Strong Curriculum® builds stronger churches through teaching all Scripture to produce spiritually mature believers who measure up to the stature of Christ. Spiritual maturity isn’t an abstract, unmeasurable idea. In fact, measuring spiritual growth is a Biblical concept. Ephesians 4:13 instructs us to grow spiritually into “the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.” The measuring stick is Christlikeness. Strong Curriculum follows the seven teaching aims leading to Christlikeness and uses the robust measuring tools laid out in Strong Church: Building and Measuring Mature Disciples. Successful businesses today have means of measuring the growth of their products and their companies overall. We can do no less in our most important “business” of helping students reach “the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.” Product images in this preview guide are for illustration purposes only and may not be final.

A Plan You Can Trust
Smooth Transitions
Regular Baptist Press firmly believes God’s Word is living and powerful and more effective than any idea or philosophy man could ever dream up. The Bible is Spirit empowered, so it cannot fail to strengthen kids who interact with its truths. Believing this, we purposefully built Strong Kids on Bible bedrock. We know the curriculum’s solid Biblical foundation will make it transformational. Coming up with a comprehensive plan to teach the Bible systematically and completely is not easy. We did the heavy lifting to build the plan so you can use it to focus on communicating God’s Word and strengthening the kids under your care. The Strong Kids comprehensive curriculum plan means you can share God’s Word with confidence. We built the Strong Kids scope and sequence on the seven teaching aims Jesus had during His earthly ministry. Identifying Jesus’ aims helps you teach the Bible with purpose and clear goals in sight. Every lesson in the Strong Kids scope and sequence addresses at least one of Jesus’ teaching aims.
Whole-Bible Emphasis Each Strong Kids age group has a special emphasis that contributes to the overall purpose of spiritually strengthening kids. Why? First, there are far too many crucial lessons in the Bible to have all five children’s age groups covering the same Bible passage on the same Sunday. Too many of those important lessons would be left untaught. Second, the age groups’ needs are too varied to force them to cover the exact same scope and sequence every curriculum cycle.
Strong Kids for pre-primary, primary, middler, and junior age groups all track along a similar chronological path through the Bible. By design, all four age groups end year 1 with Judges and year 2 with Revelation. This provides continuity as the students move from one age group to the next, and gives them four opportunities to work through the Bible over an eight-year span.
Growth You Can Measure How do you know if Strong Kids curriculum is working? You measure your students against the Bible’s standard for spiritual maturity. Strong Kids provides measuring tools that point out your kids’ areas of strengths and weaknesses. The curriculum also gives supplemental ideas for reinforcing the seven teaching aims so you can strengthen areas of weakness. The measuring tools make spirituality practical. They describe what it looks likes to live out Christ’s seven aims. The measuring tools provide a natural connection between the classroom and the home. Parents understand the changes and growth they should be seeing and encouraging in their children’s lives.
Results That Last Forever Heaven is an important emphasis in Strong Kids curriculum. The pre-primary through junior age groups learn how the decisions they make today will affect them for eternity. The curriculum directs them to live in light of eternity by living for God rather than for themselves. It gives their lives meaning now so they might count for something in eternity. In eternity, all believers will want nothing more than to glorify God. How kids live now will determine their capacity to glorify God forever in Heaven.

