The Regis REview
Connecting Ranger Faculty to the Division of Student Life
September Issue
Family weekend Regis will welcome back parents and extended family Sept. 26-29 to experience the traditions and activities that involve their students. Family members can choose from several activities. Faculty members are invited to take part in the fun, too. Here’s a sampling of what is planned: - You’ll have a great opportunity to meet parents on Friday, Sept. 27. Parents are encouraged to attend class with their students and to learn more about academics at Regis. Be prepared to answer questions, foster conversation and make this a meaningful weekend for both parents and students. - Join students and their families in the stands to
cheer on our soccer and volleyball teams throughout the weekend. You’re also invited to the tailgate party Friday, Sept. 27, when the men’s soccer team takes on Adams State University. - As a University committed to service, we offer an opportunity to experience serving the community with our current president, Father John Fitzgibbons, S.J. Whether you are painting walls at an inner-city school or packing sack lunches for the homeless, everything we do to give back to our community makes a difference. Disability Services
Meet the staff
Student Disability Services (formerly known as the Office of Disability Services) provides students with accommodations related to their physical, emotional or cognitive needs. Student Disability Services (SDS) is now part of The Learning Commons, which is located on the second floor of Clarke Hall. If a student has one or more disabilities outlined by the Americans with Disabilities Act, he/she can register for accommodations each term through SDS. There is no need to go to each professor and department. SDS takes care of requests made by faculty, and will work with students to achieve their educational goals while at Regis.
Disability Services Organizations SDS is a member of the Association on Higher Education and Disability, National Association of Student Personnel Administrators and the Colorado/Wyoming Consortium of Disability Providers.
Dr. Joie Williams is the director of SDS. She is responsible for staying up-to-date on disability law, giving students the best and most accurate accommodation possible. Joie is also taking proactive steps on campus to try to erase disability discrimination by leading SDS in organizing various events throughout the year. Melissa Glorioso is the disability services specialist in SDS. She uses her social work background to help inform students of their rights, as well as discern between disability or non-disability cases. Melissa also makes proper referrals to other departments in the University. Kimberly Reedy keeps the office on track by meeting with students and taking care of faculty and staff needs. She keeps Melissa and Joie informed when issues and opportunities arise with students, faculty and staff.
