Caroline Scheufele re-works one of the most classic of jewellery expressions. The cluster design can be traced back to the 14th century, originating perhaps in medieval ringbrooches worn to fasten cloaks or tunics, and developing into huge, elaborate gem-smothered circles. The cluster blossomed in the 17th and 18th centuries as a stylised interpretation of the flower – the earliest of adornments – at a time when diamonds, newly discovered in Brazil during the 1720s, were becoming more available and desirable to a new and wealthy merchant class. Through the 19th century, the fashionable cluster took the form of a single and usually important coloured stone, encircled by diamonds, acquiring an air of majesty and splendour, as it took pride of place in the jewel boxes of royalty and nobility.

Thanks to this pair of matched hairsprings, the movement of the point of gravity on each spring when it expands is corrected, significantly improving accuracy and

This show captures the breadth of what British culture represents today as well as defining the visual language and lexicon for Burberry through new house codes and accessories. “I was thinking a lot about journeys as I started putting together my first Burberry collection. From my personal journey back to London 20 years after I showed my graduate collection here, to how far I have come. I was also inspired by how much London – the city that made me dream to become a designer - has evolved. This show is a celebration of the cultures, the traditions and the codes of this historic fashion house and of the eclecticism that makes up the beautifully diverse United Kingdom,” said Riccardo Tisci, Burberry Chief Creative Officer. Called “Kingdom”, Riccardo Tisci’s debut collection for Burberry celebrates the diversity and the heart of England: the melting pot of creativity and style traditions from the punk and rebellious, to the formal and refined, all co-existing together. Presented in three parts – refined, relaxed and evening – the collection was revealed at a new show venue in London’s Vauxhall, at 5PM on 17th September 2018. Refined represents the formal and refined, defining the more sartorial house codes reimagined through a modern contemporary lens. For women: trench coats and car coats with cinched waists, pleated skirts, pencil skirts and pussybow blouses. For men: new sharp Burberry tailoring block designed and developed by Riccardo – ‘English fit’ – in single and double-breasted suiting styles and in new fabrications.

Humberto Leon and Carol Lim , Creative Directors for Kenzo, come up with colourful blends mixing DNA from sportswear with tailoring – a style Kenzo made famous in the 70’s and 80’s. Pieces ranged from oversized shirts and pyjama-like blazers to leather jackets and extended-sleeve knits, using Day-Glo as enhancer. The style is laid back and is more comfort than sporty at times although done so expertly that it’s difficult to tell them apart. Throughout time at Kenzo, it’s always been the prerogative to bring together the varying tribes and subcultures coming across daily. Today this is no exception. For the spring-summer 2019 collections for men and women, come and celebrate summer ceremonies, gatherings of all sorts and the jubilation of rituals. Occasions where new-romantic hedonists meet British wedding goers and all the in-betweens. A smorgasbord of fashionistas and their manna. fork at the front and an adjustable shock absorber at the rear. The Monster 821 comes in three different colours: Ducati Red, Black and the classic Ducati Yellow. The 821 has been redesigned to create a sleek, compact bike with true sporting character, to get back to the “sport naked bike” concept but without making drastic changes to the lines of the existing motorcycle. The tank, now “lighter” and more modern is a fully overhauled design that nevertheless remains faithful to the first ever Monster from the year 1992. The classic anodized aluminium attachment clip is also back. The short, compact, sleek tail, supported by the steel Trellis subframe, lets riders set a seat height of 785 or 810 mm and supports the passenger footpegs. This configuration gives the Monster 821 a sporting line while improving ergonomics. Another signature component on the 821 is the round headlight, high-tech yet iconic and, like the tank, identical to the one on the Monster 1200.