Each lesson contains one or more of these icons along with some measuring sticks to help you teach effectively and achieve measurable results. JESUS’ TEACHING AIMS Believe the gospel.
Jesus taught His students to understand, believe, and then share the gospel. This aim is obviously fundamental to all the rest.
Understand Biblical ethics.
Jesus instructed His students to live according to moral values. These values provided them with the tools to make wise decisions.
Internalize godliness.
Jesus taught His followers to be godly on the inside. He warned them not to become like Pharisees, with a mere outward appearance of godliness.
Learn doctrine.
Jesus knew the importance of teaching His students the truth and identified doctrine as one of the means for spiritual growth. Wishy-washy doctrine leads to faulty practice.
Develop life skills.
Jesus taught His followers to meet life’s challenges in a way that honored and glorified God. He gave them the skills to navigate those challenges successfully.
Uplift others.
Jesus’ life was all about others. Leading by example, He taught His followers to be all about others too.
Prepare to serve.
Jesus prepared His followers to serve in the context of local churches that were established soon after His ascension. He emphasized sacrifice and dedication. 6
5 STEPS TO BUILDING STRONG KIDS® Strong Kids provides each age group with a twoyear, age-appropriate plan to prepare kids to successfully take the next step in their spiritual growth. Step 1—Ages 2 & 3 Strong Kids for 2s & 3s teaches Biblical truth concerning God, God’s Son, God’s Word, and God’s world. Students learn that God is their creator and that He loves and helps them. They begin to understand what sin is and that Jesus came to earth as a baby and then grew up and died for them. Step 2—Ages 4 & 5; 6-year-olds in Kindergarten Strong Kids for Pre-Primaries reinforces foundational Biblical truths concerning Creation, Jesus, salvation, and living for God. Recognizing that pre-primaries are starting to understand the need for personal salvation, this curriculum provides opportunities for students to trust in Christ as their Savior and begin to live for Him. Step 3—Grades 1 & 2 Strong Kids for Primaries tracks through the Bible chronologically but breaks at times to provide students with a deep understanding of Jesus and His part in God’s plan to save the world. Students grasp Who Jesus is, what He is like, and why He came to earth. Step 4—Grades 3 & 4 Strong Kids for Middlers teaches students the Bible timeline from Genesis to Revelation. Students understand how God’s plan unfolded in the past, what His plan is for today, and how His plan will unfold in the future. They’ll gain confidence by knowing how they fit into God’s plan. Step 5—Grades 5 & 6 Strong Kids for Juniors goes deeper to ground students in their faith and prepare them for their teen years. The overall track is through the Bible, but with different emphases than in the primary and middler age groups. For instance, students spend more time on the Ten Commandments, Solomon’s wisdom in Proverbs, and end-time events from Revelation. 7

Gather • Copies of resource 42-R23 (test) from resource CD #1242. • Pencils.
God was commanding a human sacrifice for sin. To us it is incomprehensible, but there is no account of Abraham complaining or questioning God. Abraham had lived and walked with God and had seen His promises fulfilled. He trusted God because He knew God. This is “substitutionary atonement.” God provided a ram in Isaac’s place. God provided Christ in our place. How would anyone not accept the substitution?
Steps resource 42-R23 (test)
1. Before class, print a copy of 42-R23 for each student. 2. Explain the activity. Good morning class. Today we are going to take a test. Please put your name on the blank, but do not start the test until I have given the directions for each section.
This lesson provides a very clear presentation of the gospel. Your pre-primaries are very young, but they are not too young to understand salvation. You have taught them Bible truths this quarter. They may not accept Christ this week or next week or next quarter, but you have planted seeds, and they will not forget.
God had promised Abraham that he would have a son. Abraham and Sarah waited and waited. Abraham was almost 100 years old, and Sarah was 90 years old. Would God still keep His promise? Abraham was sitting by his tent when he saw three men walking toward him. “Please stay for dinner,” said Abraham. These men were visitors sent by God. Two were angels, but one was the Lord Himself. Abraham told Sarah to start cooking a meal. As they ate, the men asked, “Where is Sarah?” “She is in the tent,” said Abraham. Sarah was by the
3. Students will work each section but will not move on to the next section until told to do so. Read the directions for each section only as students are ready to do the section. Younger students may need help printing the letters or numbers. Let them tell a helper what they want in the blank space. 4. Give the answers to the test and let the children check their own tests. Reassure them that this was just for fun.

door. They could not see her, but she was right behind them. “Very soon Sarah will have a son,” the Lord said. Sarah did not believe that. She started to laugh quietly and said to herself, “Abraham and I are too old.” “Why did Sarah laugh?” asked the Lord. “Is there anything the Lord cannot do?” Sarah was afraid. How did He know she had laughed at His promise? She came outside and said, “I didn’t laugh.” “Yes, you did,” said the Lord. He knew all about Sarah. When the men left, the Lord promised again that Abraham would begin a great and mighty nation, and all the people on the earth would be blessed. Months later, Sarah had a baby boy. Abraham named him Isaac. The name “Isaac” means “laughter.” God had kept His promise. We can always trust God to keep His promises.

