baton through generations. Defining one’s heritage either through bloodline or simply being a proud Indonesian, is every single individual’s responsibility without having to be forced to do so. Through Narasi Wastra and Osario collection and as a wastra enthusiast, we invite Indonesian women to be proud of their cultural heritage as well persevering batik artistry which is now a rare profession among the younger generation. It may no longer exist if we don’t appreciate their meticulous in-depth designs.

MARIA ROSARIO “I have made my passionate into a promising business after being a professional for more than 35 year in the oil and gas industry which is a complete turn around journey. Creating my mules and clutches was not for fashion purpose, but a distinctive move to show that as women, we should not limit our abilities nor should we surpress our dreams. Through my brand, Osario, I learnt to believe in myself, love the work I build and be a role model to my two daughters to pursue their dreams. Through my business, my daughters and I empower each other and support whatever ventures we do. Hence such strong bond transcends among our family and friends. Like what Beatrix Santi and I have done by co-buliding Narasi Wastra. We both bring our own style of fashion and are lucky to share this passionate with other women who, not only appreciate our efforts but also accept our batik collection, clothing and foot wear line as their fashion preferences. We have made a special liaison among women to be creative, supportive and be fashionable, while at the same time preserving our nations treasure - batik and batik artisans. Women truly play a strong position to be creative, aware of their environment and foremost be versatile with their capabilities. Being an Indonesian woman, all those opportunities are given, we just need our compassionate and agility to pursue a worthwhile life for others.’’

URSULA THIJSSEN When Ursula Thijssen, encountered God almost 20 years ago, she found her God-given purpose in life: to love, and to serve others. As a devoted Christian, Ursula moved around the world, starting fellowships in her home wherever she and her family lived. From Brazil, to Argentina, Singapore, Hong Kong, to finally pioneering a church in Dubai, and Jakarta. Kartini’s inspiration hits differently to Indonesian women of all backgrounds. Ursula too, has her own interpretation of the activist’s story. She believes, if you’re a God fearing woman, no traditions, especially ones that don’t respect women, can stop you from growing. “Just look at Kartini, nothing held her down; she could read books, and educate herself. Never let traditions get in between you and your talent” Ursula advised. Ursula adds that the first woman prototype, is essentially better than their male counterpart. “Men please don’t be mad at me, but God didn’t make a new man aside from Adam, instead, He took Adam’s rib, and made a woman. So, sorry men, we’re the better prototype, that’s why we’re the helper!” she smiled confidently. Of course, that doesn’t come without consequence. “Women have to be able to suffer more, because as the helper, women should be the stronger one. I know, traditionally, women are considered weak. However, when you’re in a frail condition; that’s when God’s love grows perfectly in you. So I’m genuinely proud to be born a woman!”

SUZY HUTOMO With over 150 of The Body Shop’s Indonesia outlet all over the nation, Suzy Hutomo is considered as one of the most successful environmental activists. There many commercially successful people, but it does not appeal to Suzy. On the other hand, she’s very proud of The Body Shop’s mission which are all about social justice, sustainability, and saving the planet. To her, they have much more significance. Suzy is heavily was inspired by Kartini’s perspective about the utterly needed positive change. From the book ‘Out of Darkness Comes Light’, Suzy found out that Kartini is very pro change. “I guess that’s the spirit that we should hold on to dearly. If we’re celebrating Kartini Day by wearing kebaya, celebrating our culture, it’s fine by me, but there’s something missing. The question we need to ask ourselves is, how can we, as women, bring about positive change?” said the confident woman who’s also known as “Sustainable Suzy”. The Body Shop’s successful campaign to push House of Representative to pass sexual violence bill (RUU PKS) into law. “We’ve been fighting for almost 2 years along with other organizations and NGO partners, and I want to say thank you to The Body Shop’s customers, also 500.000 people who signed our petition. I guess, as Indonesian women, we need to think about this kind of change, it’s not impossible! You don’t have to be a leader in some NGOs, it’s about realizing there’s something you can do!” she encouraged.