GENTA SRIWIJAYA Wonders of the Sriwijaya Kingdom
Among the great maritime trading empires of history, the Kingdom of Sriwijaya, based on the Indonesian island of Sumatra, ranks among the wealthiest and most splendid. The Sriwijaya Empire was strong as a maritime and commercial kingdom in the Malay Archipelago. The expansion of the Kingdom began and continued from the 7th to the 13th century. Originally, it began from Palembang of Sumatra and eventually expanded and took control of the surrounding area near the Straits of Malacca. Controlling the Straits of Malacca and the Sunda Strait gave Sriwijaya control of the spice trade. Because of its smart relationships with major trading countries and its way of controlling the only shortcuts around the Malay Archipelago, Sriwijaya dominated the area in terms of wealth and power. The power of the kingdom came mostly from its trade (states of the archipelago, China, and India). Other than the center of trade, Sriwijaya was also the religious center of South-East Asia at that time. The Sriwijaya kingdom achieved commercial dominance as a maritime power because the mouth of the river Musi was rich with silt and therefore very fertile for the cultivation of crops, including rice. The ancient Malay polity was a coastal power that controlled the Malacca Straits as well as the Sunda Straits, from the late seventh century to the 12th century, though the kingdom might have been in

existence since the third century. The straits were busy routes as ships often passed through them as they traveled between China and India. Among the many ports in the area, Sriwijaya was the most powerful. It ruled over the coasts of the Malay Peninsula, Sumatra, western Kalimantan, western Java, and the Isthmus of Kra. Sriwijaya was mainly a maritime power; its control did not extend to territories far inland. Because of its widespread dominion, Sriwijaya, together with its rival, the kingdom of Jambi, was able to spread Malay culture throughout the Malay Archipelago in the Malay Peninsula, Java, Sumatra, and Borneo. Sriwijaya consisted of three main zones—the estuarine region of the capital city Palembang, the hinterland formed by the Musi River basin that maintained a relative amount of independence but with loyal pledges to the Sriwijaya ruler, and former rival estuarine zones. The history, culture and tradition of the Sriwijaya kingdom is brought to life by Sekar Ayu Jiwanta, a foundation that was established with the aim of preserving and preserving the culture of the Indonesian nation through art. By enacting a play eponymously titled “Genta Sriwijaya�, the Sekar Ayu Jiwanta Foundation is taking on the reins in being the leading organization today responsible for the preservation and celebration of the glories of yesteryear, more specifically that of the Sriwijaya Kingdom. This is done so by re-enacting the past glory of the Sriwijaya kingdom through art where performances, a combination of dance, music, theater, comedy, combined with stage, lighting and multimedia games that show stories of Indonesian history that can be enjoyed by all levels of Indonesian society. The synopsis of the play Genta Sriwijaya is simple yet meaningful. It tells the story of the Srivijaya unity which was then led by King Dapuntat Hyang Sri Jayanasa who ruled between the period 671 AD and 702 AD.

In order to realize his ideals to make Srivijaya a large, stately and strong embassy, the Depunta King Hyang carried out a sacred journey ‘ngalap berkah’, ‘to conquer the surrounding areas, and obtain spiritual power. An historic journey which eventually made the Srivijaya Kingdom a large embassy in the region having a high spiritual and religious civilization, a strong fleet, and a strong economy. In the course of the blessing, a romantic love story is interwoven between Prince Darmapala (Prabu Dapunta Hyang’s son) and Princess Tritaradewi (son of Prabu Rajendrawamsa) the King of the Malay Kingdom. The conquest of the Kingdom of Malays to the Kingdom of Srivijaya was followed by the submission
of the heart of Princess Tritaradewi who finally accepted Prince Darmapala’s proposal. A big festive party was held which was attended by all kings of the kingdoms within the territory of the Kingdom of Sriwijaya. Through this performance, the Sekar Ayu Jiwanta Foundation hopes that Indonesians will recall the history of the nation’s journey, to become an even greater nation than what it is today. This process no doubt takes a great degree of struggle, sacrifice and requires a relentless pursuit and unyielding spirit. Qualities which the Sekar Ayu Jiwanta Foundation no doubt has in abundance. Nonetheless, the message from both the play and the Sekar Ayu Jiwanta Foundation is that this sacrifice needs to be borne both by the people of the

