Rehabilitation Medicine Students’ Association (RMSA) The Rehabilitation Medicine Students' Association (RMSA) is the sole official representative body of the graduate students in the Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine at the University of Alberta. The RMSA exists for the purpose of providing students with opportunities for involvement, leadership, and professional development.

UAlberta Mental Health Hub Students experience a variety of stressors and challenges that are particular to academic life. When considering these demands in a larger context (i.e. personal and work life), mental health can become an area of struggle for many students. If you are feeling particularly stressed, there is always help. Marketing & Communications The Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine’s communications department is located in 2-28 Corbett Hall. The communications team is in charge of enforcing the Faculty’s visual identity, including logo usage and correct colours on all promotional materials, social media, presentations and the website. Among other things, the communications team also handles the production of branded swag items.

Programs

Student Rooms

There are five programs offered in the Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine:

• 2-26 is the Student Commons, a lounge for all FRM students • There are four seminar rooms available for student group/individual use when not otherwise booked. These rooms are: 2-44, 2-35, 2-15 and 2-22

• MSc in Occupational Therapy Occupational therapists (OTs) help people get back to meaningful everyday activities. They work with people of all ages who have experienced an illness affecting physical or mental health, an injury, or a disability starting early in life. • MSc in Physical Therapy Physical therapists or physiotherapists (PTs) keep people active by helping them prevent and manage the effects of congenital diseases, illness, chronic diseases, neurological conditions, accidents and the stresses and strains of everyday life.

• 2-11 is a designated quiet study space for students to use when not otherwise booked • Classrooms may be used by students when they are not otherwise booked • Socializing and studying can also take place in Corbett Café

Recruitment Events Every year, the Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine takes part in several recruitment events, and often requires student volunteers. Recruitment events begin in late August, through to October. The Faculty also takes part in one-off recruitment events not scheduled yearly.

• MSc in Speech-Language Pathology The role of a speech-language pathologist (SLP) is to identify, assess, treat, manage, educate and help prevent language, speech, voice, fluency, cognitive, and other related communication disorders, as well as swallowing problems. • MSc and PhD Rehabilitation Science Rehabilitation Science is an interdisciplinary field of study that integrates knowledge from the basic and clinical sciences to improve our understanding of human movement, physical function, and disability across the lifespan and to improve outcomes of people of all ages.

Clinics The Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine is home to and participates in a variety of clinics that attract community patients and allow students to get hands-on clinical experience.