ESTER KRISTIANI w. Ester Kristiani Wiryopranoto is probably the epitome of Indonesian women, graceful, soft-spoken, yet very determined. Ester also active in CSR programs for environment. And now, in the midst of her tight schedule, Ester spares the time to share her thoughts with Registry. According to Ester, modern Kartinis are independent women that continue to grow, without neglecting their nature as women. “Women always remember their families, become the pillar of the family, and support them with prayer. We also need to do give positive impact to environment and everything around us,” said the lady who’s currently involved in developing business with a jewellery company, Anugerah Metalindo Gemilang (AMG). To walk the talk, Ester gave some examples of giving positive impacts for people closest to her. “My contribution to my family is become a mother, an educator, also a friend for my children. RINA CIANG Rina Ciang, a woman entrepreneur with a warm, friendly smile, has a strong conviction about the power of women, “I believe modern Kartinis are as good, if not better than men.” However, no matter how great your career is, as a woman, she firmly believes that women have to always hold their husbands in high regard. “As a matter of fact, they will always be our boss at home!” she laughed gracefully. Rina’s message to the younger generation might sound similar to her advice to her children. “Always be optimistic, be responsible for yourself, and please keep on loving Indonesia, I believe the next generations are smart people, and they will be the pillars of this country,” said the owner of PT. Bengawan Karya Sakti. For society, Rina admitted that she loves doing many things within her capabilities through her community: Benteng Kasih which holds regular charity events such as celebrating Christmas and breakfasting with orphans, Chinese New Year events with senior citizens, and many others. “Actually, there’s so much I hadn’t done, but we try to hold a social activity or charity every month,” she said humbly. As a firm believer in equality, Rina has her way to fight discrimination and prejudice. “Love comes from the heart, I want to bring people together to see that there’s no difference among us. After all, we’re responsible not just to humans, but also to God,” Rina declared as she smiled. Jewellery by Agnes’ Jewelry

AGNES SUTANTO Chances are, without Kartini, most women wouldn’t have as much privilege as we have today; to be able to choose dream jobs and pursue their passion. Nevertheless, according to Agnes Sutanto, nothing can replace a woman’s role as a mother, “a wise mother will raise well-mannered children who will, in turn, build our country. When my kids were little, I run my business while simultaneously taking care and educating them, because I acknowledge the significance of golden age for children’s growth.” In the midst of globalization, Asian culture might be considered as obsolete to many, especially when you sent your children to study abroad. However, there are some values that we still need to hold on to, “such as politeness, manners that we couldn’t find in western culture. And that, is our job as mothers!” said the owner of Agnes Jewelry. Despite all the accomplishments she has today, Agnes never forgets where she came from. In that regard, she has a noteworthy message to all Indonesian women. “Any big businesses start small, so never be disheartened! When you’re starting, especially in the service industry, you need some certain attributes such as honesty, sincerity, focus, and being innovative.” Being an Indonesian, also jewelry designer, Agnes highly appreciates the local, traditional culture. “I really adore Indonesian traditional clothing, they’re very artistic. We need to appreciate local products, especially the handmade ones, by frequently wearing them to inspire the next generation. When you create something modern, innovative design, I believe it will spark the curiosity and interest of the youths!” she stated.