Sidik Martowidjojo (Ma Yong Qiang), 82, a world renowned Indonesian painter who lives in Yogyakarta chose the perfect moment to re-introduce his outstanding talents to a broader audience globally where his paintings were displayed at the Carrousel Du Louvre, in Paris, France from the 13th to the 16th of December 2018. With a theme titled Song of Silent Sunrise, Sidik Martowidjojo exhibited around 15 of his latest works at the Carrousel Du Louvre. He first introduced his spectacular array of artistic talent to the French audience back in 2013, and his second exhibition in 2014, saw him receive two awards, namely the Medaille d’Orc Pienture for his landscape work and the Medaille d ‘Orc (general champion). Momentously, these two gold medals were the first to be awarded since the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts (SNBA) was a society consisting of two groups of French artists, the first for some exhibitions in the early 1860s, the second since 1890 for annual exhibitions. At the most recent SNBA exhibition in 2018, Sidik was awarded the prestigious “Prix Special du Jury”, which as the name suggests is a special prize awarded after deliberation by members of the panel. The Indonesian Museum of Records, (MURI) has listed Sidik Martowidjojo as the only Indonesian painter who has had his paintings exhibited in the Carrousel du Louvre.

One of the honorable dignitaries who took part in opening the exhibition was the Indonesian Ambassador to France, His Excellency, Lt. Gen. TNI (ret.) Hotmangaradja M. P. Pandjaitan. Sidik. W. Martowidjojo become passionate about painting as a child. He is interested in a wide range of subjects across eastern and western cultures, including calligraphy, literature, history, and philosophy. While absorbing the essences of their respective achievements, he has blazed new trails in artistic creation conceptually and tangibly. Amongst his signature techniques for painting has been making use of shien tze paper – which is said to last for thousands of years without the need for restoration. Sidik Martowidjojo has also been known to have successfully fused both western and eastern philosophy through brush stroke techniques, and also the ability to mix various colors in one brush and scratch without repeating. As of today, Sidik has held more than twenty solo and joint exhibitions, including in the Millennium Gallery, Beijing, CAVA Gallery, Beijing, and at the Beijing National Art Museum of China (NAMoC). His paintings can now be enjoyed and viewed by the general public at the Sidik W. Museum Martowidjojo which is located on Jalan Magon Kulon Number 1. Bale Raos Complex – Keraton Yogyakarta. PURI ART GALLERY Beautiful Balinese Landscapes Born in the village of Kapal, at Mengwi in Bali in 1968, the youthful Galuh learnt painting from her honourable father. Her uncle, Ngurah KK, was known as one of the members of the Young Artists of 1960 in Penestanan, Ubud. Galuh also actively joined as a member of the Seniwati Gallery and Iswali (Bali Female Artist Association) from 1991. Galuh saw light as an absolute magical medium, one of the precious gifts from God, and she tries to portray this magic onto her canvas. “With the absence of light, there will be nothing to see. When there is nothing to see, the will be no painting. With no painting means no light depicted.” - I Gusti Agung Galuh . Galuh portrays the power of light through her scenery and landscape paintings, absorbing it, reflecting it, blurring it, and embracing it with the numerous elements like land, stone, wood, leaves, water, sky, and many others that Nature provides so lovingly. There is no doubt that light becomes

the soul, the main character that lives like no other element in her paintings. As depicted in the painting “Kampung”, she elaborates on the harmony of village life in Bali. She is clearly depicting the people living in the village, accentuating on a man looking after his flock of ducks. At the same time there is a girl who brings offerings for the temple. And last but not least, is the famous “subak” or commonly known as the famous terraced irrigation system in Bali. Other examples of her work can be found in the painting depicting the making of Penjor, going to the fields, playing with kites and many others. The main theme shows village life in Bali. As a Balinese artist, who is known to have a very close relationship with nature, the unity of the light and the village landscape become a symbol of gratitude imprinted on canvas by the artist. The use of techniques such as perspective with the fog-haze, reflections of light and smooth colors distinguish her artworks from the other painters. I Gusti Agung Galuh is a dedicated, disciplined
