AUGUST 2024

MEMBER NEWSLETTER

Dear Members,

As we find ourselves in the embrace of August, it’s hard to believe how quickly the year has flown by here at the Reiman Gardens. The vibrant summer blooms are still in full swing, offering a breathtaking display of nature’s artistry. It seems like just yesterday we were welcoming the first hints of spring, and now we’re savoring the lush growth of midsummer. Time truly does have a way of slipping past us when we’re surrounded by such beauty.

I’d like to take a moment to highlight the benefits of our reciprocal admission program, which allows our members to explore a variety of other participating botanical gardens across the country This program is designed to enhance your membership experience by offering free or reduced entry at numerous partner locations However, it’s important to note that the details of reciprocal admission can vary from garden to garden. We strongly encourage you to call the participating garden ahead of time for specific entry policies

A special thank you goes out to all of our members who attended our MVP celebration recently. It was such a fun time! Your presence and support were instrumental in making the event a success, and it was a pleasure to celebrate our shared love for the Gardens with such a wonderful community.

Lastly, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for your continued support as members of Reiman Gardens Your contributions and dedication help us nurture and grow our gardens, ensuring that future generations can enjoy their splendor. Thank you for being a vital part of our community and for helping us cultivate a sanctuary of natural beauty. Here’s to many more seasons of growth and discovery together

Members and Volunteers Picnic Recap

Reiman Gardens held two ribbon-cutting ceremonies on Friday, July 26, 2024, in honor of its volunteers’ efforts.

Manager of Volunteer Engagement Kim Hope welcomed members, volunteers, and staff to two separate sections of the Gardens during the event, and announced the dedications of the Volunteer Legacy Pathway and the Carroll Marty Pergola.

The Volunteer Legacy Pathway serves as the grand entrance to Sycamore Falls, offering breathtaking views and a testament to the dedication of volunteers A plaque was placed at the entrance to the boardwalk to commemorate the dedication.

“Volunteering is a selfless act, and the impact you have on the Garden and on all who visit is immeasurable,” remarked Hope to the crowd of approximately one hundred people “From the meticulous care you give to each plant, to the warm greetings you offer to every visitor, your efforts create an atmosphere of beauty, learning, and inspiration You embody the spirit of enchantment and community that Reiman Gardens strives to cultivate.”

In the same spirit of appreciation, the Carroll Marty Pergola was named to honor Carroll Marty, a volunteer of more than 20 years whose contributions have been integral to the Gardens Carroll's tireless commitment and infectious wit have left an indelible mark on Reiman Gardens. In his lifetime, Carroll has contributed over 9,000 hours to Reiman Gardens.