ROLLS-ROYCE PHANTOM ORCHID An Inspirational Symbol of Our Times
‘One of one’ Phantom Orchid, specifically designed for Singapore was unveiled by Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Singapore, created by the marque’s Bespoke Collective at Goodwood in collaboration with artist Helen Amy Murray. The orchid was selected for the sake of an inspirational theme for resilience, beauty and strength, in addition to the fact that the flower is the most coveted ornamental plant that is elegant, exotic, graceful yet hardy. It took the combined talent of the Bespoke Collective at the Home of Rolls-Royce 2 years to create a masterpiece of this stature. “Phantom Extended, our pinnacle motor car, was chosen to be the ‘blank canvas’ for this commission,” said Michael Bryden, Lead Designer, Rolls-Royce Bespoke. “Our concept envisaged a balanced yet progressive design, which echoes the values of the Singapore region. The orchid is seen in many facets of Asian life, a reminder that the resilient adapt and thrive regardless of the evolving environment. Phantom is the only motor car in the world to feature the Gallery, a space that enables one to exhibit art, sculptures, or objects of self-expression in the sanctuary of Phantom’s interior,” Michael explained.
81
REGISTRY INDONESIA | AUTOMOTIVE
“It draws parallels with the Singapore I know; a thoroughly modern garden city merging nature and technology effortlessly in its make-up,” says Bryden, who has not only spent time in Singapore but designed the now famous, ‘one of one’ ‘SG50 Bespoke Ghost’, created to celebrate the country’s 50th Anniversary. Crafting a Rolls-Royce is a process that requires time and passion — but with a result that more than justifies the wait, just as it takes patience, time and dedication to grow an orchid.
Helen Amy Murray and her team undertook the pioneering bespoke work with Phantom’s Gallery. Helen was heavily inspired by several kinds of orchids, including the Singapore Orchid, spending over 200 hours relentlessly refining her design and artwork with a team of six. “I started by focusing on the actual orchids, which promptly led me to realise that colour was key to capturing the essence of the species. I have created artworks featuring orchids in the past, but my idea for the Gallery was to create something in realistic full colour, which pushed us to refine our digital printing skills,” explains the UKbased artist and textile designer Helen Amy Murray. Rolls-Royce Bespoke Designer, Yohan Benchetrit is responsible for the interior. He applied his talent to the Bespoke orchid-inspired Picnic Table Inlays in the rear of the suite which, when opened, gracefully reveal a beautiful layer of orchids set into Piano Black veneer. Elegant, natural colours which provide a soothing ambience akin to an Orchid Sanctuary furnished the interior suite. For the base colour, Arctic White was chosen, along with a tint of violet, inspired by orchids. Combined with fine glass particles through a special process, the result is a stunning pearlescent appearance. The paint technology creates a shimmering effect like no other, changing as an observer views the motor car from different angles, especially under bright light.

Quality control is performed repeatedly throughout the many steps of production: mill, assembly, and finish. IMOLA
Tiles Full of Life Imola introduced its collections: Aesthetica, Attitude, Azuma Up, Gea and The Room. In Aesthetica, the classic elegance of marble finds a new look that stands out by enhancing seemingly common reference models with unprecedented and highly innovative shades and graphics. This restyled classicism combines traditional white, beige, grey and black backgrounds with fascinating and surprising blasts of surface colour to create unusual, high impact effects. For Aesthetica, LaFaenza interprets four basic models of marble, all from Italy. Attitude is the perfect combination of technique and beauty, presenting itself as an “industrial technological stone”. A deep, intense ceramic surface, created by overlapping an endless number of amalgamated chips that differ in size and colour. A new technology that permits us to arrange the chips or grains in a casually perfect fashion on the surface, both in terms of size mix and colour Azuma Up is all about empathy, heat, and color. Minimalism remains an essential language, but it acquires shades of vitality and empathy that rise from surfaces and reverberate in spaces. Spaces in which the distinctive element continues to be quality, rather than quantity, but Gea

