our disquieted skies — Have we eyes for Love come into our midst — with features unlike our own and a language unfamiliar to our ears and parents poor, transient, and so reliant on the world, on us, for hearth, help, home, and hands to hold the child while bread is baked? Have we eyes enough unshielded to see what God has crafted in the depths of the Divine Heart, a gift for all earth still wondering if it is always to be blind.
Poem by Ken Phillips, Assistant to the Vice President for Mission and Art
The old question hangs still in
May this Christmas open our eyes and hearts to all that is within our midst—children in need, people cast out, travelers un-homed and the chance to encounter the Christ new-born. May you be deeply blessed this extraordinary holiday season.
