It’s difficult to believe that summer will soon come to an end. The days may be longer, and sunsets brighter, but the season undoubtedly flew by. Perhaps, in part, because Cherry Creek summers are like no other. From the annual Arts Festival to the Food & Wine celebration, to rooftop patios, sweeping views, and cool cocktails, our neighborhood truly comes alive in the warmer months. I guess time flies when you’re having fun.
In this issue, we looked to our friends and neighbors to applaud all things Cherry Creek via our third annual Peak of the Creek Awards (page 61). We asked our readers to cast their votes and did a bit of sleuthing ourselves as we picked the best and brightest of 80206. Dining, shopping, culture, beauty, wellness – it’s all being celebrated throughout this issue. We hope you’ll help us in honoring Cherry Creek’s best – from the mom and pop shops to the exciting new brands that grace our streets – we’re shouting their names from those aforementioned rooftops.
We’re also exploring the neighborhood’s most best brunch spots spots in this issue’s iteration of The List (page 28) and are stepping inside a stunning Cherry Hills Village residence in Homecoming (page 44). Couple that with a Q&A from the talented man behind the bar at Five Nines (page 40) and a night on the town at Local Jones (page 38), and it’s an issue with a bit of something for everyone.
Thank you for continuing to welcome us into your homes this season and beyond. It’s our sincere privilege.
Yours truly,
In a market rich with realtors, Ann Kerr stands out from the pack.
And while her sales record speaks for itself, (Ann is recognized as one of Denver’s top producers and has been named to the Who’s Who of Luxury Real Estate) she’s anything but a salesperson, believing instead in the power of relationships. “I’m not very good at ‘selling’ per se – my view on brokerage is that my role is to help my client make the best buying or selling decision relying on my expertise, which may or may not result in a sale in the short term,” the long time Cherry Hills Village resident reveals. “I’m in it for the long haul and as a friend and neighbor to many of my clients, I value these personal relationships.” Indeed, her more than twenty-year tenure in the industry reflects the type of staying power that can only be achieved through honesty, integrity and unrelenting authenticity. What’s more, when you hire Ann, you get Ann. “I answer phone calls and emails directly. It’s extremely important to me that I take responsibility for knowing every detail of every transaction,” she attests. A notion that may seem simple, but in a thriving market such as Denver’s, one that is far too often not the case. “There are so many ‘experts’ in the media providing misleading information which cannot be universally applied across the board to every home sale,” she explains. “A broker who has experience in your area and has been selling real estate through many market cycles can give the best advice on selling your home to the right buyer for the right price.”
It’s this type of honesty and expertise that has made Ann not only a real estate leader, but a community leader as well. In fact, she has served on countless boards and committees including the Cherry Hills Village Planning and Zoning Commission, The John Lynch Foundation, University of Oklahoma Alumni Association, Swim Across America, the Cherry Hills Village Elementary School Accountability Committee, PIVOT, the Colorado Lacrosse Foundation, US Lacrosse and the University of Denver Lacrosse, and the Denver Ballet Guild.
Ann most definitely walks the walk, enlisting a wide variety of tools and programs for both buyers and sellers. “No two clients and no two homes are alike. I like to approach each listing from a fresh perspective, engaging my wide network of contacts and a wide variety of strategies – whether it’s a wine tasting event at a new listing or an article in a local publication – to sell a home.” This creativity, coupled with tried-and-true knowledge and a stellar reputation, serves her clients extremely well.
“To be successful in any kind of real estate market, you must start with the needs of your clients, always be committed to those needs and utilize your experience to the maximum,” she finishes.
