The proposed road construction and border pass opening will facilitate development of tourism and recreational potential of Carpathians in the target regions. The impetus will be given first of all to the three potential infrastructural projects in Verkhovyna district – mountain resort ‘Chronogora’ and recreational resort ‘Gadzhyna’ in the village of Bystrets, and mountain skiing resort ‘Krynta’ in the village of Krasnyk. The uniqueness of these resorts lies in their location in the highest part of Ukrainian Carpathians. The value of capital investments under the mentioned projects is estimated as 329 million Euro. The estimated number of tourist overnights during the first five years will increase from 170 thousand to 1220 thousand, and number of day visitors for the same period will increase from 470 to 575 thousand.
The road passes the territory of Verkhovyna district of Ivano-Frankivsk region (villages of Iltsi, Krasnyk, Topilche, Zelena, Yavirnyk) Road sections

Width of roadbed
5-9 m In most of the way the bed is located on a ledge, mostly along Cheremosh river, on ascent to the pass. Along several sections of 100-300 m of lengths the width of roadbed provides a one-way passage of vehicles. The climatic and geographical conditions here are favourable not only for active and outdoor tourism, but also for the winter sports games of international level, including Europe and World Championships and the Olympic games.

Near the village of Iltsi the road accedes the regional road R-24 Tatariv - Kosiv - Kolomyia - Borschiv- Kamianetz-Podilskyi, which is connected to the European motorway E-85 Klaipeda (Lithuania) - Alexandroupolis (Greece) (in Ukraine - M-19 ), national roads N-09 Mukachevo - Ivano-Frankivsk - Lviv and H-10 Stryi - Mamalyga and regional road R-62 Kryvorivnia - Chernivtsi.

The transverse profile is a gable. Longitudinal profile executed as close as possible to the existing one, with the thickness of constituent layers, correcting it only in places where the need to reduce the existing large slopes

The width of the roadbed for the regional road connections will be up to 9 m, and rural and forestry roads - up to 8 m. The roadway will have two lanes as regional road links, rural and forestry roads

BORDER PASS OPENING ACROSS THE UKRAINIAN-ROMANIAN BORDER SHYBENE (VERKHOVYNA DISTRICT OF IVANO-FRANKIVSK REGION OF UKRAINE) AND POIENILE-DE-SUB-MUNTE (MARAMURES COUNTY OF ROMANIA)
Agreement between Ukrainian and Romanian Governments on simplified procedure for state border crossing by citizens residing in the border districts and counties as of 29.03.1996 (establishes the right for the simplified procedure for the state border crossing for citizens of Verkhovyna district of Ivano-Frankivsk region and Maramures county; contains the list of border crossing points under the simplified border crossing procedures). Cooperation Agreement between Ivano-Frankivsk Regional State Administration and Maramures County Council as of 19.03.2008. Minutes of amendments as of 05.2010 to the Cooperation Agreement between Ivano-Frankivsk Regional State Administration and Maramures County Council as of 19.03.2008. According to the paragraph 1 of the Minutes the Parties shall provide the appropriate support to the border pass opening in Shybene – Poienile-de-Sub-Munte within their competencies and in pursue to the national legislation of Romania and Ukraine. The Tasks and Measures of the State Target Social Programme of Sport and Tourism Infrastructure Development in Ukraine in 2011-2022 approved by the Resolution of Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine № 807 as of 17.10.2013 include: • Construction of automobile road Iltzi - Yavirnyk - State border with Romania. The sources of funding: other sources, except state budget, including funds involved under the state guarantees, forecast amount of funding – 680 million UAH (task 1 measure 8) • Opening of the border pass point on Ukrainian-Romanian state border in Shybene - Poienile-de-Sub-Munte. Sources of funding: state budget, forecast amount of funding – 27 million UAH (task 7 measure 7)

• The implementation of transit potential of Ivano-Frankivsk region of Ukraine and Maramures county of Romania; curtailment of time, distances and costs for the automobile trips from Ivano-Frankivsk region to Maramures county and vice versa (the distance from Verkhovyna to Viseu de Sus will be equal to 90 km, whereas today this distance through Solotvyno equals to 202 km)
• Essential increase of tourism trips (from 170 to 1 220 thousand overnights) and day visits (from 470 to 575 thousand) in the border territories
• Facilitation of economic cooperation of Ivano-Frankivsk region with Romania and other EU countries including cultural and business relations between border communities
• Employment opportunities: from 10 to 22 thousand new jobs will be created
• Improving the transport accessibility of the regions, alleviation of depressive and peripheral status of the border communities, remoteness from the administrative and industrial cities
• Tourism expenditures and local economy revenues from tourism will account for 27 million Euro in the first year after the border pass opening and reach 87 million Euro on the fifth year
• The construction of mountain recreational resorts ‘Chornogora’ , ‘Krynta’ and ‘Gadzhyna’ will attract capital investments with declared value of 329 million Euro