LESSON 1
God Gave Us His Word Timothy and Peter write about God’s Word
Teacher Tip
Teacher Preparation Teachers need to be challenged to grow spiritually too. This section of your lesson each week will help you apply God’s Word to your life. The stronger you grow as a believer, the more effective you will be as a teacher.
If you don’t have access to mirrors, a window in your classroom or a picture fame with glass would work instead. Make sure you tell your students to be careful with the glass.
Name a strong belief you have regarding personal nutrition.
How has your belief affected your diet?
Ps. 119:9; John 3:16; 2 Tim. 3:15–17; James 1:22–25; 2 Pet. 1:21
BuildUP Theme LEARN DOCTRINE God’s Word tells us about God, His world, and our lives.
Measurable Student Response
The student will demonstrate his belief in the inspiration of Scripture by reading God’s Word in the coming week.
Memory Verse
“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness” (2 Timothy 3:16).
Read 2 Timothy 3:16 and 17. How should your life be impacted by believing the Bible is God’s Word?
1. Before class, clean the mirrors so they are free of fingerprints. 2. Organize the students into pairs. Give each pair a mirror. 3. Show the students how to breathe onto their mirrors to create condensation. Explain that the vapor on the mirror is tiny water droplets from their breath.
5. Clean the mirrors with the glass cleaner and paper towels. Have the students switch who does the writing and who does the reading.
Believing the Bible is God’s Word should affect our personal intake of God’s Word. But sometimes we act as if we aren’t sure the Bible is true and beneficial. Look for ways this week to demonstrate that you truly believe the Bible is God’s Word and that it is worth studying. As you do, your lessons will become more genuine and impactful.
ASK: How would you like to write an entire book this way? ASK: How long do you think you would last before you gave up? 6. Transition to the Bible lesson. God passed the Bible along to us with His “breath,” but He didn’t use a mirror or His finger. He breathed His words into the minds of writers who wrote His words as if they were thinking of them and writing them themselves. In our lesson we will learn God’s special word that describes how He gave us the Bible.
Timeline Give each student an attendance and verse chart from page 29 of their student books. The chart covers the first six lessons of the quarter. The chart on page 31 covers the last seven lessons. Note that the chart is a timeline of significant Bible events and people. Notice also that the timeline runs from page 29 to page 30 and that the pages align when laid next to each other (see figure below). Next quarter’s timeline charts will fit next to the timeline chart from this quarter. When the two-year cycle is over, your students will have 16 pages of a continuous Bible timeline. Give them sticker 1 to put in place for attendance. Next week, allow them an opportunity to earn the smaller Bible sticker by saying the verse from this week. Collect the charts and store them in your classroom.
2
Recognition Stickers
Steps
4. The student with the mirror breathes onto his mirror and secretly writes a word with his finger in the water vapor before the vapor disappears. Once the vapor evaporates, he hands his mirror to his partner. The partner breathes on the mirror to reveal the word visible in the condensation he breathed onto the mirror.
How should your belief affect your diet?
Scripture Focus
• Hand mirrors, locker mirrors, or craft mirrors (one per pair of students). • Paper towel. • Glass cleaner.
Option 2—The Bible’s Books Teacher Tip Instead of collecting books, consider locating websites that correspond to the books in the materials list and projecting them or showing them on screen
Materials
• Directory or phonebook, poetry book, almanac, history book, storybook, songbook, driver’s education manual or rulebook.
Steps 1. Display the books for the students to look through. Give a brief explanation of each book. Note that the almanac gives predictions concerning the weather. After a few minutes ask them some questions about the books. LESSON 1

Grades 5 and 6 Curriculum Plan Strong Kids for Juniors goes deeper to ground students in their faith and prepare them for their teen years. The overall track is through the Bible, but with different emphases than in the primary and middler age groups. For instance, students spend more time on the Ten Commandments, Solomon’s wisdom in Proverbs, and endtime events in Revelation.
This plan is based on Jesus’ seven teaching aims (p. 6) and includes measurable responses in each lesson. The number after each aim indicates how many times that aim is addressed. Believe the Gospel—19 Understand Biblical Ethics—13 Internalize Godliness—9