where simplification no longer appears as austere precision and cold abstraction. Azuma Up is rooted in the success of Azuma; 5 new colours in warm, cosy shades. 6 formats offering maximum freedom of composition The magnetic elegance exercised by the Goddess of Earth, Gea primordial goddess of Greek mythology, combines with the Brand’s unmistakeable stylistic matrix. The natural style is back in its most balanced, discreet spirit, to create welcoming rooms. A unique concept made up of three firm guidelines: maximum realism and adherence with the typical graphic signs of stone; outlined minimalism, to bring a softer connotation to the surface; a chromatic palette that is deliberately warm and welcoming, designed around beige and grey colours. A dialogue of ongoing research that finds a new ceramic proposal in Gea with a sophisticated rustic feature.
The Room
Emotional, refined, contemporary, timeless, charming, protagonist, source of inspiration, graphic impact ... in a word, The Room. The Room describes the expressive opulence of a selection of quality marbles, interpreted in a welcoming, modern language. The origins of the limestone onyx go way back in history: it is the “marmor alabastrum” of the Latins where alabastrum derives from a fortress known as “Alabastra” built in Thebes in Egypt and where there were a number of quarries used to build the temples. Oky Rey Montha - Can’s Gallery
Mr. Maulana Indraguna Sutowo, CEO of MRA Group explained “Art Jakarta Gardens is the realization of our commitment to rebuilding the cooperative enthusiasm, which has always been the main driver of the art ecosystem in Indonesia. Hopefully, this event can signal the re-opening of the social space that was closed, through the appreciation and enjoyment of artworks.” Iwan K. Lukminto, the Founder of Tumurun Museum, remarked “Tumurun Museum proudly supports Art Jakarta that never ceased to innovate and be creative in staging art events. With the same vision and mission to promote Indonesia’s contemporary art on a global level, we regard Art Jakarta as the most important art event in Indonesia.” The fresh and innovative concept encapsulated in this event is achieved by the combination of presenting artworks both indoors and outdoors. Enin Supriyanto, Artistic Director of Art Jakarta, explained that “an open space exhibition can accommodate more sculptures or other three dimensional artworks. Usually, indoor exhibitions generally focus largely on paintings or “dwimatra” works.” Iwan Suastika

The innovation presented by Art Jakarta itself received a positive response from the Deputy Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy / Deputy Head of the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency, Angela Tanoesoedibjo. “This year, in a better situation, I’m delighted that Art Jakarta Gardens 2022 can be held in an offline setting and even better, using a semi-outdoor concept which is good for the air circulation. Moreover, it is hosted in Hutan Kota by Plataran which has a large open space. We all also hope this art fair will improve the public’s appreciation of artworks and can also attract tourists especially contemporary art lovers to visit Jakarta,” said Angela. The collaboration between Art Jakarta and Plataran Indonesia is also fully supported by Yozua Makes, the Founder and CEO of Plataran Indonesia: “Plataran embodies the spirit of collaboration, working alongside various parties towards the advancement of Indonesia in the fields of Nature-Culture Community; this is part of Plataran’s DNA, as the True Indonesian Icon of Ecotourism.”

GODOD SUTEJO Umbul Donga Kagem Bangsa “Guyup Rukun Ayem Tentrem Negarane” Godod Sutejo created his painting Umbul Donga Kagem Bangsa “Guyup Rukun Ayem Tentrem Negarane” on his 15th solo exhibition. The event was opened by GKR (Gusti Kanjeng Raden) Mangkubumi, Hamengkubuwono X’s daughter, in Posnya Seni Godod Art Gallery, Yogyakarta, 2019. More than 50 paintings were exhibited, and according to Godod, they emphasized the feeling of emptiness, the result of contemplation, covered in prayer. The paintings were also considered an attempt to absorb the tension from political tension in Indonesia so people could reclaim their old, harmonious life back, or in the Javanese term “ayem tentrem”. The event was also attended by art critics, artists, monks from various Indonesian monasteries, also people from all social statuses. They came to pray together for Indonesia, to commemorate the 40th day of Ki Gondo Shri Garba, and celebrate The National Awakening Day simultaneously. Through the exhibition, Godod conveyed a clear message: to inspire all elements of the communities to live in peace and harmony to build the nation after the political hustle and bustle. All of the paintings might reveal different colors, however, when you put them together, they will become a beautiful and meaningful art pieces. To describe Godod’s painting style, Kusnadi, and the art critic tried to explain, “in the 20th century, we have gone through countless painting styles as depicted by many artists. How about Godod Sutejo’s style? It’s all about lines – an elementary, eastern impression, with the painting’s 2-dimensional nature and composition that focuses on line and flat coloring. The next character would be the story itself. Godod Sutejo focuses on life in the rural or urban village with a range of scope, not limited to earth and sky.”
